I liked More Text Than Sex. It was written from quite a few points of view. Which can be confusing at times. At first I wasn’t sure how it would go, but it turned out well. A little shaky at first but the author’s idea got across not too far in. The idea kept me invested in these characters.
Working for a struggling music company Annie and Cat come up with a song contest idea. Discover new artists get their work out there that normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to. Well they didn’t expect owner Delaney to be onboard without a fight. Well he was full of surprises he was onboard but wanted Robbie, a marketing guy involved. Navigating life as well as this contest seems to put these characters through the ringer. One dealing with a baby daddy, one trying everything she can do to help those who’ve escaped abusive situations. Another being the brother he needs to be a special needs brother. That’s sometimes a lot for one book, but it worked.
All of them ended up in situations that could be devastating that caused them to lean on one another more than they expected.
What are the outcomes for each character?
How do they collectively get through the adversity?
When life changing events happen, what impact does that have?
So many questions and plenty of answers. This book gets better as it goes. I related to Robbie the most, having a special needs sibling of my own. This book has it all. Entertaining, some laughs, tons of drama, sexual tension, and plenty of passion. If that’s everything you are looking for, trust me on this, read it! You won’t regret it!

This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed his writing style. This story follows 3 different persons. Cat, Annie and Robbie. While at times it was a little slow, the longer you read it the more invested and involved you become. The story line flows back and forth between the 3 major characters in the story and you watch how they grow and evolve together. Seeing how they run the music contest and their own personal battles outside of work was really intriguing.

This is the first book I e read by this author. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it but it was a good read.

Cat and Annie are organizing a songwriting contest. Thanks to the order of their boss, Robbie is now also working on this contest. Each character tells their perspective of working in the music industry because no two people experience something the same way. So many pressures come up for each character through the story and you see them fight to overcome everything.

This was very well written and I enjoyed it. Glad I gave it a chance!

It took me a little bit to get into the groove of the story, but once I did, I was hooked. This is the first book I’ve read by Jim Shomos and I absolutely loved it!

This story centers around Robbie, Annie, and Cat. They are intertwined in an interesting manner as they navigate through the music industry, which is not kind to anyone. Robbie is a manager trying to make it big, Cat is a volunteer that is drained beyond comprehension, and Annie is a single mother just trying to make it through. Robbie is also in charge of a songwriting contest that Annie and Cat are involved in. All three have their own drama but try to help each other through it. Will they make it unscathed, or will the music industry swallow them all whole?

There are some parts of this book, if not the entire thing, that will stick with you long after you read it. Give this entertaining and curious book a chance, you won’t regret it!

More Text than Sex by Jim Shomos is an entertaining book that follows the story of Cat, and Robbie. Cat and Annie run a public songwriting contest that Robbie has delegated to. Robbie has hopes of romantically connecting with Annie but they run into some issues. I really enjoyed this book. It was an excellent, fun read. The plot ran smoothly and the characters were well-written. The chemistry between Robbie and Annie warmed up and then took off. The story was fun and adventurous and was a delight to read.

Another new author for me, I was not sure what to expect from this book. What I found is a really delightful story told from the perspective of three different individuals. It has drama, romance, and family meddling. Once I got a couple of chapters into the story I was laughing so hard I was crying. It did take me a little to get into the story but once I did I could not put it down. The author did an excellent job making the readers feel as though they were right in the middle of this story. I was also fascinated with the inner workings of a radio station. It made me appreciate what they do because I thought it would be a much easier job. I recommend this story for any readers that enjoy rom coms.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. More Text Than Sex is a fantastic read. I didn’t want it to end and I sure as heck didn’t want to put it down. The author knows how to wow the readers.

Annie used to be a musician and now she markets. She loves what she does. Her friend on the other hand doesn’t like what they are about to do. Annie knows that in order to pull this off they need the other person. The quote I chose for Annie is: “We got the contest greenlit. We got twenty percent more budget than we asked for. And we’re getting a doco produced. We’ve had a good day. Best day we’ve had here since we got little Sophie’s song on Neighbours.”

Robbie wants to work with Annie and Cat. He knows the latter doesn’t like him, but this is the best he can do. He wants to produce Annie and get her back to singing. The quote I chose for Robbie is: “I love good music and I love your idea. When Delaney asked for a one-pager on why we shouldn’t do it, I wrote a ten-page plan to show him why Merger had to do it.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

This book is an indulgence for your senses, the story is told from 3 different perspectives, Annie, Robbie and Cat, the protagonists describe what it is like to work in a music record studio.

