This was my first mafia book so I don’t know what to expect but I can honestly say, I plan to read the rest in the series for sure! It took me a bit to get into it and understand the families and characters but after a couple chapters, I was sucked in! I have to say, it was better than I expected! So much angst in the beginning but it quickly turned into chemistry and passion between Luc and Summer!

This book had it all. Boss romance, mafia romance and enemies to lovers romance which are some of my favorites. I loved Summer and Lucs story so much that I flew through this book, just like I did with all the other Mafia Elite books. It was filled with the right amount of action, romance and emotion. Highly recommend the whole series. I seriously can’t wait for Treys book!
When I say I couldn’t put this book down, I literally mean I finished in one sitting – at 3 am! The story grips you immediately, intense action from the very start. It has everything you could want – thrilling, surprising, and SO SIZZLING!! I want to hear more about Luc and Summer!! Amy McKinley does a masterful job of bringing you into the world of these characters. Laced with innuendo and tension, you can’t help but root for the main characters and everyone in the Chicago Mafia family. Each one very well distinguished from the next – I will likely go back and read it again! Though I came late to the party, I immediately went and purchased the first four books to read as well. I cannot say enough good things about this. If you like wit, steam, romance and strong characters – with a hint of danger and thrill – run to get this series!!
Welcome to the Mafia Elite and the 5 families who run it. This is Book 5 and involves Luc Savino and Summer Johansson. After a one night stand, decided by both. This couple’s lives go down a different path. As Summer heads to work the next day to discover she has a new boss. The company she worked for as a sub, has been bought. Her new boss, well you need to read the book to discover who he is. I love this series! The women are just as powerful and their alpha males. The storyline is fast paced and will keep you reading. The rollercoaster you are about to board, will trigger all of your emotions. In the end, like me, you will want the next in this series NOW. This author never disappoints, and I am finding myself drawn to her and her books. Her stories are alway high energy and sure to keep you wanting more. This story is well written and the characters fit the parts they portray. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next in this series. I recommend you read this series in order. Get to know the characters and follow the author along.
Summer and Luc meet in a bar and end up having a one-night stand. Little do they know that it is truly only the beginning, of everything!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick and entertaining read. Although it is the 5th book in the Mafia Elite series, it is also great as a stand-alone book. That being said, I enjoyed it so much that I plan to go back and read books 1-4 and any future ones in the series.

