A beautiful story of family and love. I missed reading the first book but had no issue reading the story of Jack and Mariella. Jack met Mariella years before when she was selling postcards at the Colosseum in Rome when he was stationed there. Jack returned to the states with the plan to bring Mariella to the States after World War Two. They continued to write each other and the day finally came when Jack could return to be with Mariella and ultimately facilitate Mariella’s immigration to the United States. The book takes you on an emotional ride as the young couple realize that they both need to transition to their new lives as a couple and help each other as cultural differences pop up. I really enjoyed reading the book and connected to the characters.

This was a very interesting story. I enjoyed it a lot. Loving music, the storyline between Dani and Nick/Nicki was intriguing and multi-layered, but it also takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions. I am glad there was a lot of background of Dani and Nick as kids, because that really sets the stage for the story and the flashbacks fill in the gaps. There could be some triggers related to addiction and some family relationship triggers. This was a quick and easy read and again, I really enjoyed it.

The first book in The Oath Series, Finding Love, caught me by complete surprise. This is the first book I’ve read by Lacey Furr but it will definitely not be the last. I thought Finding Love was going to be your typical rock star story, but was wonderfully surprised when it turned into so much more! Loch and Hailey’s instant chemistry was mesmerizing, but there was so much more to their story. There is heartbreak, mental health struggles, healing, drama, romance, and so much more! I like that Lacey Furr was not afraid to touch on some sensitive topics in this book. She tackled them with relative ease and sensitivity. The other members of Loch’s band, The Oath, also played a major role in this story, which I liked. Overall, the world building was amazing (I felt like I was jumping into the cool water or picnicking on the rocks) and the characters were so realistically flawed, believable, and lovable. I can’t wait to read more from The Oath Series as well as more by Lacey Furr.

So for Maddy’s birthday her grandmother gives her a Heritage box to test her DNA. After a little hesitation her mother convinces her to take the DNA test and they are awaiting the results. When the results finally come in she has to video call her grandmother who is in France. The results were as normal as expected until she gets to the part of being one quarter villain. So her grandmother is now on her way to visit and no one will let Maddy know what’s going on. While she is waiting for her grandmother to arrive she still goes to school but ends up being contacted by the VDA which was sooner than her mother expected. What is in the future for Maddy? What does being one quarter villain mean?

This story was a great read. There is loss, love, friends, healing, romance and some suspense about what’s going to happen between Loch and Hailey. The author wrote this book in such a way that had me glued to the pages and it pulled at my heartstrings throughout the entire story. Loch’s manager books him a getaway at a B&B to give him some space and time to heal from the tragic loss of his sister. Loch hasn’t been the same since she passed away and he isn’t able to write music. Hailey, the owner of the B&B is no stranger to loss. Both of these characters need healing in many ways. They start spending time together and it’s a beautiful thing but what happens when Loch’s stay ends? Loch and Hailey have friends that are there for them through their ups and downs. I enjoyed all the characters in this book. I enjoyed experiencing a myriad of emotions while reading this book. I recommend this book.

Murder a la Christie is Book 1 in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub series and if you enjoy a cozy mystery of who done it….I would recommend this book. This was a fun read trying to figure out whom may have been responsible for these murders and putting the pieces to the mysterious puzzle together to find out. Something suspicious is going on…

Professor Lexie Driscoll is looking forward summer months and was asked to stay at a friends mansion….having a safe place to stay. With the upcoming Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub starting things turn puzzling when one of Lexie’s friends is murdered. Although the fingers point toward a medical issue, something does not sit well with Lexie and suspects there is more to this then is led on. When more and more of the bookclub come up deceased…there are secrets to discover more than meets the eye. Will Lexie be able to uncover the full truth to what is happening to her bookclub friends before it is to late….

If you are a lover of mystery, secrets and murder….definitely check this book out!! Looking forward to more!!

What a cute kids’ book. The book was an adorable way to teach kids about the alphabet and animals. Booper Snoots are when a person boops an animal on the nose because they are just so cute. This book takes the approach of showing noses you may want to boop and guessing what animal is behind the nose. They follow A-Z and allow the child to guess the animal. Once you flip the page it shows you the whole animal, but then gives you a bunch of info on the animal, too. Really cute for young kids who are learning how to read, learning their alphabet, or just love cuter animals.

