Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite Book 7) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kerry Carr

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 7 in the Hidden Valley Elite series. I honestly can’t give this series enough praise. I have loved every story. I was waiting on the edge of my seat for this book after the cliff hanger the last book left me on.
This book follow the last of the 4 men we have read about in this series (definately read them from the start).
We are with Shane and Winter in this story.

When we rejoin Shane he is struggling through the fallout and consequences of his actions. When Winter reappears in his life. Winter used to bully Shane and made his life hell and now he sees his chance for revenge. To make her feel as low and as worthless as he felt all those years ago. What he doesn’t realise is Winter can’t possible feel any lower than she already does.

Winter has returned to university after leaving her Foster parents. Winter has had a traumatic past with losing her sister at her mother’s hands and now her past is about to catch up with her as her mother parole date looms. As she struggles with lost memories, anger towards her mother and nightmares she can’t shake Shane becomes her shining light making her feel safe.
But with so many secrets and lies between them do they even stand a chance of being together. And when their pasts catch up with them a secrets start coming to life would they even want to be together. What happens when the need for revenge turns into a connection and a passion neither one can deny.

Like with the other romances the chemistry between our characters is on fire but the angst, trauma and struggles they have to go through is what makes me fall in love with them.

Necromancy the Musical by Debbie Hibbert – Review by Kerry Carr

Necromancy the MusicalNecromancy the Musical by Debbie Hibbert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very interesting read with a unique story. It is a captivating magical story filled with danger, mystery, magic and all the normal angst teenagers go through.
Cece has a magical gift. She is able to speak to the death. This gift isn’t always a blessing though but it comes in handy when she helps her dad who’s a police officer solve his cases.
When Cece goes to drama camp all she wants is to be a normal teenager learning the craft of something she loves however that’s not meant to be when someone with dark magic trys to harm her for her magical abilities she knows she has to stop this person before its too late.
Add to this a budding romance between Cece and another person with magic Zach and this story takes plenty of exciting twists and turns.
The connection between Zach and Cece was lovely to watch develop. The way that their magical abilities complement each other makes them even more of a perfect fit.
The author also does a great job of handling subjects such as death, voodoo and dark magic in a respectful way but also in an informative way showing the reader that it isn’t to be taken lightly and its not without risk.
Overall I enjoyed this book. The mixture of magic and the romance/drama camp element was a different take. Cece’s ability was also a unique aspect as I haven’t read many books including that ability.

Reckless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 4) by KG Fletcher – Review by Kerry Carr

Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book #4)Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in The Bennets of Langston Falls Series. You will definately want to read these books from the beginning so you get a complete picture of the Bennet family and the ups and downs of their lives so far.
I have loved this author’s writing. These romances are slow burn story’s but the writing is beautiful and I really find myself captured by these characters and their stories as they struggle and strive to find love.
In this story we focus on the sister to the Bennet Brothers Becky.
Becky has been taking care of her brothers and father for a long time. As anyone with brothers know they are definately over protective of Becky which has the disadvantage of making dating and meeting someone tricky. She has been through the ups and downs alongside her brothers so she knows all about the fallout with Glen and she isn’t ready to forgive. Even if her brothers are.

Glen is trying to rebuild his life after drugs and alcohol turned him into someone everyone hated. As he makes Amends with his one time friends he also trys to kindle the friendship with Becky.
As the pair start to spend time together feelings start to grow which shock them both but neither of them can fight. As they work towards building bridges and the fires of the love start to burn there are still things that could come up that will threaten to tear this pair apart.

Will Becky’s brothers accept their relationship? Has Glen really become a changed man? Is their budding romance strong enough to withstand the pressures that will be thrown at it?
This is a beautiful enemies to lovers romance that will definately grip your heart. Seeing Glen’s character develop through the series to now had me preying he finally finds his happiness, however the path of love is never smooth and this couple will definately have a few bumps to contend with along the way.

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 2) by Laura Hawks – Review by Kerry Carr

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 2)Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera by Laura Hawks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Gumshoe series and I do recommend reading the books in order so you can fully enjoy the characters and their development. The is a YA cosy mystery but I have to admit with the intrigue, danger, mystery and twists and turns I was just as gripped.
I also loved the paranormal twists in this story of the detective solving the cases being a young witch and her familiar cat which is also a reincarnated private detective. It added such a nice twist to the story and makes it more understandable as to why a cat and a young girl find themselves solving Mysteries and getting into danger.
In this story it is a race against time as Mia and Gumshoe try to solve and stop someone trying to destroy Mia’s friend Tiffany’s quinceanera to celebrate her turning 15.
After Gumshoe witnesses a murder he needs Mia’s assistance to figure out who is behind it and why. As the bodies start to pile up the part of sleuths need to use all their skills and knowledge as they are sent on a dark trail of deception and corruption.
Can they stop the person committing these crimes before they destroy Tiffany’s Quinceanera? Will they learn anything more about Gumshoe’s past life and why they were murdered?
This is a fast paced engaging story that will entertain readers young and old.

