My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy #8) by Jen Talty was a fast pace, fun, entertaining read, that had me hooked.

My first read by this author and for this series, don’t be put off by the number, though this says book eight, it reads as a standalone. I fall right into this story and no point did I feel confused or felt like I was missing something. Nicely balanced and witty, I very much had a good time reading this unique book.

Right away I was pulled into this book, I’m not going to tell you how it opens cause I think it’s a nice little surprise and a fun treat. After that opening we meet Annabel, right away I liked her, and that doesn’t happen very often for me, to actually like a MC right out of the gate. She was fun, witty, and someone I could see wanting to be friends with. A very strong MC, Annabel carried this story, and really made up fro some of the weaker areas.

Overall this book, as I have said, is a super fin read, and you will get hooked right from that unique opening. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will have a time reading this quirky rom-com.

Happy Reading

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy series. It can be read as a standalone.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. Cozy mysteries are not my usual read, but I had a great experience with this one. The cat’s perspective is amusing and the human characters are really well written. Overall it was a fun read and I’d suggest this book to people who are looking for a fairly clean romance with their mystery. And also, mystery solving cat…I think that speaks for itself, lol.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is book eight in the Familiar Legacy by Jen Talty. A first read for me from this author, and although I am coming into the series rather late, I feel it is better late than never. Stories of finding love the hard way are some of my favourite, and I haven’t come across one that didn’t warm my heart. I felt good things about this story and  I was not disappointed.

Annabel goes home with a broken heart, and ends up with a unit full of treasure. But even that has trouble attached. She is a train wreck. Along comes Ethan and a black cat, and total chaos reigns supreme in her life. She falls hard for him and  her run of bad luck seems to bed relentless. She doesn’t want to risk giving her heart only to have it broken again. This tale is energetic, suspenseful, intriguing and funny. Trouble was the cherry on top of a fantastic story. I connected well with the characters and was always eager to turn the page and learn more. A brilliant tale that made me anxious to go back to the beginning and start from book one. 4 stars.

I have had the chance to get a bit of a taste of Jen Talty’s work in various anthologies here and there and really have enjoyed each story so it was quite a no-brainer for me when I saw the cute cat detective story pop up on my fee for a quick afternoon read. I was a tad cautious, although open-minded, going in because this is book eight of the Familiar Legacy books. I had absolutely no issues picking up right here though, just discovered a sweet series of shorts that I will get to go back and enjoy in the near future. I will say this isn’t a meaty story. It is what I like to classify as a light and fluffy book, something to break up the serious full series reads maybe, so that would be a note for myself and probably a reason for a four star rating as well for me personally.

In Trouble’s Wedding Caper we follow the feline detective and his caretaker Annabel on quite the mysterious little rendezvous. Annable finds herself at a storage auction and with a unit of unknown items. Even cannier is the previous owner really wants them back. Throw in that the local cop she enlists for help ust happens to be a old friend and crush. What will she do about that? Grab a copy today and dive in to find out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed that you did! Thanks for the great little read Ms. Talty.

Oh man this crazy cat lady was really hooked on this book. The author has a very unique story format and writing style. I really enjoyed the mix of romance and mystery. The whole story just really kept me glued to the book and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

I really found the chemistry between Annabel and Ethan to be sweet. The whole sort of crushing on your best friend’s brother really makes this story realistic. I just love the fact that Trouble plays a big part in this book. A detective cat just adds such a cuteness to the book. I found that the author had a real unique way of bringing in the mystery around the story and characters. I like the idea of the cat helping bring the couple together and helping solve the case. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

I give Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty, 5 stars.

Trouble, the feline detective, is being taken care of by Annabel in Jupiter, Florida. He is all ready for a vacation and can’t wait. But it turns out she may need his help after all. She purchases a storage unit at an auction, without knowing the contents. But now someone seems to want the stuff back, and is willing to do anything to get it back. Not only that, but Annabel finds out the local cop is an old friend and someone she’s had a crush on since childhood. She is not ready to date again, but there is something about him. Should she try? Can Trouble help solve the storage unit mystery before it’s too late?

