This book is a must read for parents who have small children and are getting them their first dog. It gives tips on training dogs and entertaining them. My son really enjoyed this book as well so that’s a win for my family.

Porter and Midge are two dogs who have loving owners, CJ and Lora and in this book, their humans are learning all about play and enrichment so that they can make Porter and Midge’s lives fun filled and joyful, but how will they be able to do it?
This book goes through all of the different ways that CJ and Lora can play safely and happily with their furry friends, from hunting for treats, walks which are full of new sights, smells and friends all the way to doggy sports and being tactile.
This is a must read for all families who are either thinking of owning a dog, or already have one so that they can teach children how to play safely and join in the excitement which Porter and Midge experience in their own journeys to perfect playtimes.

This book is another great read from the Porter and Midge Children’s Book Series! With its fun rhyming story line, beautifully rendered illustrations, and well-thought-out activities, both your child and yourself will have fun learning about different ways to entertain your dog and yourself! I’m so happy I stumbled on this series as it will help me teach my grandchildren more about dogs, the responsibilities of dogs, and the fun they can bring to their lives.
This book in particular is a great reminder to all pet owners that you need to mix things up with your pets, so they don’t get bored, because boredom often leads to trouble. It talks about a great many things you can do with and for your pet that you will probably enjoy yourself as well.
Being a pet owner takes a lot more energy, knowledge, and time than people often think when they are caught in the moment of seeing a cute furry face. These books would be a wonderful educational starting point if your child or someone younger wants a pet. That way, you can make sure they understand what all pet ownership takes and are truly up for the task. I definitely recommend this series and can’t wait to read more of it myself

What a fun and interactive story to read to your little ones. Teaching your family pet is always a grand idea. Reading about all the dog owners and their tricks was not only interesting but formative. I also loved the rhyming throughout the story. This is most definitely a book for all children, adults and their dogs. Helping to bring more love and attention to our beloved families. The story is easy to read as well as follow. The words and descriptions are so worth the read. This author is new to me. But that won’t stop me from getting more of her books. I look forward to seeing where we go next Review@cinful

Porter and Midge: Paws and Playtime: A Kid’s Guide to a Happy Dog by Giselle Nevada and Jennie Chen is a fun kids guide to having a happy dog. The story follows CJ and Lora and their dogs Porter and Midge. As their dogs play together, they run into several friends who give very useful advice on how to keep their dogs happy. This book had so much useful information. Although it is for children, adults can find tons of tips that they may not have known. The information is clear and very easy for kids to understand with a fun rhyming scheme. The illustrations are also fun.

Porter and Midge: Paws for Safety is the second book in the Porter and Midge Children’s Series by Giselle Nevada and Jennie Chen. This book focuses on teaching children safety around dogs and treating their pets with respect. The book follows Lora and CJ and their dogs Porter and Midge. CJ and Lora give smart advice that is easy for children to understand. The book also provides beautiful illustrations that show children exactly what to do. This is a very good book for children who have dogs as pets or anyone who wants to have good advice about dogs.

Another wonderful book in this series and I love that it helps children to learn how to be respectful to dogs and helping to keep themselves safe as well. The story is well written and accompanied by beautiful illustrations. I read these books with my little boy who loves them for their rhyming content. I think that they are lovely engaging stories and the characters CJ and Lora and their lovely dogs Porter and Midge are really loveable. I really enjoy these stories and think they are a great addition to any child’s bookshelf!

Its a great book for kids to learn about dog care. My son wants to hide treats for our cat and read stories to her now. He loved seeing all the different types of dogs. The dog safety tips at the end were a nice addition. The illustrations were beautiful and colorful. The kids in the book spoke more like adults but the story is great and we loved it.

My seven year old really enjoys books about animals. She was able to read this book and see different ways that you can play with dogs. Some words were not real common for her but it is good to expose her to new words and meanings and after she read it a couple times, she felt much more confident in herself. Porter and Midge would be great companions for kids to learn new skills and new words!

Such a great book for families thinking of getting a puppy or even those who just got a new puppy (or an older shelter dog). There’s great ideas of things to do with your pup to keep them entertained and help with their training, I like that the book says “not too many times and not for too long” when suggesting the dog takes the lead during a walk. Kids will enjoy the rhyming sentences in the story, the illustrations I’m back and forth on. I like how realistic everything looks, especially all the different dogs. But I think younger kids will like them better if things were more vibrant. I like the reminders for parents at the end of the book. Even if you’re familiar with dogs it’s just a good reminder to know that kids are different and will need to learn how to really interact and care for the animals. Overall I enjoyed the book and recommended to families who are thinking of adding a new furry member into their lives.

I am loving this series of books that Nevada and Chen are putting out for children, doggos, and owners alike! The concepts are easy to grasp, inclusive, and so well explained. The illustrations are absolutely phenomenal. I really just cannot get over how beneficial this book is not only for the dogs, but also the owners and their children. It is so educational and age-appropriate. This is definitely a must read and should be on your list of gifts to give new dog owners (especially if they have children). I cannot wait to see what these authors do next.

