Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3) by Brooke May – Review by Tia Martel

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cupid can’t do it all. So while he’s busy, his six assistants are helping humans find true love. Malayeka is one of those assistants.

Two centuries ago Malayeka helped a family and today the repercussions are still stinging the small village clans. Malayeka is certain she can still complete this assignment and is determined to help her charge find love. But when the Reids and Thomsons feud is in front of her, she’s even more determined to help straighten things out.

A divided town, fighting families, and a love that is reminiscent of Shakespeare? What else could go wrong?

Book 3 was charming and quaint and very relatable when it comes to the love of sugar and sweets. In this book, Malayeka is given an assignment similar to one she’s had before, and even in the same town.

Our star crossed lovers are Billie and Leo. Two sides of a feuding town, and secret friends since childhood. It’s obvious there’s more to the story almost immediately and Malayeka is determined to not let history repeat and to help clean up a mess this towns been fighting for centuries.

This was a fun, entertaining read with a few mistakes throughout but enjoyable nonetheless. There were hints mentioned throughout that make me hope for more books. I mean with six assistants we have to have at least six books, right? But please tell me we will hear more about the hints throughout!

A unique idea with well known storylines has worked well so far, and I will be watching for more.