Fractured Hearts-Prospect (Grimm Wolves MC Book 7) by D.M. Earl – Review by Kerry Carr

Fractured Hearts-Prospect (Grimm Wolves MC Book 7)Fractured Hearts-Prospect by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 7 in the Grimm Wolves MC series. And even though the books focus on different member of the MC I do advise reading them in order so you can appreciate the full story of the members, who they are, their place in the MC and what they stand for.
This story was amazing. As always it is a fast paced read where to broken and tortured souls find each other and start to make steps towards healing with the help of the brothers in the MC.

This story focuses on Frank (Dingo) and Celee.

Frank has had an abusive upbringing and since finding and becoming a prospect for the Grimm Wolves MC his life has now become all about proving his worth to earn his patch. He has seen his brothers finding love and settling down but because of the mental abuse he suffered he doesn’t believe that is on the cards for him. Until he meets Celee.

Celee has come from a very abusive family where her father treated her as property to be sold to the highest bidder. However with her father dead she is now alone and trying to find her way when she meets Dingo.
The connection between them is instant but they both have a lot to work through from their past and it gets even more complicated when it turns out their is a bounty on Celee’s head. Now with the help of his brothers and some friends from the Handmaiden Devil’s MC (another great series to read) they now need to figure out a way to protect her and get rid of the threat if she and Dingo are every going to have a chance to be together.

This book is filled with emotion, danger, family, friendships, and a protectiveness that the club gives to all its members. This author never fails to amaze me with the story telling as each one is unique and captivating. One thing I do love is that the female characters are all strong women who have their own minds and who aren’t afraid to speak them.
I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next and which member of the MC we are going to be made to fall in love with.

1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure (Mark Sutherland Adventures) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Kerry Carr

1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is another great historical mystery from Kimberly Mullins. I have loved all the Notebook mystery series and was so excited to see another book from this author. The attention to detail that is placed in this story really brings the time period to life and transports the reader to that time and place making it a really engaging and immersive read. The author also does an amazing job with the characters making them all unique and believable you can actually imagine them living the lives she portrays in the stories.

In this story we are with Mark Sutherland. He is a journalist for a newspaper but he loves adventures and hates being stuck in one place. When he gets a job reporting on a supposed flying machine crash it is only the start of his adventures as he makes his way to Yukon on his quest for a story on the gold rush.
But this is a story that isn’t straight forward. It is full of twists and turns as Mark meets new people, some of them friends, some of them enemy’s and as he continues to investigate the story’s he finds it also leads him to discover things people would rather be kept secret.

This story is a historical mystery that is full of twists and turns you never know what to expect or what Mark will stumble across next. There is danger and excitement around every corner as well as friendships along the way.
This author creates an amazing multi layer story which will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I was gripped from beginning to end.

The Mating Haze (Long Claw Pride) by Brooke May – Review by Kerry Carr

The Mating HazeThe Mating Haze by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is part of the Long Claw Pride series. I have read previous books by this author and have enjoyed them all and this one was just as good. I love a paranormal romance where the Shifter mates are protective and possessive, where neither one can fight against what they are feeling the connection is that powerful. However this is a mated story with a twist. There is a saying that love in blind and the same is true in the Shifter world except its called the Mating Haze.
When Laramie Mackenzie meets Trigger Bain the Mating call is activated and they realise they are meant to be mates.
Laramie is the sensible one of the pack so it is unlike her to just lose her mind over a guy. However that is what she is doing, not only does she accept her mate she also sees an opportunity to fulfil her dreams when Triggers Step-father offers the opportunity to improve their town, make it more profitable and allow Laramie the chance of having her own store. But when things are too good to be true they normally are this isn’t going to be the perfect dream she is expecting.

Trigger is a Shifter who has grown up in the human world. He has very little experience within a pack and only knows what he has learnt from his mother. He follows his step-father around helping him improve the lives of shifters or so he is told. He trusts his step-father. After everything he’s done raising him why would he lie to him?
When Trigger’s step father realises his fated mate is part of the Long Claw pack he knows he can use this to his advantage.
As Trigger and Laramine try to get used to their bond and learn more about each other they also need to uncover secrets and lies which could destroy their future before it even begins.

This story is action packed with twists and turns that will keep you guessing. There are characters you will love and characters you just don’t trust. The author does an incredible job of writing that allows the reader to picture the scenes in vivid detail as if they are there seeing it with their own eyes.

Tracker (The Talisman Series) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Kerry Carr

Tracker (The Talisman Series)Tracker by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is part of The Talisman series but it is a prequel. I have loved every book in the paranormal romance series and this one is just as amazing. The author does an amazing job with the story creating a world of.good vs evil, as well as a fated mate storyline too. One thing I really love is that the main characters complement each other. We have a warrior and a talisman but both are equalling strong and equally needed if they are to succeed and defeat the evil against them.

