Dirty Kisses and Conflicting Wishes (Kiss Me Series Book 1) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Angela Hayes

Dirty Kisses and Conflicting WishesDirty Kisses and Conflicting Wishes by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dirty Kisses and Conflicting Wishes is the first book in the Kiss Me series by Danielle Jacks. This is my second read by Ms. Jacks and it has become my favourite of hers, so far. This is a bit of a steamy romance- with a fake relationship, misunderstandings, a tangled web, tension, drama, emotion, and a little angst.
Zoe’s seemingly perfect life crumbles around her, leaving her somewhat adrift. But will a spontaneous decision end in more heartache? You’ll have to read the story to find out!
A fun read!

Thank you, Danielle Jacks!

Kissing Scars by Jim Shomos

I grabbed this book solely because I fell in love with the cover, I went in blind which is something I don’t normally do but because the cover was so inviting I decided to try something new. It took me just a couple kindle swipes to get into the flow and writing style of this author and then literally could not put it down! This story was so beautifully written and I completely fell in love with Sanaya and Leo. I felt like I was actually on their journey with them and their feelings were described so well I could actually feel every emotion. This whole story was different for me, it wasn’t your normal sappy love story (which dont get me wrong, I love sappy a whole lot) but there was a different feel to this. It’s listed as a rom com, and I see that but there was very subtle humor and most of it was the interaction between Sanaya and Leo, which makes sense because there was not a lot of other character involvement within the story.

There was one scene which literally tore my heart out and without realizing, I had tears running down my cheeks and my heart hurt. This was both my favorite scene and my least favorite in the story. If there is one downside to the book, it would have to be I wanted more, knowing what happened next would have been awesome, but my imagination handled the rest.

I can not wait to read more from this author, I loved this book and am so thankful judging it by its cover paid off in spades! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Love Unexpected by Marina Hanna is a captivating contemporary romance. that completely captivated me right from the very first page. I cannot wait to read other books by Marina. It is a quick read, but it has everything that makes it a wonderful story. The chemistry is smoking, and I love the sass and a little bit of angst.

An unexpected kiss with a stranger was the highlight of her night. What she did not expect was that he is her new boss. The sparks fly and the fun begins.

Kissing ScarsKissing Scars by Jim Shomos
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kissing scars by Jim Shomos is a quick, easy, and sweet read. It a Contemporary romance about finding love unexpectedly- written beautifully with emotion, humour, drama, angst, and obstacles to overcome.
Because this is such a short little read, I don’t want to give too much away- suffice to say that though this may be short, it packs the punch of a much bigger novel.
Sanaya is a computer games designer who has moved to Australia to better her career. She might have moved for her career, but Sanaya also dreams of one day starting a family. Then along comes Leo, who is two decades older than her, with three grown children of his own and no desire for anymore. But the heart wants what the heart wants- and so this story unfolds. What happens next makes for a emotive read.
Now that I have had a taste of what he can do I am looking forward to reading more of Mr Shomos’s work.

Thank you, Jim Shomos!

Love Unexpected by Marina Hanna is a wonderful contemporary romance that completely captivated me right from the very first page. This is a little office romance about finding love unexpectedly- with a little sprinkling of drama and angst to add some tension and keep things interesting.
Jules is out with friends enjoying a few drinks when she notices a devastatingly handsome man across the room, eyes locked, with magnetic chemistry swirling between them. The charged evening ends when the stranger unexpectedly bestows her with the best kiss of her life. She can’t stop thinking about him and the electrifying kiss they shared. Never expecting to see him again, imagine her shock when she turns up to her new job a few days later to discover that he’s her new boss. Things are about to get interesting. Will they be able to resist their attraction and keep things professional? Or will they succumb to desire? Add a little angst and drama- and get set for an awesome ride!
This is my first book by Marina Hanna, and after reading this I am happy to say that it definitely won’t be the last. I am really looking forward to exploring more of her work asap!
I am happy to recommend this book- it is well worth the read!

