In this book we are introduced to two newcomers not only to the series but to the mafia. Amy blew my mind not only is she setting it up for hopefully some spin offs but she is expanding the universe while keep the same characters we fell in love with still a major part. This book is everything and is the perfect book to help those who found family later in life. The way this series is progressing has me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for the next book.

This book focuses on Stephano and Em the third couple on this crazy drive. I absolutely love how this book focuses on toxic families and how you can choose your family. As these books progress more of the storyline makes sense and you get glimpses of the entire picture so I highly recommend reading in order. I absolutely love this series and it should be on everyone’s TBR. Amy is an amazing author and I can wait to see what happens next.

This story focuses on Sofia and Enzo, however, our favorite characters from book one are all present. I absolutely loved how strong of a character Sofia while still keeping her femininity. They face many trials in this book and even with a HEA there is still many problems ahead of these characters leaving you with a cliffhanger that you can’t be mad at. The more Amy writes the better her books are and I can’t wait to see where this series goes.

He’s only ever loved her but he can have her because being with her outa a target on her back. And she had only ever loved him but understands his dilemma. He’s just waiting for his turn to take over the throne and trying to figure out who the rat is! Another wonder read from Amy! Can’t wait to continue their stories.

Enzo and Sofia’s story is so great. Their story together goes back to their childhood where Enzo took a blood oath to protect Sofia. They path to each other is not easy, Enzo just wants to protect her but she also has her own secrets putting her in danger. I was just pulled into the story. Blood Oath brought out a few new mysteries and story lines as well. Elena comes into the picture (since I didn’t read these in order I already know what happens, definitely keep reading the books!) It was nice to have her introduced. And who is the Rat? I have my suspicions :).

I did not start with this book for this series. It was a accident but I knew after reading Savage Secrets I had to come back and read the other ones! I am a complete sucker for a mafia romance and this one did not disappoint. Mac and Lil have such a great story. With out even knowing each other they knew the other was going to be hard to stay away from. Amy does an amazing job at balancing the romance, suspense, and action throughout her books! Can’t wait to move on to the next one!

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, book 4) by Amy McKinley – Review by Wendy Wary

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, #4)Savage Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elena, with the help of some friends, faked her death to escape a psychopath in the Russian Mafia who was hellbent on ending her life. Having found some peace and a mostly humdrum existence in New Jersey for the past several years, her instincts kick in when Marco, her longtime crush turned somewhat enemy, shows up to take her back to Chicago. She’s not sure if she can trust him, but with the Russians on to her whereabouts, she doesn’t have much of a choice.

Marco, despite his own longtime crush on Elena, acted out against her during their teen years because she was already promised to another through an arranged marriage. With that contract null and void, and years having passed since she disappeared from his life, he’s more than willing to take on her safety as his own personal responsibility. The trouble will be convincing her that she can actually trust him and trying to win her over to make up for the attitude he gave her during their youth. In the meantime, Elena struggles to leave behind her fight or flight instincts and fall into the trust of her adopted mafia family to accept that she has just as much a right to be there as anyone else in the family.

If you’ve read previous books in the series, this book fills in more details about the story behind Elena’s disappearance, secrets from her past, her place in the Five Families, and her future. Don’t worry, though, if you haven’t previously read any of the other books in the series; you can literally start with any one of them and enjoy it as a standalone. But, be prepared to be sucked into the mafia world and wrapped up in the many characters that make up the series. One thing I love about the series is how you get introduced to most of the characters from the beginning, but then get to watch different stories from each of their lives unfold as you get further into the series. I’m totally hooked, and this addition is no exception.

Mafia Elite Series Box Set: Volume One Kindle EditionMafia Elite Series Box Set: Volume One Kindle Edition by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

This fantastic boxset contains the first three books in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. Ms. McKinley is one of my favourite authors, and this series is a testament to her talents. This boxset is a wonderful introduction to the Mafia Elite series- with three books in one, hello- #winning.
But trust me when I say that you are bound to develop an addiction to her books and go searching for more. So, you will be happy to know that there are not only more books in this series, but also an extensive back-catalogue of the authors other books too- which are also excellent reading in their own rights.
This Boxset contains No Way Out (Book #1), Blood Oath (Book #2), and Born In Darkness (Book #3). Below are my individual reviews for these books to give you a little taste of what to expect…..