This is Riley and Lynnette’s story. Both of them have just reached the age of 21 so neither of them expect to find their mate so soon but the gods have other plans when they bring them together.
Riley is already a skilled warrior and even though Lynnette doesn’t know what her skill is or how it will aid Riley there is no denying their connection and love for each other.
When they go away to start bonding and try and figure out Lynnette’s skill they are attacked.
What follows is an adventure as Lynnette figures out what role she is to play by being at Riley’s side and we learn just how strong their bond is when it is threatened.
Will they defeat the evil force against them that is trying to stop their bonding? Or will they prove just how strong they are when a warrior finds his Tailsman.

Mystical Midlife Mate (Boudin, Barbecue, and Hoodoo Series) by Reggi Dupree – Review by Kerry Carr

Mystical Midlife Mate: A Paranormal Women's Fiction NovelMystical Midlife Mate: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel by Reggi Dupree
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Boudin, Barbecue, and Hoodoo series. I do highly recommend reading these books in order as this book picks up where the first book ended. This is an fast paced, engaging, Paranormal story filled with action, murder, mystery, fated mates and a whole lot more.
The characters that this author has created in what really brings the story to life for me. They are larger than life and literally jump off the page. Our main character Gwen is incrediable. She is funny and sassy and knows her own mind and isn’t afraid to speak it which sometimes gets her into worse trouble. Her attitude and banter with the other characters is what really makes me want to jump in and be a part of her circle of friends.
Things for Gwyn just keep getting more and more complicated. Not only can she see ghosts, lives with vampires and is approaching middle age and menopause she has now become a demon (full story in the first book) with this new addition to the problems she faces as well as magic from her father appearing Gwyn certainly has her hands full.
Add to this a smoking hot boyfriend who claims to be her fated mate whether she likes it or not and the fact he moves himself into her home to protect her from another threat that wants her dead her head is in a complete spin.

But that’s not all with her father’s return this brings up a whole load of questions mainly who can she actually trust? With everyone keeping secrets and hiding things can she trust anyone close to her anymore?

I loves how the author mixes the paranormal elements with something ordinary like a woman going through the menopause and the added complications and feelings that brings and the magical elements which had me hanging onto my seat wanting to stop the ride but unable to tear myself away until the end.
Amazing story, amazing characters. I loved it

Tears Into Gold by Cori Cooper – Review by Kerry Carr

Tears into GoldTears into Gold by Cori Cooper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a beautifully written fantasy adventure. It is a young adult story however I enjoyed it just as much. It is full of magic, mischief, forbidden love, danger and adventure around every corner. I loved the way the old saying “be careful what you wish for” comes into play in a big way in this story. The story itself is unique however the author uses parts of other stories and tales which to me make it even more magical.

The story focuses around a orphaned maid who as the story progress we learn is not all she seems. When she finds a magical creature which could give her what she needs to be free of her life as a servant she feels hope for the future. However, things don’t go as she imagined and when other find out about her gift it leads her on a adventure to escape the wish she thought she wanted. With so many elements and characters it is a fast paced magical read that I wasn’t able to put down until I completed the story.
I can’t wait to read this to my neices who i know will adore it.

Killer Smile by Allan Evans – Review by Kerry Carr

Killer SmileKiller Smile by Allan Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the sequal to Killer Blonde. I really recommend that you read that book first so you get the full history of Cade Dawkins and why he is now being targeted the way he is being targeted now. This is a dark psychological Thriller which had me gripped from the beginning and wouldn’t let me go. The author writing was really unique and the insight you are given into the minds of serial killers and people using the dark Web is both terrifying and gripping.
As someone who loves crime stories and especially psychological crimes I was addicted to this story and all the elements that the author includes.

After ending the run of the serial killer nicked named the Blonde Killer Cade Dawkins was enjoying the peace. That case pushed him to his limits and spilt more blood than he ever wanted to but the killer was done and peace was resuming or so he thought.
Little does he know that on the dark Web in a forum specifically for serial killers there has been a challenged put down. Who can go against Cade Dawkins and succeed? Who can commit murder on his patch and not get caught?
Now Cade has not one serial killer to contend with but several and when the cat and mouse games get to close to home and the people he cares about can Cade keep his witts about him to protect not only the people he cares about and loves but the public as a whole.
There is a target on Cade’s back but its everyone around him who is in the firing line.
I really felt for Cade, after all he was just doing his job by taking down the Blonde Killer but that one action brought him to the attention of every other serial killer who wanted to be known as the one who went up against Cade Dawkins and won.

There are so many twists and turns in this fast paced read that i was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The odds are seriously stacked against Cade in this story but his determination to bring an end to these evil killers really shines through.

Saint Con by Seelie Kay – Review by Kerry Carr

Saint ConSaint Con by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this book was amazing. It si a passionate love at first sight story but with so many twists and turns I wasn’t sure our couple would ever get their happy ever after.
The author’s writing really brings the characters to life and it makes this story so engaging that you won’t be able to put it down.

