The Girl and the Raven (The Girl and the Raven #1)The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Girl and the Raven: A YA Paranormal Romance by Pauline Gruber is a well written YA story. It is so easy to connect with this book and become involved with the story. I thought Lucy was such a relatable character. Even with her newfound gifts she still felt very much like a girl trying to find her place. And that is something every girl can relate to!
This is a new author to me and I was surprised by how refreshing her take on this genre was. I enjoyed every part of this book from the moment I started reading. I would definitely recommend this author and I am looking toward to discovering more of her work.

The Heart of Baker BayThe Heart of Baker Bay by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Heart of Baker’s Bay by Danielle Jacks is a quick and romantic story that I found to be sweet and heartwarming. I thought Jody and Adam were so well suited for each other. They each had their own pasts and experiences that made then slightly reluctant but once they got past the reticence their connection was great.
This isn’t my first book by this author and I always enjoy her stories. They are easy to read with great characters and great storylines. I don’t hesitate to pick up one of her books because I know it will be worth the read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more of her work.

Flash Point: Nite Fire Volume 1 AUDIO BOOK by C. L. Schneider – Review by Kerry Baker

Flash Point: Nite Fire Volume I Audio book by C.L. Schneider is an exciting and detailed fantasy story that I was pulled into from the start. The opening chapter of this book was so well done, I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave this book without finding out what was going to happen.

I  love all the myriad of characters, it made the book so diverse. And the blending of fantasy and reality was done effortlessly.

The narrator for this book has to be my favourite by far! The enthusiasm and passion that went into her telling of the story was just amazing. I think even if the book hadn’t been exciting she would have made it so.

Everything about this book is absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to start the second.

The Halfling's Court: A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale (Bad-Ass Faerie Tales, #1)The Halfling’s Court: A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Halfling’s Court by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is the first book in the A Bad-Ass Faerie series. This is an interesting mix of Fae and MC genres, in a way that I don’t think I have seen done before. The author has taken the best elements in each and combined them into a great and exciting story. It is an action packed story the whole way through.
The author has created relatable and engaging characters inside a world that feels new. Each book this author seems to write is completely different from her last and you never know what you are going to get. For me this makes not just the books exciting but the author as well. I though this was a strong start to a new series and I am looking forward to the next book.

Lost Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Kerry Baker

Lost Bastard Audio Book by India Kells is a Dark Sparrow Novel. This is one of those books that has a bit of everything – action, romance, bad boys and so much more. The story kick straight off with a bang and barely gives you time to catch your breath.

I was drawn to each of the characters for such different reasons and they really make the book interesting.

For me however what really tops this audio book into fantastic is the narrator. He absolutely nails all the different accents and personalities. I could clearly tell each of them apart and really got a feel for them all. I couldn’t stop listening to him narrate the book.

This is fantastic book by a brilliant author and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is a well written and intriguing story that is different from most books I have read. I found myself easily pulled into this story as I wanted to know more about the world and what could be going on. The hierarchy and the monarchy I found really interesting to see unfold.

The story felt original and was written in a way that kept my interest throughout. I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Awakening (The Journals Trilogy Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by D.M. Earl – Review by Kerry Baker

Awakening Audio Book by D.M. Earl is the third book in the Journals Trilogy. After listening to the first two books I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one to find out how it was all going to end! I just had to know to outcome and see if there could be a happy ending for Stone and Quinn.

I was a little bit disappointed with the story. It felt like at times that the author had resorted to adding things in for the shock factor. I don’t think this was needed at all as the story was strong enough without it.

These bits aside I did still enjoy the story. I was instantly invested in the characters again, and not just the main ones. It feels like we have got to know all the peripheral characters so well by this point that I wanted to know about them too.

This was a good end to the trilogy and it was great to get the closure on it.

Remember His Name (Remember My Name Series Book 2) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Kerry Baker

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Remember His Name by Laurencia Hoffman is the second book in the Remember My Name series. This is an absolutely fantastic book and easily my favourite of the series so far. Wren goes through so much and you feel so connected to him as a character. It really was emotional to experience everything he did.
This book really had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It was full of suspense and the author just kept throwing in twist and turns so you really didn’t know what to expect. This really is a brilliant book and I cannot wait for more.

Grave Digger Academy by C.A. King is a fun YA book that appeals to all readers. This author has become one or those that I will read even without looking at the book description. Her work is always fantastic and I know that whatever book I read is I’ll enjoy it.
This book is no different whatsoever. I was hooked the moment I started reading. I became invested in the characters and just found them so relatable. I could easily imagine everything they got up to and I just found them to be so entertaining.
The story was well written, as expected. It is fairly fast paced but for me that just added to the excitement. When I started this book I didn’t realise it was the first in a series but I an glad it is – I cannot wait to read the next books.

