Climbing the Walls (Hart & Cole book 1) by Sacha T.Y. Fortuné 5++++ stars
Its been days since I read this book and everytime I thought I had what I wanted to say staright in my head, it just didnt seem to do this book justice. I loved the premise of this book, and the way it was written was unlike anything ive read before. We all know relationships are hard work, add kids in the mix and busy work lives and you somehow put important things on the back burner when before they’d take top priority. Well that’s our main character Nicole. A busy mom with two jobs, a demanding boss that doesn’t care about office hours and shes willing to do whatever necessary. Kris her husband, hes made to be superdad and for all he does and picking up for Nicole’s forgetfulness, he kind of is. The whole story, which is written in a diary type form, you can feel the stage being set for something big and let me tell you I did not expect what happened to who, at all.
This is a must read. While long, I didn’t skim or skip, it was that important to read it all. I’m chomping at the bit to read what’s next.
Caught in Cross Seas is the first book in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. This is my first novel by this author.
Country singer Clay Masterson travels to Angel Beach in search of his father who is charged with murder from eighteen years ago. When he finds him, he will alert the authorities.
Harlie is baker who moves to Angel Beach after escaping her abusive husband. The two meet and Harlie helps Clay.
But there is more to this situation than any of them could have thought possible. With danger lurking around every corner, falling in love was not part of the plan.
I really enjoyed the novel especially the main characters. Clay I felt sympathy for but felt he made some decisions that weren’t right but I could understand his anger. His relation with Harlie was filled with so much emotion it made it feel on the edge of my seat.
The author did a really great job showcasing the hurt, misunderstandings and heartbreak the characters go through.
It’s been a while since I read such an thriller filled emotional book, but I look forward to the next book in the series.

Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense by Rowena Holloway Four Stars
Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. This mystery/thriller is the first book I have read by Rowena Holloway, but definitely won’t be the last. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I just couldn’t put it down until the last. Charlotte Ashe is a local weather babe, trying to rise up in ranks to investigative reporter. Joey Baptist’s is a on the rise soccer player, who ran into some trouble. When Joey contacts Charlotte with a scoop and things start happening, Charlotte doesn’t know who she can trust as she investigates what really happened to Joey. This book had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. If you love a great mystery, I highly recommend this book.
Chain Reaction is the second book in the Nite Fire Series and just like the first book I was sucked in from page one and I couldn’t put it down. A new dangerous drug is on the street and Dahlia and Creed work together to find out who is putting it out there before it’s too late and secrets are thrown into the light. This book is Suspenseful and has lots of twists and turns. Even though this is the second book, I think it can be read as a standalone. BUT I recommend reading them both because they’re really good. All I can say is Gwyn sure knows how to draw you in and keeps your attention till the end. She literally writes “knock your socks” off stories.I love the Hawke Family its definitely a series I see myself reading over and over again in the future. I’ve been patiently waiting for Storm’s story and Holy Cow was it worth the wait. Get ready for a emotional rollercoaster ride .This is Landon’s and Storms story.Both of these two know what betrayal feels like and both are in need of some healing. Find out what happens with these two. I highly recommend reading this book and the whole series if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This book took me through an emotional journey. Both Perrin and Emil are damaged in their own way and have very different ways of dealing it. Perrin who is always looking for the next exhilarating rush for her to jump into and she tries to stay positive at all times. Because she is always so invested in what she has decided to jump into she doesn’t have time for relationships and she isn’t even sure she knows how to be in one, it’s her way of not getting hurt and how she deals with the pain she has already been through. Emil is a broken man since he came back from war and is having a hard time figuring out where he fits in now, and trying to find the person he was before he got deployed. He is angry and bitter and isn’t sure how to change it. These two couldn’t be more different, and although their friendship starts off rocky and they go through some rough times I couldn’t help rooting for them, because they are so good for each other. Everything that Emil has been through is heartbreaking, the author does an amazing job making these feelings jump right off the pages and into my heart. I couldn’t put this book down till I read every last page!! I highly recommend this captivating story.
Family is what’s suppose to hold us together. The glue to our foundation. Some people don’t get so lucky as to have family like that. Lilly’s life hasn’t been easy. Caring for her siblings and doing what she can to survive. Webb is such a smooth guy. Until you get his temper going. I enjoyed these two characters coming together. The author made their age a big deal but I think it might have highlighted something unique to them. I don’t like large age gaps especially if it’s a teenager. The author pointed out how their age shouldn’t matter. So much emotional pain for such a young life. Julieann was too smart and straight forward. She seemed to have missed a normal childhood with her mom. But you can see that changing with Webb. The story was strong and sweet.

