Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, book 4) by Amy McKinley – Review by Lianne Probert

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, #4)Savage Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book four in this amazing series. You could read this as a stand-alone story, but there are quite a few returning characters and familiar faces that make this story even more enjoyable.

Elena is in hiding. Most of her family and friends think she’s dead, it’s safer for them that way. But when the past catches up with her she’s forced to face it and she finds help in an unexpected place.
Safe to say, I love this story. I’ve read several books by this author and she never fails to have me hooked.
The characters are very relatable, and they have amazing chemistry. It’s not smooth sailing for Elena and Marco, but their relationship grows and strengthens throughout. I also really enjoy the mafia ‘family’ dynamics and getting updates and characters I’ve read about previously.
Another must-read!

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters) by Marianne Rice – Review by Lianne Probert

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters)A Hundred Wishes by Marianne Rice
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was one of those books where you really fall for the characters.
When you meet Gina and hear her story you become so invested and are rooting for her to find happiness. After being severely injured whilst on duty, she’s managed to piece her life back together, but she’s still living in the shadow of the woman she was before. When she meets Bryce, things change. He cracks her well-built defences and forces her to live in the present.
I loved Gina’s strength and Bryce’s perseverance and general loveliness. Things do not always run smoothly, but you will be rooting for this couple right up to the end.

I would recommend this book to any romance fans out there.

Theodore’s Ring by Stacy-Deanne – Review by Lianne Probert

Theodore's Ring: BWWM Action Adventure RomanceTheodore’s Ring: BWWM Action Adventure Romance by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fast-paced read, literally non-stop the whole way through.
Poor Lydia. She is tested right from the start. When her boyfriend is kidnapped by the enemy, she will stop at nothing to get him back. The mission? Deliver the ring in exchange for her boyfriend’s life.
Lydia dives in headfirst, stopping at nothing to save Cam. But she soon realises this is not a mission for one person.
I enjoyed this story. The action-packed drama and writing style means I flew through it. There were plenty of surprises (for both the reader and the characters) along the way. To be honest, I didn’t love all of the characters, and the story lost me occasionally along the way. But if you are looking for a romance book with a lot of action and drama, this is a bit different from your standard read.

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Lianne Probert

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan #2)Imperfectly Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series, and it is a great follow-up to book one.

Anton and Elsa are steadily moving forward with their relationship. They are more in love than ever and both have successful careers. Sadly though, as things progress all does not run smoothly, and many challenges test the couple.
I really enjoyed this story, although it was an emotional rollercoaster for me as well as the characters in the book! The author manages to capture the couple’s love and strength perfectly, despite everything that happens. You can feel the chemistry between them bouncing off the pages, even when the cracks in their relationship begin to surface and the dream life they have built up together looks to be threatened.
The author writes in a way that makes you want to keep reading, once I started I found it hard to put it down.

Face the Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 5) by Michele Sims – Review by Lianne Probert

Face the FireFace the Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book took me by surprise. In my experience, paranormal romance normally struggles to keep the element of realism and relatability, but the author was able to find the balance between the two and keep true to the story. I love the chemistry between Miles and Bella, their relationship has its bumps along the way that keep them, and us, guessing. We also meet some new faces, one of which causes big trouble both professionally and personally for them.
The author’s writing style compliments the story, it’s fast-paced and edgy, it keeps you wanting more. Sometimes I felt as though the story moved a little quicker than I did and it was difficult to keep up. This didn’t detract from my enjoyment though, and I would definitely recommend this, especially if you have read the previous books in the series.

Swipe Right to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 6) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Lianne Probert

Swipe Right to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #6)Swipe Right to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has to be one of my favourite series. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but this series is one that’s worth going back to read.

Gabe and Katrina are possibly my favourite couple so far! They say opposites attract, and these guys couldn’t be more different. Katrina runs a dating app and has a casual outlook on all things love. Gabe believes love is so much more and stuff teaches people about intimacy.
As always with this author, the book had me laughing out loud. The chemistry between Gabe and Katrina runs throughout the whole story, and the friction between them makes for a fun and feisty read. This is a paranormal story like you’ve never read before.