I am new to this series and wasn’t sure what to expect. I absolutely loved it! Trouble is fantastic and Annabel and Ethan are too. The story is fun, engaging, and full of romance and mystery. I love that it switches between the two human points of view, then adds in Trouble’s point of view too! This book reminds me of The Cat Who series but with romance thrown in. I read that series as a teenager and it is dear to my heart. That should show you how much I love this book. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

If you like romantic cozy mysteries and/or are a cat lover, this book is for you.

Rated 4 stars

This is an enjoyable read with some romance and mystery. The characters were fun and outgoing. Each of the MC have come down a hard road. Now that they are both back in the same town a little romance could be in their future. Especially if Rosie has anything to say about it. I zipped right through this with all the interesting side stories. It reads very smoothly. Trouble(cat) is a fun fixture. He figures out how to communicate well with the humans. He is a good add to the story. I enjoyed how he tried to get his point across.

This is my first book by this author. I throughly enjoyed meeting the characters and that cat! I have not read any others in the series so this can be read as a stand alone. I recommend this story if you are looking for a fun flirty read with a mystery.

Ok so this was my first read by this author and I thought it was fantastic, I so loved taking a break from some of the heavier books I’ve been reading and take on one that did have its serious points but was just simply a lot of fun to read. It had a steady and smooth flow, just enough drama and mystery to keep me stuck to the pages and then enough POV’s so that I always knew what every character was thinking.

I will with no doubt be going and looking through what else this author has available because her writing style suited me perfectly and oh how I wish there were more with Trouble, I just loved this whole concept…

Many Thanks to this author for a fantastical read!!

Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty a five-star read that will make you chuckle. This is the eight novel in the Familiar legacy series but you don’t need to have read them all, I have only read number two and five and now eight and I have loved them all, I am sure one day I will get to read them in order but until them I will just enjoy them as I fancy them. You will chuckle reading this one, as well as be kept guessing, Trouble will just make you want to wish he was real as who wouldn’t want a cat that supreme. The story is told from many perspectives so that can get a little confusing but the author deals well and keeps it interesting and clear.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is the first book I’ve read by this author.

The book has some romance, friendships, suspense and breakups in it.
Annabelle and Ethan are old friends. She is best friends with his sister. Both are in relationships that quickly end in the beginning of the book. One drunken night at a wedding ends in someone doing a shot from someone’s belly button!

Here they are months later when Annabelle and Ethan run into each other again. Luckily for Annabelle, Ethan seems to stay semi close to her. She is a treasure hunter who just bought an abandoned storage unit. Someone is out to get Annabelle but with Trouble on the case, he doesn’t make it easy.

I thought this book was well written. I liked most of the characters but wasn’t into the whole cat saving the day storyline.

This is the 8th story in the Familiar Legacy series and I read this as a stand-alone. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author.

I would classify this as a “cozy mystery” as it features a cat named Trouble who helps solve mysteries. TROUBLE is the thread that connects all of the stories in the series. He’s a special cat and it took me a few chapters to realize it was the cat’s “voice” at the beginning of each chapter. Cute cute cute.

The dialog and banter is sweet and the cat is just a amazing “He’s obviously never wrangled with an intelligent feline before, much less a master detective skilled in all tactical forms” hehehe. Oh, btw, I read the cat with an English accent.

This is a story that moves quickly from beginning to end. It held my attention and while at times it was obvious, other times I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong.