Nightfall by T.K Lawyer is a captivating paranormal (shifter) romance, with just enough angst and drama to keep things interesting. This isn’t my first read by Ms. Lawyer, but it is definitely my favourite, so far.
What happens when Tamara’s discovers there is a lot more to her faithful ‘pet’ than she could ever have imagined. And how exactly did Josh get himself in the position of playing ‘pet’- well, you’ll just have to read all the interesting details for yourself- because what happens here makes for a great read.

Chased (A Cambridge Men of Honour Novel Book One): A Dark Mafia Bad Boy Romance (Cambridge Men of Honour—Dark Mafia Romances 1) by Felicity Brandon – Review by Angela Hayes

book cover

Chased by Felicity Brandon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

Chased is the first book in the Cambridge Men of Honour series by Felicity Brandon. This is a dark and angsty mafia/crime lord romance- but maybe not quite the mafia you may be expecting. I love Felicity Brandon’s books- so I was really excited to get my hands on this book and discover the Cambridge Men of Honour.
While I normally love a good anti-hero, and devour dark romantic suspense- this story really frustrated me and I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. Chase was arrogant, rude, controlling, and ruthless- wrapped up in an expensive suit and a sexy English accent. He should have had me swooning from the get go- as bad boys in suits are my weakness. But instead, he just annoyed me and made me angry. I am so sorry to say that- because I genuinely love Ms. Brandon’s writing- but this time this book wasn’t for me. I liked Allegra a little more than Chase- but ultimately not enough to sway my opinion of the book. There were aspects of Allegra and Chase’s relationship that felt forced and not believable. I had a few issues with the story, and I had trouble accepting that Chase would spank an inexperienced (in any kind of BDSM) prospective lover 75 times on the first occasion, out of the blue- and what followed with his ‘aftercare’ and her reaction to the experience just didn’t sit right with me-it felt ‘wrong’ and I can’t tell you why exactly.
I really wish I could give this book all the stars, but I always give my honest opinion in any reviews I write. I apologise to the author for not loving it more- because it is something she has created and it’s obvious that she put a lot of thought, energy, and heart into it- so I appreciate her time and effort. Like I said, I normally love her books, and I really wanted to love this one far more than I did. I will revisit this book in a month or two, to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ reading day.
I do want to continue with the series- I am curious to see what Book #2 holds for us.

Thank you, Felicity Brandon!

The House that Adelia Built AUDIO BOOK by Mya O’Malley – Review by Carly Vogler

The House that Adelia Built by Mya O’Malley is an amazing Paranormal Romance. Mya O’Malley is a wonderful author and never ceases to amaze me!

The way O’Malley is able to connect the different stories and really help you feel like you are in the story is unbelievable. At around 5 hours long, this is a story you won’t want to put off.

Adelia was the lighthouse keeper’s wife in the 1800’s. Hope is a present day tour guide for the property, but feels an unusual calling to the old building. She’s falling in love with a new man, but still feels caught in old feelings, and the unexplainable mystery of the
lighthouse. As the truth comes out piece by piece, Hope is forced to face reality and overcome her fears.

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven Series Book 3) by AJ Renee – Review by Carly Vogler

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven, #3)Cursed Whispers by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Whispers by AJ Renee is the third book in the Broderick Coven Series. Because each of the stories follows different people, you can definitely read them each as standalones. However, you will want to read them all anyhow, so just plan on it!

After being held captive for 8 years, Claudia is on the run. Badly wounded in her wolf form, she’s rescued by a veterinarian who just so happens to be able to speak to animals. (Only fitting, right?) Claudia isn’t looking for love, she’s looking for her daughter and for safety. Max feels the connection, but can’t seem to get Claudia to open up.

A great love story that leaves you rooting for true love, and on the edge of your seat for justice!

Cursed Sight by AJ Renee is the second book in the Broderick Coven Series. I did not read the first story, and did just fine, so I would consider this a standalone for the most part. (You’ll fall in love with the writing style and want to read them all anyhow.)

Ethan didn’t realize he had powers, and is looking for someone to help him use and control them. Serena needs an oracle in her coven when Ethan comes looking for help. An obvious match, they start working together. As the two grow closer, Ethan starts having bizarre dreams about Serena and becomes protective. Serena said she’d never love again, but is she falling for him?

