Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection Book 1) by A.C. Kramer – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sydney is invited to go to The Lodge with some classmates for Spring Break. What she thinks is going to be a vacation spent with hoity-toity privileged rich kids….but it turns out to be anything but that! She finds herself as a pawn in a game of Truth or Kill. Being that she doesn’t have the secrets, or want to know their secrets, she needs to find out how to survive when she is expendable to all the other players. She does find herself drawn to Kage…but he seems to have his own agenda.
Kage is a dark, yet somehow also intriguing, character. He trusts no one, despite wanting to have Sydney for himself. She must prove herself…which turns out to be difficult to read at times. Understanding why things have to happen and reading them actually happening is tormenting. However, the sheer ruthlessness and depravity of the game was captivating.
I found myself pulled into this story and couldn’t step away from it…even though it felt like I needed to at times. It is captivating. Sydney and Kage are both strong characters. Sydney is not afraid to stand up for herself or take people’s crap…but she also knows when to follow someone else’s lead and align herself with people for a common goal. Overall, an entertaining story that I enjoyed reading!

I have a new favorite Genre. Author. Both! I finished this novel yesterday and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. The way that the author wrote the story, integrating the characters and the emotions and the points of view throughout, as well as establishing the scene and allowing for the reader to be completely immersed in the Lodge and the Game.

J, K, and L’s backstory is immaculately woven and explains why they live the way they live, and what their endgame is. I will most certainly be reading more by this author and have sent a link to this lovely literary adventure to a few folks already. Was there a Game? I guess you will have to read this thriller and find out! Amazing, just didn’t want it to end!

Remi is a self-made billionaire with a past that has hardened him and has him living in a perpetual dark place. Audri, his best-friend’s sister, is successful in her own right and is working for Remi. She has always had a special place in her heart for Remi…and now she wants to help him out of that dark place, while fighting her own darkness. Their love is forbidden and blurs many lines…but also reveals secrets that could destroy them. Can they overcome the darkness…or will they be destined to dwell there forever?!?
First of all…this is not your normal brother’s best friend story…this is so much more!! There were so many twists and turns…and their pasts have pushed them to be the successful people they are today…but those same pasts threaten to tear them down and apart. I was sucked into this story til the very end. A great book by a new-to-me author. I will definitely be checking out what they write next!

This is the third book in this series…and this one is all about Krystina.
Krystina plans to travel the world and blog about it (and hopefully become famous doing it). However, when her childhood frenemy, Loukas, tags along…Krystina feels like that plan is down the drain. As the two find the balance of being in each other’s spaces…they find themselves meeting obstacles that Loukas helps Krystina through. Add in some feelings…a missing grandpa mystery…and some good ole friends-to enemies-to friends-to maybe more?!?…and you have got this story in a nutshell.

There were emotional ups and downs during this story which kept me engaged the whole time. I enjoyed reading Krystina’s story. I have read the previous books and highly suggest reading them as well (although you don’t need to in order to understand this story). Another good book in this series.