This is the type of book I would recommend to my mother’s elderly book club.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the 8th book in the Familiar Legacy book series by Jen Talty. It is the first I have read, so it can be read as a stand alone book. This book has a lot of drama, mystery, comedy and a dash of romance. It tells the story of Annabel, who returns to her small town home of Jupiter, Florida after getting her heart broken in NYC. While at her best friend’s wedding, she finds her boyfriend cheating on her, and gets drunk with her best friend’s brother, and her high school crush Ethan. Flash forward months later, and they are both back home in Jupiter and turns out Ethan’s fiance was cheating on him as well. Maybe the time is finally right for them to act on their feelings they have been hiding for years. With the help of Ethan’s sister, and Annabel’s best friend, they go on their first date.
On top of all of that, there is a lot of strange things happening, most involving Annabel and weddings. She buys a storage unit full of wedding gowns, rings, invitations and presents. With the help of Trouble, a cat, who is more like a detective, Annabel and Ethan try to solve the crime. This book was unlike any I’ve read before, but I loved it. It was so cleaver and not at all cheesy as I thought it would be. I will be reading others in the series to see what fun they have in store.

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was not what I was expecting at all when I first read the blurb. This is the first book that I have read in this series so hence why I wasn’t expecting what I read but it has absolutely made me want to read more by this author now!
I loved the characters – Annabel and Ethan. Annabel was a determined character, she wanted to start over. I really enjoyed reading her story. There were some good twists in the story too. I really liked Ethan – he was just one of those characters you can’t help but like and then there is Trouble! Any book that has a cat in it is going to be a winner with me! I loved that about this story!
I thought that Trouble’s Wedding Caper was a fast paced story that was highly entertaining. I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This story was so fun. I loved how the author put it in the cats POV. I was more interested in what the cat thought then the actual story. The plot was interesting especially the deal with the wedding items. Annabel was a super sweet lady who didn’t deserve the treatment she received from her ex. But we shouldn’t stick in a relationship when it’s not heading anywhere. I really had fun reading this story it was a quick read. I think stories like this are great for taking breaks from the normal genres I read. It gives me time to appreciate the authors. Ethan is clueless though. How did he not notice? The author’s writing style flowed nicely so you didn’t have any moments that had you guessing. I like stories that are easy to follow.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy Series by Jen Talty and is a wonderful story full of romance and mystery. This is my first read by Ms. Talty, so I didn’t really know what to expect when I started on this book, but I can now say that it definitely won’t be the last of her work that I will be reading, as I am already looking at others I want to explore. I enjoyed this engaging, and clever mystery, and the interesting and relatable characters. The story had humour, danger, intrigue, drama, and of course romance.
I loved that we got to hear from several different perspectives, including Trouble, the cat. He’s such a posh and refined feline- his witty, some what sarcastic personality really shone through and he became quite the scene stealer.
A great little mystery that will keep you very entertained from beginning to end!
Can’t wait too read more of Ms. Talty’s work!

The story Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It has both mystery and romance. It hooked me in right from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Annabel Wilder and Sheriff Ethan Farris. Annabel is a woman who is beautiful and independent. She is a treasure hunter and has found wonderful things when she bids and wins a storage unit. She soon finds herself caught up in an investigation headed by Ethan. Ethan shows himself to be protective of Annabel. Danger follows the investigation into a rash of wedding burglaries. Will Ethan be able to solve the burglaries? How much danger is Annabel in? Will Trouble, the black cat, help Ethan with his investigation? There is an attraction between Annabel and Ethan. Will they act on their feelings for each other? Read this book to find out. This is a story that at times had me wondering what was going to happen next. I felt like I was putting together a puzzle in order to find out the guilty one. I felt a connection with both Annabel and Ethan and grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. I also loved the character of Trouble. His quick thinking and wit brought a smile to my face. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that has amazing characters. I would highly recommend reading it.

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2 is an amazing collection of short stories by various authors including Tamara Ferguson, Suzanne Jenkins and Natalie Ann. I enjoyed each of the the stories I read but decided to spotlight a few by authors that are new to me.

A Royal White Christmas by Leanne Banks

Holly’s life is already in chaos, she is helping run her brothers farm. She meets the handsome stranger thanks to Brandi the Beagle.

