Malayeka (Heartstrings Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so fun to read, I loved that Malayeka was the cupid who got the feuding families, whom she had worked with when the feud had first begun ages before. It’s like the saying goes, things just keep coming around, well hopefully after this cupid works her magic, maybe the feud will finally come to an end but with love winning out this time. Malayeka has her hands full in this story, where she’s got to work with the Thomson family and the Reid family who are well known for their feuding town where each side of the road has matching businesses, but each side is run by the other family. Unfortunately for our cupid, the person she is tethered to is a Reid, and her heartstring leads to a Thomson. The two who are attached have had a secret friendship their whole lives that they have had to keep hidden from both families. The Thomson side of this romance has no problem telling his family how he feels, it’s the Reid side who values the love of her family and is too scared to speak up and stand up for the love that she hides deep down, where she thinks if ignored, it’ll just fade away into safety. This is where our cupid gets to come in and help guide these two into seeing how much better life would be if they’d just open up to the love, they have for one another and how much more healing it would be for everyone in the long run in the town. This was such a fun read that incorporates old-time teachings and morals but is based in a modern time. Will these families be able to get past their old-fashioned beliefs and allow their children to let their love for one another blossom, or will they drive the two love birds apart?

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3) by Brooke May is a poignant and beautifully written exploration of love, family, and self-discovery. In this installment, May switches gears and takes readers on a journey into the life of Malayeka, a young woman struggling to come to terms with her past and pave the way for her future.

The author has a talent for making every character feel real and relatable, and Malayeka is no exception. Through her journey, readers witness the power of forgiveness, the importance of family, and the courage required to follow one’s dreams.
As with the previous books in the series, the supporting characters in Malayeka are just as compelling as the protagonist. Malayeka is the third book in the Heartstrings series by Brooke May and I have been enjoying this fun and original paranormal series, each book brings more fun, adventure, and romance and to me each one keeps building a bigger picture of the ‘Cupid’ world. Brooke May has crafted a wonderful, fun series, but these books do show us that things don’t always go according to plan. In this book, we accompany Malayeka as she seeks to ensure her mission doesn’t end up in a complete disaster, unfortunately this is something she is all too familiar with. Is she able to right the wrongs, work her cupid magic, and find a way to get a little of redemption along the way? All I can say is pick a copy of this book and find out the answers yourself!

Book 3 of this super fun and quirky series brings us Malayeka when she is given her next assignment to help Billie and Leo who are actually friends but have to keep their friendship a secret due to feuding families. Yet again this amazing author gives us a fun storyline filled with wonderful characters who I was cheering on right from the start. Bring on the next book because I am having so much fun I need more!

I’ve read a few of Brooke May’s previous books and really enjoyed them. This series did not disappoint! It was such a cute and funny story. Quick and enjoyable read! Definitely to read books in order to make better sense of tidbits along the way. Another one of Cupid’s helpers, Malayeka, has been helping with matching her humans with such an impact that its effects are still felt two centuries in a small village dealing amongst feuding families. Reminds some of the essence behind a pair of a famous pair of star crossed lovers. In the midst of this feuding, there is a pair of strong heartstrings that are strongly connected but is Malayeka up to the challenge to bring them together?

I enjoyed reading this romance story. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I have enjoyed reading her books from the first one I picked up. One of the things I enjoy most about this author is her writing skills and her ability to pull me into her stories. This book is no different. This is a well written story about giving love another chance. The characters are written with a lot of heart and soul. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story which made the story easy to read. I found them to be relatable and had no problems picturing myself in their world. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Cupid can’t do it all. So while he’s busy, his six assistants are helping humans find true love. Malayeka is one of those assistants.

Two centuries ago Malayeka helped a family and today the repercussions are still stinging the small village clans. Malayeka is certain she can still complete this assignment and is determined to help her charge find love. But when the Reids and Thomsons feud is in front of her, she’s even more determined to help straighten things out.

A divided town, fighting families, and a love that is reminiscent of Shakespeare? What else could go wrong?

Book 3 was charming and quaint and very relatable when it comes to the love of sugar and sweets. In this book, Malayeka is given an assignment similar to one she’s had before, and even in the same town.

Our star crossed lovers are Billie and Leo. Two sides of a feuding town, and secret friends since childhood. It’s obvious there’s more to the story almost immediately and Malayeka is determined to not let history repeat and to help clean up a mess this towns been fighting for centuries.

This was a fun, entertaining read with a few mistakes throughout but enjoyable nonetheless. There were hints mentioned throughout that make me hope for more books. I mean with six assistants we have to have at least six books, right? But please tell me we will hear more about the hints throughout!

A unique idea with well known storylines has worked well so far, and I will be watching for more.

If you haven’t completely fallen in love with this series yet, you will be the end of this one! Book 3 features Malayela (Mala) and her quest to restore peace and harmony in a small town that she’s familiar with. The Reids and Thompsons fight like cats and dogs…or the Hatfields and McCoys.

This book is about redemption and righting wrongs..even if they are hundreds of years apart. Be sure to check out this fun rom-com! You won’t be disappointed!