Can they figure out the danger together and put a stop to it, or will Serena push Ethan away until it’s too late?

This is my first read from this author and I was pulled right in by her writing.
I really liked the characters and their story.

Tamara has a not so great past with relationships, so much so that she has a pretty big wall built up around her heart. When Josh first saw Tamara, he knew that she was his mate. He takes certain steps to try and be around her until he can get her to open up.

Will Josh be successful and finally get his mate?

Overall I enjoyed the book. My emotions were all over the place. Had some level of frustration with Tamara. We get steaminess, romance, and so much more. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

Jules, wow, she is a strong, independent woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. I love characters like this. When they get together, its the chemistry that is so hot. Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1)Sexy Drug by Melody Calder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart Book 1) by Melody Calder was a great read! This book had some action, was full of crime, drama, and some romanticism. This book does end on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to see what happens next! There are several strings left to unravel this story. My only complaint is the point of views. They switch back and forth between Katie and Ramone, at first it’s hard to tell which perspective you’re reading it from. I wish that was done a little differently, but after several chapters I got the hang of it and could hardly tell. Other than that this was a great read and I can’t wait for the next installment!

This is an amazing second book in the Soul Connection collection. Nikki Lynn Barrett really grabbed me in the first book and in this book I was not disappointed. In this book, there is so much detail that held me from the first page until the last page. The characters are fully developed and believable. Logan is the main character who is living with the guilt of his sister’s death. Angel is a lost soul who finds herself in another body trying to figure out what is happening. This story has many twists and turns around every corner. I highly recommend this book to see what happens to Logan and Angel.

Secure Decision (Chase Security Series Book 5)Secure Decision by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fifth book in this series. I enjoyed this book as much as the previous books which I highly suggest reading as they are just as great. This series just keeps getting better and better with each book. This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I am pulled into her stories with ease and kept engaged to the end. This book is no different. This is a well written story that has characters that make the story pop to life. They are relatable and strong. I enjoyed watching the growth with them and they just made the story for me. This is a story about Eleanor and Wes. Eleanor is looking for a new start which is when she takes a position in the Chase Center. What she wasn’t expecting to find is Wes and the attraction she feels for him. What will happen when she is faced with making a decision that could cost her more than her life? This is truly a great story and if made for such a great afternoon read. I highly recommend this book.

Nightfall by TK Lawyer is a well written shifter romance. I enjoyed the fact that with this book we got a slight twist in the usual shifter stories. I think this is the first one I have read where the wolf basically poses as a pet in order to achieve his end goal. I thought I was an interesting way to go about it.
I really enjoyed Josh’s character. I thought he was the exact type of character who makes you want to keep reading. I didn’t connect with Tamara quite as easily but I enjoyed the way they worked together. Overall this I am enjoyable book and one I would recommend to fans of the genre.

I enjoyed this romance comedy story. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from them in the future. This is a well written story that the author used attention to details to give the story a realistic feel. The characters bring the story to life and made the story easy to read. This story is full of emotion including a few laughs mixed into the romance. This is a story about Sanaya leaves India to start a new life and start a family one day. Then you have Leo who is a father of boys. When his son reaches 18 years old, Leo decides to pursue his dream of writing. What neither one of them expects is to find the other and what fate has in store for them. I enjoyed their chemistry and what they brought to the story. Sugar & Spice: Spicetopia written by Phoebe Alexander was so addicting I could not put it down! It follows the rich son of a family friendly theme park owner going undercover- Cy Sweet. He meets The Red Velvet Queen- played by struggling single mom, Jolie Cox.

The writing was so vivid and descriptive that I actually felt as if I was experiencing things they were experiencing. How the characters interacted with each other and their friendships with each other was so natural and easy to believe. I love how well the author portrayed the different upbringings and lives these characters have. It really makes you feel empathetic towards the characters. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more in the series.

Ps. She DEFINITELY brings the Spice to this sweet series (;