The Vilification of Aqua Marine (Working Mask, #1)The Vilification of Aqua Marine by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this book. This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. This is the first book in a new series for this author which I really enjoyed. It is a great start and I can’t wait to see what is next. This is a well written story about a set of parents where one is a supervillain and the other is a superhero. Then you have the child who is somewhere in between them and just plain a work in progress. Aqua Marine is a great character who just wants to be a superhero but there are alot of ups and downs. You don’t want to miss what happens with the characters in this story. They are strong, creative, unique characters that bring life to the story. They truly made the story for me. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. There is great growth throughout which made the story easy to read and made it entertaining. This is a great story you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail Order Bride by Debra Parmley – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides SeriesIsabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides Series by Debra Parmley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance, which had me hooked from start to finish. Although becoming a mail-order bride can be a dangerous thing for a woman to do, it’s the only option left for Isabella. Who having arrived in America from Sweden, suffers the death of her parents and then looses her job when the factory burns down. Isabella starts to communicate by letter with Donald Jenks, a wealthy man from Yellow Springs Ohio who wants a wife. Donald describes Isabella’s dream home, and he appears to be a perfect husband for her. However, she has to reach Ohio safely before she can even meet Donald, and with white slavers abducting females from the train this puts her in danger. On the train she meets ‘Tom’, a Pinkerton agent, who is on the case of the disappearing women, and he’s Isabella’s only hope when she’s selected to be the next victim.
Even if Isabella is saved by Tom, it’s not guaranteed that she will get her HEA with Donald, as Isabella starts to wonder why such a successful and handsome businessman would need a mail-order bride. After all, he could have had his pick of the young ladies near Yellow Springs. This is a romance with plenty of drama and suspense, and the plot had many twists in it that kept me both gripped and guessing as to Isabella’s outcome. The descriptive narrative and added historical details brought both the setting and era vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the storyline. The characters were well described and I felt engaged with Isabella and her plight, and was hoping that she would get her HEA. An entertaining read and one which I definitely recommend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ballet School Rumours (Amberwood Hall Ballet School Adventure Book 3) by Eleanor Dixon – Review by Maryn Belling

Many readers will discover Amberwod Hall’s students are like their own classmates despite the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean between the UK and the US. The universal languages of classical ballet and modern dance join characters across more than 200 years. With both age-appropriate social foibles (gossip, irritation with younger students) and desires for freedom, even boarding-school students experience natural consequences.

Parents, teachers, and caregivers will appreciate interwoven messages about work-ethic, teamwork, responsibility, kindness, honesty, and friendship. As the adage goes “when you spill tea, it stains you, too”.

Students will enjoy the escape to England with both real academic contexts and supernatural bonuses coinciding with the competitive ballet school environment. It’s an especially good selection for students who aren’t ready for the more mature content of Gossip Girl or Pretty Little Liars series but have outgrown My Sister the Vampire series.

New vocabulary opportunities for students fluent in US English are also present.

Vive La Résistance (Donovan Trait Book 3) by Seelie Kay – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Vive la ResistanceVive la Resistance by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Donovan Trait and his wife Shirley Magnusen are back as the hottest Lawyer in town and the Judge who snagged him in this third part of their story, so far, they are still running away from the Vampire Coalition after her chemical turning and the birth of their half blood children. The Coalition are not giving up on their plan to arrest them though, thanks to their revelations around the Great Lie and the corruption which lies at the heart of this ancient institution.

This escape from death and refusal to surrender has led the Coalition to widen their net and start punishing half bloods across the world until they turn themselves in. This leads Donovan and Shirley on a mission to not just protect their family, but the lives of the half bloods as well, but it isn’t as easy as they would like it to be. They are not just targeting vampires, but humans and Were’s as well, as if they haven’t experienced enough prejudice and cruelty in their lives already!

As the Coalition’s campaign ramps up, so does the Trait’s as they use their minds rather than force to get their message across and with the help of a few well place Were helpers and some nudging of the human authorities, they get the message out that half bloods should make themselves known in a safe way. When the Traits realise that if they are to save millions, they may have to sacrifice themselves in the process, but do they have the courage to act out their plan, or will the Coalition get to their hidden island before they can? This is another exciting instalment into this series full of vampires, lawyers and other supernatural creatures as time runs out in this fight for survival on a global scale which will keep you engrossed throughout.

This book is the 2nd book in a series. I loved the first book and was so excited to read this one. I felt like the 1st book was almost a vampire tale of domestic violence. At the beginning, I was a little disappointed in the first half of the book. Julia was kind of wishy washy and completely naive about Samuel. But then I really got into the book! The second half was so good! The Resistance’s fight with Valentino picked up. Julia definitely took a step back into domestic violence which is so true to what many women experience. I loved it and cannot wait to read the 3rd book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This novel stole a couple days of my time and I am not at all mad about it. Once I started reading it, it was nearly impossible to put down. This book has it all: action, sci-fi, romance, and suspense. On top of the amazing plot, the characters are incredible. I still cannot decide if I prefer Mia or Castor because they are both loveable in their own ways.