When Con and Jessica meet after literally bumping into each other at a bar, Con knew she was the one for him and he had to be with her. Jess on the other hand was not as confident, not wanting to get her hopes up. However Con is determined to prove to her that its love at first sight and goes out of his way to do that. So Jess is more than a little confused when their date arrived and Con doesn’t show up.
Feeling heartbroken and angry at being led on Jess leaves feeling like she was played with. She plans to move on and forget Con until it comes to light that Con is missing.

What follows is a story that at times made me cry and made me doubt that they would ever get the break to see if what they have is real. With kidnapping, amnesia, PTSD and an attack which altered the course of both of their lives will they ever be able to find their way back to each other or will what they have disappear just like Con did on that fateful day.

The Moon That Fell from Heaven (Empire at Twilight) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Kerry Carr

The Moon That Fell from HeavenThe Moon That Fell from Heaven by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 5 in the Empire at Twilight series. I have to admit this author is one of my favourites of all time. I love the stories. I find myself completely captivated by these historical stories. The author’s attention to detail and research into the times and the historical happenings really gives this story dimension and makes the reader feel transported back to a different era. The attention that the author pays to the characters making them fit into the time period the story is set into just adds to the incredible world building that the author is able to accomplish.

This is a story full of twists and turns that keeps you hooked. With danger, intrigue and murder all playing a part as well as decit and political alliances going wrong This story has something for everyone.

Ehli-nikkalu is the daughter of the Hittite Emperor. She has considered herself not loved by her family and that is confirmed for her when she is married off to a man who doesn’t care for her either as part as a political alliance. Ehli-nikkalu is unhappy and wants to leave her husband so when she finds proof that her husband is plotting to go against her father and remove him from the Throne she knows she needs to stop this from happening. Can she get word to her father in time to stop her husbands planned attack? Will her family start to see her as a valued member of the family finally? And when the 2 people she entrusts to take the message to her father are found dead does she stand any chance at all of letting her father know before it too late? What danger is she putting herself in and what will be the consequences should her husband finds out she is planning to betray him.

As someone who loves history this author’s books definately speak to me and grip me from the beginning. The author is amazing at bringing the past into the future and allowing the reader an opportunity to experience life in a different time period than our own.

Woman Unbroken by Alexandra Fleder – Review by Kerry Carr

Woman UnbrokenWoman Unbroken by Alexandra Fleder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This for me was a very powerful and at times hard read because I related to so much of the story. Not the being famous part but the escaping from domestic abuse.
The author does an incredible job of allowing the reader an inside look into what actual happens to a person when they leave an abusive relationship. You are shown the pain, the fear, the loneliness, the inability to trust anyone or even have confidence in your own judgement. And the hardest part is having to rebuild your life and find yourself again after you were pretty much destroyed mentally and physically. The author dealt with this story in a way that was respectful but also allowing the reader to see that just because you leave the relationship doesn’t mean the trauma ends there. You lose so much of yourself during the time in a relationship like that, that the hardest part is rebuilding and finding yourself again.

Devorah Fields used to be a model and a young actress. Her family life wasn’t plain sailing however as her father was a movie producer and con artist and her mother was a British actress. To get away from the environment at home she jumped at the chance of marrying her husband. I mean what could go wrong. He was handsome and so caring. It was a match made in heaven.
Fast forward and Devorah’s father is in prison, her mother and left to return to England and her Prince charming turned out to be a monster.
She had finally find the strength and courage to leave him and has returned to her own family home. Now she has to figure out what she is going to do with her life. How is she going to support herself? How can she cope with the anxiety and fear of her ex husband finding her? And how can she rebuild her life when she lost so much of herself that she doesn’t even know who she is anymore.

This is a story about one woman’s journey to reclaim her life and to remember who she was and who she wants to become again. This was a very empowering story and for me personally I really enjoyed seeing Devorah’s journey to reclaim her life and find herself again.

The Podcast Chronicles by Kathryn Dodson – Review by Kerry Carr

The Podcast ChroniclesThe Podcast Chronicles by Kathryn Dodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really enjoyable women’s Fiction read. This story had me captivated from the beginning. I really felt for our leading lady Sue. With her children growing up and leaving home she is left with “empty nest syndrome ” she finds herself questioning her worth and wondering what she has left now her children have left. She is so used to playing the role of mother and wife that without being a mother she now feels lost and without purpose.
That is until she sees that a developer is wanting to build a theme park in her little village. Sue has now found something that she is passionate about again and that is stopping the theme park being built. As we follow this story we see Sue regain her passion and drive as she starts a podcast to get the community to come together against the developer. However it’s not that simple, with political opposition, the developers money and a troll, how can Sue stand against such forces who are determined to ruin her village.
Does Sue stand any chance of stopping the theme park being built? With all her energy and effort being focused on this mission what is the effect going to be on her family?

This story really spoke to me as my own child is getting older and I know I will find myself in a similar position that Sue is in and will need to find something to fill the gap that being a mum makes. I was inspired by her fight and determination to stand up for something she believes in and not to back down no matter the odds against her.

The Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Kerry Carr

The Earl, Her Reluctant GuardianThe Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a historical romance with a paranormal twist which I didn’t see coming but enjoyed. The author does an amazing job with the writing and really transports the reader back to that time period. What i like about this story is that the female character isn’t a shy girl who does as she is told as you would expect of this era, rather she is determined and knows her own mind and plays by her own rules.
Vanessa thought she knew what to expect when she returned home after the death of her uncle and even though she was saddened by his loss she was excited to start the new chapter in her life.
What she didn’t count on was all the complications that lingered. From a aunt and cousin still residing at the house, a guardian that sparks a fire inside her like never before, a ghost and a dangerous person committing murder there is more than enough to leave Vanessa’s head spinning.
This story has it all, family drama, Paranormal elements, a sizzling chemistry and murders that need to be solved.
The author’s writing was Great. I got completely lost in this story and i couldn’t put it down.

What We Never Say (Bold Journeys Book 2) by Paulette Stout – Review by Kerry Carr

What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women's Fiction (Bold Journeys Book 2)What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women’s Fiction by Paulette Stout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Bold Journeys series. I do really recommend reading the first book as the characters of Kyle and Rebecca are the main characters here as well. Whereas the last book focuses on Rebecca this one focuses on Kyle. The author deal with the sensitive subject of sexual assault against a male in a respectful way. It is a subject that isn’t talked about much and it is good that the author has brought this to light and made it more acceptable to talk about.
We always hear of powerful men abusing their power against women but it happens the opposite way as well which most people don’t realise.
When Rebecca finds out Kyle used to be a model she is angry that he didn’t tell her but what she doesn’t realise is that the smile in those pictures was a cover up of a lie.
At that time Kyle was suffering from abuse from a powerful women who threatened his career if he didn’t bow down and do as she said. All these years later Kyle is still traumatised about this experience and has spoken to know one until now.
Now the past and the person of his nightmares has come back and wants to wedge herself into his life once again.
I must admit I was a little shocked and disappointed in Rebecca at first when she took the job working for the same woman that abused Kyle all those years ago. With everything that Kyle had helped and supported her througg in the last book i expected the same from her in this story which wasnt the case at the start but as the story goes on she does redeem herself.
This is a very emotional story full of anger, and shame.
Will Kyle ever work through his past? What effect will her return into his life have on Kyle and Rebecca’s relationship? Will this woman be made to pay for what she did to Kyle? Now Kyle is read to speak out will anyone actually believe him?

My heart went out to Kyle all the way through this book as he struggled to come to terms with what happened to him and tries to move forward.

No Amends by Angela Lam – Review by Kerry Carr

No AmendsNo Amends by Angela Lam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great suspenseful read. I was gripped from the first page and the twists and turns kept me guessing all the way through the book. It is a story of Forbidden romance, a life filled with lies and secrets, deception and games that ends up with someone’s life ending.
This is a F/F romance which was interesting. The emotions and confusion that went throughout this story was so well written that I felt every thing that the characters did.
Tang is a writer struggling to produce a book that will sell, her relationship with Layla is missing that spark and affection so is it any wonder when Tang meets Dee that she gets swept up in the attention and affection that Dee showers her with.
But Dee isn’t all she seems. She likes playing games. Her favourite thing to do is ensnare people and make them fall in love with her. But what happens when her game fails and she finds herself being the one left? What happens when Dee’s secrets start to unravel and Tang finally sees her for what she is? Tang finds herself in a mixture of guilt and confusion as all this is revealed and one night changes her life forever.

It was an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down.

Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan Book 3) by T. Christensen – Review by Kerry Carr

Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan #3)Cruel Truths by T. Christensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Tessa and Jordan series, it can be read as a standalone read which is great. I loved this story, the author does an amazing job with the characters making them feel realistic. I especially felt a connection with Lindy. She is a fun person who loves her family and is prepared to stand up for herself when she needs to. I love how she wasn’t afraid to stand up to Cade even when he was dominant and intimidating she didn’t back down.
The chemistry between them is electric pretty much from the beginning but the dynamic of Cade being her boss and Lindy really needing her job to support her family put road blocks in their way.
This story is a push and pull enemies to lovers romance. There is a thin line between love and hate and this story definately goes back and forwards over that line which leaves you wondering if they will ever get together and embrace their true feelings.

Cade already knew from the moment he met her that Lindy was the woman for him but will she ever come around and see that for herself? Should you ever mix a business relationship with pleasure? And when an opportunity comes along where they fake a relationship what happens when those fake feelings become real? With no escape and a lot of time spent in Cades company will Lindy be able to keep denying the connection she feels? Will Lindy ever fulfill her dream of getting her own fashion line? Will her connection with Cade help or hinder her dreams?

This was a fast paced read that I loved and I was completely invested in this couples story as they navigate the path ahead of them.

House of Blood and Whispers by Natalina Reis – Review by Kerry Carr

House of Blood and WhispersHouse of Blood and Whispers by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this was an amazing read. I loved every minute of it. The author’s writing was captivating and I was pulled into the book right from the beginning. This story is fast paced with a tyrant Emperor, his son trying to save his people by overthrowing him and a woman who was supposed to just aid him but who ends up turning his world upside down.

