They end up having a long discussion of turning her so they can get married. They have to bring it to the counsel to have the final say. Who could the killer be a crazy ex lover or someone coming back with a grudge from a past trial? What do all the victims have in common? Kay knows just how to write to keep you on edge and wanting more.

There is only one way to start a vampire story. Make it Spicy! And author Seelie Kay did not disappoint in this wonderful book First, We Kill All The Lawyers (Donovan Trait Series). There is no denying Donovan Trait, one of the best lawyers in town, knows what he is doing in the courtroom and in the bedroom! He is a vampire after all, they have been around the block a time or two. 300 years to be exact. Donovan might have seen a thing or two, but never found a true love. Until now. And she is Human. If all that wasn’t enough to keep him on his toes. Why not add a killer on the loose that wants to kill all the lawyers? Donovan has his hands full after he is one of the first lawyers to be attacked. He has to keep his “life style” hidden since he can’t die from normal human things like being stabbed and shot. It’s a whirlwind of emotions and crazy ups and downs. But this book is at the top of my list. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Forbidden Wolf is the first book in The Shadow Chronicles. Tasha is a vampire who is nearing the age where they are sent off to fight the war against the lycans. Levi is a lycan who is also nearing the age to be sent off to fight war; against the vampires. One night fate intervenes and their paths cross. They have never felt for another what the feel for each other. They have one summer to spend together before they have to fight their wars. They have to do it in secret as the penalty with being each other would be death for them both. Can and will they find their way back to each other? Tasha and Levi are strong adversaries in their own species, can they be even stronger together when a new danger threatens both their worlds? This was a great read that kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

Next Door to a Star was definitely an interesting read to say the least. Ms. Hager created a well developed young teen character so much so that I had to remember that the book was written by an adult. In the beginning of the book I found the character to be very hard to like but that just mean that I got to enjoy her development that much more. Young girls go through so many phases in their teenage years and Ms. Hager captured them all perfectly. The other characters were also written perfectly, basically made me feel like I was back in high school. There was a lot of emotion and parts in this book including young teens developing, sweet and innocent first kisses, the romance was the perfect level for kids that age, great friendship dynamics, and a great entertainment feel. If your looking for a great summer read I highly recommend Next Door to a Star.

The third installment of the Antipodes series, Ouroboros by T.S. Simons, is a heart-wrencher. This one hits right where it hurts – in a good way!! I LOVE this story and its characters. The reader definitely needs to read these three books in order to get the full effect and understand all of the backstory and nuances. But, I can recommend the previous books just as much as this one, so it will not be a hard thing to do. This series is jam-packed with action and emotion, and you will grow to love Cam’s character and continue this journey along with him. Not only does this book contain characters that are relatable and endearing, but the post-apocalyptic theme is eerily relevant in today’s world of Covid. This book really is an entire world in the palm of your hand. 5 out of 5 stars!

Forbidden Wolf was my first read by C.R. Robertson and I can safely say that I will be adding more to my kindle collection. This book was everything that I hoped for and then some. I was originally drawn to it by the front cover alone, but I was hooked by page two. I spent so much time torn between devouring the story and savoring it because I didn’t want it to end, but C.R Robertson’s characters alone kept me glued to the pages. This paranormal romance has everything that a paranormal romance reader could possibly want. This action packed story is filled with wonderful characters, secret agendas, danger, mystery, fated mates and more. I definitely look forward to reading more by C.R Robertson.

