Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection Book 1) by A.C. Kramer – Review by Lauren West

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I cannot resist a good dark romance, and this was one that everything rolled all into one. Suspense, murder, lust , and lots of drama.
One invite changes it all for Sydney during her Spring Break. What started as a game turns out to be just as it states.. “Truth or Kill.” Sydney is alluring, confident, and intelligent. She was very blunt and honest and she was no fool at all during this book. When she meets Kage at the resort its instant that they have a connection. As a team up they begin to play the dangerous game knowing to play is to survive. The more they fight for survival the more they fall for each other in the process. While Sydney may be that wide eyed girl its clear that Kage is as anti-hero as they come. This story was a wild ride that will have you on edge until the end.

Distant Memories (Nurse Morgan Series Book 2) by Kate MacInnis – Review by Jo Frizzell

Distant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book TwoDistant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book Two by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this continuation of Morgan’s story! I love her personality and the way she interacts with the world around her. The people she has surrounded herself with are great too, and all of them are so unique and play a different role for her. The Wilkersons make me laugh with their very distinct but interesting personalities and the way they interact with her and those who know about or see them. The illustration of them and the much less tolerated Esmeralda was interesting in the way Morgan reacted to or related with them. It definitely was fabulous and I’m glad I continued it!

One In A Billion is the third book in the Pierce Brothers series by Belinda Williams. I will always snap up a copy of any of Belinda Williams’ stories as they release because she never fails to deliver a very entertaining read. I have enjoyed all her books, so far, and this story was no exception. This one also turned out to be one of my favourite reads from her (to date).
This is a seriously fun romantic comedy, a ‘billionaire’ romance- with humour, banter, chemistry, and just enough tension to keep things interesting.
A notoriously private tech billionaire. A determined journalist on the hunt for a career saving story….. and a tempting offer that can’t be passed up, all make for a really fun read!
Another captivating story in this superb series!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Belinda Williams!

Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 2) by CJ Cartwright – Review by Christie Mitchum

Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder #2)Body Checked by C.J. Cartwright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Body Checked is the second book in the Astoria Bay Thunder series, and as with the first book, I loved it!!!

This time Bridger and Tia are sharing their road to HEA with us. They were introduced to us in the first book. Bridger is a teammate of Levi’s, and Tia is Brynn’s best friend. The fireworks between them were evident in the first book. Now, we get to see what was really happening that weekend of the calendar photo shoot. Levi and Brynn obviously weren’t the only ones having extra fun.

Bridger and Tia are both trying to change the course of their present lives due to mistakes in their pasts. So, hooking up wouldn’t be such a great idea, but the sexual chemistry is just too much to resist. They agree to a no strings, purely physical fling for just the weekend. Who knew the pull would go much deeper than just sex? Would they be able to overcome their pasts to have a happy future together?

Both Bridger and Tia made some really bad decisions in their pasts, and both are still paying for them, although Tia’s situation is more sinister. Both are complete opposites of Levi and Brynn, but they had the same kind hearts as their teammate and best friend. I really enjoyed getting to know them better. They were both complex and complicated, and I loved how Cartwright peeled back each layer with perfect timing.

Cartwright does indicate that parts of the storyline correlate with the first book, but there is also a good bit of the story that occurs before and after that weekend. In addition, it was interesting witnessing the weekend through their eyes. As with the first book, the author completely pulled me in and I was under her spell until the very last page. Looking forward to more in the series!

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow!!! This book is brilliant!!! Deviously delicious and dark– I love A.C Kramer (and her alter-ego) sooooooo sooooooo much!!!
Truth Or Kill is the second book in the Twisted Legends Collection by A.C. Kramer. Twisted Legends is a collaboration by 10 talented authors who each bring you their own twisted and reimaged take of a famous urban legend. Each book is a standalone- but after reading ‘Truth Or Kill’, I am hooked on the theme and can’t wait to explore the rest of the series to see what twisted delights the other authors have produced.
For Truth Or Kill, Ms. Kramer has used the urban legend of “Killswitch”- about a videogame that self-destructs. And let me tell you- it made for a riveting read! What we get is an addictive romantic suspense about a quest for vengeance while revealing some dark truths using a ‘game’ as a means to that end. We join some college students on a retreat at a wilderness lodge during spring break. Without giving too much away and spoiling the story for you, the characters soon find themselves swept into a deadly game where the stakes are much higher than they realise. Not everything is as it seems. We ride along on this dark adventure as things turn deadly! And Wow! I love every single second!!! The twist and turns were quite clever and the whole story was really well thought out, creative, and so well executed! I am really hoping that we might get another couple of books from A.C. Kramer that follow on from “Truth Or Kill” – because I seriously need Judge, and Loki’s stories too. Hint, Hint! Pretty, pretty please Ms. Kramer….
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a riveting story with a bit of a dark and mysterious feel, steaming hot chemistry, and cleverly twisted reimaginings!!!
Happy Reading!

