This wonderful cozy mystery is perfect for the Christmas holidays. While there is a murderer on the loose, it still checks all the boxes for warm and cozy reading. The main character, Eve Sawyer, is invited to house sit. As a journalist, her curiosity pulls her into a murder investigation that happens to be just a little to close for comfort. The story reminds me of those mysteries we all enjoyed reading growing up. A page turner that will keep you guessing!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading and listening to from the first book. I enjoy how the narrator uses different tones of voice to change characters. I also enjoyed how they made the book come to life. I found this to be an engaging story that is shorter but packs a punch. A story where two people have great chemistry but life gets in the way. Will these two figure out things and be able to have a life together? Katie and Chase’s chemistry and growth is off the charts and you don’t want to miss their story. I really enjoyed listening to this story and I highly recommend it.

Everybody needs a second Chance, even Katie and Chase. This is their story. Katie’s hard working and enjoys her job. But with her friend getting married, she journeyed home. It was great to see her mom and sister, even though it was a short visit she planned to make the best of it. Chase lost his brother in an accident, and was left with raising his nephew. His whole world was his love for his nephew, and was raising him to be the best he could be. After being set up for the wedding of their friend, they both found themselves forced to be together. Were they really hating it? Can Chase and Katie work through the hurt they both suffered? I admire this author! This story is all about her second Chance romance and is fun and enjoyable to listen too. Her books are always filled with unforgettable sweet romance. This is just the beginning of her newest series and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

And we are back with another Eve Sawyer Mystery. I enjoy these books though I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read them all. Which would have to be my next task. A Death on Fools Lane gives the reader everything they want. Mystery, intrigue, someone willing to find out the truth. Eve and her friends are house sitting over their winter break. What could go wrong? Well if any of you are familiar with these books, a lot is the answer. Waking by the police on the first morning there to only find out there’s a body in the backyard could be pretty terrifying. However Eve doesn’t feel its cut and dry. And puts her journalistic abilities to work once again to find answers. Will she find what she’s looking for? These books are a series. However as stated above “I haven’t read them all” which means they work rather well as standalone novels. Yeah, do you miss some references, sure. But they aren’t crucial to the story. The author keeps you guessing in this short novel. Which keeps on turning the page looking for more.

This Time Around by Jane Suen Narrated by Devon Grace and Troy Duran Five Stars
This book is one of my favorite listens of the year. I have read and listened to many of this authors books. It is always a treat. This story is short enough to listen in one setting and it kept me entertained while I was flying home. The narrators Devon Grace and Troy Duran are new to me. I look forward to more from them. They really brought the characters to life.

What happens when you start your vacation with a body hanging in the tree? Well that is what Eve and her friends were faced with. Being who Eve is, she set forth to find out what happened. So was it murder or suicide? I share no spoilers! I love reading this series. Yes it could be a standalone, but this series has so much to offer. The characters are incredibly strong and independent. This mystery had me on the edge from the very start. While it seems short, it was very much complete. That is how this author is. She leaves nothing out, this story is fast paced and well written. I’m looking forward to reading the next book by this author.

I love a Eve Sawyer cozy mystery and so was looking forward to this latest story in the series, and I was not disappointed. Being back with college student and amateur sleuth Eve Sawyer is like seeing an old friend, and I always enjoy investigating alongside her. This time Eve is looking forward to a fun winter vocation with her friends, but it’s not long until a dog sniffs out a dead body, and it’s hanging from a tree in the yard where they are staying. Eve can’t say no when the dead man’s grieving mother asks her to investigate whether it was suicide or murder, and so along with her friends they try to solve the mystery. Eve is determined to discover the truth so she can give the victims family the answers they need, but someone is not happy with her investigating and she soon finds herself in danger. As usual the descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline had me hooked throughout and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the mystery. An enjoyable and engaging read and I look forward to being back with Eve again soon.

This is another great addition to this series and yet another brilliant book by this author. It was so easy to reconnect with the main character even though it had been a while since I have read an Eve Sawyer book. This book follows on from book three, although it can be read as a standalone. This is quite a short story, which is a trait I have come to expect from this author. And yet, even though it is a shorter story, it doesn’t feel like anything is lacking or rushed. I connected with the book immediately and I read it all in one sitting. This is definitely one of my go to authors and I would recommend all of her books.

This was a great cozy mystery! I just recently started reading this genre and I loved how this one wrapped up the story. I did not realize this was the fourth book in a series but was still able to follow along with the characters. I will go back and read the other three as I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. There was an unexpected plot twist that took me by surprise. I think Eve, Randall and Cassie make a great team and flow well together. I really like Eve’s personality and how she just wants to jump right in and her friends support that part of her with ease. I will definitely be reading more from this author starting with book one in this series!