Cat and Annie organize a song writing contest, which Robbie joins on the orders of their boss, which at first seems like a disaster ends up making the event even more incredible. Throughout the contest, Cat explains how her life is based on what music makes her feel, and how her work at the teen activity center fills her with a fullness that she didn’t think she would achieve. Annie for her part demonstrates the challenge of being a single mother who has an incredible talent for singing and instills love for music in her child. They must face his father when he returns after abandoning them when she told him about her pregnancy . Robbie, who at the beginning is shown as a villain, turns out to be a hidden genius in business and management of musical talent, his life is filled with love for music as well as the care of his brother, whose special needs allow him to be an organized store of music. and songs.Along their narrative the common problems surrounding them will try to crush the mental and physical health> drugs, money and unknown outcomes tainted the goals, but they will fight to overcome them.  

Thanks to the work carried out by the 3, the stories are spun in a way that friendship and love merge into a story full of complex feelings and musical notes.

Where to even start with this book. Funny, sexy, ambitious. The amazing storyline and I could relate and loved all the dynamics. Annie, Robbie, Cat, Dalooney, Lachie, Tony, and Diaz. Quite the characters in a book. Cat and Robbie were my favorites. I can’t forget Manny either though, the IT guy. The BIG BASEBALL bat had I been drinking something it would have come spraying out of my mouth. Poor Robbie, the funniest part of the book. Santi’s story, while he wasn’t a main character I could relate working with teenage boys, and know some of the stories I have been told I can imagine cats pain. Annie I wanted to slap her so hard for her poor choice while under stress but at the same time while I’d never do it could understand why she did, we are only human. She bounced back though. Overall this is one of the best adult books I have read and the title describes it well. Very Well.

Music can sooth the soul and Jim’s captivating contemporary romance More Text Than Sex does that. This home-grown Aussie has wowed audiences with his talented writing skills in music, TV and books just to name a few. Jim is a man of many talents and it shines through in his narrative. His writing is as colourful as he is. Having experienced Melbourne and the music scene there just brings another element to the senses in this story.

More Text Than Sex is full of music and drama, witty banter and humour. I fell in love with the well-developed cast of unique, sassy, quirky and engaging characters. It is a story of not only finding love but of family and self-discovery.

A music contest, a singer on the verge of reigniting her career, a volunteer who is running herself ragged, an overbearing ex and the next biggest manager in the music industry is what you will encounter in this complex and entertaining tale.

I am looking forward to more from Jim.

This book was an entertaining and humorous story in a way that I really didn’t expect when I started reading it. This is a new author to me and I loved getting to explore his writing style. I thought the characters and the story had been really well developed, with things happening at the perfect times.
I connected with this story easily and found myself to be really invested in the characters and their journey. This is one of those books I ended up enjoying much more than I thought I would and I cannot wait to explore more of this authors work.

More Text Than Sex by Jim Shomos proved to be a great introduction to this talented author. The story is a cleverly woven and entertaining tale full of humour, music, emotion, drama, self-discovery/finding where you belong, love, family, banter, romance, and complexity.
Robbie is a hot-shot music manager who’s been tasked with co-collaborating on a song-writing contest. Along with, Annie, who is a single mother on the brink of reigniting her music career. And Cat, who is beginning to lose herself in all the volunteer work she does- draining herself for others, her energy and finances are being bled away and she’s not sure how to stem the flow- she’s in serious need of a lifeline and influx of abundance. These three are thrown together as the story unfolds, bringing about some surprising developments.
The way the characters have been so well-developed with their own individual personalities, quirks, and flaws- and the dynamic between them- really made this story so intriguing- in a connectable, realistic and believable way. The whole music scene/contest added some fascinating elements to the overall plot.
A great read…. Looking forward to exploring more of Mr. Shomos work.

I felt everything within this book! I could not ask for more, I do love sport based romances and this one simply nailed everything that it held within its contents! Wonderful characters as well.

The main two characters, were very relatable and realistic to me. I loved how easy they talked and seemed like they were living body people that you could run into in your daily life adventures. Sometimes with business and pleasure, there is a line that can be crossed, and when it does, holy moly! The book built up the story nicely and was engaging all the way through. I very much loved this must read romance!

Exceptional writing that flowed ever so perfectly. I was very much invested in the story as well as the characters. Could not put it down! Highly recommend this must read book and author!

This is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read. Annie, Cat, and Robbie have a story that will keep you engaged and eager to know what’s coming next. There is one main story and several little plots going on. I love how they all tie together so that things are flowing together smooth and easy to follow. The chemistry between Annie and Robbie took a little bit to ignite but it did finally come along. Robbie reminded me of a high school kid with a crush. Of course, with Delooney as your mentor, I’m not surprised. The man needs a new mentor. Finally, the romance kicks in. I loved the drama, the humor, adventure. The contest was fun to watch it develop. A really cute and fun story that took a weekend to finish ( I did have a child that needed sustenance, lol.) You must read this one. A worthy read.

