I love Oscar and Emmy series. In this book, Oscar and Emmy visit the vet, it is all about caring for pets and how to keep them healthy. It covers the topics on what to expect in a vet clinic and the procedures which the vet follows with the pets, their vaccinations, dental care etc. It has a lot of useful information, the story is simple, easy to follow and is complemented by a lot of colorful pictures. Highly recommend to all the children who have pets or planning to get a pet in their household.

My kids and I have read a few books by this author before, so we were excited to see another one come out! Even though both of my kiddos are a little above the target audience, we all still enjoyed the story immensely. There are such colorful and eye-catching illustrations inside which definitely add a bit more to the story. Joe starts his morning spelling his name with alphabet cereal and my kids thought it was the coolest thing ever! Now they definitely want alphabet cereal. Joe is excited to go to school and learn how to read. Will he get the chance to learn on his first day? Both my kids were shocked that Joe was just walking around town by himself. Thank goodness for Bea! I highly recommend adding this to your library at home, at daycare, or at school. This is a wonderful read for young kiddos!

My kids and I absolutely adore the Porter and Midge series because with each one we find another way to connect with our furry friends. This one has become our favorite that we have found in the series because we’re a family of bakers! The story is pretty short which kept the attention of my 8-year-old. We spent a ton of time together baking treats for not only our furr-mily but for the entire neighborhood (with their human’s permission, of course). There are so many recipes inside and a little note at the end with a few guidelines to explain why we use the ingredients we do for canines. I highly recommend this for you to share with family and friends! It will surely bring some fun and love into the household with your pups having happy tummies!

This is a beautiful alphabet book. I love that it uses new and different words for each letter. The pictures for each letter and word are full of color and whimsy. It was nice to see that there are definitions for each of the words as well. This is a wonderful way to introduce new words to little ones.

This is the most beautiful book I have ever seen! The pictures are exquisite and so alive with color and detail. The definitions are at the back of the book for each picture, which is pretty cool. Porter and Midge and their pups have embarked on a new adventure. This time they are making their pups homemade dog treats. Paws and Pastries was adorable, well written, and well illustrated. I have always enjoyed spoiling my own dogs by making their food and homemade treats, so I’m always on the look out for new recipes to try, which this little book had quite a few of. It also discussed responsibility with their animals, recipes, using quality ingredients, nutrition, and for cooking with adult supervision. I really enjoy these children’s books.

This is such a great book for kids. Showing how they can make homemade treats for dogs. Including the recipes and most importantly a warning on what dogs cannot have is great. I was a little unsure about reading this book with my kids as we aren’t a very religious family and I wasn’t sure how they would take it. However, they really seemed to engage with the story, especially my daughter who has been starting to learn about Christianity at school. This was the kind of book that led to a thoughtful and interesting discussion. It was lovely to watch Andrew on his journey. The notes clearly meant to so much to him, and did so much for him. The author created them to be such a heart warming way to push him to believe in himself. The illustrations just made Andrew come to life even more. We all enjoyed this book in the end and we are all looking forward to more from this author.
I really like the concept behind this story of not only the different types of homes, but also the different types of families within those homes. I love the sing-songy nature of the story and the illustrations that went along so well too. We also get to see different animals in their habitats as Ann has incorporated that into the different types of homes she represents. It’s just so imaginative and bold and bright and colorful and diverse. I really do love this book and Kim Ann is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. Reviewed by @meggs1717

I absolutely love the Porter and Midge series and I think this might be one of my favorites. In this installment, we get to hang out with Lora and CJ in the kitchen as they make treats for the doggies. I love the rhyming aspect of this story as well as the illustrations. But I think the thing I love the most is that at the end of the story there are recipes upon recipes for dog-safe treats for you and your littles to try. I love how interactive this book is. A book about how pets are taken care of when the family goes on vacation. Oscar and Emmy are staying with Grandma while the family is away. The cats might be unsure of the new location but soon find their way with Grandma’s help. Oscar and Emmy not only visit grandma but also meet some animals they’ve never seen before during their visit. This book would be great for families to read before an short or extended trip. Love the illustration and story that I feel kids will relate to.
Absurd Said Bird is absolutely adorable! It had become a new favorite bedtime story in our household. The story is very simple for kids to follow while still holding their attention captive. The images are so cute. Definitely recommend!