I’m a sucker for any story that features a dog, but I’m partial to dogs that remind me of dogs I know and Brandi reminded me of my sister in laws dog Westley. Always getting into some and escaping. Very sweet ending.

Miracle on Christmas Tree Street by Alicia Street

Hannah and her daughter Abbie are starting a new life by running her Aunt’s Bed and Breakfast. After she gets there she finds all sorts of unusual little things happening all of which lead to a Christmas miracle and a happy ending.

The Holiday (Christmas) by Nancy Radke

Jodie is spending the holidays in one of the most beautiful places I have had the pleasure of going to, Hawaii. She is trying to escape a lot but has no clue what she’s going to find when she gets there.

This was another great story with a happy ending.

If you’re looking for great short stories to start getting you into the Christmas spirit then I would suggest you start reading now.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies you love was a great 5 star read.
I loved this book and the 26 stories within the pages.

These are all new romance stories from so many great authors. Some were new authors for me and there were favorites as well. I love the twist on holiday movies with these stories, my emotions were all over the place with each of them. You can take your time and read a story here and there or sit and read them all at once. They range from second chance romance to historical romance and so much more.

A Wonderful life was an emotional read for me. Noel is about to make a drastic decision, he has too many people that will be impacted by his choice and his guardian angel couldn’t let him follow through with it. Than he meets Mary and things change for him. He was saved to help Mary and protect her. Will they get a HEA?

I was a mess reading Finding Love. When Lucy goes to her father’s cabin for Christmas. Lucy lost her father to a plane crash and being at the cabin makes her feel close to him. Then she meets Maverick the next door neighbor. Maverick feels like he’s known Lucy from all the stories her father shared with him. These two end up having sparks between them and develop some feelings. Will they have a HEA?

A Christmas Getaway pulled me right in and brought me to tears once again. Ryder goes on a ski trip to sulk in booze and get away. When he gets to the cabin he discovers it was double booked to Olivia and her son. He wasn’t happy about the situation. We learn as we move forward some of Ryder’s history, have the kleenex ready.

There are so many more great stories and I highly recommend you 1-click and get reading. I look forward to reading more from all of these authors. What a great way to get in the holiday mood.

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas is a mix of 26 magical stories, that happen to revolve around Christmas time. Each story is well written with characters just wanting a little Christmas love.

Tamara Ferguson has captured my heart with Two Hearts Home for Christmas. This story is part of her Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series. It is book 9. This story is about Nancy and John, who find each other when they are just seniors in high school. Each planned to enlist in the military. Of course, they couldn’t enlist in the same branch, that would be too easy and not what the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series is all about. After several years apart Nancy and John are hoping to find each other again. They must meet back at DragonFly Pointe in hopes that a little Christmas magic has kept their love alive.

Can She Get Home for Christmas? is written by Rebecca York. This is my first story by York and I can not wait to read more. She too captured my heart with her story of Samantha and Jax. Jax is keeping secrets and I hope Sam can handle them when she finds out. They certainly have a little mystery unfolding in their lives. I look forward to reading about what happens to them because this story is not finished!

Each story brings you something different but just like the movies they are written like, you get an enjoyable story with new characters and adventures. I suggest you get this anthology as it is full of stories that will touch your heart.

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas-Movies You Love is the second book in The Holiday Series. This is an anthology that the stories are inspired by Christmas movies. Each of the stories are on average 8-10 chapters and read quickly. The first story in the book caught my eye immediately being inspired by “It’s a Wonderful Life”. “A Wonderful Life” by Mimi Barbour is a sweet, heartwarming story where Clarence comes back to help Bedford Falls. I enjoyed this story because it kept the wholesome sweetness the movie had going. I also enjoyed the story “The Holiday” by Nancy Radke. I am still working my way through the anthology and will give myself a little Christmas treat here and there to get myself in the holiday mood. This is a fun collection and if you like Christmas movies you will enjoy this fun treat of many stories to choose from.