Practically Pagan - An Alternative Guide to Magical LivingPractically Pagan – An Alternative Guide to Magical Living by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The author begins this book by saying that all books are magical, I most definitely agree, and as you can guess this one is absolutely brimming with magic.

I picked up this book looking for something different to slightly challenge the normal, and this book certainly achieved that. It can be slightly repetitive at times, although I do think the messages are important ones.
I would say that this book might not be for everyone, you need to have an open mind and a curiosity for finding the magic within your own life. If that’s the case, you will really enjoy this book. This is my first time reading anything of this style or genre, but I will certainly be open to reading and learning more.

I really enjoyed this story. It was feel-good and easy-to-read which was just what I was looking for.
Sparks fly between Thea and Benjamin as soon as they meet. They have wonderful chemistry that flies off the pages at you. I love Christmas books and the Christmassy feeling runs throughout, it left me feeling ready for the festive season.
This was a really quick read, but the author packed so much into it I didn’t feel as though I was missing out.
If you are looking for something light and fun then I would recommend this book

Surprise Baby for Mr. Fischer (Curvy Ever After Book 2) by Stephanie Harrell – Review by Lianne Probert

Surprise Baby for Mr. Fischer (Curvy Ever After, #2)Surprise Baby for Mr. Fischer by Stephanie Harrell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surprise Baby For Mr. Fischer is the second book in the Curvy Ever After series by Stephanie Harrell.

This was such an enjoyable read. Harper knows what she wants. She wants to travel the world searching for antiques and collectibles for her family business, but her family thinks she needs to settle down. When she meets Lincoln on a night out she has no idea that he is set to be the next big star, she just knows that a weekend spent with him will be hard to top. She never expected to find herself pregnant.
I thought that Harper and Lincoln were such lovable characters. Lincoln helps Harper see past her insecurities. They both have some big, life-changing decisions to make now that they are having a baby. They help each other through this and have many obstacles to overcome on the way. There was so much chemistry between Lincoln and Harper right from the start, they were a great couple to read about.
This was my first time reading anything by this author, but I will be going back to read the first book in the series now.

The Mating Call (Long Claw Pride Book 1)The Mating Call by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Mating Call is the first book in the Long Claw Pride series by Brooke May.

Lane and Cheyenne are Lion shifters and destined to be mates. As soon as the couple meets there is no ignoring the chemistry between them. This was my first lion shifter book, I’m more used to hearing about werewolves, there are lots of similarities though and I really enjoyed it. The love story between Lane and Cheyenne is not a smooth one, they both have pasts to contend with but this just adds to the story and makes you root for them even more. The fact that they both have obstacles to overcome makes the couple much more relatable. This was an easy-to-read story, the pages turned so fast I couldn’t read it fast enough.
I’m looking forward to book two.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Lianne Probert

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blood Oath: A Friends To Lovers Mafia Romance is book two in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.

This story kicks off with a bang and never really slows down. There is so much action packed into one book I found it a little hard to keep up at times, I still really enjoyed it though. I had already read the first book in the series, which I’d say isn’t essential but will definitely help you understand a little more when it comes to links between characters.
I loved the main characters. Sofia and Enzo are both strong personalities and there is chemistry between them from the get-go. The author includes flashbacks which not only helped me understand the story better but also the characters. Sofia is such a strong, resilient female lead. Being brought up surrounded by such violence has made her sharp, strong, and fiercely loyal. Enzo needed to match up to this, and he did. I always have a soft spot for a protective bodyguard, and Enzo was no exception.
This was a great second installment to this series.

Snowflakes & Stockings (A Wilton Hills Christmas Book 4) by Marianne Rice – Review by Lianne Probert

Snowflakes & Stockings (A Wilton Hills Christmas, #4)Snowflakes & Stockings by Marianne Rice
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Snowflakes And Stockings is book four in A Wilton Hills Christmas series by Marianne Rice. This is my first time reading anything from this author and the series, this book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

I’m a huge fan of a festive-themed book and couldn’t wait to get started this year. Stockings And Snowflakes was a great book to kick things off with.
Liberty is up for a promotion, and it’s pretty much a guarantee if she can solve the most recent mystery…who is the famous secret Santa?
I loved the warmth of the story and the Christmassy feel that this book had, it was such an easy and cosy read. The characters are likable and relatable, and I really enjoyed the building up of the relationship between Liberty and Sawyer. Their chemistry made this story even better.
This book was a lovely accompaniment to a gloomy (sadly, not snowy) Sunday afternoon.