Five Tries to Get It Right is a story about 2 lifelong girlfriends on a mission to find themselves. Lydia is a retired school teacher, widow, and whose daughter is doing a semester at sea. She goes to help her bestie of decades, Kate, who is at her lowest point in life after a divorce and being bought out of her company. The two women feel so lost and decide that they are going to get back on track or at least try. They plan to go back to the lives they lived in their 20s (now in their 50s), travel the world, and reexperience “the good times”. Their plan involves traveling back to the 5 countries they once traveled to. At each stop, they tried to partake in similar adventures from their youth, but they realized things were just not the same. So, they try to relive these experiences in new ways as they travel around the world. Without giving too much away, each woman has goals that they want to figure out by the end of the trip. Lydia wants to find a husband and a future that is different from the path she was on. Kate wants to find peace. Will traveling “back in time” give them the space to find what they are looking for?
I thought this was a truthful story. If you are looking for a story about girlfriends being there for each other, suffering together, but also finding themselves, this is a good choice. As someone in their 40s, I understand the need to reinvent yourself or fix things you wished would have happened, but didn’t have the guts to make happen. These women try to accomplish this through travel. I enjoyed both characters. They felt real, relatable, and troubled, but also strong and hopeful at the same time. I would warn people to look at the trigger warnings because there are a lot of mental health aspects to this book.

This is the fourth book in this series which is just as great as the previous three books. I highly suggest reading the previous books to help your enjoyment of this author. I enjoyed how I was pulled into the story from the beginning. The characters are connectable, relatable and made the story easy to read. This is a well written story about Lynn and Joey. What will happen when he ends up at her treatment table? She is determined that he is not for her but what will fate have in store for them? I enjoyed watching their growth and chemistry throughout. They made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don’t want to miss. I have enjoyed these author’s writing skills and never hesitate to pick up one of her books. I highly recommend this book.

This is the second gripping psychological thriller in this chilling series, which has kept me hooked throughout. The story continues from book one, it’s been a few weeks since Kaia Woods best friend Allison went missing. New Haven is still recovering from their tragic summer and are in mourning for their dead. Everyone has given up looking for Allison except for Kaia, and her search has led to some answers. As more townsfolk go missing and unsolved cases pile up for the Sherif a new discovery in the forest offers hope. However, it also threatens the discovery of all New Haven’s darkest secrets. Kaia must face her fears and the mysteries of the ‘Misery House’ once again if she is to save her friend. Whilst the Woods family’s lives and the town may never be the same again. The suspense once again built chapter by chapter. The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life, especially the atmospheric woods and haunted house. I am looking forward to book three now. I literally could not put this book down!

This is the first book in The Oath Series as well as the first I’ve read by this author. It was a wonderful contemporary romance that I recommend picking up if you’re looking for an intriguing read. It took me a little while to find my reading groove, but once I did, I found myself unable to put it down. Our main characters, Loch and Hailey, have a lovely and vulnerable connection. I really enjoyed getting to experience the back and forth through the dual points of view as it helps you get a little bit deeper into the character’s mind. I feel like this is more on the deeper side of the genre because it isn’t just superficial love. The emotions are strong, and there is a bit of spice, so get ready to hunker down and lose a few hours in this world.

Wow, this book gave me goosebumps right from the start. I couldn’t believe how much it gave me the creeps right away. I do find that’s the sign of a really good psycho thriller. I thought book 1 was good but this one took it a new level. It built up on the story. I found some questions answered and some more questions to be asked. It’s one of my favorites for the year. I do hope there will be another.

Wow! I have read this authors paranormal books and didn’t know what to expect from this book but wow she knocked it out of the park! It’s strange how you can be madly in love with your wife and on an accident you fall for the opposite sex. You can actually feel the love both of these men have for their wives but the attraction they have for each other can’t be tamed. There is love, romance, assassin’s, art, writing, money, intrigue and absolute love for all feelings concerned. If you’ve read some of her other books or not, pick this one up, you won’t be disappointed.

This is the 5th book of the WaterFrye Rising series. This book continues the stories of the other friends in their group. This book is about Arrow who is a former navy seal and now a wine entrepreneur billionaire and Vivian a pediatric dentist and a self defense instructor. They both have a traumatic past and have been trying to work through their the past the best they can. Arrow falls first and Vivian is hesitate but the attraction is off the charts for them both. Now they will work together to try and stop some very bad people and rescue a little girl. This is a stand alone book but I suggest you read the others first to get more background on the other couples.

A Patriot’s Tale, written by Nicole Pierman, is a story set during the Revolutionary War. Lily Thompson is a young woman who has lost her only family. We travel along with Lily as she navigates her way through hurdles and challenges to obtain retribution by any means necessary for all she has lost. Lily is a little tough to side with at first, but as her strength, courage and determination begins to shine, she becomes such an admirable character. I felt this story really gained momentum quickly, and the pages kept on turning. I believe the author did a wonderful job at researching the topic and has weaved together a very interesting work of historical fiction.