In this installment of the Antipodes series, Cam has set off on a journey of discovery and healing after the loss of his wife Laetitia when she was cruelly killed, he is in pain and needs some closure, so he heads away from his home, his family and his life so that he can go back to them fully healed and able to be with them completely, so he takes of on his boat. On his naval travels, the first place Cam stops at is Kirkwall and a visit to the community living on Orkney where some of the other women who shared in his late wife’s ordeal live, he cannot remember what happened on that fateful day and so he asks to speak to them when they are ready. In the meantime, he meets up with some old friends and sees how life has changed there over the past year, he is happy to see them and he thinks that they are happy to see him too, or at least some of them are, but he finds out that they are all still suffering too, he knows he has to regain their trust before they will open up to him.
As he introduces himself to the inhabitants of the island he hasn’t yet met, he has a feeling that there is someone in the crowd he knows, but cannot place them, it turns out to be someone who was heading up the recruitment centre where he was chosen when the whole domed community idea was started. As they properly introduce themselves, Cam asks what they have been doing on Orkney and how they ended up there, this leads on to conversations about their role on the island, the portals and everything else they had learned over the last few years and Cam is invited to join them on future trips around the community, to which he readily agrees. He stays with a friend and it is their partner who opens up first and shocks Cam by telling him that the women feared him after his outburst a year ago, but now that they have seen him and he explains his reasons why and his feelings on everything that happened, they can understand him better too. As the days pass and a working relationship with the woman from Australia develops, Cam stays on the island as he waits for the other women to talk to him, he learns all that he can so that he can take the information with him when he gets home. When the opportunity to talk to the women arrives, it helps them all with some closure and acceptance of what happened and Cam is grateful for it all, but nobody is surprised when he continues on his travels past the place he lost his mind to grief and on to another place in Scotland he hoped to find some more answers.
As he approaches the place he needs to go, Cam finds somewhere dry to spend the time he needs to dig for some information, this takes a little longer than planned, but is worth it in the end when he finds what he was looking for, as well as some unexpected information along the way. He makes a few more stops on his travels and shares some of the things he has learned along the way with others who are as shocked as he is, but it causes him to question the friendships he has and others he hasn’t. Will Cam be able to use the information he finds out to look after those he holds dear, or will circumstances beyond his control threaten the life he has come home to find again and will he be able to look on his life and friendships in the same way because of it? This is another journey of secrets, revelations and discovery which keeps you on your toes as you journey along with Cam and those around him, a story you will not want to miss out on.

Sara Flemming is a woman with a mission to help those who cannot help themselves, ten years ago she ran away from a family who made living with them impossible, she had tried many times before, however, each time something happened which dragged her back, before she wanted to, but this time she needed to, but fate was not on her side and now she works for the same Social Services who helped her out of her miserable life those many years ago. Colin Fulton was a young man who got into small town trouble with his little brother and a girl who he would do anything to help, however, when she leaves town without a trace and without looking back, he has to carry on life without her and now he is the Sheriff of the town where he used to run wild with his little brother looking like he is going to follow in his path.
One saturday afternoon, Sara is waking up to start a well needed weekend off after a very rude alarm clock decided to annoy her with its incessant beeping, however, just as she is about to start cleaning up her kitchen, she receives a phone call from work where they need help with a girl, they need someone with her history as she is the only one who might be able to deal with her, however, this day will be one she can;t forget any time soon. As she approaches the girls, she observes that she is trying to look like she has it all together and is even a little bored, however, she sees straight through that to the girl who is angry, frustrated and a little bit sad, so as she walks to her office, she heads straight in without even looking at the girl, she wants to read her file first and get an idea of what she will be dealing with. As she does this, she realises just how much the girl looks like her and has a history like she has, so she invites her to enter the office and talk to her. Meanwhile, Rachael is sat outside in the waiting area but cannot believe that she has been given a choice rather than being told what to do, it is so unusual she is thrown, but this is just the start when Sara is honest with her and straight talking, she feels like she might just be able to talk to her, this is solidified when they go and get pizza for lunch and Rachael opens up about what has been going on in her life.
Colin is dealing with his usual small town policing problems while also rescuing his little brother from a young woman’s clutches, this is easier said than done, so he ends up coming out on patrol instead, but they come back to something a little harder than dog wrangling. Meanwhile, Rachael has been put somewhere temporary while her situation is sorted out, but something spooks her again and she runs away on the bus to somewhere Sara would rather forget, but she is forced to go retrieve her as she has the best rapport with her, but when she gets there and realises she is unharmed and in the Sheriff’s office, what she doesn’t expect to see is who the Sheriff is and her thoughts and feelings about him, however, he is in no doubt about his feelings for her. Will Sara and Colin be able to work together to keep Rachael safe from harm, or will their pasts catch up to all of them in this small town? This is a story of trust, memories, pasts and presents coming together to forge a future from uncertainty which will have you on an emotional rollercoaster as you follow the path as well.