I LOVED this book so much! I have read lots form this author and I love how versatile she is but I have to say I think that this is definitely my favourite form her so far. I fell in love with the characters straight away. Katie was just an amazing character, I loved her so much, she was relatable, I connected with her – she was just a genuinely lovely person to read about and then add in Chase! Perfection the two of them! The way he stepped up and took in his nephew and the relationship that they had was wonderful. I loved every minute of this story and would highly recommend it to others! The narration for the story was wonderful, they both really brought the story to life.

This is a wonderful sweet second chance small town romance that I loved every minute listening to.
Chase and Katie were high school sweethearts years ago and now when a friend is getting married … Chase and Katie are paired up as each others plus one. Chase is still bitter how things ended and Katie has regrets making decisions that changed the course between them years ago. The spark between Chase and Katie never died ….and a second chance is what they need…
Wonderful story, sweet and clean….. highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eve Sawyer is invited on a last minute vacation with friends and is looking forward to it. Staying with her friends at her Aunt’s house is supposed to be relaxing, but when police show up and they discover a body in the backyard everything changes. Can Eve and her friends figure out if the man was murdered or was it suicide? Will they be putting herself in danger while investigating?
I read the first book if Eve’s and this was another great story about the young journalist to be. Well paced and entertaining. Kept you guessing.

From what I understand this is a part of a series, book four to be exact, and, they can be read as standalones however I will be definitely going back to read the first 3. This book was a great read. Author writes mystery and Suspense WELL. I lost myself and may as well have disappeared from earth because I wasn’t putting this book down for anything. I am excited to get into more books from the author as she does an amazing job at pulling you in and delivering!

This was a cute read however it felt a little forced! There definitely was a point where it was dragged out and the book could have ended, the dialogue especially with the aunt was forced and awkward. This was an easy read that would be a good YA starter.

5 Star’s A Death on Fools Lane (An Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen
A Death on Fools Lane is the fourth book in the An Eve Sawyer Mystery Series and is a wonderfully written Cozy Mystery. Each book in this series gets better and better than the last and this one I have to say is my favorite yet. I pretty much devoured this book in one afternoon because I had to know what was going to happen next. I do recommend reading this series in order as each book helps you learn more about the characters and where Eve started and to see her growth throughout the series. But they can be read as standalones as well. This is a fast-paced story about Eve who is a strong independent woman is a undergrad college student that lives for getting the story. Trouble seems to find her no matter where she’s at and her biggest problem is saying no. Eve and her friends are racing against the clock to solve the mystery or will she become the next victim? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Eve Sawyer is a journalism student and is excited that she gets to house sit with a couple of friends over the winter holiday. Everything goes south really quickly though when a neighbor out walking his dog comes across a body hanging in a tree…and it’s in the yard of the house where Eve and her friends are staying.
This was a great little story that I read in just about an hour and a half. It kept me engaged in what was happening and I enjoyed the little twists and turns throughout. While this is part of a series, this book can easily be read as a stand alone. I look forward to reading more work by this author.

I didn’t realize initially that this was a book in a series, Book #4 to be exact, but am happy to report that it serves well as a stand alone as well. I’m sure there would be added value to the content including background on the characters and adventures they’ve experienced together, but not having read those did not seem to detract at all to the storyline; Ms. Suen did a great job of providing just enough context without leaving a reader wondering what they’re missing. I thoroughly enjoyed Eve’s sleuth-like qualities and will most likely be downloading books 1-3 to see what I’m missing; the only thing I wish there would have been more of was the detective/dog duo- definitely would have enjoyed more from that duo, but the book was enjoyable!

This is a cozy mystery. Which is short and quick to read. I found it to be the perfect mystery to read one rainy night where I really just wanted to sit and read and be cuddled up with my favorite blanket, a warm drink, and a good book that I can be absorbed in until the rain stops. This story focuses on Eve who begins to wonder how Murder Creek got its name. She begins to research and finds herself deep into a 20 year old missing person case. She soon finds herself obsessed. She ends up writing a term paper on this case and decides to spend some time trying to solve a case that had been unsolved for 20 years. Eve becomes an amazing investigative journalist and begins to get the locals to warm up to her and begin talking. I truly enjoyed Eve as a character. I know I have become hyper fixated on something to the point that I can’t let it go. I feel like this is Eve with this case. But I also feel like its why some of the locals start to open up, because they can tell shes just intrigued and in college so no one really thinks she will solve anything. I definitely enjoyed this story. I thought that is was exactly as it was described – a cozy mystery. I loved it and definitely want to read more written by Jane Suen soon!