Having relation to a grandfather and grandmother, who both served as spies under the command of General George Washington, this particular war and the stories around it, always have my interest piqued. I am glad I took the time to read this story and I do recommend it if you’re a fan of detailed historical fiction stories about war.

A gripping psychological thriller which did keep me on the edge of my seat! Set in the small rural town of New Haven and told from different characters points of view, this unsettling story was one which I could not put down. The Woods family have lived in the town forever and are as shocked as everyone else when a string of tragedies occur. First the local store burns down with two bodies inside and then a newlywed couple go missing, and there does not appear to be any leads, leaving the townsfolk worried. When the close knit Woods family’s own children and their friends are put in danger they are willing to risk everything to find out what is going on. Throughout the story the abandoned, creepy and known to be haunted house sits on the hill, this seems to be where the secrets of the town might be discovered. However, it may be too late for the Woods family and the town. The likeable and relatable Woods family had me captivated from page one, whilst the claustrophobic feel of the setting along with the chilling haunted house were brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. I felt completely immersed in this novel, the suspense and terror really built chapter by chapter, and the plot twists and turns kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story. This was a real page turner and as it ends with a cliffhanger, I am now impatiently waiting for book two in this trilogy!

She had photos taken of her furry friends and these photos revealed more than what she ever expected. While looking for clues it seems whoever did it doesn’t want to be discovered. What a way to tie up the evil seafood trilogy. Mother Nature sets the reset. I loved these books. In the beginning, the author gives us a view as how and why she came up with it. I say MORE foodie gone bad stories. I’ve never been so entertained and terrified at the same time. I found the writing deliciously detailed. The characters were uniquely personalized. I did love seeing the karma bus visit some. This author writes and will leave you thinking about things when you’re done. It’s a really good book. This is the second book in the series. However, you can read this one as a stand alone story. I recommend reading the first though. You will not miss details, but you will miss an incredible book.
The first book was filled with so much emotion. This one doesn’t differ. While the feelings and the reason for them are vastly different, you will still find yourself on an emotional rollercoaster. You really find yourself feeling so much for Mariella and how she is treated by pretty much everyone when she moves with her husband. I would go from feeling indignant, to happy, from sad, to downright angry. I really just wanted to hug her and to also, throw the book across the room.

What a story! There is so much emotion in this story – love, pain, courage, and so much more. The author is a brilliant writer who draws you into the story as if you are there experiencing it first hand. This story felt real as I was reading it. It is based on a true story, but that doesn’t automatically make it feel real. The author’s writing is what makes it so. I could not put this book down! This is not just a love story, but more than that, it is a story of family, life and all that comes with it. All while taking place during the second world war.

Stories like this are not what I typically read, however I enjoyed this story. Lily Thompson has lost the only family she had left, her brother. She has been on her own trying to get a family to take her on as a wars so she could join the militia and get her revenge against the red coats. She finally gets the opportunity when she happens upon the Turners. This was a fast paced and enjoyable read. I hope there is possibly a sequel about her life after the war.

Murder By Moonlight is the first book in the Felines of Fairytale Forest series by K.L Montgomery. This is, again, something new and a little different to what Ms. Montgomery has done in the past …. and I was all for this great little cute cozy mystery adventure.
As expected from Ms. Montgomery, this is a well-woven, fun, and intriguing (whodunnit) mystery that is set against the backdrop of ‘Fairytale Forest’, an amusement park that becomes the scene of a murder. Park custodian Catherine (Cat) becomes top suspect, and the fate of the park then hangs in the balance. So, Cat, along with her friend Gloria, and a colony of feral cats who are led by Zoe- get together to solve the mystery, redeem Cat’s reputation, and save the park.
This was such a fun cozy mystery that kept me engrossed the whole way through. It’s a fantastic start to a wonderful new series- and I can’t wait for book #2.