Luc doesn’t know that he is in line to be the next Brambilla BOSS. He also didn’t realize that his one-night stand, Summer, is his new executive assistant. When his accounts are drained and Summer looks guilty, he THINKS he knows what’s happening. Little does he know that he has inherited loads of money and found the one for whom he was made. But there is something else going on entirely with Summer. Can he crack her defenses and learn how he can best protect her in time? Can he convince her that he is worth her trust in time?
This was a quicker read than the other books in the series. However, I always enjoy reading about these characters and how their lives are all intertwined. The relationships between them all is fierce and loyal. They’d kill for each other or take a bullet without so much as a second thought. Obviously, I enjoy books with alpha males, deep loyalty, and fierce protective inclinations.
This isn’t the first ME series book I have read, and it definitely won’t be the last. There’s some violence, being a mafia book. There’s some steamy scenes. I enjoy the prose and relationship/world building. Pretty quick read, mostly because I can’t put it down.
Summer was born into a world where her mother was an addict and she had to always be on her guard. She is a survivor, world weary, and finally feels like she is working her way out of that world. She and her best friend, Lauralee, have been working a lot of long hours and sharing an apartment in order to save up some funds. In between shifts, Lauralee spends time with her mafia boyfriend, Ben. One night, Lauralee brings home a secret she overheard and shares a plan with Summer to blackmail him and have her ticket out!
Her plan for blackmail ends with a target on Summer’s back and her fleeing to California with a temp job. After a night with a hot stranger, she heads to work in the morning to find that hot stranger is her new boss! A series of odd coincidences leads to Luc dragging her along while he meets the Five Families of the Chicago Mafia. Will they be able to work together? Will they be able to resist eachother? What have they gotten into?
There are so many layers in this book, and series. It can be read as a standalone, but is obviously better when you have the background of the previous 4 books in the series. Fun reads, nothing too deep but still a well written, fun, steamy read, and I can see myself reading them again when I’m looking for something familiar and easy to enjoy.
I love Mafia romance, this book was no exception for me! I need to invest in the entire series because I need more! This was the first book I have read by this author, but I appreciate her writing. She has this ability to draw you in from the beginning and keep you hanging on, reading well into the wee hours of the morning when you should be sleeping. I love Luc and Summer’s story, the push and pull, the unexpected surprise, and the undeniable heat between them. This should definitely be a must read!
This was a really good read, and a great addition to this series! It was really interesting to see a dynamic that was outside of the families, and I really enjoyed that. It was enthralling, thrilling and exciting. My one complaint is inconsistency. It wasn’t major inconsistencies, but it was enough to give me pause on small scenes. I think it was more of my OCD that caught it, but it absolutely had nothing to do with the major plot or anything like that. This author as always knocked this one out of the park. It was hard to put down and I absolutely can not wait to read the next installment to this series!
I was ready to read this book, so no surprise I was jumping at the bit to read it. It took a minute but I did it. This next installation was about Luc and Summer. Luc worked hard for everything he had and was about to receive the biggest surprise of all. While Summer was dealing with the death of her best friend and trying to keep herself alive. This story captured my attention and I loved the chemistry between Luc and Summer. The story kept me on the edge of my seat needing to find out how things played out.

Ruthless Heir (Mafia Elite Book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Allyson Ware
This author knows how to write a good book. This is the fifth book in this series and before I came across this author, I had never before picked up a mafia themed book. From the very first page to the last, my attention did not deviate. The characters are unbelievably developed and this novel is no exception.
I did not immediately fall in love with Luc, but Summer had my heart from the beginning. There are plenty of other characters to take after if you do not like either of the two. I know some people had difficulty taking off with this novel in the series, but I had absolutely no issue. The adventure takes off immediately and the twists and turns seem never ending. I highly recommend this novel to any fiction lover looking for some romance and adventure in their lives!

Nothing comes close to how amazing this series is! This author has written 5 amazing books that only get stronger as they go. This book had the right amount of angst, and a good bity of mystery that also intertwined parts that were steamy, suspenseful, intense, and unpredictable, I was prepared to finish this book in one sitting because there is not putting it down with this series.
Luc and Summer had passion and fire together. The chemistry from that one night proved to be enough for a life time. Summer was tough and felt smart and fearless. Luc was a pure Alpha who was complex and not easily trusting of those around him, but still charming enough to make his lady swoon. Their relationship begins unconventionally, but soon blossoms to be more if they can make it through the Mafia underworld in once piece. As Summer’s secrets soon prove to be bigger than believed it becomes a question of if that pull they feel is enough, and if Luc is the one who will save her or walk away.

Addictive series Every single book in this series is just pure brilliance. I just love the whole mafia family. This book brings in Luc and Summer. Each has their baggage and must face the trials of their past. The action, drama and romance is off the charts. With old and new characters this book doesn’t miss a beat. I devoured every page and at the end I just wanted more. I recommend starting from book one as you will get a deeper understanding of the five families but each book can be read as a stand alone.

Ruthless Heir is the 5th book in the Mafia Elite series. Like all the others, it was ah-mazing. I was a little confused at first how the characters fit into the story, as neither seemed to be related. However, it all came together and turned out to be another great addition. I love that the characters are strong and independent on their own, and when together they are even stronger. There were a couple of parts that made me laugh out loud. The chemistry between Luc and Summer was strong, and I love how they fit into the couples from the Five Families. I cant wait for the next book in the series and am super stoked to see there are 2 more to come!