When Cahki was kidnapped to become part of the Emperor’s harem it was a decision that would end up haunting the Emperor for ever.
When the Emperor’s son Sung-jin finds her after she escapes her captors he comes up with a play to protect her while also having a spy on his father. All he has to do is marry her. But with the hatred and contempt Cahki has towards him he is risking his own life by treating her.
The only way Cahki know she can survive is to work with the prince and be a pawn to help him take down his dad.
But what happens when the fake marriage becomes something more. What happens when the fake feelings become real?

This story had my on the edge of my seat as together they have to work hard to find a way to outsmart the Emperor. I love Cahki’s character. She is such a strong and determined woman. She is fiercely independent and will think nothing of resorting to violence to protect herself and the people she cares about. As their story progresses it is lovely to see her vulnerable side come out and the transformation is beautiful. There were parts of this story where my heart was in my throat and my heart went out to them for the dangerous situations they find themselves in. But their strength and determination was so amazing to read. I honestly couldn’t put this story down, I needed to know what was going to happen but at the same time I didn’t want it to end.

Daring Ceri (True Platinum Rock Star Romance Series Book 6) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Kerry Carr

Daring Ceri (True Platinum #6)Daring Ceri by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 6 in the True Platinum series. Even though it is a part of a series I can be read as a standalone however once you’ve read one I have a feeling you will want to read them all. This book is a second chance rockstar romance. The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader into this world. This story is full of intense chemistry, heartbreak, trust issues, angst, and a fight between your heart and your head. You are immediately gripped by this couples story and my emotions kept changing from wanting them to succeed and wanting Ceri to not go back.
Alex and Ceri were sweethearts. Ceri thought they would be together forever but at the time Alex didnt seem to have the same vision. His career and the fame that came with it was more important and circumstances caused them to split and left Ceri with a broken heart she didn’t think she would ever recover from.
Years later their paths cross again. Ceri has moved on and is engaged to someone else so she isn’t interested in anything that Alex has to say. However Alex is regretting everything that happened and what’s her back. He is determined to prove to her that he has changes and is now the man she wants and deserves.
What lengths will he go to to prove his has changed? Will Ceri take a chance on him again and risk her heart? As much as Ceri tries to deny her feelings they are too strong but should she follow her heart or her head?
This was a captivating read which i really enjoyed. The push and pull between Alex and Ceri brought this story to life. I was happy that Ceri didn’t give in easily and still kept her guard up until she felt she could trust Alex again. It was really well written and realistic that you felt you were actually watch it happen in front of you.

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love – Review by Kerry Carr

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Irresistible series but they can be read as a standalone. However after reading this one you will definately want to go back to read the first two books. This book was such an emotional read you will definately need tissues. The author does an amazing job of creating so much chemistry and tension between the two main characters but also showing the reader the confusion, heartbreak, guilt and constant battle they have to go through to not give into their feelings.
Brian and Amanda chemistry is electric right from the first time they meet. Little did Brian know that the woman who could be the one is his best friends little sister.
After Brian was warned to not mess around with Amanda, they both decide it would be best to remain friends.
Brian has never done relationships. He has always been a guy for 1 night stands but when we learn more about his story and the secret he hides from everyone which makes him live every day like his last we can understand why.
Amanda is such a sweet character who is a romantic at heart. She feels the power of the attraction between herself and Brian and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and jump right in but Brian keeps pushing her away.
Can this couple every overcome the obstacles in their way? Will Brian ever be able to confide in his friends about what is really happening to him? And what happens if they leave it too late to give their feelings for each other a chance? Could they potentially miss out on the love of their lives all because of the risk of spoiling their friendship?

Honestly the writing of this author is so beautiful you feel every emotion between these characters and I was cheering for them all the way, even though at times I wanted to bang their heads together and make them see what was in front of them. Beautiful story, emotional read and chemistry that was off the scale this was a great read.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin – Review by Kerry Carr

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the McIntire County Series. These books can be read as a standalone however once you read one you will want to read them all. I love this author’s writing. The stories are gripping and full of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. The descriptions of places and people are what really brings this story to life. If you close your eyes you can picture everything as if it really existed and you are part of it. As with the previous books this is a murder mystery with a touch of romance. This is a story full of secrets and lies as well as danger for present circumstances and heartbreak over past experiences. The main characters are both stubborn and headstrong and this is what causes some of the conflict between them.
Sheriff Shane Hamilton has a lot to deal with. With the anniversary of his wife’s death and now a dead body being found the last thing he needs is an FBI agent coming into town and making an already stressful time even worse.
Liza Bartholomew has returned to the County on the trail of a dangerous man who keeps evading her. This could be her chance to finally capture him and bring him to justice but she needs the co-operation of the local sheriff who isn’t exactly thrilled to see her.
Could there possible be a connection between the sheriff’s murder and the dangerous man Liza is after? When everyone they love and care about becomes targets they realise they need to work together if they are going to stop the person responsible. Is it possible for them to even work together? What will happen when the feelings turn from a dislike of each other into something romantic. How dangerous will it be for both of them to let down their guards and allow someone in to their lives.
This book is a real page turner which I couldn’t put down. There is so many angles to this story but the way they all come together as they story unfolds really make these books enjoyable to read.