Thank You, A.C. Kramer!

The Happily Ever Bookstore by Bernadette Marie is a wonderful soft romance. It follows the love story of three different couples through a few weeks of time. The overarching theme of love at first sight makes the perfect backdrop for a evening at home reading with a candle. The interwoven stories allow the reader to really settle in. Just a perfect book if you want something to really give you a true love, happy ever after boost. I loved it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Traits are back, still on the run and fighting against the Coalition that wants them dead. As the fight continues others join. Half bloods, who are treated like second class citizens, fight for the right to be an equal part of the vampire nation. Will the war remain hidden from the humans- as it must? Will the half bloods succeed? Will the Traits be able to keep their children safe? Will everyone survive the fight? What side will win?
This is the third installment in the Donovan Trait series. I enjoyed this one as much as the first two. I would strongly suggest reading this series in order just for the background and charter building. I would recommend reading not only this book but, this series.

If you’re looking for a dark read that pulls you in, this is the book for you.
Sydney gets invited to a lodge for spring break, when she gets there she quickly realizes it’s not the type of lodge she had imagined. She is also still trying to figure out why she was even invited. At check in she meets Kage.

Kage realizes there is something different about Sydney, she isn’t like the others. They start to connect and get closer. But is he really a friend or does he have other plans for her?

Things start to take a scary twist and get even more interesting as the game continues. You will have to 1-click to see what happens. The author does a great job with her writing, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. Some things did make me cringe and I will warn that there may be triggers for some. I look forward to reading more from this author.

If you’ve been in a reading funk lately, like me, it’s been hard to find a book to catch and hold your attention. Let me tell you, THIS is the author and book to cure you. This author has a way with words and story development that will keep you awake all night reading until you’re finished. I’m not in high school anymore, yet this brought me right back there, with the drama, bullying, hormonally-driven emotions, irrational thinking, and questionable decisions. The characters were easy to relate to, and I really liked how the author nailed the different social classes and styles. Nathan and Holly both went through a rollercoaster that is high school, with a twist. Great coming of age story. I must say, I would love to read more on Gothlet!

I have read a few different books from this author and absolutely have loved and enjoyed every single one. And this book was no different than the rest.
Right away from the start this book had me wanting to keep reading, it sucked me in and kept me on the edge of my seat. Nathan as a character was very secretive, and never to except the expected with him. I absolutely loved how holly was a very well caring and sweetheart of a character. But can holly still be in love with a man like Nathan? I absolutely loved the way the author wrote in the way the characters made choices to better themselves.
The plot for this book progressed which was so entertaining and well developed was not able to put it down. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more. It was enthralling, emotional, love, suspenseful, it keep me intrigued and could not put it down, a wonderful read all around.

As they work to stay safe and find the secrets behind the Great Lie you learn more about the pure bloods past. You also get to know more of the Trait family especially Marilyn. As the fight unfolds they start to try and repair what has been broken by the Coalition. Definitely a good series to read!

Power Play (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 1) by CJ Cartwright – Review by Christie Mitchum

Power Play (Astoria Bay Thunder #1)Power Play by C.J. Cartwright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m a sucker for second chance romances, and I LOVED this one by CJ Cartwright!

Levi and Brynn were once star-crossed lovers, and they were destined for a wonderful life together. But, circumstances and some manipulation by others, ended their romance ended ten years ago. They were just young two kids on the cusp of adulthood. Despite the heartbreak, they both thought that first love would diminish with time, but when the two inadvertently meet again, they quickly realize how very wrong they were. As they spend time together, and those old feelings flare again, could this be a new start for them?