NO WAY OUT (Mafia Elite Book #1):
5 Stars
ALL THE FREAKING STARS!!!! OMG!!! Amy McKinley has outdone herself, AGAIN!!!!
No Way Out is the incredible first instalment in the Mafia Elite series by the supremely talented Amy McKinley. I know I keep saying this with every new release of hers, but this is definitely a new favourite for me.
It is a fantastic mafia romance/romantic suspense, with plenty of action, violence, danger, drama, mafia politics, intrigue, tension, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, revenge, and emotion.
I fell for Max and Liliana right from the beginning- they were such great characters- quite complex, fully developed individuals with depth and their own unique quirks and flaws.
I really don’t want to give too much away and spoil the story for you… But will leave you with this little tidbit. Max has an agenda that has taken a lot of time and planning to finetune before he can now, finally, let it all unfold. He has been tasked with protecting his mentor’s granddaughter, on top of his own plans to exact a little revenge and right past wrongs. He never expected that he would be so drawn to the young woman he was sent to protect. Having more in common with her than he first thought. But she is no defenceless flower, as he soon discovers- she’s one kick-butt mafia princess. But with secrets, agendas, politics, and sinister intentions- it’s not long before they are neck deep in a dangerous situation. It definitely made for an intense, suspenseful, edge of my seat read!!! Another gem to add to Ms. McKinley’s crown!

BLOOD OATH (Mafia Elite Book #2):
5 Stars

Second book into this amazing series and Ms. McKinley has hit it out of the park again!!! Blood Oath is the second fantastic book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. As with the first book, this is a brilliant mafia romance- a romantic suspense story with an action-packed plot, secrets, dramatic developments, mafia politics, intrigue, tension, chemistry, steamy encounters, emotion, and more…
This book continues what we started in book one, but this is Sofia and Enzo’s story (whom we met in book one as supporting characters). I loved all the interconnected details and intriguing threads that Ms. McKinley is weaving through her stories, and series. It makes for riveting reading. I have a new addiction and I can’t wait for my next fix!!!

BORN IN DARKNESS (Mafia Elite Book #3):
5 Stars

So, after finishing this and having read most, if not all of Ms. McKinley’s books now, I have come to the conclusion that she could write the phone book and make it addictive reading! Seriously!!! If you have yet to pick up one of her many books, what are you waiting for? You will kick yourself for missing out this long.
Born in Darkness is another gem in Ms. McKinley’s crown- a stellar mafia romance, it is the third book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. A masterfully woven romantic suspense story with action, violence, mafia politics, second chances, family dynamics, friendship, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, drama, intrigue, tension, and edge of your seat developments.
This book is Stefano and Emiliana’s story, I was so excited to dive in- and now I can honestly say Ms. McKinley doesn’t rest on her laurels here, she ups the ante yet again, grabbing me right from the get-go and had me flipping the pages to find out what happens, all while proving once again that this series just gets better and better with each new release.
If you haven’t read the previous two books, I highly recommend that you do, as not only are they fantastic stories in their own rights, they also contain important information that will help you better appreciate this story, as well as building a bigger picture.
I love this series and the wonderfully complex characters that take centre stage here. I have a serious addiction to Ms. McKinley’s stories and need my next fix STAT!

Take my word for it- if you love mafia romance, romantic suspense, wonderfully developed characters, depth, and addictive reading- then you definitely won’t want to miss this exciting BoxSet, or series!!!
Happy reading!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite, #5)Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 5 of the series. Highly recommend reading the other books first as the overall storyline continues from book to book and some things would be spoiled by reading out of order.

This installation focuses on the relationship between Luc and Summer. Their relationship hits many of the romance tropes: (obviously) mafia romance, workplace romance, mistaken identity, one night stand to lovers, enemies to lovers, and more (which I won’t state because I don’t want to spoil anything). I enjoyed Summer’s strength of character and her ability to stand on her own two feet despite what life throws at her. I also enjoyed Luc’s character arc and seeing him grow from self-made businessman into a mafia heir who has a family and is one of five families who run the Chicago mob scene. I did enjoy the slow build up in their relationship despite their sexual tension, and their desire to wait to be together again until they knew one another more.