Tenacious (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 6) by Via Mari – Review by Lianne Probert

Tenacious (Billionaire Bodyguards # 6)Tenacious by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tenacious: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance is book number six in the Billionaire Bodyguards series by Via Mari. Having not read the rest of the series, I can confirm that this can be read as a stand-alone story, although I’m tempted to go back now and start at the beginning.

This story is about Allie and Nick. I loved both of these characters right from the start. Their chemistry bounces off the page at you, but of course, the path of true love never runs smooth. Both are strong characters and I love how Allie can hold her own against Nick’s dominance.
This story is action-packed from the beginning and never really slows. The fast pace means I read this book super quick…I needed to know what happened next.
If you’re a fan of stories with plenty of chemistry and danger, I would definitely recommend this.

Love’s Refrain (The Stardust Duet, Book 1) by KG Fletcher – Review by Lianne Probert

Love's Refrain (The Stardust Duet, #1)Love’s Refrain by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love’s Refrain: A Time Travel Romance is the first book in The Stardust Duet series by K.G. Fletcher.

I am already a fan of this author and was not disappointed with this book.
This truly is a love story. When reading the description I was a little apprehensive with regards to the time travel aspect, but I ended up loving this part. It added so much depth to both the story and the characters. I enjoyed both the past and present-day parts of the story, but I found myself especially looking forward to the parts where we were transported back to 1947.

This story was magical and I was hooked from the start. It’s the type of story that you find yourself thinking about even when you’re not reading it. The descriptive writing style is fantastic, I love it when the author takes time to set the scene so I can immerse myself properly in the story, and that is definitely the case here.

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You Book 1) by Brittany Anne – Review by Lianne Probert

Born to Fight (Can't Resist You, #1)Born to Fight by Brittany Anne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Born To Fight is the first book in the Can’t Resist You series by Brittany Anne.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world, nothing is as we know it now, and the presence of good and evil is very real.
Rain has lived alone for two years. When she comes across an injured man she knows she cannot leave him to die, but worries about her vulnerable position. Taking Hunter in turns out to be a life-changing decision, as she nurses him back to health they get to know each other, although both know that the other person has more secrets to tell.

I really enjoyed this story, Rain and Hunter are a sweet couple with lots of chemistry. There are also lots of other strong supporting characters which help to bring the story to life. I enjoyed that the story was told from different points of view so that, as the reader, I got the full story and range of emotions. I’m looking forward to seeing how the series develops.

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven Book 5) by AJ Renee – Review by Lianne Probert

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cursed Luck is the fifth book in the Broderick Coven series by A.J. Renee. If you have yet to read the other books in the series I would recommend starting with book one, you meet a lot of the same characters and already have a feel for the storylines which I feel makes this even more enjoyable.

I think this is my favourite book in the series so far. I love Edward and Mia. They are such opposites, I really enjoyed how the author brought them together but kept their quirks and identities to remain true to themselves. They say true love is never straightforward, and that’s definitely the case here. As with all the characters in the series so far, I find them easy to relate to…even with their paranormal ways. This book is really easy to read, the pages turned so fast!

Forever: A Diamond Doms Novel by Ivy Nelson – Review by Lianne Probert

Forever (Diamond Doms #9)Forever by Ivy Nelson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forever is the final book in the Diamond Doms series by Ivy Nelson.

Ivy does a fantastic job at tying up all of the loose ends in this final story (no one wants to end a series with their questions unanswered). Russel and Gemma were a brilliant couple to end things on. I really enjoyed the tenderness and loving relationship between them, as well as the BDSM elements. I felt a little disappointed with Gemma at times, she fell into the background several times when she should have been upfront as the leading lady. Russel, however, did not disappoint. The man is seriously HOT!
This book is steamy and sex is a major part of the storyline, so this series might not be for everyone. The books in this series are best read in order to enjoy them fully.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Strings Attached: A Steamy Stand-Alone Romance by Lara Ward Cosio is a fun and feisty read.