This is the story of Tasha and Levi, Tasha is a vampire with special gifts which she has to hide from her coven, she doesn’t have much affection from her parents, but she adores her little sister and now that Tasha is nearing twenty one years old, after her next birthday she will be conscripted into the vampire army, but she always feels trapped by her coven and the secrets she has to keep, so every night she goes into the forest around her to be free and be herself while nobody is watching. When she does this she can use her gift to sense the world around her and connect with the souls residing within it and her main goal is to find an elusive balck jaguar which has been seen around the base. Levi is a werewolf with a distinctive black pelt, he is a loner and prefers to spend his time in the forest learning about what resides within it when he isn’t hunting to prepare for when he joins with others in a military unit, but this one day both Tasha and Levi run into each other on the boundaries of their respective lands when she believes he is the black jaguar and sensing what the other is, they bite each other in an attack first and ask questions later way that their kinds have been trained to do during the war between their races and afterwards, fully expecting that they will die within a few hours from the poisons contained within each.
As they stand and argues over who bit who first and why, as well as what they are going to do now, so as the poisons flow through their systems, they introduce themselves to each other and although neither wants to be with the other as they die, Levi mentions a cave nearby where they can spend their last few hours together and talk. When they get there and they sit with each other, neither of them can deny a certain attraction fizzling between them, Tasha hasn’t felt like this towards anyone else in her coven and she is both scared and excited by it, but she also feels strangely safe with him, Levi is just as confused at his feelings about Tasha and when they share a kiss as they lay dying on the cave floor, the unfairness of the situation really takes hold, especially when Tasha has a last course of bloodlust, she can’t resists biting Levi and tasting his blood one last time. However, as they bite into each other something happens and they start to heal and recover and one thing leads to another and they are kissing again while still mystified at what has happened until the sun rises and Levi shifts into his wolf form to protect Tasha from the deadly rays, but as night falls they reemerge from the cave and walk back to the boundaries discussing their surroundings on the way.
What should have been a death warrant, was something they couldn’t resist as they agree to meet again the next night and many nights after that, however, as their time together comes to an end they agree to meet again once their conscription ends, however, the war isn’t all it is slated as and the future becomes more uncertain for them every day they are fighting, especially when a new enemy comes to the fore, but will they be able to keep their love a secret and stay alive long enough to allow their plans to come to fruition, or will fate intervene and rip them apart? This is an action packed forbidden paranormal romance with plenty of action thrown in for good measure which will keep you hooked until the end.

This was a cute read after I had just come off a book that was all about the dark side of things. I thought Jordan and axis were hella cute together! Their support of each other through their struggles was really heartwarming. My only issue was that I feel like most things were being told to me more so than me seeing them happen. I wasn’t deeply invested in their story but it was a really cute summer time read.

In His Kiss was a fantastic friends to lovers romance. This is not your everyday romance though, writing friends to lovers is never an easy thing, but Ms. Alise made the transition flawless. Like most friends to lovers romances In His Kiss is full of angst, emotions, and definitely a few twists and turns. My only complaint about In His Kiss is it was too short. Ms. Alise hooked me from the very beginning and next thing I know I’ve read the whole book in one sitting. So if your looking for a great summer read then I definitely recommend In His Kiss by Ms. Ava Alise.

She made a promise to scatter his ashes in the Motherland, Russia. In order to do so, she has to secretly get in and get out in one day. She is at a huge risk to do this. She hooks up with her friend, Tom Grant, who helps her to accomplish this but not without many challenges. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. I got sucked in by all the action. Hold your breath action such as gun fights, knife fights, kidnappings, and other challenges will be experienced. You’ll feel the romance among the characters as they try to feel the love of their relationships through the trials. This was an amazing book, so well-written. The author did a fantastic job of keeping you guessing as to who was on what side. Every time I thought I knew who did it along came a twist. Book #3 in the series.

The well-written characters and twisted plot will grab you in and won’t let you loose til the very end.