I liked how this book started off in a different direction than previous books in the series.
Summer takes a temp job in California after escaping a near-death experience in Georgia. Finding out that her best friend didn’t make it out of the clutch of a New York mobster had Summer acting out of character and hooking up with a hot guy she met at a bar for a one-night stand. Waking up in his posh hotel room, and running late to work, she rushes in to the office only to find out the guy she spent the night with is her new boss. Thanks to her old boss throwing shade her way as he was escorted out, Summer finds that Luc, her one-night stand, now thinks she’s a spy who has worked with his enemies to steal his money.
When a Chicago mob boss shows up at the office and corners Luc while he’s still interrogating Summer, Luc brings her along to meet up with the five families in Chicago until he can figure out how she’s connected to his bank accounts being drained. Meanwhile, Summer fears her escape from Georgia may not have been as seamless as she thought, and she might actually be the reason for the Chicago mafia showing up. Hiding her own secrets, and trying to convince Luc she has nothing to do with his disappearing funds proves to be a challenge as both Luc and Summer get caught up in mafia business in Chicago.
Once again, the characters in this series make it hard not to fall in love with the families who run organized crime in Chicago. It’s a brutal life full of danger, and yet, the bonds with the friends and family in the crime syndicate are strong, loving, and protective. This book delivers, as the previous stories in the series have, on drama, intrigue, mystery, and romance.
Just when I thought Ms. McKinley had made it through all the mafia couples and she came out with this pleasant surprise. Which again, with how amazing she writes, this is one of my favorite books of the entire series. That is saying a lot because I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and she has quickly become a favorite author of mine.
Summer, after having worked her shift, is attacked in the apartment she shares with her friend Lauralee who is nowhere to be seen. Summer can’t dwell on that thought as she must run to save her life. She manages to land a temp job at a financial company and one night decides to celebrate at a bar. This is where she meets Luc who becomes her one night stand, but fate seems to have more up her sleeve for these two. When the next day Summer finds out he is her boss and not only that he suspects her of plotting against him with her former boss. This is where the Chicago mafia families come into play with a bombshell of a secret. This secret involves Luc, his mother, his past, and a position that may open doors for him but also endanger his life as well. As Luc is uncovering his past and what the Chicago mafia wants from him, he works to uncover Summer’s secrets that she is running from. Can Summer trust Luc to keep her safe or will he hand her over to the guys chasing her after he knows her secret?
This is an action packed mafia romance book full of mystery, suspense, and of course our favorite characters from the series. If you have read the other books I definitely recommend reading this one. If you haven’t I still recommend you read this one but I encourage you to read all of them, as they are that good. I cannot wait to see what else Ms. McKinley has up her sleeve!
This book had me hooked from the very beginning, as per usual with this author! She captivated me with character of Summer, who is fleeing from people who have all but put a bounty on her, when she meets Luc and is whisked away to the mafia world in Chicago. As with her other books, the author kept me wondering what would happen next with the end of every chapter, and kept with her tradition of showing the viewpoint from each character.
This book has been my favorite in the series so far because of the characters unique connections to the mafia unlike the characters before them. Summer captivated my interest very early on in the book and kept it the entire time. I was slow to like Luc with his brash and distrusting behavior early on in the book, but the more the story went on and we learned things about his past as well as discover along with him things he never knew, he has definitely grown to be one of my favorite male characters this author has written about. The romance that blossoms between them is also one I will not soon forget, as they both realize throughout the story just how much they have in common and how much each needs the other in their lives.
I absolutely loved seeing the old characters making appearances throughout the book, I’ve always been a huge fan of how she does this in every series she has written. Before finishing the book I discovered she has already started on another book in the series, and needless to say, I’m really excited to read it!
I have read quit a few books written by this author and she just keeps on amazing me with her work. The characters are strong and dark they have to be in their world. I love the little quirks and the way they play off each other makes them somewhat real. The plot what can you say it has it all danger, violence, secrets, lies, and romance.
This is Luc and Summer’s story
A Chicago Mafia boss persuades Luc Savino to board a jet and assume his destiny he didn’t realize that he was handed the crown. He is going to take his one-night stand Summer who is now his new, secretive executive assistant and probable spy for the former CEO of his latest hostile takeover. Summer Johansson flees the state to hide after a mob boss viciously attacks in her apartment. He know she can only hide for so long. With the murder of her best friend, she find herself with a handsome man. Now she is being dragged back to where she ran from. With the secrets Summer is keeping and the lies between them will Luc keep Summer safe? Can they move past the drama? Will they get a happily ever after? I highly recommend this book slash series… Tracy @tracym
Okay, this may be my new favorite book in this series. I absolutely adored this book and really loved how it started with two outsiders to the mafia family and we watch them integrate into the group. This book follows Luc and Summer. They first met at a bar and hook up then the next morning she learns he is her new boss. It gave me Meredith and Derek vibes from Grey’s Anatomy but mafia twist and I was hooked from the start. I already loved this world and the Chicago Mafia Families but watching them bring Luc in and the drama that unfolds and the way Summer and Luc slowly but authentically form a connection was beautiful. And of course the way the girls take in Summer as their own quickly and she shows she is already meant to belong in their world I love the girl tribe they have. Luc was made for Mafia’s life and he didn’t even know it. They both were perfect for each other and perfect to join the mafia family. This book has the perfect balance of drama, family, love, and suspense. It is everything you need in a good quick read.