I want to start by saying I love the author’s creativity for the book title. Toasted legit starts when a girl’s toaster burst into flames while making her morning toast. It actually makes me kind of laugh out loud. I didn’t pick it up at first but once I did I laughed. So anyway this is a sweet romance novel. But as we know, the story never just has an easy meet, fall in love, finally happily ever after. But I digress. The author wrote two brilliantly stubborn characters that I relate too. Each having their own personal issues but are drawn to one another. Yet as much as the chemistry tells them to be together they are apart. This story is about the growth between them. Learning there’s positives in taking risks vs playing it safe. But does it all work out in the end?
Meeting over a toaster fire in her kitchen, Libby instantly clicks with Zach. Which worries her. So she grasps onto him laughing at her reaction to the appliance catching fire and the ways it could happen to anyone. By doing so she’s hoping this pull she feels will diminish because this is negative behavior to her. She swore off relationships, and doesn’t have them. There’s no way this gorgeous firefighter will change that for her now. Or will he?
Zach is determined. Libby is beautiful with a wonderful personality. He wants her to be his, but doesn’t realize that will be no easy task. When he takes intimacy off the table unless she’s willing to try a relationship, they both are in for an extreme test of their restraint. A test of wits to make the other break is now the challenge between them. They are both so stubborn that they don’t want to let go of the paths they laid. Unfortunately Zach is faced with a difficult decision and having Libby in his corner may be just what he needs to get through it. Only one problem, is she willing?
I love this book and it’s the beginning of a new series I’m looking forward to reading more of!

I’ve read a couple of books by this author before, so I knew I was in for a good read when I picked this one up. This is the first book in the Love Burns series, and it is amazing! The cover obviously grabbed me, but that was far from the best part. The very first page had me incredibly intrigued, but the pages following hooked me for good. I couldn’t even tell you the other things I did the day I read this because it took over and left me with a serious book hangover. The way that Libby speaks and thinks is way too relatable and had me busting out laughing several times. The chemistry between her and Zach was extremely strong which was wonderful. There is a little bit of spice, adventure, and romance here, and you’ll find yourself rooting for these main characters. If you’re looking for an incredibly captivating contemporary romance book, this should be on your list for sure!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author as well as the first book in the Felines of Fairytale Forest series. I was pleasantly surprised at the quirkiness of the story and found myself smiling several times throughout. It is unique and very original which was quite refreshing. Even though this is a bit over 250 pages, I blew right through it as the story flows so nicely. The character development is wonderful, and the world-building is vivid. I highly recommend picking this up if you’re looking for a cozy mystery to curl up with on your weekend. I’m very much looking forward to the next book in this fun feline series!

While I have read several books by this author, this one definitely has the cutest cover! It grabbed my attention and made me pick it up right away. Don’t let the cuteness fool you though as it contains plenty of paranormal action and romance within the pages. C.A. King is one of my favorite authors because the way they craft a story is captivating. From the plot to the characters and world-building, everything is accounted for and marvelously woven together. Shifter stories are one of my favorites within the paranormal genre, so this was right up my alley. I read the entire thing in one day because I was unable to put it down! If you enjoy the YA Paranormal genre, this will be the perfect book for you to pick up. I can’t wait to see what is next in the series!

This book was another sweet, hilarious, original story from the author. As a fan of their writing, I was delighted by the cover of the book and knew it would be a delightful read and I was not wrong! This is a wonderful paranormal romance with hilarious twists and turns for our heroine Ducky. I absolutely loved all of the word play throughout the story and all of the witty and fun banter. As a fan of fairy tales, I loved that this story had some elements along with the paranormal; the author did a great job of bringing everything together in an original story. If you enjoy YA, paranormal romance, adventure, and humor, you will absolutely love this well written tale about the shifter who has always felt like a duck out of water while loving her crush from afar.

I was so excited to read this one because it gives the background of Ian Troy. I really wanted to know what happened before he had the crown of stones. I have enjoyed this setting and the characters and I really liked getting to read the prequel to the other books in the series. This is an action packed fantasy book with magic users set in an almost ancient time. Ian has been sent to be in Queen Aylagar’s army by the king. He is Shinree and no one looks at him, no one talks to him, no one trusts him, all because of the magic within him. He is chosen as one of a small group of soldiers to go on a secret mission. While on the road, he is able to cast and use his magic as needed so that he is not feeling deprived and weak. Magic does give him a bit of a high and he can have magic blackouts so he needs to make sure he can control his use. When his group picks up some small children after a wolf attack, the Commander is not sure what to do with them. Ian is getting to know that other people in the group and some trust is starting to be built. He is hoping that this mission can change how people see him and magic users and maybe he can also live up to the warrior that he is meant to be. I hope there is another one between this one and the next to fill in some more gaps!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Felines of Fairytale Forest series. If you’re looking for a different sort of cozy mystery, this one’s for you. Cat and Gloria, night shift custodians at the park discover a body with the help of Zoe, the leader of one of the parks cat clowders. Cat teams up with Zoe and the rest of the cats to help solve the case. Gloria is such a fun addition to the story as the perfect sidekick. Will they be able to solve the case and keep the park open?
