My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dating the It Guy is a young adult romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager. As far as stories in this genre go, it was not a bad story. There was a lot contained in these pages. Emotion, tension, insecurities, competition and a lot more. The characters were varied and each carried their own complexities. There was also the ever present teenage drama to add to the mix. The author penned a fairly decent story that was appealing, engaging and never lacking in dramatic flair. A great story for lovers of this trope. 4 stars.

If only they would allow me to give me more options for the stars! I want to give this a solid 4.5 because I have loved everything by Krysten Lindsay Hager that I have managed to get my hands on. This is an adorable YA romance. Emme has had a tough time after breaking up with her previous boyfriend. Trust is a difficult thing to come by, especially when you’re attempting to trust someone that you feel is so far out of your league. Constantly comparing yourself to their exes and everyone else that finds themselves in their inner circle. Brendon appears to be far more down to earth than anyone on the outside looking in could have predicted. He wants more out of life than what his family has planned for him and he has his sights set on Emme. Their relationship goes through typical ups and downs that you would expect with a high school couple, but there are subtle differences that make this book stand out from the rest and make it so enjoyable to read. The amount of emotions I had while reading this is one of the main reasons I will always grab a KLH book when I have the opportunity! Get this for yourself or recommend it to someone who loves YA romance and would enjoy the amazing storytelling for themselves!

This is a beautifully written YA romance. The author goes a great job of making the reader really feel all the emotions of the characters in this story. You go on a journey with the leading lady Emme.
Emme is sent to summer school when her internship falls through. There is is partnered up with the schools IT guy. Why does she respond in the way she does towards him? It’s not like he’s going to feel the same way about her. Or does it?

Brendon is a hot guy and also the senators son. He invites Emme into his world and boy is it a shock to her system.
Should Emme follow her instincts with regards to Brendon and their connection or should she push him away and return to her crystals?

This story is full of emotions around every aspect of Emme’s life, from her feelings about Brendon, her fears and insecurities and the feelings around her ailing grandparents.

This is a full length novel. Great for teens dealing with loss. High School is hard enough, with homework, boyfriends and besties. Then the worst is the loss of a grandparent, well really any loss. This is one of the best books I have read, dealing with teens in mind.
Emme is close to her grandparents, and is dating the popular Brendon Agretti all while going to high school. When Emme’s grandmother falls ill, she finds herself trying to keep everything normal. Which proves hard as her grandfather is also in poor health, and seems lost. Also dating Brendon has its challenges. Read and find out how Emme deals with such trying times.

Krysten Lindsay Hager really pulled out all the stops with this coming of age story. I wish this was available when I was in school. I love Emme and her friends. Dealing with high school and home life is hard enough. This quick reading page turner holds so many questions that can be answered while reading this story. I recommend this to teens and adults dealing with losing a family member. Well Done Krysten Lindsay Hager! Well Done! ! !

Dating the It guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager a fantastic four-star read. I adore this author and the way they make me feel like a teenage again. Emme was such a good character, she is so easy to understand and feel for. The rest of the characters were great, Brendon was a surprise for me and he really stood up. It was Emme’s grandparents that really got me, maybe as my own Nanna isn’t well right now, I don’t know. This was a great story and a great author that you shouldn’t miss.

Cute, clean YA romance.
This was a super-sweet YA story. Emme is a very self-conscious teen that is open to astrology and who faces so many trials. I found most of the characters relatable, even if they came across shallow. Emme and Brandon’s relationship spent most of the book being tested, which started to wear thin (too much angst) but did redeem itself. The book deals with a mix of issues and there were some good messages throughout about trust, honesty and communication.

I am not even sure where to start!!! I can tell you that I am crushing hard on the male lead in this book, but more importantly it reminded me of many life lessons that I continue to still work on. This is a young adult romance story that is about a girl named Emme. Emme is a sophomore in high school having to deal with a lot of life changing events. She is dealing with a sick grandmother, a sick grandfather, school, finding her soulmate, etc. while trying to figure out her way in the world. She starts to fall for a boy named Brendon who is the senator’s son. Well she comes to find out looks can be deceiving – in good and bad ways. The two of them have ups and downs in their relationship due to, one of the most common issues in all relationships, communication malfunctions.

As an older woman, I got really mad at Emme in a lot of the story because I just wanted to reach out and tell her it gets better, as women we get better, don’t be so stupid or quick to judge, listen as much as you want to be listened to, and that our thought process does get better as we age and learn. I remember being young, crazy, paranoid, and all the unknowing ideas that come with being young and in love. Women, as many of us know, are complicated creatures. How we end up that way I am not sure, but for many we learn the hard way about getting to where we are going. The one thing I really loved about Brendon was how he also recognized the crazy but kept pushing forward as much as he could because he knew she was worth it. That to me is the true sign of unconditional love – knowing the person is crazy, but knowing you want to be a part of that crazy.

Emme is a high school freshman that finds herself in a relationship with Brendon, the senator’s son. Throughout the book it’s a evident that Emme struggles with self-esteem and Brendon struggles with the pressure of who he’s supposed to be versus who he actually is. Although it’s been 10 years since I was a high school freshman one thing for sure is that I communicated with my friends mainly via text versus email like in the movie. I did talk a lot on the phone with crushes so that portion was relatable, but I have never used email communication outside of business. Emme also changed her emotions very rapidly frequently which threw me off a bit. The storyline is solid, but I couldn’t get into the way it came about throughout the book.