Caught in Cross Seas was a great 5 star read and book one in the Caught Series.
Harlie meets Clay after she gets in an accident with her smart car, she is enamored by his looks. They meet again when Clay accuses Harlie of following him home, which didn’t go well. Clay didn’t exactly start off on the right foot with Harlie.
I don’t care who you are. I’m not interested in you or whatever you’re offering. -Clay And I’d bungee jump nude into a cactus before I’d be interested in you either! -Harlie
Clay has come to Oregon in search of his supposed dead father, who needs to face what he did back in Montana. Harlie also has a little secret of her own as well, and if her location is discovered it could mean some bad things for her. Harlie agrees to help Clay try and find his dad, they end up growing close and feelings start to develop.
There are twists, turns and secrets revealed that added a great element to the story. I really liked Harlie, she was a caring and spunky woman and she had no clue who Clay was at first. It was great how she handled the riot of women, I was LOL. And I loved Clay, who doesn’t love a hot musician. All of the secondary characters were great. The ending was perfect and I would love to see more from these two, feel like there could be even more to their story. I can’t wait to read book two in the series.

I absolutely love Gwyn McNamee writing style. Her mind set and her books. This is book 4 in the series. You must read them in order. In order to know and follow the Hawke family. I love the characters and the roles they play. The second chance she gives to Storm is beautiful. While this is the end of this series. I looking forward to see what comes next for Gwyn McNamee.

The characters are well written and amazing and the things that they over come in this story made them feel real. The story line is different and amazing. Gibson after losing his wife and child in a devastating accident, he turns his back on everything—including his business empire. He felt unworthy of anyone’s trust, convinced himself he would never find love again, let alone have a family. Then he met Sacha. Sacha after a bitter divorce left her reeling she forged a new life on her own. Now on the verge of a promotion, everything she want is in reach except a family. Finding Juniper is the third book in Sadia Ash’ Smoke series that also concludes it. I did not know that it was the third and final book when I picked it up and started reading it thinking that it is a standalone … major mistake so do yourself a favour and be smarter than me and start from the beginning! I had to put this one down and go and start with book 1! As I said, this is the conclusion of Juniper and Kyle’s epic love story. The writer gives it to us from both of their point of views and man, if you thought that the writing was engaging in the first two books, you will see how much further the writer has evolved through the series! Finding Juniper will pick up where the second book ended where Juniper was over and done with Kyle and it seems that this is the end to their story even though both of them still love each other … Still, when you have gone through all that those two had and you had overcome so much then you know that it simply cannot just finish like this and you simply keep your fingers crossed and wish for second chances! And you are not disappointed, Sadia Ash gives us a finale that will stay with you for a while!

Less You Know by Rowena Holloway is the second book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This can be read as a standalone and be enjoyed. I was excited to read this book because I enjoyed the first one in the series a lot. The character of Charlotte continues to grow but this also means she finds herself falling into some strange rabbit holes in her investigations. Lies and coverups are all over the place and it makes her question everything she knows. I enjoyed the writing because it kept the story at a good pace and I didn’t want to put the book down. The characters are interesting and add to the overall suspense and mystery. I look forward to more from Rowena Holloway in the future. Review by @sherimichelle1