Kissing Scars by Jim Shomos was a really good read. This novel was unlike any I’ve read before, in the way it read like fiction but was based off what has happened to the author in real life. He goes on to explain more at the end. I don’t want to go into too much detail, so I don’t spoil anything, so all I will say is that it was interesting reading what happens culturally in this novel. I also enjoyed the fact that this was a fast read. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I would read more from this author in the future.

I was first drawn to this book by the cover alone! It is beautiful and colorful and really caught my eye. The story is truly amazing. I loved Leo and Sanaya from beginning to the end of the book. I enjoyed on how we find out how they meet, their playful romance and having to deal with a few “scars”. I definitely recommend this read, it is a light and fun easy read.

They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Well that is something I always do. Sad, but true. I picked this book because of the beautiful and colorful cover. And man, it did not disappoint. The author, Jim Shomos, was extremely detailed through out this novella. I felt as if I was living the story myself.

Two unsuspecting paths cross. Love that tangles up their world. Unknown choices, heartache, and finally after held breaths the ending we all needed. It is everything you truly dream about.

If you want a short read, but you want all the emotion and deep romantic connection, this book is for you!

Can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is a new author to me, but I was intrigued by the cover. I picked it up and read the synopsis on the back and decided to give it a read. I’m glad that I did. I think that the writer did a great job with the character development and the world description. It was a fantastic and beautiful read but not a long book at all. I read it in no time. Of course, I also didn’t want to put it down. Not only was this a beautifully written romantic comedy, but it also contained quite a bit of drama and emotional turmoil with the typical snags in the way. I look forward to reading more of this authors work. Especially if it’s anything like this one.

I loved the cultural touch to the story. It was so well described I could see the story rolling in my head like a movie. The respect between the two main characters is so inspiring and something to thrive for in a relationship.
This pair turn eachothers world upside down but their connection is so strong they can’t be apart.

Kissing Scars wasn’t a book I would typically read. It took me a while to read it even though it was a short novella. I thought the writing was very good and the characters were very well liked. I’m not sure why I had a hard time getting into it but it was of no fault of the author. This was the first book I have read by him and wasn’t really sure if I was going to be into the book or not.

It was a sweet read about 2 romantics who end up falling for each other. They are very different. There’s a big age difference between the two and they are on different paths. Will they be able to make it work or is there just to
much that they cannot see past? Again I thought it was very well written and I give the book 4 stars.

I fell in love with this romantic comedy novella which is inspired by a true story. When Sanaya, a computer games designer left her home in India to move to Australia and expand her carer she also had dreams of one day falling in love and having a baby. However, when she meets and falls in love with a mobile games pioneer Leo who is divorced with three kids her clear plan suddenly isn’t so clear, especially when Leo announces he does not want anymore children. Meanwhile, Leo who is a born romantic has promised himself that when his youngest son turns eighteen that it will then be his time to follow his dreams, of writing magazine stories around the world. But then he meets and falls in love with Sanaya but she wants a baby and his romance rule is, no more children. In this heartwarming romance, “they discover love writes its own rules”. This wonderfully written novella took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it and I was hooked from start to finish. The authors detailed and descriptive narrative bought both the setting and the likeable and relatable characters to life making me feel fully immersed in their love story.

This is a beautifully written romance. Even though it isn’t a huge book it has a complete story and is action packed and leaves you wanting more. The author does an amazing job at describing Indian culture and the influences of that in this story is lovely.

This book is about 2 people who meet when they least expect it. As well as the age gap between them there is also the fact that Sanaya wants to start a family and Leo has already got kids and doesn’t want any more. The couple have to overcome many obstacles to be together and their journey is on of hope, laughter and quote a few tears all in the name of love.

Kissing Scars by Jim Shomos a sweet and funny five-star read. This was my first by this author and I hope not my last, the writing style was nice, and the flow kept me hooked, the emotions running through this story will astound you, its raw and emotional and at times will suffocate you, and then in others chuckling and smiling with them. This was surprisingly short, it seemed like I had just started and then I was halfway through. But that did mean that you could enjoy the story.

Oh my I really loved this book. This contemporary romance about Leo & Sanaya is breathtaking. It is romantic overload with these two. The reference to Latika’s Theme from Slumdog Millionaire kind of stuck and I ended up listening to it while I read and it pushed me further into the feel of the book. This was my first book by Jim Shomos and it was so good. The words just transported me away!

Kissing Scars is an absolutely beautiful novella! This was my first book by this author so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! This isn’t by normal go-to but I’m so glad I picked this one up, everything about this novella was poetic. The author wrote with so much detail, from the smallest thing to the most important, everything was so detailed that I was able to paint a clear picture in my mind, which made it such a joy to read.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