Brynn and Levi are the type of characters I fall for hook, line, and sinker. Brynn has been looking for her own freedom for a long time, just not from her ex-husband, but her family as well. None of them believed she could be independent and follow her dreams. Despite all of that, she proved them wrong. I admired her perseverance and determination to achieve her goals.

Levi, himself, had a tough life but in a different sense than Brynn did. But, just like her, he was determined to make his dreams of becoming a pro hockey player a reality. Both had such wonderful hearts, I could really see why they were so perfect together.

My favorite books are those that completely capture your attention, the ones that you can’t stop reading until you reach the end, but hate telling the characters good-bye. I loved the story that Cartwright gave me. It was the perfect balance of steam and an emotional romance, complete with a great cast of secondary characters.

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! (Donovan Trait Book 2)Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! by Seelie Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! is the second book of the Donovan Trait series. The story picks up where book one ended; if you have not read book one I would suggest reading it first. Trait and his love interest Judge Shirley Magnusen are set to marry. Since it is a vampire marriage it is far more complicated than a human one. The couple must sign an agreement with the Vampire Coalition. 1. Magnusen must be turned and 2. conception and pregnancies of any kind the Coalition has control of. When it is discovered that the couple did not uphold their end of the deal they go on the run while trying to find a solution. Will they find one? Will they be safe? Can they protect their family? Will the changes lead to bigger issues among the vampire community?

I would recommend reading this story if you enjoyed the first and want to see what adventures await the couple.

Distant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book TwoDistant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book Two by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Remember our friend Morgan , the ER nurse had an op and it very near killed her but she pulled through thankfully but she walked away with that special gift , well some will call it a curse but I think it’s a gift in any case , she’s kind enough to share her friends with us and let me tell you something if you thought round 1 was entertaining , hold on to your hats because this one is even better 😉

So we pick up where we left off really and all seems good in Morgan’s life , her love life seems to be bliss , her work situation it as good as it gets and she seems to live in harmony with her “other” residents but life isn’t a bed of roses and as life would have it drama is sure to toss her life salad a bit …..

Morgan is a tough cookie though she can handle things and in her own way so you go girl !

Thank you for letting me sit on the sidelines and watch , I laughed so hard at times and on more than 1 occasion I thanked my lucky stars I wasn’t in your shoes 😉

Keep safe and hopefully we can catch up soon ❣️📕

First, We Kill All the Lawyers (Donovan Trait Book 1)First, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It starts with an odd text, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all lawyers! Starting with you!”, thinking it is nothing but a bad joke lawyer Donovan Trait brushes it off. Soon after Trait finds himself in a hospital bed recovering from a stab wound that should have killed him. Trait has a secret though….he is a vampire and not that easy to kill. Even after being stabbed Trait does not really think there is much of a threat, that is until another attempt is made on his life. Now Trait is faking his demise in order to try to discover what is happening. Soon others in the legal field are murdered as well. Why is this happening? Who wants him dead? Why kill the others? Are those he cares about being targeted as well?

This is the first book I have read by Kay. I enjoyed the characters and can’t wait to see what comes next! I would recommend this book.

Entertaining till the last page with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. By having read previous works of the author’s I highly recommend this one and many more.

Power Play: A Second Chance Hockey Romance (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 1) by CJ Cartwright was a complete hit for me. I am all about the second chance romances, combined that with sports and you have me hooked. From the first chapter I was rooting for Brynn and Levi. CJ did an amazing job bringing the characters to life, I felt like I was there and apart of the team. After heartbreak and years apart how do you trust your first love again, is it even possible to let go of the past? There were so many will they wont they moments I was on the edge of my seat. I devoured this book and the second in the series in one night. This is a must read.