This was a great 5 star read. Summer meets Luc and has an amazing night with him. She is late to her job the next day, but when she meets her new boss she is shocked. Luc didn’t realize he would see her again so soon. Something happens that causes him to suspect Summer, and he refuses to let her leave his sight. Summer finds herself in the middle of a situation that could blow her secret and put her in grave danger. What will happen when her secret comes out?
We get twists and turns and several secrets. Summer was such a great character, she was strong and exactly what Luc needed in his world. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I love how the wives rallied around Summer and supported her so well. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I’m loving this series and I can’t wait to read more. 1-click and get started today.
This series just keeps getting better. I love the new characters! Luc should have always been a part of this world and now he is discovering his birthright. Summer was running for her life. Can he protect her? Can he make her stay? I also love the continued tales of the Chicago mafia. I can’t even pick a favorite character in this series because they are all so different and perfect in their own way
Summer Johansson ran and is in hiding from the New York Mafia. Luc Savino is a business man set to take over one of the five families of the Chicago Mafia. While on a business trip the two have a one night stand. Then find that Luc is Summer’s new boss. Luc thinks Summer may be the one embezzling his money. But, before he can get to the bottom of the issue, he is called back home. His solution is take Summer back with him. Will Luc be able to withstand his attraction to Summer who he believes is a thief? Will he find the real thief? Will Summer’s past catch up to her being so close to New York? Will Summer trust Luc enough to share her past? Will the two be able to overcome all and find their Happy ever after?
While this is the first book of Ms. McKinley’s I have read, I look forward to reading more. I was told this book could be read as a stand alone, and it can be; I would read the series in order as I think it would help in keeping a clear picture of who everyone is. Definitely worth a read!

This series never disappoints, and in this book we get a fresh perspective on the mafia from Luc and Summer who didn’t grow up in the mafia. Summer and Luc have a one night stand, to find out the next morning he is her new boss. Oops. So many twists and turns, laughs and tears. I recommend this series to anyone looking for a new genre or just like a thrilling romance. This can be read as a stand alone book but knowing the background of the Chicago mafia family does help. Book 6 coming soon, I am so excited.
A Fantastic five-star read. This is number five in the Mafia Elite series and they just go from strength to strength. Luc and Summer will wow you, they are so compelling as you read. The drama and angst in this story will have you on the edge of your seat, and not let up until you are completely finished and saddened that the story is over until the next chapter. The Mafia brides bring something special to this story and Summer certainly fits the bill. This is a great story filled with characters you will love and some you wont but even if you hate them, you know they need to be there. What will number six bring us.