I did not read the full title of this book before diving in. Only after reading it did I see that it is “Southern Gothic” that was a new phrase to me, so I had to look it up… As described in the “Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Literature” – “Southern Gothic is a mode or genre prevalent in literature from the early 19th century to this day. Characteristics of Southern Gothic include the presence of irrational, horrific, and transgressive thoughts, desires, and impulses; grotesque characters; dark humor, and an overall angst-ridden sense of alienation.”
I am not a fan of “historical romance” because typically it’s all lords and ladies and the degradation of women (in the most subtle ways). “Southern Gothic” might be the way for me to get around my lackadaisical reaction to the genre.
This was a multi-layered story that built upon itself as the story unfolded. There is great world-building and character development. Each character was well explained in their role and certain characters (I’m looking at you, Opal) morphed as the story continued. It is dark and dense in it’s telling. It is also extremely detailed and I could visualize the clothing worn and the looks given.
While it’s still not my favorite genre, it gave me a new appreciation of the style.

Building Storm is the fourth instalment of the Hawke Family series. Every book in this series has brought the drama and this one is no exception. I am a huge fan of this series and the characters it has created, so to say I was excited for this read is an understatement. This book has it all: drama, sexiness, love and a huge amount of emotion. I loved this story and think it is the perfect ending to the series.
At the end of the previous book, Stone Sober, I wasn’t sure how Storm was going to cope. I was excited to read her story but also nervous, as I knew it was going to be an emotional journey. Not only was she dealing with a tragic loss, she was also coming to terms with the new, difficult, relationship she has wit her brother Stone. This was one of the things I was most excited to read about, as I really couldn’t see how she would be able to forgive him and move on. Her relationships with all of her family and central to this book and I loved seeing the whole family together, especially with the inclusion of new boy, Landon! He is exactly what Storm is trying to avoid and yet the instant connection they have is crazy. He is so intense and it completely throws her, which was so much fun to read!
Aside from all the drama with the Hawke family, which there is an abundance of, Landon brings his own problems to the table. We learn pretty early on that he has some serious issues with his dad, but we don’t learn the truth of it for quite a while. I loved how well this was drawn out, as the little hints along the way had me guessing what had happened. There is a pretty dramatic ending so I won’t ruin it for you but it is the perfect conclusion to this series. I am gutted that it’s all over!
This series took me completely by surprise. From the first huge plot twist in Savage Collision, I found myself hooked on these characters and their lives. Storm’s story really hit me in the heart and I have grown to completely love her; is she allowed to be my favourite female character? This is a must read for fans of this series. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Nite Fire: Chain Reaction is the second book in the Nite Fire series. Even though you can pick up on the story pretty well in this book, I would still suggest reading the first book (plus, it is just freaking awesome). The overall mystery story arc is left open in this book, but the main part of the book gets wrapped up.
The Nite Fire series is a fascinating adventure. I loved this book just as much as the first one. Chain Reaction is full of action, adventure, a splash of romance, snarky humor, and a brilliantly written villain. Of course, having a strong female lead character is one of the great things about this series! I also love Evans, Coen, and Creed. Each one brings a new layer of intrigue to Dahlia’s life.
One of my favorite lines from this book is, “And friends don’t let friends get eaten by dragons.” I cannot wait to continue this adventure in the next book!

It took a few chapters for me to get into the story, but once more layers started showing up, it became entertaining. At times the story is a bit predictable, but the drama keeps you reading. It is essentially the sweet-girl-with-a-past-meets-famous-person-who-can-fix-everything tale. The last third of the book is intense and probably the best part of the story. And I won’t lie, I may have needed some tissues near the end. Not a bad diversion from reality for a few hours.

Caught in Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott a four-star read that will want to run to. This is the first novel in the Caught series and shows how great this series is. This could be too much of a story as there is so much going on with the story and lots of different sub plots, but somehow the author manages to keep it all together and keeps you hooked in to the twists and turns. Clay Masterson and Harlie Cates have a darkness that they are running from, but will they get to run to the light? Each has a different darkness but sometimes you find a common strength in the dark. I can’t wait to read the second novel in this series.

