A Girl, Stuck (Found Families Series) by Kelly Elizabeth Huston – Review by Lisa Helmick

A Girl, StuckA Girl, Stuck by Kelly Elizabeth Huston
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I enjoyed parts of this story and others not so much. I liked a lot at times because of the Interaction between her and Trey but the other times was a lot of descriptive paragraphs and to me..filler. There is something to be said for setting a scene but overdoing it just leads to boredom.

The tension and suspense perpetuated between these two in intense and has that “hook” appeal. That is what keeps the pages turning. When will they see each other again? Or what will happen if they do? Seeing them together is what makes the story go…..well also Leo.

Overall it is an okay read. I could easily put it down and had to force myself a time or two to get back to it. Once I started skimming the descriptive pages it went much faster. I feel the story needs more. I did not feel for the characters when injured or worry about them when in tense situations. The title fits in here nicely.

This beautiful picture book both engages children and teaches them about all the responsibilities (and fun) that come with pet ownership! The storyline educates in a way that flows rather than being a list of dos and don’ts which makes it a great way to introduce little ones to what is required to be a responsible pet owner. Highly recommended!

This was a great little mystery book for kids. Keeps you reading and wanting to know what happens the entire time. And a dog that speaks in code? Really cool. The writing was great, suspense and ending were great. Would definitely recommend it to kids getting into reading chapter books. Definitely will be on the look out for more from this author.

Celtic Fairies, Fables, and Folklore!

Christy Nicholas loves all things historical, especially if it has anything to do with Ireland, Scotland, England, or Iceland, and she writes historical fantasy, travel guides, and a book on writing craft. Her tales tend to the gritty, with bittersweet endings, and she’s never afraid to torture her characters. But there is beauty in all darkness, and she loves showing that, as well.

Before You Say I Do by Marina Hanna

Not all rules are made to be broken.
For example, don’t fall for your one-night stand.
My ex-boyfriend ensured that my trust in men was shredded when he committed his heinous transgression. Now one-night stands are my go-to approach in order to satisfy my amorous needs.
Until LIAM CROSS.
It goes without saying I’m instantly attracted to his good looks. His air of self-confidence, his sexual charisma, and his seductive smile collectively entice me.
But it’s his sin-filled kisses, his sexy ripped body, and his skill at satisfying my needs, that has one scorching night of passion turning into two, then three, and soon enough we’re friends with benefits.
My downfall is complete when every wall I have erected comes tumbling down and I find myself falling hard, foolishly fantasizing about a happy ever after with a man who has his own aversion to commitment.
But when he makes me an offer I can’t refuse, life throws a curveball, and my skeletons are revealed when my ex steamrolls his way back into my life causing everything to spiral out of control.
When falling in love was never the plan — a broken heart is unavoidable.

Marina was born and raised in London, with frequent plane journeys to other parts of the world.

Her main goal in life is to inspire her children to follow their dreams, and to know that with hard work and effort, anything is possible.

She likes to read and write romance that’s fun, flirty and sexy, with a lot of steam.

Managing Mischief (Shattered Embrace Series) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Beverly Finnie

Managing Mischief (Shattered Embrace #2)Managing Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashton and Zachary are back for another round. In Managing Mischief the author brings the reader on a journey of trust. They need to trust each other, however that’s easier said than done.
I’ve enjoyed the chemistry between these characters. It’s off the charts. Which is what sucked me in. Had me wanting more. This book is no different.
While both these characters had growth in book 1, the growth they experienced in book 2 seemed greater. In saying that, this book is definitely not a standalone novel. Book 1 is needed to get the initial understanding. Book 2 being the growth and understanding.
While I would like to read more from this author. I also want more from this series’ characters. If it be a continuation of Ashton and Zachary’s story or one of the supporting group of friends. More stories to tell with the right amount of passion, chemistry, romance, drama, ect.