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)

As soon as I started reading this book I thought Hatfield & McCoy. I wasn’t far off, but this has an international flair to it.

Mala has played with this family in the past and wasn’t surprised things hadn’t changed much . She’s on a mission and is determined to be successful.

I was hesitant to read this book since I hadn’t read the others in the series but I’m so glad I did.

Billie and Leo dealt with the bad blood well, most of the time. I thought they were adorable and deserved happiness. Mala was most definitely my spirit cupid with the sweet tooth, if I were only as lucky as she was.

This was a very quick read and worth the time.

This was such an adorable story! It’s part of a series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. We meet Malayeka, an ethereal being or angel, who, along with her with her five “sisters”, work for Cupid to help him with his workload in helping people fall in love. Malayeka is given an assignment to help two people fall in love, Billie Reid and Leo Thomson. The catch, they live in a small town and their families have been feuding for decades and it’s ugly. I loved how well written the characters were and Malayeka was hilarious in her efforts to help them fall in love. I found the story flowed well and had a use of both humor and heart. Highly recommended!

This is the third book in this series and just as the previous two, I was in love by the end of the first chapter. The author did an excellent job keeping you from wanting to put this book down. She did a phenomenal job with her characterization. I personally felt as if I knew these characters. I thought she did an amazing job building the story, so I was able to visually view the world around me. I loved how she weaved the story into a lesson that everyone needs to know which is how one small mistake can impact so many lives and individuals. This is a very wholesome book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend you give this a read.

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Malayeka is a Cupid, or at least, she is part of a team who aid Cupid in bringing humans together in true love bonds, but it is not as simple as it sounds, however, Malayeka does love her job and when she receives her next assignment, she is looking forward to getting started, even though it is not the first time she has been to the place she is being sent.

Two centuries before, Malayeka had been assigned a couple, but it did not go as smoothly as planned and it created a rivalry more thorough than certain ones mentioned in a certain play, so now she is back, she wants to get the lay of the land, in a manner of speaking. Unfortunately, the first thing she sees are two grandpa’s in boats on a pond threatening each other with shotguns, the next thing she sees is the town the two families live in and the literal divide it has created, with the Thompson’s on one side and the Reid’s on the other. The atmosphere is tense as she walks down the middle of the street while being hailed into shops by both sides, but there is only one she is looking for and that is a bakery, this is where she meets Billie, the owner, the first of her pair.

As Malayeka is introducing herself, the bakery suddenly is full of chaos with two men stood outside laughing, this is where Malayeka meets Leo, the other half of her assignment and this is where she realises the extent to what she will have to overcome to bring the two together. With her favourite sweet treat of a cookie in hand, Malayeka starts to make a plan to bring the two and their families together, but will the past repeat itself, or will the future be as sweet as the cookies she loves to eat? This is a sweet romance in every way, which is full of rivalries, loyalties and strong personalities in this tale of fate, romance and feuds.

Malayeka has her work cut out for her. She loves her job as a helper for Cupid. But as usual it’s not that easy of a job. She must deal with feuding families and a town who has their sides they are on. How is she supposed to get them together? What about Billie and Leo? Will they be able to bring the families and the town peace and form unity? This is a quick read filled with romance and I could not put it down. It is fast paced and exciting to read. The characters are also easy to fall in love with. The author has quite the knack for well written romances. I enjoyed this story and I know you will as well.

Malayeka is the third book in the Heartstrings Series and is a Contemporary Romance that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I literally read this in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen. This is a story about Malayeka and she’s a cupid on a mission to right her wrongs from years ago. She’s set out to set things right but will she accomplish or is it really to late? Can Mala redeem herself? I highly recommend reading this book to find out how everything plays out. The characters are fun developed and relatable plus they bring the story to life. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading this series in order as each book is just as good as the last one. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Short, sweet, great read. Such a sweet concept of there being helpers for Cupid, to bring people together. I love a good feud, this one was to the point and resolved nicely. I really did have a little hate for Billy’s mom, the way she guilt tripped her over her grandfather and the way she was living her life hurt my heart for her and her future with Leo. It was nice to see Billy and Leo put their feet down and say enough is enough. Nice clean romance.

Malayka is the third installment in the Heartstrings series. You should read Aiko and Faida in order before this book. I like how the author writes a short review of the story in a way that doesn’t seem repetitive at the beginning of each story. The two individuals who have connected heartstrings are from opposite sides of the crosstown rivalry. This feud between the Thompson and Reid families has been in existence multiple generations before Billie and Leopold were born. From the start Billie who meets Malayka in her bakery seems frustrated with the townspeople’s behavior when Leo and his cousin let some sheep loose in the bakery. These stories are a quick read and an easy escape.

This is one of those books that is quick and easy to read because you get right into the story and can’t put the book down.
This is an author that really knows how to connect to her audience. All of her books and series are different and yet she nails it every time. I love how light-hearted she has kept this series and I think they have been wonderfully written. Any rom-com fan should check them out.