This is the fifth of installment and I incredibly wish that I could give this book more then five stars. Like the previous four installments this book is full of romantic suspense, intrigue, mafia politics, tension, chemistry, and so much more that you will be gripped from page one until the very end. Much like the other books this book’s couple had their issues, but the tension between them was so great that I couldn’t put it down. This book really follows Luc and Summer through their whole relationship but will they finally get the happily ever after they deserve? You’ll have to read this fantastic installment to find out.
This is the 5th book in a fantastic series by an author who has risen right up my favourites list in the last few years. I don’t think I have ever given any of her books less than 5 stars as they are just that good. And this is another 5-star read. I was slightly worried before starting this book as it was a new character brought into the fold of a very tight knit bunch. My own fault for being such an anxious person as this author has never let me down before and still hasn’t. Luc was quickly accepted into the group of elite mafia leaders and Summer fit right in with the kick – a** mafia wives. I loved Luc and Summer’s story. Both are fantastic characters that I immediately connected with and enjoyed reading about. This book is quite angsty, which I love, as they try to fight the attraction they obviously have for one another. As well as the romance story, the author sure knows how to write a fantastic accompanying suspenseful storyline which keeps you gripped and not wanting to put this book down. I loved this book as with all the others in this series and really hope that the author gives us more from this amazing mafia elite.

I love this author and all her books, and with this its no different. Here we are in book 5 of this series, while able to be read as a standalone, I would start from book 1, as you’ll want to know all of it anyways! This one did not let me down and I really love this group of takes no crap women and the men who love them fiercely. I cannot wait for the rest of this series!
I am totally invested in this series. I love how each book is intertwined into the next. The author’s attention to detail when it comes to connecting each book, yet each book centering on different members of the families is what keeps me coming back for the next book. I would not suggest reading this or any of the books in this series as a standalone because each book adds to the bigger picture. In this book, we meet two new characters who are new to the mafia lifestyle. Summer, has bad taste in not only best friends but boyfriends too. Lauralee is Summers’s best friend in Georgia but when Lauralee comes up with a plan to blackmail her New York Mafia boyfriend it sends Summer running for her life and Lauralee dead. When Summer gets confirmation that Lauralee is, in fact, dead, she finds herself in an upscale bar drowning in liquor. This is when Summer meets Luc, has a wild night of adult fun. It’s not until she arrives late for work that Summer realizes the man she has a one-night stand is her new boss! Running from the New York Mafia Summer finds herself now intertwined in the Chicago Mafia. I love the fast pace of this book and how you feel the shift in the relationship between Luc and Summer. I can’t wait to see this series continue!! Keep them coming!!
What an amazing read but I shouldn’t be surprised considering this author is the Queen of Mafia romance reads!! I loved Luc and Summer’s story and I am definitely going to say this is by far my favourite from this author – everything about it was just perfection! It was exciting to read, the characters grabbed my attention from the very beginning. There was passion and chemistry galore – it was just a phenomenal read – it really was. I was on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion and literally didn’t put the book down once I had started it. Absolutely fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to other readers!
What could go wrong with a one night stand? I am sure Summer was thinking nothing would happen if she allowed herself to just break free and have a moment for herself. She wasn’t expecting Luc. Luc was bound and determined to make Summer his. This book has the twists and turns that you got in the previous books. It has all the steam that you could possibly want and the amazing love that these characters all share. I found this book to be an easy read and I love everything mafia, so that makes it even easier to read. Just when I think I know what is going to happen there is a turn that I didn’t see coming. That kept me more engaged and even gave me a bit of a withdrawal after finishing it. If mafia, action, love, steam, bad a$$ females, alpha males, and HEA’s are your thing you will love this book. Just be prepared to have your heart ripped out and shoved back together by the end. So so so good. Reviewed by @bbohls