Anyone who has been caught checking someone out will totally relate to the meeting between Tanner and Kayla. Sparks fly between them, but despite the growing chemistry both have commitments that mean a relationship is off the cards. But a casual fling would work well for both.

I loved watching the relationship between Tanner and Kayla grow. They are such a sweet couple, and I really enjoyed the slow-burn element and watching their relationship develop. There are lots of fantastic characters, Kayla’s daughter Emmy is adorable, and all of the reasons that the couple use for not wanting a relationship actually make them so much stronger.
It’s a fun, easy-to-read story.

Scarlet Princess is the first book in the Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison.

I loved this book. It was an unexpected breath of fresh air. It is action-packed right from the start, there’s no easing into the story, it really kicks off with a bang.
I really enjoyed the characters, particularly Rowan. She is really relatable which I loved, fiery, full of personality, and always finding herself unintentionally in trouble. When she finds herself at the mercy of her enemy the last thing she expects is to fall for him.
This love story had me hooked from the get-go. The pages turned so fast, I was frustrated at myself for finishing so quickly, but once you get stuck in there’s no stopping. I can’t wait to read book two.

Family Secrets (A Whispering Pines Mystery) by Shawn McGuire – Review by Lianne Probert

Family Secrets (Whispering Pines Mystery #1)Family Secrets by Shawn McGuire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Family Secrets is the first book in the Whispering Pine Mystery series by Shawn McGuire. This is my first time reading anything by this author, but she has won me over already.

Whispering Pines sounds like something out of a fairytale. Jayne arrives back there after 16 years away. She has returned to sort out her grandparents’ property but gets so much more than she bargained for when she discovers a dead body in the garden. She shouldn’t get involved, but once a cop always a cop!
I am already a huge fan of the cosy mystery genre, and the book didn’t disappoint. It has enough mystery and suspense to keep you turning the pages, but it’s also a really easy read. There are quite a few loose ends and unanswered questions, but I’m guessing we’ll get more answers in book 2!

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance is the first book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.

Oh my goodness, I loved this book. This is not my first book by Amy McKinley, so I already had high expectations when I started reading, and this book did not disappoint.
Liliana is nothing more than a pawn in her father’s wicked games. He sees her as a bargaining chip, and she is trapped in this dangerous and suffocating world until he sets her free. I love the strength and fierceness of Liliana, she is feisty and smart in the face of uncertainty and betrayal.
Max is assigned to be Liliana’s bodyguard, but this is no accident as he has a dark history and past that he is determined to save Liliana from. I love the style of writing in this book, it feels as though the author has really found her words with this genre, I couldn’t stop reading.
I can’t wait for book two!

Book two sees us back with Lycan Levi and Vampire Tasha. After starting a war with their love in book one, this story has a whole new set of complications, challenges, and battles. There is so much history and bad feelings between the Lycans and the Vampires that sparks fly constantly.
The love story between Levi and Tasha has me hooked. I love both of these characters and literally couldn’t put this book down….I NEED to know what happens next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Written In The Stars is the second book in the Mother’s And Daughters collection by Angela Christina Archer. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first book of the series, this can be read as a stand-alone story.

This story will take you on an absolute rollercoaster of emotions! This is a heartfelt story of adoption and the emotions that run from all different sides.
The story starts in the 1950s and shows what life was like for some then, and how little control some young women had regarding their decisions and lives. I literally cried my eyes out for Betty. The author tells this story brilliantly, her writing style is fantastic and as the reader, you feel every single emotion. This is my first time reading anything by this author, but I can’t wait to go and read more now.

Journeys Through TimeSpaceJourneys Through TimeSpace by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through TimeSpace is the second book in the Journeys Through series by James Talisman.