This book can be read as a stand alone, but I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you go back and read the first in this series. This author knows how to captivate a reader and steal a couple hours of your time. Before you know it, it is midnight and your partner is asking why you are still up reading.

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the twist and turns. The plot of the story was unique and gripping. I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the end. The author does an amazing job with the characters. I love how strong and determined Sydney’s character is. I also love how dark Kage is. His struggle to do what he needs to so or protect the woman he has fallen for is interesting to read, you can feel his struggle. This is a very dark romance, with twists and turns. I loved the idea of a game being played and making a decision between being truthful or losing their life.

Sydney was invited to join her friends on a retreat however this is no normal retreat. There is a sinister plot at hand which will see some of the people on the retreat end up dead. But the reason for this will be a shock to everyone involved.

Sydney needs to find out the reason she was brought here and find a way to survive and escape with her life.

Kage is a worker at the retreat or so everyone thinks. However he has a secret. Kage is a killer and also one of the 3 masterminds behind the game of Truth or kill. His plan is to stick to the plan and make sure the people on the retreat get what they deserve. However Sydney wasn’t part of that plan and her appearance has changed things. As his feelings for her grow he doesn’t want her to be another murder victim he wants her for himself but will she be able to deal with everything he has done or will she know to much and reject him which means she will have to die.

The author has created a brilliant and original story that, so far, is not getting old. Each story progresses on from the last and builds on the characters and their journey. This is a fantastic story that I would strongly recommend to everyone.

This gives the novel a better perspective. It gives you high school drama as well as a lie that needs to be protected. If you like YA will like this story of Holly and Nathan. This book was so good from start to finish! I was highly invested as I read, and the book certainly kept me interested as I read. I was hooked and could not put it down! Amazing writing and story!

What I loved most about this book was the inner emotions of the characters. I can say honestly for us all that at at least in some point in our lives we wanted to make our parents proud no matter what it took! I really felt for Aqua Marine, her mother wanted one life set for her that she felt was best, but yet Aqua Marine wanted to make another path, her own path! The book was inspirational and yet deep feeling at the same time. I loved the author’s writing and way with words! I laughed out loud so many times, and I loved the light bigheartedness of this book. It was so fluffy and fun to read! Really enjoyed it and truly loved it!

Amazing book, that with no doubt, I am going to recommend to everyone! It was so good and a great and fun read! For sure a must read as well! Really was a read that felt good to read too! Loved it!

Devil’s Breath by Lang Johnson – Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Devil's BreathDevil’s Breath by Lang Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“There are some who can live without wild things, and there are those who cannot.” -Aldo Leopold

This book, Devils Breath, really surprised me with how much I really enjoyed it. I think we have all come to expect the same storylines from romance novels no matter what genre they fall into. This was a romantic suspense, femme fatale type romance. Devils Breath was fresh and new for me and I was pulled into the book immediately. Cover to cover Cassius, Sera, and Raine kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a wild thrill ride from start to finish and the ending was great. I really like the main characters from the start. Sera’s journey within herself, from caged, monstrous, ice queen, with ultimate control, made by her father, to the warm, welcoming, emotional woman she really was just looking for someone to show her what love really means was pretty powerful after everything she’d had to endure her entire life. Cassius with his stoicism, and endless patience but ruthlessness when needed made him very endearing to me as a reader. No one in real life is perfect, everyone is fighting some type of battle we know nothing about. The author made the characters so real and human I felt like they could jump off the page. There were even a few times in the book that made me laugh and giggle while reading it. The author’s ability to stitch all of that together was flawless and everything came together very well. 5 thumbs up for Devils Breath. I would definitely recommend giving it a try especially if your tired of that same old romance troupe.