Charlotte’s Control (The Control Series) by Maggie Sims

Charlotte’s Control is the first book in The Control Series. This is a Historical Romance that I absolutely loved reading . I’m a huge fan of this author and Historical Romance. She did a wonderful job creating amazing characters that make the story come to life. I could picture myself right along with them. Her attention to detail made it pop. This is definitely my favorite yet. This is an age gap romance and its William and Charlotte’s story. She’s a widow and likes to be in control especially in the bedroom. William is a bit younger but you wouldn’t know has he still carries the weight of his father’s transgressions. These two my goodness are so good together. I don’t want to give to much away. I’m going to highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next with William and Charlotte. It’s worth the read I promise.. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Family Ties Family Lies by Jacqueline Boulden is an emotional mystery. Rose Webster is a photojournalist on the mend after being injured at a rally. She is summoned back home to care for her ailing mother and discovers a whole new mystery. This book was a tear-jerker. I enjoyed getting pulled into Rose’s investigation. I also liked the small-town setting. Reading about the relationship between Rose and her mother tugged at my heart. It reminded me of my mom and grandmother as she cared for her in her final months. This is a very engaging story that you will struggle to put down.

Mistaken Identity (London Detective Agency Series) by Stephanie R. Caffrey – Review by Megan Conley

Mistaken Identity (London Detective Agency Book 1)Mistaken Identity by Stephanie R. Caffrey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the perfect mix of suspense, intrigue, and romance. Caffrey kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and kept me turning pages well into the night. If you are looking for forced proximity, witty banter, suspense, action, and an ultimate HEA then this is the book for you. The character development of our FMC Evelyn and our MMC Patrick both independently and together is phenomenal. And I also love that James, the cheeky wingman for Patrick, is really such a huge part of this book but it doesn’t come off creepy or forced. The plot line flows so well and there are some really great twists and turns that had me gasping as I read. It really is just an all-around great book. I cannot wait to see what Caffrey has in store for her readers next.

Fearless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, Book 5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Fearless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #5)Fearless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the Bennett family and I love visiting them in Langston Falls ! I know I’m not allowed to have favourites but if I were to have a favourite it would have to be James ❣️🤷‍♀️🤣🙈😉

Loving the dedication to author’s dad , really special bond and love shared , much like Roy in the Bennett family 🤗

Ok so the patriarch of the Bennett family , Roy had a heart attack that shocked the family and now he’s on the way home to recover and they’re in need of a nurse and that’s how Sara , our travelling nurse comes into their lives …..

Sara and Noah are the nicest peeps and Noah is such a sweet kid and she’s raised him by herself but he’s coming to an age where he wants to settle and have roots like a normal kid would and I’m soooooo grateful it’s Langston Falls anyhoo their first friends are Tinkerbelle ( cutest little fur princess) and Crystal that runs the motel they’re staying at temporarily…,

James was ready to propose to Sam and then she ups and leaves !? Like girl I get it but I don’t get it 🤷‍♀️ so James is licking his wounds and is a little jaded but it won’t last long because between Sara and Noah all resistance will crumble 😉

Sara is running from something and I love the way James encourages her to face up to her past and he doesn’t run from her or the situation , this man is a real honey❣️

There’s so much to love about this book and I could carry on forever telling you about it and what these people mean to me but if I do that I’ll be taking away your opportunity to get involved with them ❣️📚😉 go ahead and join them 🥰

The Complete Echo Series: A Heartfelt Romance Collection (The Echo Series) by C.R. Alam – Review by Heidi Sturgess

The Complete Echo Series (Echo #1-4)The Complete Echo Series by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

These were the people to “hang “ with fictional friends that become fictional family ❣️

1 ECHOING HEARTS

Rae does her friend a favour and does an interview with a home designer , thing is when she gets there said home owner is there and he’s not very welcoming to say the least but for the sake of his sister Kay he “tolerates” his house guest for the weekend and it pays off well for Kay and him in the long run …, the very long and beautiful run …😉

Dean is a delicious and delectable speciMAN but a little jaded after being left at the altar and he’s met his match with Rae though and she gives as good as she gets and the 2 of them had me in stitches in the beginning with their banter …

Rae didn’t have the best childhood and after her mum dies her grandparents raised her so after they passed on she essentially had no family so her friends are her family and she’s especially close to Brandon and has even travelled with him and his band I really felt I could identify with Rae on a few things like the loss of her mother and her thoughts on friends being family and the fact that a man and a woman can be friends without romantic attachments ….

