The Singer and Her Song (Empire at Twilight Book 2) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

The Singer and Her Song (Empire at Twilight #2)The Singer and Her Song by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 2 of the Empire of the Twilight Series was enjoyable. This book can easily be read as a stand alone. I find the attention to detail, especially the historical nature, that Author N.L. Holmes puts into this book is fantastic. Uqnitum flees from Mittani when she loses family. Parts of the story I really felt to for Uqnitum, the guilt and darkness. Definitely read the book to find out if Uqnitum overcomes the danger she has become and find strength to overcome. Overall a very good story with great attention to details. Well Done Author N.L. Wow, this book was phenomenal! I really enjoyed this young adult/fantasy book. Alena was a young girl when she lost per family and her home. A few years later, she becomes a member of “The Guild” and now goes by the name of “Slayer” (which I love!!). Slayer is fearless and strong, and I love her character. As she now ventures off to find a missing Increment and works for The Sacred, this is when Slayer will discover what evil is where the adventure begins.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this fall seasonal book in a small town feel. Bella, a teacher, is trying to save the arts program at the school. Cade, a indie rock star, ends up having to do community services and meets Bella. I love Bella and Cade’s chemistry and the story behind each character. I have to say, Bella’s mom made me laugh on a few occasions, being Italian and “saucy”. Both Bella and Cade have some walls to protect themselves from being hurt, will their spark blossom to romance? Read this book and find out, I highly recommend this contemporary romance!

A Cold Day In Hell (Life Is Hell Book 5) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

A Cold Day in Hell (Life is Hell #5)A Cold Day in Hell by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just cannot get enough of this series, and Author Naomi Valkyrie is truly amazing to bring these characters to life. I am so invested in all of the characters and truly loved the very deep friendship of Haddie and Jezebel. Haddie is a fallen angel, while Jezebel is a shifter. At first, I was not sure about Haddie..her character was a bit…stern…but understanding and finding out why…I can truly understand. With Jezebel, you do not get to meet much of her in the other books, but this book really shines on her character…..and she is trying to run from her past…and Haddie goes along for the ride. Will Haddie save Jezebel? You definitely recommend reading the series in order and I can say again, this book is fabulous!!!!

Can I just say, again, wow what a read!?!? First off I really just commend the author for adding a Character List at the beginning of the book as this was very helpful. There are many characters with different POVs and so much detail, this really made me think I wanted to be part of this story in the book. I love the action, adventure, mixed with betrayal all wrapped into this book. The author did such a fantastic job on details and having different worlds revolving around all the characters. I love the fantasy/sci fi in this and truly looking forward to diving into book 2.

Remember His Name (Remember My Name Series Book 2) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

Remember His Name (Remember My Name, #2)Remember His Name by Laurencia Hoffman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow and I thought book 1 was heart breaking, this one really did it for me. Please be advised of the triggers of abuse when reading this book. I can say this book parts of this were harder to read due to the triggers for sure for me, but yet I wanted to know about Wren. His story is truly heartbreaking, especially when growing up all he wanted was unconditional love from his parents but his father, I am just shaking my head. There are no words I can describe Wren’s father, just not good. When Wren meets his love, Henry, thinking this could be Wren’s happiness. But as fate would have it this book, twists and turns come into play. Will Wren find out the truth? I recommend reading the first book as some things tie in… but I do not want to give it away. Overall 4 Stars.

Remember My Name (Remember My Name Series Book 1) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

Remember My Name (Remember My Name #1)Remember My Name by Laurencia Hoffman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is dark, heart wrenching and I am torn in thought. After finishing this book, it has taken me a day to write this review because of thinking of everything that happened in this story. Shane Coulter’s character has totally torn my heartstrings many times in this book. He is angry, distant and at times a complete jerk, keeping family and friends at arms length not to get close. Yet I feel for him completely, the abuse he suffered and the loss of a close friend that he never got over. The story unfolds as we meet Callan, whom was the love of his life, pop back in and wants another chance with Shane. There is a lot of love/hate feelings from Shane when it comes to giving Callan another chance. This story unfolds, but there is so much more… Family secrets, lost friendships, Dark twists and turns along the way, but I do not want to give the book, you need to read it to find out. The ending though made me feel like I missed a piece of some puzzle that I am trying to wrap my head around. Please be advised there are triggers of abuse. Overall 4 Stars.

I love a good RomCom and this book was a fun read. I love how Sheldon and Simone meet and their attraction but yet they try and keep it cool. Simone is fierce, no nonsense while Sheldon, whom is a veterinarian, is about one night stands and creating miniatures (you definitely have to read the book to understand). I enjoyed the back story as far as being Sheldon and Simone being involved in Freedom Roar rescue, which is big cat rescue. Will Simone and Sheldon find love while working at the rescue? This is definitely a great RomCom with definitely some laugh out loud moments and lots of smiles.