With the help of Father Mike, Ciaran has been able to keep his 1500 year old past a secret from Caitlin and others for almost a year. With two out of three of the entombed priests missing, the rumor mill is flying, and Ciaran and Caitlin embark on a new expedition to Ireland. To the site of the tombs where Ciaran lay still all those years, but the homeland that Ciaran remembers has vastly changed, the land and water engulfing most of what he used to know. He can only think of his lost wife Aisling, the chance he has to find her body and finally put her to rest properly, and of his brother Aodhan, who was entombed next to him, the only priest left whose body never vanished, sleeping as he was. His plans for them must be put on hold however, when a serial rapist and murderer starts roaming the land. Something about the attacks are familiar to Ciaran, a 1500 year old memory he long thought buried. The book of Carraig is the only thing that could answer these burning questions he has about himself and his old life, but can he find it before someone else does? He will have to risk his life and his secret to bring an end to this turmoil.
Great continuation of the series! This installment ups the tension ten fold as Ciaran struggles more and more to keep his secret!!! I seriously could not read fast enough to find out what happens to Caitlin, Ciaran, and Bradiegh. This series just keeps getting better and better. There are so many strong emotions in this book as Ciaran looks back on his former life while wrestling with the guilt of his new found happiness with Caitlin. It really struck a chord with me. I can’t wait to dig into the final book! I highly recommend this series has it all! Great world building, action, suspense, romance, and wonderful characters!

After a gruesome ritual for his goddess leaves him entombed, comatose in a cave for 1500 years, the Celtic Priest Ciaran, is finally unearthed by Archaeologist Caitlin O’Connell. The exquisite find turns from amazing to extraordinary when two other tombs are located in close proximity to the first. Before even the first tests can be done however, the priest’s body disappears without a trace leaving Ms. O’Connell with more questions than answers.
Awake and Wandering the streets of New York Ciaran finds sanctuary in the only thing he can find familiarity in, the Church. There he finds Father Mike who helps him get accustomed to this strange new world. Moonlighting as the new handyman, Ciaran tries his best to deal with his past, that is, until his present comes knocking at the door in the form of Father Mike’s niece, Caitlin O’Connell. Still distraught and determined to find her missing Priest, she is very suspicious of her Uncle Mike’s new handyman. Will all of Ciaran’s secrets unravel because of this persistent woman? What would happen to him if she found out?
I loved this book. It was so engaging and fun to read. I really loved Caitlin’s character, her stubbornness and her spirit. The pace and the flow seemed so effortless that I just got absorbed by the story not even realizing how long I was reading for. It was so easy to get emotionally invested. Such a unique and heartwarming tale with great character development. You really root for Caitlin and Ciaran! I really enjoyed seeing Ciaran react to the present and to the way people spoke. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!! I highly recommend this book!!!!

Rhiannon, aka Aqua Marine, is undergoing many of the struggles some of us may feel empathy with. I found this book quite entertaining. Though the story takes a few plot twists, the humor is enough that my family wanted to know why I was chuckling. I found the characters relatable, even being superheros. Rhiannon could be any of us. The author has a way of writing that makes you chuckle and laugh as you read. I love this author’s writing. It’s contemporary and has a way of pulling you in all the way until the end. I was engaged from the start and couldn’t put it down until the end. You have to try this one. I know you won’t be sorry. Fantasy lovers must read this one.

This was part 2 which picked up where A Tormented Man’s Soul left off. This book takes you for an intense adventure with Chains and the rest of the Grimms Wolves MC. I have read this series since the beginning and I love the action, adventure, romance, and suspense that come with it. This book delivers sooo much into the story and gives us insight and backstory into the story of Chains, Winnie and Jackson. Every character has their own quirks and personality. What makes the story so fantastic is that that author carries each person over to each book and it’s just like the story continues with different perspectives. They are all one big family. The plot always flows smooth, even from book to book. No choppiness. There will be plot twists or surprises and I do enjoy those. This is one of my favorite MC series. I enjoy the series because of the writing. I can feel the emotion in the writing. I am looking forward to the next new book.