Faking the Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 4) by Libby Kay – Review by Kerry Carr

Faking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls NovelFaking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls Novel by Libby Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the Buckeye Falls Series. Even though it is part of a series these books can be read as a standalone which I love because each story focuses on a different couple but all are set in Buckeye Falls. The author writing style is captivating and gripping which draws the reader in from the first page. The characters are well developed, you actually feel like you know them as friends. These books are sweet romance stories, they are never plain sailing, there is a lot of ups and downs along the way as our main characters fight for their happy ever after.
This story is about Alice and James. Alice was a bit of a wild child and her reputation in Buckeye Falls still lingers on as the local residents love to remind her. After she spent time away studying and travelling she now returns hoping for some peace and quiet. However the residents have other ideas and see this as the perfect opportunity to get her to settle down and change her wild ways. While Alice isn’t completely against the idea of settling down she refuses to settle for someone everyone else picks or pushes her way.

James is a divorcee who has come to Buckeye Falls to restart his life. He’s hoping being in a peaceful place will help his creativity but what he finds is just empty space and not spark of creativity to be see. That is until he meets Alice. Now James wants to spend more time with her, being in her presences helps his creative juice flow.
So Alice sees an opportunity. Why don’t she and James pretend to be dating? Everyone could win. James gets to spend more time with Alice, and Alice gets all the locals off her back about settling down. It’s the perfect solution.

But what happens when faking it becomes something else? When the kisses and touches light a spark between them? What happens when the fake relationship starts to feel like the real thing?

I love this couple so much. Alice is definately my favourite. I love how she knows her own mind and isn’t afraid to speak it.

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen – Review by Kerry Carr

Alterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillAlterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing series. It is a sci fi Thriller which I was completely invested in. The author’s writing is captivating and kept me engaged from beginning to end.

The first book is Alterations and it follows the story of 3 women and a scientist/doctor. Doctor Kite has found a way to control these women using microchips in their bodies. 1 helps a woman to heal, 1 helps a woman to lose and maintain her weight and the 3rd helps a women overcome the stress of the divorcee. But what happens when these micro chips malfunction? What is the consequences of allowing a foreign object into your body to control an area of your life? Will these Microchips become the most amazing creation ever discovered or will the side effects and consequences when something goes wrong out weight the positives.

Book 2 is called Game Changer. We are back with Gigi, Lilly and Ellen and Dr Kite. All of there lives have moved forward and the women seem to be making their own path in life. Gigi has finally found love with her flatmate but will it last or will something find a way of coming between them? Ellen has finally lost the weight she wanted and she’s done it on her own. Now she’s a single mum after her one night stand with Brad but life’s great she’s changed career and is happy. But what happens when Brad reappears in her life?
Lilly can’t forgive Dr Kite for what he did to her and with her hatred for men stronger than ever no one is safe from her attempts to get revenge.
And finally we have Dr Kite. After his warehouse burned down he left town and moved somewhere no one knows him. After a while of self pity he meets a woman called Tiffany. Could she be the woman to bring him happiness? Is she all that she seems? And what happens when the Dr decides to play god again with his microchips?

The final book is called Primal Will. This book is just as captivating as the first too. It is fast paced and the twist and turns keep you guessing. As this is the final book we get the answers of what happens with all our characters. Do they get their happy endings? Do they things they thought would make them happy turn out to have the opposite effect? Is Lily pushing because of a need for revenge or is she seeing a business opportunity? And what happens with the man who started all this madness Dr Kite. Is he allowed his happy ending? Is he a good man who thought he was doing something good? Or is he a man who wants to manipulate and control people?

These books have been amazing to read
I loved everyone of them.

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Kerry Carr

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the McIntire County Series. I have loved these books from the first one. Each story can be read as a standalone however personally I do advise to read them from the start so you get a better idea of the characters, their links to each other and the pasts they share.
This story is a crime mystery story with a sprinkle of Suspense and romance thrown into the mix.
In this story we are with Jolie and Xavier.
Jolie has has a tough time of things with her brother turning out to be a killer and the pressure from her father to do well and progress in her career she has a lot going on. Now with a missing girl to find the pressure ramps up even more. So the last thing she wanted to find was a dead body and Xavier next to it covered in blood.
Now she has more questions that answers. Why would someone murder this person? And even though all the evidence is pointing to Xavier could he really be the killer? Is Xavier’s sudden memory loss just a convenient tactic or is there something going on with Xavier that Jolie doesn’t know.
Xavier is a former marine who was left with a traumatic brian injury after an IED exploded taking away his leg in the process. He is a secretive man, no one really knows much about his past or his continued issues with the brain injury that causes him to black out. When he is found with the body he realises things look bad and with no memory of what actually happened he doesn’t even know himself if he committed the crime or not.
As Jolie starts to investigate she realises links between this missing girl and a cold case which if that’s the case means that Xavier  is innocent. But as the evidence mounts there seem to be more questions than answers and with Xavier  being secretive about his past it makes it even harder to trust him.