This is a cute, fun and quirky book. I fell in love with it almost immediately. The pace of the book was perfect for the plot. I had to finish the entire book in one sitting and I wouldn’t been satisfied until I did. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone. You will not be disappointed.
Being graced by a cupid is supposed to mean good luck in your love life.
Sadly, that can’t be said for a family who was helped by Malayeka two centuries ago that has affected the clans involved all the way to the present day.
Always willing to look on the bright side and snag a good cookie, Malayeka is always eager to help the humans she’s assigned to.
That is, until she is reunited with the Reids and the Thomsons, two feuding families who she’s determined to make it work out this time around.
Shotgun wielding grandpas and families dividing a town quite literally in two, are just a couple of issues she comes face-to-face with.
This is Mala’s chance at redemption.
I’m excited to see more of this authors books in the future. And seeing how she will continue to grow and flourish as a author.

This is a cute quirky rom com book that is very easy to read in one sitting. This series is about the cupid’s of the world and bringing love to those entrusted to them. Seems easy enough yet when Mala makes one mistake it impacts the fate of two clans for several generations.

With her positive outlook on life and willingness to make things right Mala seeks out to right her wrong from many years ago. Though now it involves shotgun wielding grandpas and a town literally torn into two(kind of reminiscent of the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s). Can Mala help Billie and Leo find their own path and finally extinguish this age old war? Or are they destined to follow in their families footsteps and be torn apart just another casualty of this drama?

This really was an easy book to read, and super fast at that. If you like romantic comedies with a paranormal twist and a few wrong turns along the way then you should definitely give this book a shot. You never know when the book you take a chance on could change your day!

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Malayeka is a fantastic read. I couldn’t put it down. This is the third book in A Heartstrings Series.

Malayeka is Cupid’s right hand woman. She is on the task of mending families. With romance and being a Cupid it’s hard. Can she do her job? The quote I chose for Malayeka is: “I’m Malayeka. I’m here for a job assignment and I saw your shop. I have a horrible sweet tooth.”

Highly recommended for Clean Romance lovers.

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in this series, I was looking forward to this third instalment, and I was not disappointed. Cupid Malayeka is assigned her next humans to help, and as eager as ever, Mala is happy to help. Unfortunately, she has met the Reids and the Thomsons before and it did not end well, in fact it has affected the clans ever since Mala helped two centuries ago, right up to the present day. However, she is determined that this time it will end differently for Billie and Leo, who are friends but have to keep it secret because they come from different families, who’s feud has divided a town. Despite having to deal with shotgun wielding Grandpas, Mala dose not want Billie and Leo to be destined to repeat history, and have an ill-fated love affair. If only the families could get over their hatred, and maybe the couple can lead the way, and give Mala a chance at redemption. This is a heartwarming secret/forbidden romance with a twist, in the form of Cupid. The characters are likeable and relatable and the storyline is entertaining and kept me happily turning the pages.

This is the 3rd book is the Heartstring series and i really love these book. Each book is filled with romance and fun as our cupid helpers aid their humans to find love. But the path to true love never runs smoothly as evidence in this story.

Malayka has got her next assignment. She needs to help this couple realise that they are meant to be. Leo and Billie have been friends for years but can’t be anything more. Even their friendship is secret.
The reason for this is a fued that has run between their families for generations and this fued means that there love would never Be accepted.

Malayka knows this couple is meant to be together but it is a true Romeo and Juliet story but hopefully without the tragedy at the end. Malayka definately has her work cut out as she needs to make Billie and Leo realise their love for each other and make them strong enough to stand up to their families.

Can they be strong enough to fight for their love? What will this mean to the fued between the families? Can love really heal and mend generations of anger and hatred?

This one is about Malayeka who is doing her cupid duties and she is trying hard not to screw this job up. She is trying to hook up Billie and Leo but their families hate each other and they aren’t took keen on one another. The cast of characters is wild, you have rednecks coming from out of the hills and you have a more refined family that is the main characters. Malayeka has such a good heart and tries so hard to do the right thing but people don’t always cooperate. This is a laugh out loud story that will keep you turning pages late in the night. I could not help myself other than to love this book by such a wonderful author! I swear every book that this author creates and writes, sucks me in completely! I felt so much happy feelings as I read this book!

As Cupid, and with mistakes and mis haps, I really loved Malayeka! She had tried and caused her explosions in past jobs she was assigned. She had a good heart, and always tried her best! Though, her methods proved otherwise. I love this quirky book. It was a literal laugh out loud book with a lot of love. Loved the characters Billie and Leo. Great character development, and I loved even though when odds are against you, you keep trying even though you may tumble and fall! Loved this rom com full of heart!

Malayeka is the third book in the wonderful The Heartstrings Series. I loved the first two books in this romantic comedy series. With different Cupids throughout the world, you would think that things go smoothly. Wrong! Unfortunately, not everything goes right even though they have the best intensions and an overly positive outlook on all things. This clean romantic tale is Malayeka’s story.

It’s easy to get lost in the story and you can’t help but fall in love with this quirky cupid. Laughing out loud as she tries to right her wrongs and waring families wielding shotguns.

Mala caused a major disaster two centuries ago with life lasting effects. Now she must try to set it right and this is where the adventure begins.

Can Mala finally fix and put to rest her error and find her redemption?

Make sure you grab a copy and settle in for an entertaining afternoon read.