Building Storm- A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 4), by Gwyn McNamee. This is the fourth book in the Hawke Family Series. I fell in love with this author and this series from the first page of the first book. I have been waiting to read Storm’s story. This book had me hooked especially when Landon came into the picture. Their pull to each other was magical. They were both emotional wrecks that needed each other to heal. I both laughed and cried while reading this book!!! I absolutely love Gwyn’s books and can not wait for more!!!!

So I have done a bit of binge reading…I had only read Savage Collision before this book was released so could not read this one till I completed the other two and now I have a bonafide Hawke Family hangover and am so so sad that I don’t have another to move on to. I love this family and all those that have come along and joined it. Each story is unique and has something different to offer but the one constant throughout is the family ties which is one of my favorite things in my books. Then of course there’s the way this author twists these stories and you just sit there not knowing what is going to happen or when it’s going to happen. This one had me lost on the impending twist, I usually have some idea of what might happen but this one threw me and for some reason I didn’t see it coming till it was obvious.
My heart was broken in two at the end of Stone Sober and it didn’t mend till quite a ways into this one. That’s one of the reasons I love this author so so much, when I read her books I just know I’m in for an emotional ride and when that ride ends it always leaves me wanting so much more. I know this can’t be it…There’s more story to tell for this family especially with characters that have appeared back and you just know there’s more drama ahead and I for one CAN NOT WAIT!!
Do not even attempt to read these books out of order…It will not work and besides this author is brilliant and you don’t want to miss a single word 🙂

OMG..These book are killing me….I knew when I opened this one it was going to be an emotional one and I was so right….So much going on I don’t even know where to start.
I knew when reading Books 1 & 2 that somewhere along the way Stone would get his story and I knew there had to be a lot more to him than what I was seeing previously. As unsure of him as I was it did not take long to fall head over heels for this guy. As his story unfolds everything about him starts making sense and the way he felt about Nora…sigh…He tried to do the right thing and stay away from her but he just couldn’t help it. Nora is Dani’s sister and the sole reason that Dani met Savage when she did. I loved Nora…her cute ways of trying not to swear made me smile. She wasn’t all innocent and pure but was definitely not the type of woman that would stir Stone normally. Dani also tried to stay away from him but the draw was too strong and watching her struggle with how much she found herself loving all that Stone was and had to offer made complete sense.
It was the rest of the story that had me all messed up…So many things that came out of left field and made my jaw drop…This had my feelings all over the place, I went from being totally angry to completely heartbroken many times and I could not predict how this one was going to end, at one point I thought omg there’s not enough time for some of this to be dealt with but once again this author had everything under control and my love for her writing just gets stronger the more I read. So many things still to come and I’ve already got the next ready to go and can not wait to jump back in to this amazing family…

It has been awhile since I read Savage Collision and I’ll admit I kinda forgot just how much I love this author and her books, and how I absolutely couldn’t wait for the next in the Hawke Series. I loved Skyes story and everything that went with it. This author knows how to hook you on page 1 and literally won’t let you go even after you finish and that’s because she lets you in just a bit on what is coming next and thankfully I have the next sitting here waiting for me to start.
I love this family and those that are part of it even if they aren’t, like Gabe, who has been a part of the family for over 20 years and Savage’s best friend, which is why wanting Savage’s little sister is such a bad idea, especially when he is dealing with so many ghosts haunting him from his past.
Skye Hawke, Savage’s little sister who has tried very hard to push everyone away and cant seem to get over the loss of her twin sister. She threw herself at Gabe at Savage and Dani’s wedding and was rejected and knows that pursuing him will do nothing but cause problems within the family, but can she help herself?
I loved this story, and this family…I have become emotionally invested in all of them and love how this author can throw in some twists that you don’t see coming. This was an off the charts hot yet emotional read and I can not wait to dive in to Stone’s story.
Highly recommend, but don’t read these out of order, they all tie together and you really need all the pieces to fit!

Building Storm is the fourth book in The Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. This series needs to be read in order because one book follows the next. This is such a great series, you won’t want to miss any of the five star stories. That being said this is my absolute favorite book by Ms. McNamee and the best story I have read over the past year. Storm and Landon’s story is so emotional. They have both lost loved ones or been hurt by those they loved. This is truly an amazing story that you won’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book, series and author and can’t wait to see what Ms. McNamee has in store for us next.