Dean and Rae are good together and Rae has a big heart , Dean needs to sort his “demons” Pune gore he looses the best thing that came into his life and he can thank his lucky stars for a friend like Chris and Brandon that’s so gracious and becomes a friend …..

The people working for Dean may be old but they’re wise and I just love his driver and wanted to hug him he’s a real sweetheart 🥰 all in all he had a loving tribe and his family is warm and loving and they adore Rae and they’re just what she needs ❣️I fell in love with Rae and Dean and yes I wanted to shake him a little but he does come to his sense and they have their HEA but I want to see Brandon get his HEA…… looking for to His Forever Muse

2 HIS FOREVER MUSE

My nerves are shattered as Calliope is escaping her prison , my heart aches for her but at the same time it soars because she is so brave and determined ! The man she was involved with was a monster but he is also a man that comes from a very powerful family , this isn’t going to be an easy battle for her ……

So we catch up with Rae who is being rushed to hospital to have her baby and her bestie Brandon is on hand to get her to the hospital , her husband Dean is on his way to meet them and again I feel my heart beating faster because the precious bundle is coming to early but she’s in good hands ….

Brandon is not only a talented musician it a gifted artist and he’s already had his first exhibition which was rather successful and after a crazy work tour he takes a breather and starts touring and it’s in Morocco where he meets up with his “ muse” his forever love , his best friend and band members sister Calliope aka Callie and as youngsters they were tight and feelings were there but never talked about it acted on , their paths parted but what a beautiful reunion in Morocco and then Paris , hand on my heart ❣️

Brandon and Callie are just poetry in motion and there were moments we here my heart stopped with fear thanks to man that won’t be mentioned ( he deserves no airtime) but it also soared because of Popo with her delicious meals and warm heart , you just want to sit around her table , hug her , eat her food and talk your heart out with her . Then there’s Callies tribe , her Amazonian warriors ❣️Genevieve, Anais and Madeleine that protects her so fiercely but love just as hard and let’s not forget the precious little Eleanor aka Ella ❣️all these people just climbed into my heart and made me part of their family !

Loved
Every
Minute
Reading

❣️📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3. UNEXPECTED ENTANGLEMENT

Again I just got lost in the cover art ❣️love the dedication ❣️📚

So now we’re all friends or rather family it really felt good to be amongst my people again 🫶🏼 knowing Rae and her history I was curious to hear how the other family lived…

I can only imagine the shock Rowan must’ve had first of loosing her father and then his dying words and wish 🥲so Rae can’t meet up with her family but Chris goes on her behalf and he has alterior motives and none are sinister but the man has his own issues and he’s protective of his friend , bless his heart …..

So Chris and Rowan didn’t get off to a good start but soon enough they’re working as a team to arrange the wedding , promote the inn , get the community on board oh and find out who is trying to sabotage them around every corner …. I know such excitement !

Kieran is a good soul and a protective brother but his heart is in the right place and I just fell in love with his nature 😉

Alit of people saw Chris as a threat which in turn put Rowan in a difficult position so out of pure desperation she makes a rash decision that puts both her in Chris in the limelight but man what sun it was to watch these two , they’re so different yet so similar , a perfect match I must say 🥰😉

Gibbs worked on my last nerve but again you can’t fault the old guy , his heart is in right place he’s just not always good at showing it and more often than not comes across as a real gruff and grumpy old man , please be patient with him and his show him love , I know these people have become part of me so I just want others to love them like I do 😘

This is a story of love , redemption, regret, forgiveness, remorse , hope and so much more but it’s also laced with anger , jealousy and vengeance.
I was kept on my toes , I laughed , cried , held my breath and cheered friends on and I’ve a new found respect for cats 🐾🤣, just saying !