Secure Decision is Book 5 in the series. Each book is great on its own and doesn’t not need to be read in order but it makes sense if you can to do so.
West Crockett is running the new training facility and has so much on his plate when he meets Ellie. He saves her from a car wreck and immediately the chemistry is there. However, Wes is one of Ellie’s bosses so how is that going to play out? Ellie West is now running the Equine Therapy Program. She hits a lot of bumps in the the road. Ellie is running from a very crazy and dangerous past. Can she outrun her past or has it caught up with her? Will she be able to walk away safe and sound? Then there is also Wes….will he be able to safe Ellie from her crazy past and save himself too? This book has everything you could want in a great read. This was a great start to a new series, the blurb really made me want to read this and it quite honestly did not disappoint. Really liked Sarah and James relationship the slow burn and the angst was there and honestly, it was written great. Krysten Lyndsay Hager has done it again. I absolutely loved this book. It is a young adult book about Hadley who is having a hard transition as her only friend has moved and has left her as an afterthought. She has decided to spend the summer with her grandparents where she meets new friends and the usual end of middle school into high school drama begins. Her grandparents live next door to a once tv star that is the same age as Hadley and they become friends and that where drama begins because she is not cool enough for the stars friends and they become jealous of her. It was such a well written book and I cannot wait to see what is in store for Hadley and her new friends.

In His Kiss is the first book in The Unrequited Series by Ava Alise. I had previously read a couple of books by this author and had enjoyed them so was looking forward to reading more of her work. I’m glad I chose to read this book as I really enjoyed it. In His Kiss is a great, contemporary, friends to lovers romance. I’m a sucker for just about every romance trope but I do love and angsty friends to lovers romance and In His Kiss fits the bill perfectly. Xia has been best friends with Jordan since they were toddlers in nappies and have been inseparable since. Both have been in love with one another for some time but don’t want to ruin their friendship. But after a drunken night together Jordan declares that I was a mistake. How does their friendship survive this? I loved Jordan and Xia’s story. It has the angst and hurt that you expect from a friends to lovers romance. Both are great characters who are very well written and you just can’t help but hope that they get their deserved HEA. The story is well written and flows well, keeping the reader entertained from start to finish. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this series.

I went blind into this read. At first the forbidden aspect in the title didn’t interest me but the synopsis definitely hooked me. So glad I dived in! The spin on this theme was well thought out. Enjoyed how the characters grew and adjusted to their circumstances. The chemistry between them was awesome. Overall the majority of the story had me on the edge of my seat with the author’s writing style. I will definitely be looking out for the next book to find out how these amazing characters overcome more obstacles the future may hold.

With each book she releases, her attention to detail and mesmerising passion continue to pull me in. If you’re someone that enjoys books that are quick and easy to read while also being spellbinding exploits, these are definitely the books for you- I couldn’t get enough of these books, and managed to read the first three in one day!

Tally and the Angel is the first book in a cute middle-grade children’s contemporary series. Tally is gifted a pendant by her mother, but it is not just any pendant, it has an angel living in it! Tally believes having her very own angel is great and cannot wait to take him on her trip to India with her father. Once in India, she learns of children being kidnapped in the city of Agra, that they are staying in. With the help of her angel Jophiel and a few friends along the way, she begins to solve the mystery of who is taking the children and what has happened to them. I think the author did a great job of using words that middle-grade readers could understand and relate to. As an adult, even I was excited to find out how the book concluded and what the answer to the mystery was. I would highly recommend this book, not only for young middle-grade readers but for adults too. It was a fun book that includes mystery, adventure, friendship, bravery and so much more! The author really makes you feel like you are a part of the adventure and wants you to keep reading to find out what happens. I cannot wait to read where the next adventure is for Tally and Jophiel!

Her Blackened Soul starts with the enchanting story of a young Witch- Lady Isra of the Dark. Isra finds herself beguiled by the Darkness and happens upon a raven who becomes the companion she’s longed for. Isra Sravenheart does a wonderful job with her descriptions with her writing, with an acute attention to detail, the characters and settings can be clearly pictured while the story changes with different settings. She tells a story about a wonderful blooming romance, and has so much potential for continuing the story in her next books. Just like most first books in any series, it is a little bit slow and a little harder to get into, but even with the first sentence she pulls you into the wonderful world of Lady Isra and Astrid.