Surviving Jordan by Virginia Wine is the third book in the Surviving Series. This book started with a twist and the suspense and mystery kept me guessing.
I loved Jordan! She is a strong woman who was fortunate enough to not have to deal with men who don’t think she’s worthy of her position.
Ben is a great and honorable guy. He deserves to be happy after all of the emotional torture he has put himself through.This has been an amazing series to read and I highly recommend it.

Caught in the Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott is the first book in the Caught Series. I was drawn in at the very beginning and hated to finish it only because I enjoyed it so much.
Harlie has an incredibly giving heart and she tugged at my heart in the first chapter and didn’t let go. Her work to give back to people who are in such dire need me makes me want to do more. She has her demons but don’t we all.
Clay also has an amazing heart and demons. He hasn’t let his fame effect who he is as a person and it has actually made him able to do more.
As a child of an addict I was able to connect with some of the feelings Harlie had buried deep. As much as we don’t want to admit it the actions of our parents both positive and negative impact us.
Great book! Can’t wait to get to the next in the series.

Building Storm is tear jerking book four in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I knew from the blurb for this book it was going to be an emotional one. I was not wrong at all!! I am endlessly surprised by how an author can continuously produce these stories of such high quality and content, time and time again. They have my respect and appreciation for all the work that goes into each story. You can always tell the ones that leave it all on the pages for us lucky readers to witness. I am in awe of the stunning impact these stories have on me and the memories that will stay with me while I am on this earth.
Storm knows tragedy and pain, as does Landon. They have scars so deep, there is no end to them. Intensity and strange events have them drawn to each other, but for the physical connection, nothing more. I love when they think they are fooling us. They can be in denial all they like, but they will find that peace together. I will not have it any other way! The more they fight, the more inevitable it becomes. Landon is stubborn, and does not ever give up on Storm. Storm breaks my heart with what she has endured, that all I want is her to find that much deserved happiness. The emotional turmoil was relentless, but those moments of intense passion and connecting with another, was blinding in its beauty.
Building Storm is the final story in the Hawke Family series. It was agonising to read the last word of the final chapter, but an immeasurable pleasure to have been on this journey with all these complex,crafty, flawed and entertaining characters. This series is one I will read many more times. An unforgettable series. 5 stars.