I wasn’t as big of a fan of this novel compared to the others in the series but I couldn’t tell you exactly why that was. I think it’s common to have favorite books in a series and ones that just don’t call out to you the same, especially when each book focuses on a different couple. I did enjoy both the romance and non-romance storylines overall, as well as how this novel fit in the continuing storyline of the series.

Sadly, no Katya in this one. I will hold out hope of her being a FMC in the future, though it does seem like the Bratva connection has ended for now as it was only mentioned in passing and this novel focused on some new New York based Mafia families. Can’t wait to see where everything goes in the future books!

Cw: murder, violence against women

Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite, #5)Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great installment in this series! I enjoyed the dynamic of introducing new characters that don’t share the same origins as the ones I have grown to know and love in the other books. I would have liked more tension in the romance. It felt as though the romance when from uncertain to star crossed a little too quickly. Even so, the story was well written, and the mystery was intriguing. Though the backstories of the main characters in this series is different then I have seen in the other books, it is still heart wrenching. It helps make the characters fit seamlessly into the mafia families I have come to know and love. The found family aspects of the book were well down, and I LOVE strong women, which not only this book, but this whole series is full of. If you are knew to this series, I definitely recommend reading in order. Each book centers around different characters, but there are larger plot points and connections that you will miss if you do not start from the first book! Either way, if you are looking for a mafia romance with action, found family, fierce women, and protective men then definitely pick this series up!

I have really grown to be a big fan of this author, or so I thought. It wasn’t until recently that I stumbled across this series. I was happy to learn that even though I picked up several books in, it was easy to follow along the storyline. It read well as a stand-alone. I would be curious to read more from this series and learn more backstory from supporting characters. I felt like the writing is really strong with a fast storyline. Of all things, Summer was my favorite part of this book. She is a strong, likable character. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I look forward to

I love this series. I’m envious of the bond the woman have as friendships. Also the women and men’s relationships their love is a very special bond. I also love the action. Love the storyline for each series. How everything happens for a reason. Summer acts different because she is mourning in her grief. Which causes her to collide with Luc. Only to find out he’s her boss. Through all the grievances they have with one another they cannot deny they already have a bond with each other. Ends happily ever after with them married honeymooning.

This isn’t the first book of the series, but it’s the first one I have read. That being said I didn’t feel like I was starting in the middle of the story. Now that I have read this one and loved the story I will have to go back and read the first four. McKinley did a great job writing this story to where it could stand on its own. I want more of the Luc and Summer’s story so I am hoping that she will write more about them. I really liked how she worked all the characters into the story with a purpose. Evolving the women just as well as the men really added to the story. Can’t wait to read more by Amy McKinley.

A great story of the underdogs finding their way survive and come up on top! I loved that aspect of this book. It was refreshing! What starts off as a whoopsie, ends up being one of the best decisions Summer & Luc make! It starts their angsty and steamy roller coaster of a ride. In the beginning there’s tons of mistrust and secrets, but with time they see the truth and gain trust. Many curveballs and surprising moments. In the end everything happens to a reason and everything plays out as it should. Summer is welcomed with the wives & family and clicks with them instantly like she meant for that life all along!

As always, I read this book in one sitting, this author has a way with storytelling that makes me what to read cover to cover. I love her mafia series and this story is no different. The characters, Summer and Luc can handle anything thrown their way. Which is exactly what brings them together. First by chance and then by another chance. This is a stranger to friends to lovers kind of story. And it is pretty perfect.

“We were at a precipice. The lives we lived were over, and our next adventure had only begun.” ~Summer

This is exactly how life moves. From one adventure to the next. Childhood to adulthood. Marriage to children to empty nest. What will be our next adventure be? What adventure will this author bring to Summer and Luc?

“It was awe, love, and pride, and somehow seeing it on his features and allowing myself to feel it, too, released those emotions from the padlocked box inside of me. It was time to stop hiding from him and from myself.” ~Summer

Looking forward to the next in this series and wondering where the author will take us next!