This was an incredible story. When I first started reading it I didn’t realise it was the third book in the series so I quickly red the reviews on the first two and felt like I had an idea of what was happening but to be honest it didn’t really matter because the story was so exciting to read I just fell into the storyline and wasn’t let out until the very end. I have read a few books by this author which I was I automatically just grabbed this one and as usual it was everything I’ve come to expect from her – engaging read, great characters, well written and much more. I really liked Donovan and Shirley, what a great couple, they made some pretty huge sacrifices in this story with consequences that may not of made for a happy ending.
I really enjoyed this story and I will definitely be making a point to read the first two in the series now!

This amazing author has done it again! I have loved this series since book one, and part one of this book was mind blowing, and this one I must say exceeded my expectations! Loved it so freaking much!

I loved this one takes place where we left off with Chains. Winnie and Jackson also had a very important role in this story. I loved this book that when you think you got stuff figured out, more things happen. The darkness that comes from within was really deep. The secrets, you name it! I was hooked. The author does such an amazing job in writing their books! I am always hooked! With this installment specifically, I laughed, cried, and I felt so freaking much! I loved that aspect so much. The book and conclusion to this book was deep, and as a reader and fan, that was exactly what I wanted! This book was a truthfully amazing read!

I loved this installment so much! If you have not read part one, or other books, please go back and read them! I highly recommend this must read book, as well as author! Very much a high recommendation!

The debut novel for this author is amazing. I am definitely now a fan. Sera is an assassin, amongst other things, and very good at what she does. Her next mark, Cassius, is not like any one she has ever met. These characters come right off the page, and not just the main characters. The supporting characters were just as well developed. I was so lost in the pages that it was easy to forget the world around me. The story was suspenseful and sexy. I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us in the future.

Saved by Love is the seventh book in Bellevue Bullies series. This is a wonderfully written story that will definitely have your emotions all over the place. I suggest grabbing some kleenex you will definitely need some. This is a fairly new author to me and holy cow I was expecting to be hooked so quickly. Although this can be read as a standalone I’m definitely going to go check out the other books in this series. This author knocked it out of the park with this one her style of writing and attention to detail along with her creative characters that are relatable and fully developed wow. I wasn’t prepared for the emotional rollercoaster ride this story takes you on but man oh man its totally worth a few tears. I absolutely loved Evan and Callie’s story . He’s struggling with mental health issues and she’s a fierce gymnast who is determined to to help Evan . These two are just amazing together. I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This book was written in such a way that you can read it as a standalone! The details and explanations are so perfectly wound into this new story that anyone can pick it up and enjoy the adventure within. For me, it was such a joy to be back with these familiar friends – Gloria, Caleb, Savvy, Elisabeth, Jonathan, and (of course) Morgan. I highly enjoyed the new twists in the story and how Morgan’s abilities are ever-evolving. I did not enjoy one aspect of this book, though – when it ended! I felt like I had breezed through the entire thing, was just getting really into the story, and then BAM! It was over! I need more!! I love a book that leaves me yearning for the next one. I hope there is another installment soon because I need to continue on this journey with Morgan.

Although Evan has been a fantasy to her for years as her “dad” plays with his twin brother, so she must walk carefully regarding pursuing him, until they see him running and then all bets are off and Callie declares to the girls that he is hers for the taking.

As Evan and Callie get closer can they maintain a relationship or will other factors knock them off course.

This is the first book I have read in this series or by the author and I can confirm that this can be read as a stand-alone book, although it has piqued my interest to read the series from the beginning and the other spin off series to see how the other characters got together.

The two main characters were brilliantly developed, and I like the fact that the main male character struggled with his mental health and issues which normally are portrayed by female characters in books. The chemistry between the two of them charged off the page and was crafted beautifully within the story. I loved the way that Callie’s life starts off rough and with her sister’s sheer grit and determination to get her were she is has given Callie and great role model to follow and then with Nico’s fatherly protection it was lovely to finally see her have love in both a relationship and family. The story was well developed and flowed easily and held my interest until the end.

I look forward to reading more books by this author and hopefully add a few more book boyfriends to my ever-growing list.