Jennie Chen has been active in purpose bred dogs since 2001 earning over 75 titles in conformation, competitive obedience, rally, herding, lure coursing, weight pull, drafting, water rescue, packing, and animal assisted therapy. Her first AKC Champion was a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Ch Dixieland Blazing Maximus, CGC, HIT, SS, SWET, WETT, HIC, WETX, WTXX, WPD, DD, WWDS, RN, CD, THDA, VGS, 2017 GSMDCA Ambassador of the Breed, “Mouse.” Mouse was the first Greater Swiss Mountain Dog to earn any Water Rescue titles, and he was spokesdog for the Keep Austin Dog Friendly trend for many years appearing in magazines, news clips, and serving the community as an animal assisted therapy dog. Keep Austin Dog Friendly was nominated for a Webby Award in 2016.
In addition to Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, she also owns a pride of Lowchen or The Little Lion Dogs. In 2019, she piloted her Lowchen, GCHS Musicbox Got Your Six at Roman Reign “Target” to #1 All-Systems, #1 OH for 2019 and 2020. Target went on to win the Breed at the AKC National Championship in 2019, Westminster in 2020, and Best in Specialty Show in 2021.
Jennie has served on various board and committee positions in the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America, the Lowchen Club of America, as well as regional Newfoundland and Bernese Mountain Dog Clubs. She is a GSMDCA draft judge and weight pull judge.
Giselle Nevada
Originally from the Philippines, Giselle came to the US to attend Wellesley College where she studied Economics. After graduation, she worked in managing risk/compliance teams, specializing in machine learning and more recently, risk policy.
Giselle has owned several mastiffs over the past 20 years, some from reputable breeders and others she rescued as adults. Her experience with rescuing and fostering mastiffs led her to become interested in socialization as a way of preventing future issues. She enjoys working with her dogs and has trained them in various canine sports such as carting, conformation, agility, rally, trick dog, nose work, and more. Her puppy, Porter, is an example of the success of early socialization, having earned multiple performance dog titles and even starred in a movie directed by Marian Yeager called “Match Me If You Can.”
Giselle is an active member of various dog clubs such as the Scentwork ATX Club, Capitol Dog Training Club of Austin, and the Mastiff Club of America. She has lived in Austin for over two decades, and her passion for dogs and socialization continues to inspire her work.

Having read a book by this author before.I was super excited to pick up another.One we read this one tonight before bedtime. I had one of the Littles read it, and it flowed perfectly. The artwork was adorable and kept the Littles engaged. I also really enjoyed this book. The littlest one is learning to read and has just started walking around finding letters and sounding them out so it’s kinda perfect for the times he gets frustrated and needs a reminder that it takes time. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I love how educational Oscar and Emmy’s books are. The book Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet is a great book for young pet owners. It helps explain why it is important to visit the vet, not just when your pet is injured or sick but also as a preventative. The book is written in a way for children to understand. It also goes over behaviors the pets might have when visiting the vet- like being scared or anxious. It also explains what anesthesia is, which I thought was pretty cool. There are additional pages after the story for cat owners to learn more about the routines we learned about in the book. The illustrations are so bright and colorful, and capture Oscar and Emmy’s individual personalities.

Wonderful faith based children’s story. Andrew is a little boy who loves many adventures. As he gets a bit older, having a brave sword, helmet and all the things to be a warrior is meant to be. Being brave, big and strong is all Andrew holds dear. When not feeling so brave, Andrew learns that it will be ok and he is not alone…..
The illustrations are colorful and very engaging and the overall story is just lovely. I believe this is a great book for the littles and also the young at heart. This story truly made my heart smile.
What a cute story. I love that the children were involved in the trip to the vet. I also loved how Mom told the children that the cats go to the vet just as we go to the doctor. So many things were discussed and explained to the children So they felt like part of the visit. This is a must have if you have pets. It keeps the children informed, as well as comfortable with Dr.s. This author did a fantastic job with this story. It was fast paced and easy to follow.

This cute children’s book talks about all the places people and some animals live. The illustrations are great. The words are simple and easy to understand. A quick easy read for little ones. Kim Ann has written another great children’s book. Teaching that no matter where one lives, home is where the heart is.

G is for Gossamer by Miss Whitaker was an absolutely visually stunning abc book. My daughter quite enjoyed the pictures as they were beautiful and I felt they explained the word well. Having the glossary in the back of the book was extremely helpful. There were many words that were not part of our everyday vocabulary so being able to explain what they meant and show her how to define a word was a great experience. Though not a practical book for actually learning abc, it was perfect for practice, learning new words and concepts. Truly a beautiful addition to our library!
