This Sci Fi Adventure story is certainly different. We are taken on a journey to another place or is it another time? It seems this author has many different genres, but I guess that is what you get when you read from the artistic view of an author, musician, songwriter, and composer. His writing shows he is an eclectic person loves to engage, captivate, and entertain and keep his audience on their toes. I think it would be very interesting to get inside his head, although I am not sure I would find my way back. Anyhoo, you will find yourself strangely intrigued by this quirky and vividly imaginative tale if you are able see things from outside what is considered the norm.

This book is unlike anything I have read before. I have never had a book that has drawn me in and kept me there just waiting to see what happens next. I am usually a romantic comedy kind of girl and this story is far from that. There are moments when you are just reading along and holding your breath hoping that nothing bad happens. Then you take that deep breath and just read along anxiously hoping that the main characters get from point A to point B with out failing. This book was very interesting and I hope there is a sequel, I really would like to know what is next for our adventurers.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into this book. It is a new author to me and with such a vague description it almost felt like going in blind. For me this book was all about the characters. They are what initially oulled me into the story and they are also what kept my interest the most. The author makes it so easy to believe the characters and their story. I found myself completely absorbed by them.
I really enjoyed this story. It is what I expected but it was well written and a great read. This is definitely worth your time.

This was a book, not to be passed up in any form or shape at all! I found the adventure astounding in more ways than one. The descriptive techniques by the author really created a visual masterpiece I really enjoyed how the story flowed, with the author’s technique and making the story come to life!

I am someone as much as Thomas I would say, who loves to go on the adventure of a nature walk, but I like him, would not expect anything more to come of it. What happened to him was visually amazing and something beyond his eyes and mind I would say. I loved the adventure itself, what he got experience was something that an experience for the reader as well, visually speaking. I loved how things flowed from that moment on and what happened and what Thomas got to experience. Breathtaking book, I could not put this one down. It was a book I will not forget reading. When I concluded it, I felt very much at peace, and full of amazement with visual images soaring through my mind! Loved it!

A very impressive author in writing I would say! Highly recommend this thrilling adventure and this very creative author as well. Both are very high on my recommendation list! Truly a treat, and not one that should even be considered to be past up. The book takes you on a journey, that is far beyond the far corners of your imagination. Loved this beautiful book and for all it contained!

Excellent book! I was so engrossed in this story and absolutely did not want it to end! I really hope there will be more added onto this book soon, I really want to see what happens with April and Thomas in their future. I really liked reading about this world they stumble upon and the quick friendship they formed, even with an age gap. Everything was so vividly explained and described that it was really easy to picture what this world looked like. Dorito leaves was a funny way to describe the taste of the food, and calling whatever creature they met Flick. This was a really fun read, and I can’t wait to check out more by this author.

I really enjoyed this sci-fi adventure story. The author does an amazing job of world building and the description of the world inside the cave to the world outside the cave is what really makes the reader feel they have crossed over into another place.

The characters are well written. Both are adventurous and wanting to learn more about the place they have found no matter how crazy it seems.

The main point of this story for me is the characters resilience and their determination to survive what ever this new world throws their way. Using only their combined knowledge they need to figure out what this place is and why its there. What I liked is the fact that the characters do get things wrong which makes them feel very real and human.
You are taken on a adventure into a strange unknown world. And they only have their  knowledge and health  to survive the tasks and things that will be thrown at them. Will they survive this unique and different world?

I enjoyed this adventure story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed their writing style as well as their attention to details. This is a well written story where the characters pull you in from the beginning. It is a story about Thomas and what happens when he sets out on a hike. The thing about this hike is something that he did not expect and an adventure of a lifetime. He is a great character that brought the story to life. He made me want to know what was going to happen next. This is a fast paced story that will take you on an adventure that was hard to put down. An engaging story that you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed the character growth as well as the growth of the plot. I really enjoyed this book and what the characters brought to the story. I highly recommend it.

Lines by Leon by Leon Stevens – Review by Mandy Ott

I really liked this collection of poetry by Leon Stevens. Many of the poems spoke to me in the sense that they put into words things that I have been feeling and have felt in the past. I also love Leon’s use of descriptive language in his poems; it really painted a picture in my mind, a sort of moving poetry. The poems definitely made me think; about love, heartbreak, and loss. Various topics were also discussed in Lines by Leon, which I appreciated.

I’m trying to rack my brain around when was the last time I picked up a book a poems that I wasn’t forced to read in school. How did I forget that I enjoyed them so much? Lines by Leon felt like I was reading someone’s true organic thoughts. I’m not going to line I reread some lines over and over just to truly take in what they were saying. This isn’t a happy love sick book of poems this is a raw emotion, tell us like it really is boom of poems. As an adult who struggles with my own demons and went to school for psychology to better understand my inner workings I want more on the Author and found myself scanning the internet for more of their words to digest. I loved the little drawings that accompanied the words, it was like peering even more in-depth into the authors brain.

This book is an inspiration for me. As a writer, I have a collection of poems and short stories , all scattered around . When I read this book, it was a sign . A sign to follow one’s heart (which is what the author did). Each short story and poem is heartfelt, the author touches on various topics which involve the environment and human emotions, which are so realistic. Every word you read, you feel, that it is written in such a simple well expressed language and you can connect easily to both the prose and poetry. I absolutely loved the book. And Leon Stevens, you are an inspiration.

So typically I’m not a huge fan of poetry, but I really enjoyed reading this short book of prose by Leon Stevens. Some of them I didn’t quite understand (and that’s fine, I’ve never been great with deciphering the meaning of poetry) and others completely resonated with me. I think the two sections The Human Condition and People and Places contained my favorite pieces. I give this book 4 1/2 stars but I’m going to round up and say 5. I really did enjoy these pieces, so a big thanks to Stevens for allowing us the opportunity to read them.