When Tia and Brody meet its instant chemistry and decide to give themselves a weekend of fun, but is a weekend really enough??
This was a new series for me and I have to admit I couldn’t put it down. While you don’t need to read the first in the series it does fill in a bit of wholes and is where Bridger and Tia are first introduced to readers. While trying to put his past behind him and move on with his new life, his wife and unborn twins, Ciaran is plagued with dreams of the long dead priest Ruadhan stealing it all away from him. As Aodhan plans a wedding of his own, the two brothers try to decipher the meaning of these dreams that are causing Ciarans anxiety and inner turmoil. Surely there is no way that Ruadhan, the chief priest, loyal to his goddess, suffered the same fate as they did and arose to tell the tale? Until an empty tomb is found by Aodhan and the other archaeologists, and more pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Will Ciaran be able to save his family and his new life? Or will his forgotten past come to steal the present as well?
I am so happy that there will be another book in this series. I love Ciaran’s and Caitlin’s story and was so easily swept into their lives. This installment was so exciting and has plenty of suspense, mystery, with twists and turns you never see coming. I loved learning more about Aodhan and seeing that he found someone like Niamh. This series is just so captivating and heartwarming and the characters possess so much realism. I thoroughly recommend starting this series at book 1, The Cross of Ciaran, and joining Andrea Matthews as she takes you on a 1500 year adventure!!!

This was a solid book with a good, intriguing storyline that keeps your attention. There was a lot of depth to the characters, especially the main characters, Holly and Nathan. Holly, new to town wants to fit in, but is immediately rejected but the popular group. Even so, she is still interested in Nathan and learns he’s been keeping a secret. Will it all unravel? Can real relationships be built on secrets and lies?

This was a well-written, interesting story. The authors writing style reels the reader in and the topics covered within the story are relevant to teen life today. I could see this being a popular read among teens and young adults for that reason. I was engaged in the story all the way through and enjoyed it overall.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

I couldn’t wait for this book to come out and I was not disappointed. It is one intense ride. Triad Resumption is a dark and powerful paranormal MC romance and the sixth book in the series. Book 5 A Tormented Man’s Soul: Part One was raw and gritty and broke my heart and this one is just the same. It is full of emotions, pain, and sorrow, heartbreak, and crushed and tormented soul and all the feelings are palpable as we journey along on this fight.

I recommend reading all the previous books in the series. There are all the other MC characters along with their backstories and other important information you should know before starting this book.

Chains is a complex man and his torment didn’t stop after his rescue; he is a broken and haunted man. Now he must face the demons of his past to have a future he wants. With his MC brothers, Jackson and Winnie at his back he must become the dark heartless, ruthless, and violent enforcer to find the enemy.

I love this series.

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla, #1)The Hunted by S.B. Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Apparently, I have been craving some major Vampire vs. Vampire hunter action. Along with reading this novel, I also was one of the many that have gotten hooked on the show First Kill, and I have to say, this novel took precedence over my show binging while recovering from a cold, which says a lot! I absolutely loved the way the characters developed over the course of this adventure, and how they just couldn’t keep away from one another. Action, undeniable chemistry, and two crazy people by their own right, and even more so together!

This author has a special talent when it comes to starting the novel off, and keeping the readers nose deep in the pages until the very end. At least, that’s why I think, as this is the first, and certainly not the last novel I will be reading by them, especially when it comes to the sassy and egotistically combination that are Sam and Layla! Well done, will be reading this series and recommending it, no doubt.

The Vilification of Aqua Marine (Working Mask, #1)The Vilification of Aqua Marine by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

Megan certainly keeps her readers on their toes with her eclectic stories. She is not a writer who is boxed into one genre and that is what I like about her. The Vilification of Aqua Marine was originally a short play that Megan had written that she turned to a book. Lucky for us.

There is lots of action, thrills, drama, mayhem and surprises. It is a fun Superheroes vs Supervillains story with some elements of comic books. I don’t read blurbs as I like to go in blind with no preconceived ideas about a story and Megan does the unexpected and that is what makes her stories great. I love the unique characters.

This is not my normal reading genre, but I enjoyed this new world Megan has created and was pleasantly drawn right into the story as I know you will be too.

I look forward to future books.

I read this book over a very short period of time simply because it was impossible to put down. I love the way she builds her characters and that as the reader I can relate to some of the things going on in their lives and that helps me to feel like I am a part of the story too.
Sol and Ember were great characters and the connection they developed and the similar interest they had made them fit perfectly together. I really enjoyed how the author threw in how Ember had a long-time crush and that had the chance of becoming more.
Overall I highly recommend this book and any others you may come across by this author as they will not disappoint you!