I loved this story of Cadence and Fitz…. At first Cadence gives Fitz a run for his money when it comes to jobs at Camp Riley during one summer. Little did she know it did not take much for her to fall for him. Fitz, a son of a wealthy politician, really stole my heart strings. When Cadence really gets to know Fitz and about his back story growing up, you cannot help but love his character. Fitz knows after his summer is over spent at the camp, he has to go back to his father to Washington DC… will their summer romance survive….. listen and find out… cannot wait until I listen to book 2. Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mr. Nice Guy is a cute, sweet story by Belinda Williams. This story is about Chelsea and Tom. Chelsea’s dating life is just full of going for the “bad boys”. Tom decides to ask Chelsea to give him 7 days and 7 nights to show her what it is like to date a “Nice Guy”. I really loved Tom’s character, he was charming and sweet and thought highly of Chelsea. For Chelsea, she was always putting herself down and sometimes did not feel her worth when it came to relationship nor her work. As Chelsea and Tom have their 7 days and 7 nights, will this turn into more then just friendship? You will have to read the book and find out :). Overall this is an easy, fun book.

Will the dark fae win or will Lucas save his girl in time…..if you like stories with magic, action, fantasy along with MC Fae (which is new and very intriguing) this book is for you. Flash Point: Nite Fire Volume 1 AUDIO BOOK by C. L. Schneider – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

This is a very good audio. If you like dangers, dragons, mystery with a strong female character this is for you! I loved Dahlia’s snappy no nonsense attitude. She is quite bad azz! When Dahlia escapes her own execution and flees her home, she lives then among the human population. There are murders in Sentinal City and she tries to help solve them while not revealing whom she is. Love the mystery and twists in this story. The narrator is fantastic in this audio!

This book of Poems, Prose, and Pictures was very enjoyable to read. Different sections are introduced which was perfect. “As I See It”, I enjoyed “Smiles” and “Trust on Sports” and I loved the “Environment” section as well. In between there are some just simple but perfect sketchings within some of the sections of the book. At the end are some short stories. This book is short but really made me think on some topics. Very well done!

The Heart of Baker BayThe Heart of Baker Bay by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from Author Danielle Jacks!! Nothing like a story being totally engrossed in and never wanting it to end. The story of Jody, whom cannot keep a job nor has very good experiences when it comes to keeping a job. When she goes to Clover Bay to help at her Gran’s cafe after her Gran’s accident, Jody learns so much more. Baking, helping to run a business and new friendships come along. We meet Adam, he is rough around the edges. I totally loved Adam’s character. First impressions when Adam meets Jody, he though she was “high maintenance”. You find out Adam falls for Jody and wants her to believe in herself when no one else can. Jody sees herself as a “mess up”. New friendships, love and loss …. I just loved loved loved this book. So happy for a great epilogue as well.

Lost Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

I am totally all in with this book! The narrator was truly fantastic in this audio as well. This book is full of twists and turns with suspense, fighting MMA, mafia and mobsters. I loved the spark between Aleksei and Deva. Having a strong female character with Deva, I enjoyed her spirit no non-sense style. Deva comes back from being away as a favor and has to get close to Aleksei whom has some dark ties. This book is just so fantastic, cannot wait to continue this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book truly is a journey. I loved how that Author has this story with different character’s POV via letters that are found by Amari when his grandmother passes away. You go through a history of slavery, Red Summer of 1919, Martin Luther King Jr march and his assassination, Rodney King and 44th President of the United State, Barack Obama. Each generation has a story to tell in these letters of these different historical events. I really embraced every word of this book and it is truly a great read. My Favorite line in the book that I loved was “We all have a little Dr. King in us, even you.” Well Done Author Yvonne Johnson!!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ah yes, Grumbler, so set in his ways. I loved his character in this book, even if he is a little rough around the edges. We meet Grumbler when he meets a photographer whom wants to take pictures of his bike, and a monetary deal is made. Needless to say, that photographer is not what he seems to be, conning Grumbler of what is due. Mary and Alicia come into the picture and my heart! Mary lost her husband and trying to raise a 17 year old daughter on her own. Alicia is in a situation and Mary tries to be there for her daughter, something is not right and Mary senses it. Grumbler is there for both Mary and Alicia. Some twists and turns in this book (don’t want to give away to much), but at the end there is love between Grumbler and Mary. I love them together.

Turner finally makes a move and lets Poppy know how he feels. Sparks fly. When a fire starts at a BBQ, Poppy clams up….and retreats back to her safety net, her home. You definitely should read the book and find out if Turner brings Poppy out of her shell and continue their spark. This book is short, sweet and to the point! Totally love it!

I love a great fantasy YA book and this book definitely did NOT disappoint! Makayla wanted to go to a paranormal academy, but unfortunately was not accepted in her first few choices and ended up going to the Grave Digger Academy. You find out that you just do not dig the graves but you need to keep the dead buried. The dead can be “uncooperative” when it comes to staying 6 feet under. I really enjoyed the fantasy mixed with magic and witches in this book. There are some twists, turns and secrets so the book continues to intrigue and is truly hard to put down. I am so looking forward to reading more of this series.

She summons help to get away and is missing 45 years. When she reappears, she comes across a house where she meets Nick Felson. Even though at first he was tough, unsure and wants nothing to do with is magic, he falls for Cassie. I love how they were meant to be together. There were a few twists, turns, secrets along the way that unfolds and brought together a very good book. Looking forward to continuing the series!