4. DANGEROUS RHYTHM

Having read the previous 3 books I knew I was in for a treat but this one was like a good red wine it only gets better with time 😉❣️📚

Loving the cover art and it really captures the characters natures , Cutis looks nerdy and with his rockstar persona you’d expect a certain arrogance but I tell you what , just watch him with kids and your knees will turn to jelly and the cover captures that perfect and as for Lina is captures her seriousness 😉so yes in this instance you can judge a book by its cover ❣️📚😉

So Curtis and his band are on your and Lina Is part of the protection detail , things get little more than tense when they’re witness to a lethal stabbing and now the mafia is after him and Lina is now full on protector and the hunt is on , the hunt for blood and the hunt for love , I know it sounds weird but read it and you’ll see where I’m coming from
🥰😉

Lina is very serious and Curtis is a lot more laid back and they bring out the best in each other I think , like yin and Yang ☯️ and I loved watching them find each other in between the twists , suspense and tension of their quest to stay safe . I enjoyed going with them to so many different places and sampling different cuisine 😉🤣it really was just a brilliant read from start to finish !

Managing Mischief (Shattered Embrace #2)Managing Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I know it says it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first because there are bits of information that has which can answer some questions that are likely to come up. Just like this answered some I had for the first book

This second is essentially a retelling but in the male perspective. It provides more depth for how they arrived to their “destination” lol.
The BDSM kinks are accurate for the most part and easily relatable to. However it again plateaued for me and I felt the plot hit a stand still. The conversation became repetitive and after a while a bit dull and doomed.
It’s a good read to pass the time a quick series with a surface level intrigue.

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace #1)Hidden Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was genuinely excited to dive in the characters were spicy. And it had everything you’d want a alphadominated field that’s boss is rendered speechless when his little brothers best friend barrels in loud and in charge. However that’s not her own personality. Who she is behind closed doors is everything he’s wanted. Everything’s he’s craved and needed. And now’s his opportunity to snare her Especially considering she’s now applied to become a member to he and his brothers BDSM club.

This book is extremely promising a hot and heavy read that can tide you over when you want something fast.

The conversation does get a bit repetitive and The waters get a bit murky when it seems the two MC’s have conflict. But that quickly goes away within a few pages.

Personally could’ve been a killing swoon worthy book it just got lost in the mix with the repetition, and plateaued plot

4.5 Stars

Porter and Midge: Paws and Responsibilities: A Kid’s Guide to Welcoming a New Dog (Porter and Midge Series) by Jennie Chen & Giselle Nevada is a great addition to this cute series. It is a perfect read for any child/family looking at welcoming a furry friend into their lives.
The illustrations that accompany the story really help to reinforce the ‘lessons’ in the book. They are cute, interesting, and colourful which helps to keep the focus on the story and educational components which help to teach children/families about the responsibilities of being a pet owner/guardian. These are important lessons to learn and know, because a pet comes with a lot of responsibility, and this helps to guide the reader in knowing what those responsibilities are. There is more to being a dog owner than merely supplying food and shelter. This covers everything from puppy care, to grooming, regular vet visits, training, socialization, and choosing the right dog breed to suit your family.
As with the other books in the series, this is a fun, quick, and easy read that has also has a great rhyming rhythm, a bit of a lyrical feel, that will help readers to connect with the messages.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Jennie Chen & Giselle Nevada!

Make Me Burn is the ninth book in the North Fork Series and is a Contemporary Romance that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you’ve finished. What a wonderfully written second chance romance/best friends sister romance. The characters definitely have some sizzling chemistry between them. They’ve both wanted one another for long time but now that she’s older and he’s no longer best friends with her brother all bets are off. I highly recommend reading this sizzling hot story to find out if they get their HEA? I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Give Us Bad Boys and Billionaires is a collection of short stories.

Calling them stories I think is a stretch, I like smut as much as the next person but these stories have no plot and rush to the spice.
In at least one of them I would have like to see character development or happy ever after.
The writing in regards to body parts also didn’t sit well with me! The way in which things were described was just off-putting.

Fun and engaging with beautiful colorful illustrations, Mermaid Tails is a great children’s book. Turning each page to learn different scenarios with the mermaids in how they live, colors and how they sleep.

With each page there is a fun fact that is very educational and fun to learn about sea animals. The colorful illustrations are very engaging and bring each page to life.

Highly recommended book for any mermaid lover..