Jolie believes Xavier is innocent and is determined to prove that even if that means at times her judegment is impaired and causing her to put her job on the line. He is innocent? Or is Jolie to stubborn and so determined to be proved right that she will discard things that don’t paint the picture she expects.
This is a fast paced murder mystery with 2 main characters that have their flaws but they are trying to work through them.
Jolie’s character was a little unsure of herself to begin with so it was lovely to watch her grow and blossom, and also Xavier’s character it was nice to see him let down so of his boundaries and let people see the real him.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next one.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kerry Carr

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok where to start with this review. This author has blown my mind time and time again. This is book 6 in the Hidden Valley Elite and yes you most definately have to read them in order. This series is amazing as we follow 4 guys, Cole, Damon, Phoenix and Shane as they fight to fulfill their dreams of joining the NFL why tackling problems and issues in their personal lifes. Every one of them is flawed and damaged in some way but the love of a good woman changes things.

This is part 2 of Phoenix and Aspens story. The first part was Cruel Hate which left us on a cliff hanger as they were involved in a car accident. Now I don’t want to give anything away so you need to read it to find out if they were OK or what lasting effects accorded because of it.
The character growth in this book is amazing and so beautiful to see as Aspen and Phoenix finally drop their guards and start to let each other in. However
there are so many secrets and lies to uncover and unravel in this story. The road to Phoenix and Aspen’s HEA isn’t going to be easy especially when there is a force against them plotting to destroy them.
Honestly this series is just captivating. I was holding my breath for this book and I wasn’t let down. And yet again we are left with a cliff hanger of an ending.
Now I want to know what is happening with the final guy Shane. I can’t wait to carry on with this series.

A Death on Fools Lane (An Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by Kerry Carr

A Death on Fools Lane (Eve Sawyer Mystery #4)A Death on Fools Lane by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the Eve Sawyer series. Each one can be read as a standalone, however if you like cosy Mysteries then this series is definately for you. The author’s writing is really good and the twist and turns in the story will keep you guessing and reading until the end to find out what actually happens.

In this story we are back with Eve as her and her friends plan on housesitting during their winter break. It was supposed to be a relaxing break away. However things take a sudden change when a man is found dead in the back garden of the house they are watching.
At first glance it seems just a sad case of suicide but after speaking to the deceased mother Eve isn’t convinced. Was this a suicide or was it murder?
Now Eve and her friends try to solve this case to determine once and for all what has happened and who if anyone is responsible.

This is a fast paced read with twists and turns and secrets to be revealed. As Eve tries to solve this case will she be putting herself in danger by looking in places she shouldn’t be looking?

When We Fell Again by Julie Archer – Review by Kerry Carr

When We Fell AgainWhen We Fell Again by Julie Archer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fast paced second chance rockstar romance. It has all the elements of a story filled with angst, drama, tension, jealousy and misunderstandings. The author does an amazing job of allowing the reader into that world. Allowing us to see all the imperfections that go on behind the scenes and what impact it has on everyone involved. The characters of Jordan and Alexis are really well written and even though at times I wanted to bang their heads together their chemistry was off the charts.
Jordan and Alexis had dated when they were younger but due to insecurities and jealousy on Jordan’s part it ended up tearing them apart.
Fast forward and Jordan is the lead singer in the band and Alexis is asked to go with them on tour as a tour manager their paths cross again. As the old sparks rekindle will they fall back into their love they once knew or will the anger and jealousy that drive them apart the last time show itself and destroy this relationship a second time.
Will Alexis allow her heart to be broken twice by the same man?
Will Jordan finally win back the women he loved and lost.
Their ride won’t be an easy one and with the added pressure of making this come back tour a success this won’t be a easy ride for either of them. The challenges will be many but can they successed together?

Heart’s Rescue (Fallen Hearts) by Meredith Hart – Review by Kerry Carr

Heart's Rescue (Hearts Below, #1)Heart’s Rescue by Meredith Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 1 of the Hearts Below series. I was captivated by this book from the first page. It is a paranormal romance which is my favourite anyway but the author’s amazing write created a world and characters that I loved. The two main characters of Rowan and Arryn are both so well written that they jump off the page.
This is a enemies to lovers story which is full of action, adventure and steamy romance.
When Arryn’s betrothed goes missing she takes it upon herself to find him. Little does she realise that he has landed in World Below.
After she falls there herself she finds herself in a dangerous world she doesn’t understand.
Rowan is a guard who has to take over patrolling Worlds Below after his brother was injured by a monster from the World Above.
When he comes across Arryan he knows she is a monster and should destroy her on sight however there is something different about her. As they work together to try and get Arryan back to the world above Rowan realises he doesn’t want to let her go.