We are always on the lookout for new books we can share with our children, and having read the first of these books, we knew we had to get the next. This book is a fun and educational story about a bond between children and their canine friends. It is a great way to showcase the kind of activities that can be used to create that bond. This is the kind of book that can appeal to a wide age range. For children, it can be educational and fun. For adults, it can give new ideas as to how to interact with an important member of their family. This is a fun book that we thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this book to all.

Porter and Midge: Paw and Playtime is a fun, educational and colorfully engaging story. Lora and CJ take their dogs, Porter and Midge around to learn all about new activities that can the dogs be happy and healthy. Learning as we go from food and treats to sensory and sniffing. Lora and CJ learn so much to help Porter and Midge gain confidence in teaching them daily and taking it slow each day.
This story can be enjoyed from young to young at heart. I even learned some new activities I can work with my dog, Boe. This is a great story and I love the educational value and learning lessons.

This is a great book for parents wanting to teach their young children how to keep their dogs from being board. The rhyming scheme keeps the book simplistic, but interesting while the pictures are beautiful and full of adorable dogs. Porter and Midge are two adorable pups who explore the world with their human companions. While the foursome are out exploring the world together, the children decide to ask others for suggestions on how to keep Porter and Midge engaged and happy in life. The suggestions found in this book could also be good suggestions for young children to try with their own family pets to try and find new ways to spend time with their furry friend.

Porter and Midge are CJ and Lora’s dogs. CJ and Lora take Porter and Midge around town learning new things and seeing new things. The story is done in rhymes and has a sing song feel to it that my nephew loved. Be sure and add this cute story to your young one’s library. It will a great addition.

Porter and Midge books are educational and fun. Paws and Playtime taught my son so many new activities to partake with our dog. CJ and Lora take their dogs Porter and Midge around their town, learning new activities and ways to have fun with their dogs. They learn how toys and tools can partner with food as a form of play and enrichment. We learned about dog luring, and weaving and tunnels. Afterwards, we looked up videos online to see it in real life. My son LOVED finding the video of the bulldog skateboarding, as it matches the dog in the book. We really enjoyed the different drawings of all dog breeds and learned a lot. My son was happy the book rhymed, and he was able to read most of it by himself. This series is wonderful for kiddos who may have a dog, or plan to get one, or even just want to learn more about dogs.

Another great book to buy your children if you are introducing a pet/dog into your family. This is a cute rhyming book that gives young children some ideas how to train and interact with their pup. And actually, the dog teaches the kids instead of the kids teaching the dogs. I enjoyed the poem format and how each dog teaches a different way to meet puppies needs. This includes a pups sensory needs, what kind of treats to use for training, and all about dog classes. The story is all inclusive of many different breeds and ends with the message about how all dogs are different.

Cute rhyming book, with a fun story/poem like format to give young children some ideas how to train and interact with their furry friend. Thought it was cute how each dog teaches a different aspect (sensory needs, treats for training, dog classes), the opposite of children teaching dog, the dogs teach children. Beautiful illustrations accompany each little “story” of training tips. All different types of dogs are featured, to ensure one looks similar to your little one’s best friend. Ends with a message how every dog is different!

Porter and Midge, along with their dogs, are on an adventure to learn more about stimulating activities that dogs enjoy. They also discover some lower stimulating playtime activities as well. Their friend Cheryl invites them to the “doggy P.E. class” (my words) to play different sports with the dogs there.
The illustrations in this book almost look like they are going to come off the page! They are very well done and are in vibrant colors.
This is a must-have for animal loving families and can be used as a teaching tool with youngsters learning about animal care.

Each book has a really interesting story and learning tools for young ones who encounter dogs and how to be safe and yet still enjoy time spent with a furry four-legged friend. It is very cleverly thought out by Jennie and Giselle. Porter and Midge: Paws and Playtime is a quick and fun read with wonderful colourful illustrations. It is told in a rhyming rhythm which captivates and helps children take things in. It is aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years old. This series of books makes for a great gift, especially with Christmas just around the corner. Happy reading.

This is a fun story with tips and ideas of entertaining ways to have fun with your dog. There are ideas of places to go to meet other dog owners. There are ideas of how to help your dog enjoy these activities. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The whole story is done in a rhyming rhythm which makes it quite fun to read. At the end of the book there is a not to parents which gives ideas on how to help your children with animals. This is a really neat book to add to a home library or any library.

This was a cute rhyming story about giving enrichment to your dog. While your child is learning during the story, it is done in a fun and exciting way. I even learned something too. Animals are always a great opener for children where books are concerned. They love what the animals are doing and how to interact with them. This is a great book for younger children who might have just gotten a new pet.
