“Sometimes I wonder how I lived most of my life without really knowing that the paranormal world exists right along side the human one. Even though things appear normal for this tiny town, I can’t help but wonder how many paranormal things have gone on here, unnoticed. How many times have I come close to the world of magic and monsters and not known it?” (Oren)
Hell In A Handbasket is the third exciting instalment in the Life is Hell series by Naomi Valkyrie. I adore this series so much!!! From the moment I read the blurb on the first book, I was hooked- and I can honestly say that this series only gets better with each new instalment.
This is a captivating fantasy with demons, banter, drama, mystery, sizzling chemistry, danger, discovery, more than a few surprises, and twists- as well as a heartwarming m/m romance.
A seemingly picture perfect little town. Such a beautiful setting that hides a whole lot of paranormal beings and a lot of supernatural activity which goes on there- and the ordinary folk aren’t even aware of what’s happening right under their noses. But as we have come to learn in the previous books, there is so much more to Juniper Lake than first meets the eye.
This is Oren and Teivel’s story, whom we met in the previous books as secondary characters. Oren has intrigued me right from the beginning, with the discovery of his Hunter heritage. But not having any training or any other Hunters he can call on for guidance or advice, leaves Oren feeling a little vulnerable. He really is still coming to terms with being a Hunter and what that means for him going forward. Trying to figure it out on his own is draining. Add a sexy demon to the mix and things really heat up. But he’s a Hunter and Teivel’s a demon- and a bit of a prickly one at that, so they shouldn’t work- but their chemistry says otherwise. Then bring a little surprise package into the mix- and this story really takes off!!! I really couldn’t read this story quick enough, flipping the pages to discover what happens next- and all the while dreading racing through the story, as I really didn’t want it to end.
As I have mentioned a few times now, but it is worth repeating- Naomi Valkyrie is a talented storyteller- weaving such wonderfully original and completely captivating fantasies. Her work is always very creative, rich and dynamic- with plenty of texture and imaginative touches which enable her story and characters to come to life- pulling me into their world and whisking me along for the ride.
I really can’t wait to read book #4 and see where we go from here!
Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!
