What a heartwarming story that brings you back to the life of a middle schooler. As a teacher, I can say that most students worry about two-three things: grades, crushes, and maybe sports. Rourke was trying to make this his perfect year, but certain obstacles, like crazy neighbors and the typical antics of middle school, made that somewhat difficult. What I loved about Rourke’s story is that it took us into the mindset of a young teen and made us realize that they actually do worry about more than just two-three things. Rourke has a lot of problems to deal with beyond his own, including the struggles of his sibling and classmates. Over time, I truly began to understand his worries. While I thought that this would be a fun and interesting read, I was not expecting the deep issues that this book so heartwarmingly covers. I highly recommend for people of all ages.