After reading the first book, I couldn’t wait to get stuck into book two. This genre really pulls me out of my reading comfort zone, but it was well worth investing time into this series.
This book is filled with action, adventure, and wonderful characters. After being introduced to the concept of the ‘MultiVerse’ in book one, we are still battling to save planet Earth. It’s a battle like no other set in different times and worlds. The descriptive writing style really brings this story to life, I got lost in the worlds and characters and flew through this book.
If you are looking for something different in the scifi/fantasy genre, I would definitely recommend this series.

The Girl and the Gargoyle (The Girl and the Raven, #2)The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Girl and the Gargoyle is the second book in The Girl and the Raven series by Pauline Gruber. If you have yet to read book one, I would definitely recommend starting there.

In some ways, this is a typical YA coming-of-age type of story. There is school, friends, love triangles, and other teenage problems to navigate. But then, throw in being half witch/half human, demons, and extracurricular combat lessons to help you stay alive…..that’s Lucy’s crazy world!
I thought this was a great second instalment, as with all good books in a series, it raises more questions than it answers and leaves you wanting more. The pages turned so fast throughout this story, it’s action-packed and you need to know what happens next!

BOY RELEASED (BOY SERIES BOOK 2) by JD Spero – Review by Lianne Probert

Boy ReleasedBoy Released by J.D. Spero
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Boy Released is the follow-up story to Boy On Hold by J.D. Spero. While I would say this book could be read as a standalone, I enjoyed it so much more having read the first book. There is so much history you need to know, so I would recommend starting there.

Boy Released reunites us with the characters from book one and takes place ten years later. Tyler is now back with his family, and after his mother is attacked is now the main suspect due to his troubled history.
This story is an emotional rollercoaster. It combines mystery, compassion, and heartbreak and keeps the reader on their toes and turning pages. The characters are wonderful, and you get to hear from several different points of view throughout the story. The author writes in a way that makes you completely understand what each character is going through, even when they have different thoughts and opinions, you can relate to them all. I loved this story and thought it was an excellent follow-up.

Cursed Touch (Broderick Coven Series Book 4) by AJ Renee – Review by Lianne Probert

Cursed Touch (Broderick Coven, #4)Cursed Touch by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Touch is the fourth book in the Broderick Coven series by AJ Renee. If you are new to this series I would say you could easily read this as a standalone story, but you will meet characters from previous books along the way, so starting from book one makes this even more enjoyable.

In Cursed Touch, we meet Carter and Vanessa. Carter is a Doctor, he is part of the Broderick Coven as he has healing powers. Carter meets Vanessa in the ER when she accompanies her neighbour with a ‘dog bite’. Vanessa is open-minded and curious about the supernatural world. She is sure there is more to this situation than meets the eye and she wants to learn more. When Vanessa meets Carter, the attraction is instant and he soon becomes her protector as she digs deeper into the supernatural world.

I really enjoyed this fourth addition to the series. As with the previous books, the story is full of humour, romance, and plenty of action. The characters are realistic and likeable, they keep you hooked and needing to know what happens. I finished this book wanting more and looking forward to the next book in the series.

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime is the first book in the Journeys Through series by James Talisman.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book. The book is set in a ‘multiverse’ that consists of different worlds and spans across different times. What unites the chosen characters is the voice. Sounds confusing, but it soon makes sense. I love the concept of this story and for me, it more than lives up to my expectations.
The characters, like the book itself, are full of layers and personality. It is the kind of book where you need to pay attention. There are a lot of characters and events to keep track of, but it is definitely worth the investment of your time.

It is hard to believe that this is the author’s debut novel, his writing is engaging and experienced. It is obviously an idea that was a long time coming, it is so well developed. I can’t wait to read the next installment!

Houses of Deception (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 6)Houses of Deception by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Houses Of Deception is book number six in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This could be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend that this series is read in order. There is so much backstory and history that it is much more enjoyable being read as part of a series.

Madeline and Mike and back solving mysteries, this time they have some missing people to track down and, as you can imagine, it’s never quite as simple as it sounds. I feel as though I know these characters so well now, I really enjoy catching up with them.
I love how much thought the author puts into these cases, I’m never quite sure how they will turn out, she really gets you thinking and keeps you on your toes.
If you’re new to the Madeline Dawkins series, it’s a series of books that is well worth investing time into.