The Complete Echo Series: A Heartfelt Romance Collection (The Echo Series) by C.R. Alam – Review by Kerry Baker

I had read some of these books previously and thoroughly enjoyed them so jumped at the chance to read all of them in one collection. I loved each and every one of these books and all of them for different reasons. There were some common themes across all of them though – great writing, fantastic characters and brilliant storylines.
This author is one I have only become recently familiar with but I am enjoying what I have read so far. Although this is a collection of books, I read through them all so quickly because I couldn’t put them down. I wanted to see how things would play out and I went from one book to the next with ease. This is a brilliant collection and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

This is a lovely book that would be great to read with children who have been asking for a dog to join their family. It gives lots of talking points for parents/carers to talk through about all the different ways you have to care for a new dog and or puppy.
The story is a delightful rhyming tale that will certainly capture children interest as they learn along with Lora and CJ everything they need to know about welcoming a dog into their family.
A sweet read!

Echoing Hearts
This was such a beautifully written story, I really did enjoy it. The characters were well written and were likeable. Dean and Rae were both great characters to read about, their first encounter actually made me chuckle – Dean was not impressed but there was so clearly an instant attraction between them. They both had past issues that was preventing them both from even contemplating a relationship but I was desperately rooting for them both the whole way through the book. I think Rae was definitely my favourite character, she had such a wonderful personality and was so full of confidence and independence – I just loved her!

His Forever Muse
This was such a wonderful story. I fell in love with the characters pretty much straight away. The way the author write from in both the past and present made me feel like a really did know that characters and the journey of their relationship. I think it was pretty clear from the moment that they reunited that there was this amazing chemistry and connection. The author did really with the handling of some of the sensitive topics in the story. She wrote them well and there is a trigger warning from her.
Brandon was a really lovely character and I loved how protective he was of Callie.
Callie is one of those characters who you just instantly take to, she has overcome so much in her past, she had such strength and resilience and I could tell how much she wanted Brandon but was really struggling to let go and move on with her life.

Dangerous Rhythm
Yes!! I loved this story so, so much! I loved the characters, the plot, everything really! Curtis was exactly as I wanted to be, however with what he witnessed we begin to see a little bit of vulnerability creep in. How amazing was Lina! She is my favourite character! She’s fierce, independent and just an all-round amazing woman!! The connection that these two had was great and I loved the chemistry between the two of them.
With a few twists and turns in the story along with amazing characters this story kept me engaged from beginning to end and I would 100% recommend it!

I loved this book so much! It was really nice to read something a little bit different – and what’s more different than a theme park! I have read so many books by this author now and nothing she writes surprises me at all.
I loved the characters Cy and Jolie – I loved the undercover they didn’t know who each other was and in my opinion that gave them the perfect chance to get to know each other properly! They had such chemistry and it certainly made those pages sizzle at times! Jolie was such an amazing character, I really did love her and everything she did for and everything she did for her family, she was such a relatable character and I really took her into my heart and I 100% came to love Cy in the end!

Planting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Though Yoga by Janice Pratt and Lenora Degen – Review by Lisa Helmick

Planting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Through YogaPlanting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Through Yoga by Janice Pratt

I really enjoyed this! I like how the author makes a connection between yoga and plants. Very cool! I loved reading the lesson plans. The author puts ideas for different ages and details everything very well. I could easily picture it all in my head. This shows how to have a 6 week class for kids.

There are great affermations and breathing techniques throughout. Plus games and songs! I am enjoying this as its is giving me all kinds of ideas to do with the grandkids.

My only issue is that I wish they had included pictures of all the different yoga poses they suggest. Some are self explanatory (like the frog) but others like mountain, fish, star and windmill are unknown to me. I have only done a few yoga poses do I will have to look them up.

Mermaid Tails by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Megan Conley

This is seriously one of the cutest children’s books I’ve read in a long time. I love the inclusivity and originality of it! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading it but I absolutely fell in love with the concept and I couldn’t wait to see how each of the sea creatures was going to work with the mermaid concept. This was truly such an innovative idea to not only encourage kids to use their imaginations but to also learn about the amazing sea creatures inhabiting our oceans. The illustrations are absolutely phenomenal and they are so bright and enthralling. If you’ve got a kiddo who loves mermaids, sea creatures, or both you need to get this book RIGHT NOW!