This is a well-crafted mystery. The characters are believable- they are real enough to be fallible. I enjoyed the fact that the characters were able to minister to others in times of great sorrow. Readers who have not personally encountered tragedy may gain a small understanding of what to do (or not do) around others who are going through something terrible. I will definitely read another book featuring the main character.

This was a quick, sweet romance of a lost love. Katie comes back home for a wedding after ten years of being gone. Chase is raising his nephew and never expected the woman who broke his heart to show up. Little did they know, the love was still there. If you want a quick romantic novel, this is it. The narration was great and really rounded off the book.

4.5 Stars A Death on Fools Lane Murder Off Route 82 is the Fourth book in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. I think this is my favourite Eve Sawyer Mystery to date. This book picks up where book 3 left off. They can be read as standalones, but I suggest you start with the first book and work your way through. That way you get to see where Eve started and how she has grown throughout the series. Eve Sawyer is a college undergrad student and loves nothing more than getting the story. This tenacious young woman seems to find trouble even when she is not looking. The other thing is she can’t say no when others need her help. Eve and friends are looking forward to relaxing and settling in for the holiday season, the smell of Christmas is in the air but so is trouble. As Eve and her two friends are drawn into helping solve a mysterious death, they find more than they bargained for. What secrets come to light as she and her friends race against time as their lives once again become endangered. This engaging cozy mystery is fast-paced and has everything to make the pages turn. Be sure to grab a copy and settle in for an afternoon read.

A Death On Fool’s Lane is the fourth engrossing instalment in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. This is an intriguing cozy mystery woven with suspense, drama, friendship, family, crime and investigation, interesting characters, secrets, lies, and more. Being set around the Christmas holidays also adds an extra element of interest to the story. We join Eve Sawyer, and her friends, as they find themselves caught up in quite an unusual murder mystery. We have met Eve (and some of her friends) in the previous books. Eve is a college journalism student who has a great ‘nose’ for sniffing out a good story, but also seems to attract trouble and danger. In this story Eve is invited to house sit for a friends aunt who will be away over the holidays. It is an opportunity to relax, unwind, and explore that Eve just can’t resist. But little did she know that this trip would bring mystery right to her doorstep, as a body is found hanging from a tree in the backyard. What happened? How did the body come to be in there? Is it really a suicide, or something more sinister? Well, this is well worth the read to find out. As expected from Ms. Suen, this is a fun little mystery with all the ingredients needed to keep you flipping the pages to find out what happens. This story could be read as a standalone. But, I highly recommend reading the previous books, as there is a lot of interesting developments, intriguing mysteries, character introductions/details, and other relevant information that will enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this book (and series as a whole). Can’t wait to see what Eve gets up to in the next book. Bring it on! Happy Reading…

A Death on Fools Lane is book 4 in the Eve Sawyer Mystery, but could be read as a stand alone book, without feeling like you are missing much. Eve is a journalism student, who keeps finding herself in the middle of crimes. In this particular book, she has her friends are house sitting for a family member over Winter break. They arrive late at night, and go straight to bed. A few short hours later, they are awoken to police knocking on the door. A dead body was found in the backyard of the house they are staying in. We follow Eve and her friends as they investigate the death, trying to determine if it is a murder or suicide. The mystery remained until the very end, and it was not at all what I expected. I always enjoy these book, as it is a cozy mystery. Despite centering around death/crime, it is not grim and intense. I look forward to more from the author.

Kate finds second-chance love with her high-school sweetheart, Chase. This book is so romantic. I am a fan of this author as romance stories have an amazing human emotion to them. You can truly feel the love, the pain, everything the couples go through as they are working through the relationship. Listening to this as an audio book enhances the experience. You can feel the emotion even more when you hear it. The narrators did a wonderful job with this story. I found it interesting to just sit and listen. Truly, the struggle is real. This story is so relatable. This is a well-written and developed story that will touch your heart and leave you feeling touched when you are done.

Eve and her friends are taking a short vacation over the Christmas holidays while watching a house for a friend’s aunt. The morning after they get into town, a man is found hanging in a tree in the back yard of the same house. Eve sets about finding out how Mead died. Opinion For a short book, this was a good mystery. At just 127 pages, the story is quite short. Suen show promise for mysteries but I wish more details were added. This book is perfect for someone who needs a distraction for an hour or two.

This was another great read from Ms Suen! I love following Eve and her adventures. This may be a short story but it is certainly not short on detail. Poor Eve was expecting to have a nice relaxing getaway with her friends but as we know when Eve is about there is always something to be solved! There were so many twists and turns in this story – everything was definitely not as it seemed! The author did an amazing job of keeping the suspense going the whole way through the story. These books are an absolute must read – I can’t wait to read this author’s next book!