In this next book of the series Luc is brought into the fold and offered his rightful position as a family boss and Summer, a temporary employee of his new company, is dragged along with him. She is running from danger created by the impulsive actions of another. Ending up with hanging out with a Mafia family while running from another is definitely not what she planned. She soon finds out however, there is so much more in common between her and Luc than she thought possible and that together they both may have just found the one place they truly fit in.
This author always keeps me on the edge of my seat while reading this series. Her talent for creating tough but heartfelt characters is truly amazing. I feel that this 5th book can be read as a stand alone but I HIGHLY recommend reading the other books of the series not only because they are fantastic but also because it will give you more insight into the storyline and other characters.

Ruthless Heir (Mafia Elite Book 5) by Amy McKinley. I absolutely love this series. This is the 5th book and I have loved each and every one! This one is the story of Luc Savino who has taken on a new business. He and Summer meet in an unconventional way but once they meet sparks fly! Summer is starting a new job and recognizes her boss as a one night stand from last summer. She wonders if this will make her life miserable. Luc now thinks she’s a spy for the other Mafia family. Little does he know but she is on the run from that other family. They have already killed her best friend. When Luc is taking a business trip he takes Summer with him thinking she is the reason money is missing from his bank account. Little does he know she is in danger and its the other family messing with his business. Will Luc and Summer make it out of this alive. I really don’t want to give to much away. These characters have a chemistry between them and there is definitely attraction. Get ready to be taken on quite the ride and be prepared to be hanging onto the edge of your seat there’s definitely some twists and turns. Luc and Summer are pure electricity! This was such a great Mafia romance and it was so great finally getting to meet Luc and seeing how he reacts to being the heir to the Brambilla arm of the Five Families. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series you definitely need to because not only are they all amazing but they give great background on the other men and their wives. Summer is so tough but also vulnerable and something about her speaks to Luc from the moment he lays eyes on her. Things quickly spin out of control after a hot night together when Summer won’t reveal who and what she’s running from. Everything starts to fall into place the more time they spend together but there are some really terrifying twists and turns the closer they get. The ending is so beautiful, this is one action packed Mafia romance that you won’t want to miss!

I love reading books by this author and this series is one of my favorites! The connections the mafia bosses have with each other and their wives are important and strong. And the families in Chicago have been through so much together which keep them connected. They work very well as a team.

Book 5 introduces us and delves into the relationship between Luc and Summer. They haven’t known each other long but they have a connection they didn’t expect after a one night stand. Summer has not had a great life but is very resourceful and strong. The new couple mixed in with the mafia families well and we see them support the new couple as if they have been part of the group all along.

Another fantastic installment in the series. I loved the outside looking in feel of this book and the introduction of two new characters. Luc and Summer, a classic enemy turned to love story. These two fit perfectly with the current mafia bosses and wives. Once again, you can feel the love and pain that each of these characters feel. I connected to Luc and Summer more than the previous characters as they were not born into the Mafia. I really enjoyed this book in the series and am intrigued to find out what comes next.

Ruthless Heir is the 5th book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley, I think this was one of my favourites in the series so far. Each book in the series follows a member of one of the main 5 Chicago Mafia families and the nice difference in this book is that Luc doesn’t know he is part of the elite, through the mother he never knew he is the rightful heir to one of the 5 families. A successful businessman in his own right, he is surprised when he is forced to go to Chicago to discover his true heritage, taking his reluctant assistant Summer along with him. Summer is on the run from her past and doesn’t want to get involved with anything to do with the mafia but finds protection in the strangest of situations. I really liked this book, I have been enjoying all the books in the series, there is lots of actions, strong female characters and interesting storylines. Highly recommend, looking forward to book 6!

Ruthless Heir: An Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 5)

Once again she delivered a great book.  She has become one of the authors I will read without reading the synopsis and not be disappointed.

Luc and Summer are a great addition to this series.  I loved them both instantly and looking forward to their story to continue in the next book.

Luc is a self made successful man and oozes confidence and success.   He takes care of his family and will stop at nothing to do that.

Summer has potential but bad luck.  She thinks she was able to start over far from home but ghosts from her old life have the potential of messing all of that up.

I enjoyed every minute of this book and was a little sad to see it end.  I really fell in love with these characters and of course love all of the couples from the previous books.

I hope Nicole is able to find happiness in the future,  she deserves it.