Lake of Flowers (Lord Hani #5)Lake of Flowers by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lake of Flowers by N.L. Holmes is the fifth book in the Lord Hani Mystery series. This is a fantastic series that is so rich with detail that you can’t help but be drawn in. This book only adds to that. I would strongly recommend reading this series in order as it follows the same character throughout.
With this book we are taken on yet another intriguing journey with Lord Hani as he tries to figure our another mystery. It is always so easy to fall back in with this character, almost like you have never left him in the first place.
As with the rest of the series it is great that the authors obvious passion for history comes through. I think it adds to the whole experience. This is a great addition to the series and I am looking forward to whatever is next.

This was such a fast paced book with a lot going on. I found that I really had to make sure I was listening as it would have been easy to miss something important. I really liked the narrator chosen for this book. He did a great job of portraying the different characters and making the book feel exciting. He definitely added to the story.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams – Review by Kerry Baker

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mr Nice Guy by Belinda Williams is the first book in the Pierce Brothers series. This is a great example of a friends to lovers romance and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved how the chara try’s has such a great connection anyway, as friends, and the author really knew how to develop that. It was so easy to get behind them and hope that they would figure out their feelings for each other.
The story itself was entertaining. I thought I was lighthearted and fun, touching on the sweeter side or romance. It has a nice easy pace about, meaning it was too heavy to read. Overall this was a great book and I am looking forward to the second.

Tangled Roots by Denise D. Young is the first book in the Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic series. This is a great paranormal story that felt like it had a bit of everything to keep you interested. I really enjoyed the premise of this book.
It felt a little different to others I have read in the genre which made it even more enjoyable. I loved the two characters as well. They were so different and yeh worked so well together. It worked perfectly in the context of this story and the roles they had.

Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster: Frat House Confessions by Danielle Jacks is an entertaining story with two absolutely brilliant characters at its centre. I connected with them instantly and loved the interaction between them. It felt so real and believable.
When I started reading this book I expected it to be an easy and fun read that would be amusing. And while it was all of these things it was also more. It had more depth to it then I would have thought and I could feel the emotion. The whole book was really well written and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. Competing with the Star (Star Series Book 2) by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Review by Kerry Baker

Competing with the StarCompeting with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Competing With The Star: Sweet YA Romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager. This book can be read as a stand-alone as it is easy to engage with the characters.
This is an easy to read, sweet romance that is fairly quick to read. The characters are all pretty interesting, although I didn’t find Hadley to be quite frustrating at times.
The book for me had quite a slow pace, it was a slow build up leading you gently where it wanted to take you. This is one of those stories that is a great way to pass a lazy afternoon. You can get lost in the story and everything going on.
This was an enjoyable book a good follow up to the first one.

Set In Stone (The Stone Series Volume 3) AUDIO BOOK by Dakota Willink – Review by Kerry Baker

Set In Stone Audio book by Dakota Willink is the third book in The Stone series. For me I think this is the book that has had the strongest story line out of the three of them. It felt like we got to see a little deeper into the characters and their stories. However this is also the book where I became a bit more frustrated with them. At times I felt like I wanted to shout at them because of what they were doing or saying, which shows just how invested I was in them.

This has been a great conclusion to this series – one that I didn’t realise I even wanted until I started listening to it. My only criticism throughout the whole thing is that I wished sometimes the story didn’t rely so heavily on sexual aspect of it as I thought the storylines themselves were strong enough without it. However they have all been enjoyable and I would certainly recommend them.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan's Devils MC San DiegoAvenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devil MC San Diego by Manda Mellett is a fantastic book that will leave you desperate to get your hands on the next book. I am a huge fan of this series and this book for me has got to be one of my favourites. I loved Saffie and Niran. Their story to me came across as imperfect and flawed which made it so believable and captivating. They aren’t perfectly polished characters. Instead they have character and grit whiz made me love them all the more.
I knew going into this book that it wasn’t going to be all nicely tied up at the end. However I wasn’t expecting to still be thinking about they book days after I had finished reading. So much so that I even went back for a re-read, which isn’t something I usually do this soon.
The cover for this book is also hands down my favourite one. I was instantly drawn to it and felt like the author had captured the character so well with it.
I absolutely cannot wait for book two and would urge everyone to read that book today!

Deliciously Sinful Liaisons AUDIO BOOK by L.M. Mountford – Review by Kerry Baker

Deliciously Sinful Liaisons Audio Book by L.M. Mountford is a great collection of snapshots into future books by this author that I already cannot wait to read. Each and everyone one left me wanting more. I loved how all of these were different and yet had the distinct markers of this author. I love how engaged you can become with each of these books even though they are so short. They were great to be able to put one on to listen to in free moments because of this, it never felt like I had to refresh myself in what had happened to get back into the story.

This is a great way to introduce yourself to this author and to add even more books to your TBR list.

The Rise Of Manifesto The Great: A Sci Fi Comedy Where Women Wear The Trousers (Planet Hy Man) by Kerrie Noor. I found this to be a musky amusing and entertaining book that certainly piqued my interest. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book – as a new author to me I felt like I was going in blind to an extent. I do have to say that I struggled at times to connect with the book – possibly because this is a prequel to an already established series that I haven’t read. However overall I found this to be an enjoyable story and a unique concept. It has certainly caught my attention enough that I will be reading the main series.