This anthology Love, Christmas-Movies You Love is a collections of Christmas stories. These stories are based on Christmas movies with twists. The stories are not in a series and can be stand-alone books. This is a fun collection you can enjoy reading the stories that stand out to you and then go back and read the other stories. One thing that I really enjoyed was the variety of stories. There weren’t only romance theme stories, but family theme stories as well. I recommend this anthology especially if you like Christmas Movies told with a different twist.

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2) is a great collection of love stories focused around Christmas. I haven’t gotten to them all yet, but it seems to be a good mix, something for everyone. Each story is inspired by the author’s favorite Christmas movie, which is a fun twist. Most of the stories seem to be short stories, but there are a few longer ones, that are possibly full length. I will do a review on a couple of the stories I’ve read, and plan to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket over the next month finishing the others.
A Royal White Christmas by Leanne Banks is one of the shorter stories, but it was cute. It tells the story of two unlikely people falling in love in a small town. Holly has traveled back home to watch over her brother’s farm while he is deployed. She has been living in New York City, and is way out of her element. Finding herself in snow storms, while looking for her brother’s dog, as well as milking goats. A nearby visiting neighbor, Brice, comes to her rescue more than once. During these short, but frequent encounters, they develop feelings for each other, and things quickly take off. The biggest bump in the road is Brice being the heir to the crown.
Suzanne Jenkin’s Christmas with the Clouds is not what I expected. The story starts out very heavy, with the main character,Tracy’s husband dying. She finds herself leaning on her patient for support, and making a best friend out of the ordeal. During her healing process, she relies on her in-laws, and new best friend. An unexpected visitor at Christmas, leads Tracy to find love in the most unexpected place of all. Great turn around from the start of the story, and enjoyable to read. I love happy endings!
In the spirit of Christmas by Alyssa Bailey is about Tara returning home after a bad breakup. Before even making it into town, she gets a flat tire, and in rides Chase, a knight in shining armor…or rather sexy sheriff in uniform, to save the day. She is in for a big surprise, when she gets home and sees that same sexy sheriff in her dad’s living room! Cute story, and I loved the writing. I will be seeking out more of Alyssa Bailey in the future.

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2) by Various Authors – Review by Heather Bahm

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love is the second installment in the Holiday Series. This set features an amazing abundance of stories from a glowing cast of authors that deliver and do it well. Among my favorites within Love, Christmas are:

A Royal White Christmas by Leanna Banks
A Royal White Christmas is set in the country where one small-town girl meets a friendly neighbor. They continue to connect and the chemistry these two have within reach of one another cannot be denied. This was utterly sweet and a perfect example of meeting your fairy tale prince in the most unexpected of ways.

A Christmas to Remember by Cynthia Cooke
Seconds chances are possible, if circumstances allow. In A Christmas to Remember, the author has provided the landscape for what may be impossible to become possible. Fate has plans other than the characters anticipate and keeps pulling them together. Will they succumb to this or will they forge on the path they believe they need to be on? This was truly a holiday to not forget!!

Christmas with the Clouds by Suzanne Jenkins
Christmas with the Clouds is not a story I anticipated when I began reading, truly emotional and raw. I felt for Tracy in this story and tears were hard to keep at bay. The author did an excellent job in creating a touching and story full of growth and potential.

Boyfriend Wanted for Christmas by Melinda De Ross
It’ll happen when you least expect it. Nothing like a time crunch to push you to find something that has been elusive in your life. In this holiday story, the author provides the reader with plenty of laughs while looking for that “boyfriend” for the holidays.

I am always a huge fan of anthologies and this holiday themed set is no exception. Many of these authors I have not read previously and now look forward to reading full length novels from them in the future. These stories all pair well together in the theme and make a perfect holiday read.