Killer Lawyer (Jake Wolfe Book 3) by Mark Nolan was a pretty okay read that has many heart stopping moments.
My first read by this author, I didn’t know what I was getting into. I will say that this book is part of a series, and though this book can be read as a standalone, I did find that there were many things, in regards to character background, development, and past plots; that at times made me feel lost. So I highly suggest reading the other books before this one.
As much as I enjoyed this book, I have a mixed review for you.
This was for me, a slow read, that was a little all over the place. I felt like there were too many sub-plots, too much non-essential information, and way too much overexplaining. The lulls between action were dull, too long, and frankly I got a little bored. To be blunt, I got some Issues with Sara. Now that could have come from me jumping into this series at book 3, but man oh man, she got on my nerves. I don’t like when ultimatums are given, and frankly I found the way she acted towards Jake was immature and closed minded. There has to be give and take, and to make a relationship work, compromise is needed, and one person should not have to give up their entire life/job, when the other party isn’t willing or won’t do the same. I’m a serving member, and maybe I’m pulling at old wounds, but that whole situation was, you could say, triggering for me.
On to the good.
I have a deep love for the amount of research that when into this book. I’m talking the little things, one that got me was the “hurry up and wait.” It’s a common military situation, one I have been in many times. Nothing like to have to show up for 0530, only to be told you’re on standby, but you can’t relax because you might have to jump into action at a moments notice… three hours later and you’re still “on standby“… so yeah, that one made me chuckle.
When the action got underway it was suspenseful, heart stopping, and detailed. I like the multi POV, especially when the killer was narrating. It was a creepy look inside his twisted head, and added a darker, almost panic like layer, that offset the slower parts of this book. I like all the characters, their connections to Jake and even though they gave him greef, you could feel the respect they had for him.
Overall this book is well written, engaging and intriguing. It could use a hair cut, to get rid of some of the unnecessary bulk and filler, but in the long run, I very much enjoyed my time reading this thriller and it gets my high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Chain Reaction was a great 4 star read and book two in the Nite Fire series. I was once again pulled right in by the authors writing.
Dahlia and Creed are back and are working as a team, they find themselves on a new case where bodies are being found burned up. Will they be able to find answers before it’s too late?
There is also a very dangerous drug that has some unusual side effects. Dahlia is trying to find out who is feeding the drugs to people before it’s too late. Can she keep the paranormal secret from getting out?
I don’t want to go into too much detail because there is so much to this great read. There are several twist and turns that added a great element to the story. All the secondary characters were great, they all added a great element to the story. Dahlia and Creed are great together, they mesh so well and I love it. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the culprit was. If you like lots of action, suspense, and paranormal reads this is the series for you. This is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I look forward to reading more from this series/author.
Stone Sober is book three in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. This story centres around Storm and Nora. Can i just say the names of these characters get my heart racing just reading them. The guys names are so manly and fitting for each character so far, it just is simply unleashed talent and delivery of amazing stories. It just impresses me beyond measure.
Stone just wormed his way into my thoughts and heart and left his own unique little mark. I don’t know whether it is because i feel he had the most pressure put on him, more so self inflicted, or whether he always felt he had something to prove, but he just dragged those caring emotions out of me more than any other character. Nora was not supposed to get under his skin like she did, but cupid had other ideas. Nothing can stop true love and theirs was destiny. But they had to fight for it, and their struggle for happiness will be an ongoing one. Nora does what she has to do and her innocence is endearing and brings out every protective instinct i have. She is a character that makes you want to tuck her under your wing and shelter her from any deluge.
Gwyn McNamee provided another twisting, intriguing and unputdownable story. Their rare and deadly story was unforgettable and hard to match. A pleasure to get to know was this cast, and getting to know more is a real addiction for me. 5 stars.

Tortured Skye is book two in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. As I expected, these stories just seem to get better, with each story as unique and perfect as the one before it. It is really hard getting back to reality after reading a Gwyn McNamee story. I read with my emotions, so these stories just get to me on a whole different level, which is rare and so precious to me. They really are the ultimate escape to paradise.
Skye and Gabe are a couple that intrigue me. Skye loved Gabe for a long time, and Gabe felt he had no business having these deeply ingrained feelings for Skye. But no one can fight the inevitable. Their attraction is deep. Their attraction erotic and endless. The way they handle their sizzling chemistry will leave you breathless. The dynamic between the two is the most arousing. Their very essence drew me in and had me a bundle of nerves, as I i never quite knew what they would throw out next. It was a gift to read their exciting and boldly dramatic tale.
The further I get into this series, the more bittersweet it is. I cannot wait to read all the stories, but at the same time, never want to reach the end. I don’t want this crazy ride to ever end. I am in a constant state of delirious joy at revealing each character and the story the have to tell. It becomes an addiction that gets satisfied but I am still endlessly curious as to what happens next. Always a pleasure reading this author’s work. 5 stars.

Savage Collision is book one in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I was first introduced to this author when reading the Scandalous Slip series and was so happy I discovered her. She is a witty, descriptive and extremely talented. Savage Collision was a more serious story that instantly grabbed my attention.
Dani had sass and attitude aplenty, and Savage feels that full force of it from the very first meeting. Savage is astounded and captivated. Their story is so edgy and fraught with danger and suspense. One thing blatantly obvious is the intense attraction. The chemistry is off the charts and I was drawn tight in anticipation. The drawing magnetism that is apparent between them is its own living, breathing entity, and left me a quivering mess of emotion.
Savage Collision is an amazing introduction into the Hawke family. Dani and Savage’s journey was electric, inspiring and arousing. The secondary characters I cannot wait to get to know more of and continue this dangerously addictive series. 5 stars
