“Mira and Carl are enemies. They are also brother and sister.”

This book focuses on the mutual love that is shared by siblings. By mutual love, I mean the torturous kind where one tries to outdo their sibling(s). Things like fighting over where to sit in the car, what book to read, what activity to participate in, etc. Mira and Carl find that they have so much fun that they want to do it again tomorrow!

This is a cute kids book and another one by a favorite author! Small children who have siblings will be able to identify with Mira and Carl and their daily antics. This book shows who a person can be individual but yet still participate in the activities and lives of others.

What happens when a day at the beach does not go as planned? Well grab a copy of Super Enemies by Lois to find out.

A superhero, castle, mortal enemies and an ingenious super villain who have starring roles in this children’s tale where brother and sister are pit against each other. Neither of them is willing to back down. Could it be that they are destined to be enemies for life. Will the bonds of siblings win out in the end, and will this make them stronger together than before?

This story made me chuckle as I remember my grandbabies antics. One in particular loves to torment his brother. The little rascal laughs and watches his parents as he does it.

The colourful illustrations help the story along. Aged for children 4 – 8 years old.

Super Enemies by Lois Wickstrom is a super fun lighthearted fun read! I truly enjoy the way this author write’s and I just devoured this story! I really liked the fact that she showcased in this story the fact that brothers and sisters do not always get along. She was showing real life, which is something that anyone can relate to, which is not always getting along with your sibling. I think that this is a wonderful story! I cannot wait to see what the next story that comes out is about because I just love her books!!

This book was adorable. The story was beautiful and adventurous. So many bright illustrations to keep a child’s interest. I loved that the author included lessons and fun throughout the book. I can’t wait to read this to my child. I highly recommend this to parents of children who enjoy interactive stories.

Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.

Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children, four grandchildren and a dog.

Wow what a great fantasy book. I like finding different genres and this is quite a little gem. I like how the author takes the magical world and paints a wonderful story. The characters have a bit of complexity that brings depth to the story. I really like how there is a bit of drama as well as adventure. I really thought this was a good book and a little out of my genre selection but was very glad that I did read it. I will definitely be reading more from this author in future.

Lois did another knock out wonderful book! This is aimed for I would say tween years but even as an adult it was super cute and really easy to follow.<br />Gwendolyn is an aspiring journalist, well when she’s woken up abruptly she changes into what ever she is dreaming about. Well suprise! She’s woken up and she’s an ELK! Now Gwendolyn has to figure out how to shift back to herself, but also learn how to be what she shifts into, but as an elk in hunting season this could be a little dicey. This is a journey Gwendolyn has to learn how to adapt to this new form.

This book is so cute ! The story is intriguing & adventurous. Full of beautiful illustrations & adorable scenes. I read this to my kids for a bedtime story, & they asked for it again & again. We loved the poetic vibe & the mystery. There are also fantastic little activities at the end that were so fun! I’m so happy to have discovered Lucas & I hope there will be more adventures to go on with him!

This was so much fun to read! It had familiar characters from other fairytales to attract children. The Queen was the fairest in the land so everyone came to her to solve their problems. What happens when the magic mirror shows that both sides are right? The Queen sends Snow White to investigate and she really that the Queen is not being fair. A perfect story to teach children to have good morals. At the back of the book you also learn how mirrors work. It’s very cool!

This was a really good book! It was colorful, the illustrations were wonderful, it had a great story and lesson about fairness inside, and it was also very enthralling! I really enjoyed reading this one. And if you continue the whole way through, you may also find a small science lesson at the end. I can’t wait to read it to my daughter when she gets older!

This book brings a twist to well loved fairytales with the Queen, Snow White, dwarves, a magic mirror, dragons and more.

The Queen is the fairest ruler in the land, and is always brought issues between the other characters to come to the fairest conclusion. When she makes the fairest decision, the magic mirror shows a sparkle of fairness in her eyes. One day, a pair of dwarves come with a problem in which the Queen can’t come up with a fair solution. Snow White goes out to investigate and find a fair solution. What is the problem? Can Snow White and the Queen solve it fairly?

Again, I read this story with my youngest son. He says it’s a good story. He also said it teaches the important life lesson that you should always pay your employees… While I’m glad he got that point, I think the bigger one is to always try to treat any situation fairly. This story helps explain this to the tiny humans.

This book teaches a very good lesson. It really points out that you have to look at things from another’s point of view sometimes. Life isn’t always fair but if you can be fair you should. This is another illustrated book by this wonderful storytelling author that I had to pick up for the kids. This one did not disappoint me either. I loved how she threw in some of the Snow White fable yet managed to make it her own without a wicked queen. In fact, the queen in this story is completely opposite and wants to help the people of her kingdom. As with most of her books there are many lessons to learn. I also love how she included a few science experiments again, but this time using a mirror. Once again, the illustrations were fabulous, and the colors jump off the page. Another terrific book to pick up for your own children or to give as gifts.

A family arrives and purchases Albert the Turkey for their Thanksgiving feast. Albert tries his best to show he is worth having a pardon like he saw the President do to another turkey.

This is a fun story that incorporates voting into Thanksgiving turkey farms. A good lesson about even though their are traditions sometimes not everything has to be set in stone.

My daughter and I absolutely loved reading this book together. She loved the storyline and thought Gwendolyn was a sweet girl that she related to. Gwendolyn being a dream shifter, dreams about an elk one night and when she wakes up from her dream she is still an Elk! During hunting season no less! You follow Gwendolyn through her missteps, and she learns how to control her power, but the magician isn’t very helpful at some times. Does Gwendolyn become a girl again or does she have to remain the rest of her life as an elk?! The story was well written and my daughter who is 10 could read it with no problem, and enjoyed it immensely! I recommend it to young girls who love fairytales and a strong protagonist!

This book is just the perfect length and has a little bit of everything for the younger audience. Full of fantasy, magic, amazing characters and more I simply couldn’t put this book down. I have personally never read anything but this author but after reading this amazing tale I will definitely be looking for more. This particular book focuses on love and acceptance and I’m sure it does an amazing job of teaching that. I know I will definitely be sharing this amazing story with daughter when she’s old enough.