This is a compilation of poetry, a couple of short stories and some illustrations throughout which combine to make a thought provoking and interesting read, it deals with a lot of subjects in the current climate, as well as ways of looking at both the light and dark sides of life, this includes personality aspects, the environment, inanimate objects, places throughout the world, from big cities to small businesses and some light-hearted sketches deposited throughout to keep the separation, as well as tying it all together. It is a collection which varies in style and is written in a manner which leaves you in a state of anticipation, wanting to know what the next item will be.

This inspirational book of poems, prose and pictures takes an observational and contemplative look at “ego, behaviour, human relations, places, and the environment”. Although the poems do address the subjects of loss, refelection, and struggle the writer has taken a more lighthearted and at times humorous take on these subjects. Each poem, prose or short story definitely makes you think and reading them can take you on an emotional rollercoaster, as the blurb says, “the author invites his readers to laugh, think, cry, and meditate on the wide variety of thoughts”. I particularly enjoyed the short stories and could have read more of them. I found the layout of the book a bit muddled, I was unsure at times where one poem ended and another started.
There were phrases and lines in the poems that really jumped out at me and resonated with me. However, some of the longer poems seemed to me to be a jumble of the authors thoughts which I did not understand. Unfortunately although I liked the inclusion of the hand drawn sketches in the book as I thought it made it feel more intimate and personal to the author, again many of them I just did not understand. I have given this book four stars because I did enjoy reading it and it has introduced me to a different genre, but as I’m not a usual poem reader I did feel that I just wasn’t ‘getting it’. However whilst reading ‘Lines by Leon’ I could see how others could get so much more out of the book than maybe I have.

Lines by Leon was a really nice break from the heavier books I’ve been reading lately. I truly enjoyed it. It was refreshing, some made me giggle a bit, and some made me think a lot! I don’t normally read or pick up books like this but I’ll be honest, the cover drew me in but the words inside kept me reading. It was awesome and I read it in one sitting.

I will definitely read more by this author.

This book definitely took me by surprise! I am a huge fan of poetry but not knowing this poet left me reserved. However, Leon Stevens did not disappoint. He takes us through a journey of his mind and soul. We get an in depth look at how he feels about many aspects of life from the environment that surrounds us to people and places. I had to read this slowly and often put it down for a bit because it triggered some deep thoughts and emotions for me. Along with his beautiful poetry, Leon Stevens also blesses readers with some of his beautiful artwork. It helped the stories to come to life a little more. I will definitely read this again.

Lines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures by Leon Stevens is a delightful compilation of images built with words. The author makes good use of all the senses, and I found myself stepping into these little “snapshots” of life and becoming fully immersed. It has been quite a while since I have found a collection that has rekindled my appreciation of good poetry. The poems are relatable and poignant, and yet there is an essence of light humor wound through. There are also sketches sprinkled purposefully throughout to add even more to this read. The structure the author uses makes the words flow seamlessly together; before I knew it, I was finished and left wanting much more. Lines by Leon is very easy to read, but stimulating to the mind, and I recommend picking this one up. 4 stars.

This is a lovely set of poems and thoughts that are by turns irreverent, melancholic, meditative, and funny. There is a theme of self in many of them, and how our identity is shaped in relation to others. In “The Human Condition” he writes of how people cluster together both for company and as a way of defining themselves: “Relying on a self portrait by others / To tell them who they are”. There are several poems that I love because of the last line. As in Trust On Sports, where he discusses the futility of getting emotionally invested in sports games, and then in the last line negates it by writing “Maybe someday it all might change/ Because I kinda miss the joy”. It’s hard to describe here how that last little sentence made me smile and feel wistful as the poem took a sharp turn I wasn’t expecting. Enough dissembling from me, just read them and see!

Lines by Leon is a wonderful collection of poems, stories, and pictures. Some of the works that spoke to me include “Smile”, “Life”, “Book Cover”, “Addiction”, “Moments”, and “The Bookstore”. These speak to me at this time in my life as they are about books, living alone, moments that have passed, and how addiction affects a person.

Here is a sample of “Time and Time Again”:
Time passes
Only when you impose a starting point
Removing that restriction
Allows for things to just…
Happen

Take time out of your novels and read a poem or a short story. You will be amazed as I was at how these short works will grab your heart.

This is a fabulous collection of insightful prose poetry and meaningful sketches. The use of imagery and rhythm were spot on. My favourite were the Environment collection and Addiction. The short story at the end was very cleverly written and entertaining. Even though this is a quick read there is something that will connect with everyone.

“As I walk amidst the slowly approaching night, along the dry cobblestones, I hear music echoing through the narrow streets. It takes a few false turns before I discover the source. Bathed in the soft light of an open door, guitar and flute intertwine their melodies like a passionate dance between two lovers.
My presence, as I lean against the brightly painted wall across the street, goes unnoticed. I listen for as long as I can until prior engagements pry this unknown audience away, retreating into the darkness.”

Lines By Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures by Leon Stevens is a great mix of poetry, short stories, pictures, and cartoons. Easy to read, this book definitely gave me much to think about. The author touches on many topics:
-As I See It
– (the) Environment
-The Human Condition
-People and Places
-Ponderance and Muse
-Odds and Ends, Knick-Knacks, and Bric-a-brac
-Table Scraps
-The Surprise Page
-(&) Short Stories
…. full of though, sketches, insights, reflections, observations, humour, sarcasm, relationships, and more- all of which made for an entertaining read-.

Thank you, Leon Stevens!