Her Blackened Heart is the second book of the five book series Her Dark Spells written by best seller Isra Sravenheart. The book moves quickly through the world of Lady Isra, taking us from all of the settings and scenes in a whirlwind of excitement and rising action. While the ending climax and falling action was very short lived- it did leave me wanting more and wondering just what Isra had in store for the next book. The romance she set between Isra and Astrid in Her Blackened Soul truly came to light and fruition in Her Blackened Heart; and the cliffhanger she left us with at the end of the book definitely has me excited to start book three: Her Blackened Rose!

This is the 3rd book in the Antipodes series and I enjoyed this just as much as the first 2. I would really recommend reading the first 2 books to get a better understanding of the characters and their situation and how they got to the point we find them at today. This is a romance but it is such an emotional story dealing with grief, reconnecting love and learning that things aren’t always what they seem and your left not knowing who to trust.
The author does and amazing job with her characters. The main one is Cam. He has dealt with such heartbreak and grief since he left his family and moved into the domes. He is now on the search for answers. But what starts as a search to leave about his dead wife’s past to be able to tell their son turns into a more intriguing story about the domes and the real reason the people were selected.
This story will make you feel every emotion possible, from overwhelming grief about Cams wife, to confusion as Cam gets answers to the questions he has. However like in real life sometimes the answers aren’t what we want or expect to hear.

The Hy Man planet inhabitants have found a new planet to settle on. Men are the rulers but they are only as good as the woman whispering in their ear. The settlers know that others will come to this planet and they must get a good hold of the settlement to show their dominance. Women are treated as breeders only. They are placed in a nurturing shed where the men impregnate them repeatedly. Rules change as the rulers change. This is a story of women coming together to take back some control over their lives.

Forbidden Wolf was such a fun read. I fell into the story and I got lost in the words. I love a good vampire and lycan story but this one just took a hold of me and wouldn’t let go! I loved the story telling, the characters and their development and all the twists and turns. This story felt different from all the rest – it is a love story between two impossible people but it is also so much more than that. It’s also about family, adventure, friendship, self growth and one heck of an ride. I highly recommend this !

Moonlit Kiss by Amy McKinley a fantastic five-star read. This author has a way of sweeping you up into the story and washing you away with the story. This is a beautiful and descriptive story; it will take you away with it. It is part of the Venice Romance, and they can be read as stand-alone stories. Gianna and Sergio will envelop you in to the story, and I don’t want to tell you what the story is as I wont do it justice as the twists in this story will just keep you on your toes.

This is a nice romantic story that has suspenseful elements. It has wonderful flow and the characters have some depth to them. The story touches on the lives of these 3 characters. It doesn’t go too deep but I still liked them. I enjoyed the idea of the “red coat”. It worked nicely into the story. I liked this story but didn’t love it.

Next Door To A Star is a great Young Adult novel from Krysten Lindsay Hager. I had previously read the first 2 Cecily Taylor books by this author so knew that she writes a great young adult novel. I will say that I prefer the Cecily Taylor books but I did really enjoy Next Door To A Star. In my opinion every teenage girl should have to read this book. It’s an amazingly accurate interpretation of how teenage girls treat one another. If you are not one of the elite ‘it’ girls then life can be extremely difficult. Teenage girls can be extremely bitchy and scathing and the author does a fantastic job of showing this in this book. I really enjoyed reading Hadley’s story. She’s never been one of the ‘in crowd’ and has always wanted to be but once she gets in there she realises that the bitchiness and infighting doesn’t end. In fact it can be even worse. I actually found it hard at times to read this book, seeing just how horrible teenage girls can be to one another but it’s so true to life. A definite must read for every teenage girl.

Has the right amount of STEAM with some humor mixed in. Got to love kids mixed in an story especially when they are so real. I got sucked into the story and read way into the night as I could not put it down.

I enjoyed this science fiction story. This is a little different story that I would not normally pick up. It is a great story that has characters that give life to the story. It is a story full of adventure. It is a story about Planet Hy Man and a group of ceilbate people who are determined to stay that way until they find a planet they can live on. Planet Hy Man is a pure planet until this group arrives. Now that they are there things seem to change. Life goes crazy until a leader emerges and creates order. What happens next you will want to find out. I had no problems connecting to the characters and they made me want to see what would happen next. This was a fun and entertaining story and I am happy I picked it up. I recommend this book.