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a sweet, cute, YA story- about first love, teenage drama + angst, friendship, dating the ‘popular’ guy, miscommunications, family drama, emotion, romance, self-doubt, grief, and heartache.
It is definitely a YA story- although it isn’t quite so light and ‘fluffy’ as others. This does have an emotional component with the family complexities faced by Emme. The miscommunication and teen drama were a little frustrating for me, but still a nice story overall, with just enough added complexity, angst, and drama to keep things interesting- while still keeping things suitable for the younger (YA) reader.

Thank you, Krysten Lindsay Hager!

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager YA contemporary romance where insecurities rein. The usual emotions, drama, angst, and jealousy. But let’s not forget the mind games others play when they don’t get what they want but there is also some deep feeling due to family issues. I would not like to go back and relive that time in my life. There are characters that you can’t help but like and then there are those who you just want to rip into and give a piece of your mind with a healthy dose of a slap.

Dating the “IT guy” should be a wonderful thing, but with it comes self-doubt and feelings of never being enough when compared to others and deep-seated insecurities.

This is a young adult story that I fully enjoyed. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters. They are connectable and give life to the story. This is a story that is written with a lot of heart and you can feel it on each page you read. This is a fast paced story that I would recommend for any young adult. This is a story about Emme and her insecurities about relationships. Will she get over these insecurities in order to have a relationship with Brendon? Brendon is a boy that everyone wants to be with and has an ex that is determined to get him back. What happens with these two I highly suggest reading this book to find out. They are great characters and I enjoyed their growth together. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This book has a great story. I like how the main character Hadley, learns about herself in this journey of a high school summer. Hadley learns all about friendships, mean girls, and boys while visiting her grand parents for the summer. I would have loved to live next door to a TV show star and become friends and make memories for a lifetime to remember. I definitely recommend this book!!

This book made you feel like you were back in high school with all the teen spirit and teen relationship problems.
Hadley is the new girl and has her sights on Nick and lucky for Hadley, Nick has his eye on her. So it should be golden. Right? With high school drama there comes a lot of jealousy and questioning of everything. This story takes you through all the ins and outs of teen relationships, friend betrayal and total heartbreak.
Will Hadley and Nick last though all the drama that unfolds?

This is the second book in Hagar’s Star series and it is every bit as good as the last.

So Hadley’s life is a lot better off starting out in this book then the first. She’s living in Grand Haven, where she can see her grandparents and favorite aunt whenever she wants. She’s got a great, sweet boyfriend. Unfortunately it’s not all perfect, since her boyfriend is currently being pursued by a former television star; whom he used to have a huge crush on by the way.

Hagar has the kind of writing style that will transform you back into a teenager. From every insecure feeling, to family, friendships and relationships.

Competing with the Star by Ms. Krysten Lindsay Hager is one of the better stories that I have read this summer. The thing that I love most about Ms. Hager’s stories are how realistic everything is. Everything that is included in her stories is something that could easily happen in real life, and it helps keep her readers glued to the pages. Her main characters in Competing with the Star are beautifully written, both characters have a kindness that will make you feel warm and fuzzy, and their personalities are so caring they will make your heart melt. Competing with the Star is full of friendship, first loves, and the ups and downs of life in general, making it a very easy story to get lost in. So if your looking for a great summer read then I highly recommend Competing with the Star.

Krysten Lyndsay Hager had done it again. I loved this second book in the series. Hadley seems to adjusting to her new life after moving. She has the perfect boyfriend, Nick and lots of new friends including ex star Simone. Could things come crashing down? Hadley had been talking to Simone and letting her know how sweet and caring Nick is. Simone has never looked at Nick in that way until now, could this ruin Hadley’s friendship with Simone and her relationship with Nick? What will happen with these new feelings.

Competing With The Star is the second book in the Star series by Krysten Lindsay Hager.

I highly recommend this series! I really enjoyed this second book and felt I connected with the characters even more than when I read the first book, Next Door to a Star.

Hadley is at her new school with her new friends and her cute boyfriend, Nick. Life is the best it has been for her since she moved to Grand Haven. She and Nick have a great friendship and a great relationship as well and they can talk to each other about just about anything.

When Hadley finds out her boyfriend used to have a huge crush on her best friend Simone, Hadley’s whole world gets shaken up, and not necessarily in a good way! What could possibly go wrong when your best friend is a former TV star?

I really felt connected to this book and series as a whole. Even as an older adult, I could relate to how Hadley felt about that first relationship and the feelings of insecurity and if she was good enough or doing the right things. I could also relate to the friendships, and lack thereof, and how you don’t always know if your friends are who you think they are in the end.

YA contemporary is one of my favourite genres and I really feel this series would be a great addition to any young teens book collection and I highly recommend it for the 12-18 year old age range. I hope that someday Krysten writes a third book to let readers find out what happens between Hadley and Nick and the rest of the gang.

This book is about High School crushes, loves, drama and betrayal all wrapped up in one. Hadley finally is happy in a new school and has a boyfriend, Nick. Hadley is not totally secure on her looks or friendships and Nick is very sweet guy….but they have such a great relationship and also friendship building in this story. There is heartbreaking betrayal with Nick and one of Hadley’s friends, Simone. Will Hadley and Nick’s relationship survive on an ultimate betrayal?

When your young you can be full of insecurities about who you are and how you compare against other people.

So when Hadley seems to have life working right with good friends and a good caring boyfriend she is just waiting for something to go wrong. And go wrong it did but is the person she’s blaming really the one to blame or is there a snake in her friends?

It is a story of finding love, getting your heartbroken and working your way through fear, emotion and insecurity to get what you want.
