I enjoyed this children’s book. This is a science fiction story that is fun and entertaining to read. I found this book to be fast paced and any child would enjoy reading it. It keeps the reader engaged and pulls them into the story. This is a great story that takes you on an adventure of aliens, two students and a librarian. Their quest is to save the school and the goo from the aliens that invade the school. It is a great read that I highly recommend.

Ember is an orphan who has been isolated but wishes to find others who have FaeBlood. She has to leave when her mother is killed.

Gavyn is a warrior that will protect his town. What happens when Ember stumbles upon the town?

The cover caught my attention and I don’t really many stories involving Fae so I decided to give it a try. The slow burn romance between Gavyn and Ember was well done. And I loved the world building around the small village.

I can’t wait for the next book.

I enjoyed this book. The author created a dynamic world and a really interesting story. As I followed Ember on her journey I found myself rooting for her and hoping that she would get the future she deserved. The story had adventure and intrigue, it kept me entertained throughout the whole book. This author is someone I look forward to seeing more from and to reading the next book in the series.

OKAY. THIS COVER IS GORGEOUS. Now that we are past the cover- let’s dive into this book. I am no stranger to magic and this story was magic in itself. I LOVED learning about the “faeblood.” I enjoyed watching Ember grow into herself- enjoyed SWOONING after Gavyn- and enjoyed learning about the characters along the way! (Jade is my favorite- but I might be biased because we share the name. (; ) This was a beautiful fantasy and I am EAGER to read more in this series- this was so well written and intriguing! There was enough romance to fulfill the romantic in me and enough adventure to keep me on the EDGE of my seat. Read. This. Book. Y’all. You won’t regret it!

Wow! Just wow! The storytelling about Ember is absolutely phenomenal. The author takes extreme care in building the world around you and introducing you to the characters. You meet Ember and you see what she deals with on a daily basis, and then her world is plunged into darkness when her mother is murdered. You want to wrap her up in this safety blanket and take her pain away. Enter Gavyn, he is a complete 180 from Ember. He has created this brotherhood that anyone would be proud of to be in. The stark differences between the two is great, but will they over come their differences when their world is turned upside down??? I can’t wait to read the next book!

The Curse of a Faeblood by MK Lorber – Review by Darla Yocom

The Curse of a FaebloodThe Curse of a Faeblood by M.K. Lorber

Ember finds herself alone, fending for herself and missing her late mother’s company. She’s tired, hungry and bored with running from territory to territory. She’s running from her past and not looking for any distractions but finds herself caught by a tall, brawny man named Gavyn. He’s tall, a bit grumpy and not afraid to call Ember out on her thievery.

Thankfully, the cart owner, Jade whom Ember attempted to steal from, takes pity on her, much to the chagrin of her brother, Gavyn. Jade’s tender and trusting heart took pity on Ember, gave her food, asked her to help in the kitchen to feed their community and allowed her to stay with her for the night. From that day on, Ember’s life changes.

With the struggle of missing her mother, not knowing the identity of her father, and trying to hide her hidden talents, Ember finds herself falling head over heels in love with her surroundings, yet is constantly afraid that her past will catch up with her and her new friends. Should she stay or should she go? That is the question running through her head each day, as she awakes in this beautiful village.

The author paints a gorgeous picture of the village, the surrounding kingdom and the engaging characters. There is a a number of descriptive sex scenes throughout the book which definitely paint a picture for the reader; however, I do think they sometimes take away from the overall tale being told.

I hope the next book will expand on the story and keep the reader intrigued, as this book did.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Phoenix’s Ascent is the second book in the Hera Force Series. This is a wonderfully written Military Romance that had my emotions all over the place. This is a fairly new author to me and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. I truly enjoyed this book and the style of writing along with amazing characters make the perfect read. This is a story about Mitch and Nada. She has a traumatic brain injury that’s affected her memory . She can’t remember anything about him or their relationship.. These two are great together they have great chemistry. Will she ever regain her memory? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for more from this Author.

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy (Book 5) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Amanda Gonzalez

Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After the world Dahlia lived in came crashing in around her, things in the Sentinel have changed drastically. With the threat of not only the apocalypse looming over her, a large portion of her team missing, the issue with the exits and blight, and the constant changes in the city she loves, Dahlia’s focus is split into too many directions. She must fight to save the innocents in the city and find a way to fix the apocalypse – if she can.
I’ve been following this series for what feels like forever, and only yesterday. From day one when we were introduced to the heroine and brought into the incredible life she leads as a supernatural vigilante until now. It’s been a marvelous adventure, full of terror, mystery, hilarious moments, and true emotion. There’s nothing worse than an unsatisfying ending to an amazing story, in my opinion, and Exit Strategy was the perfect final book to end the series on. If you’ve been following this series, you need to read this last book!

Having only picked this book up as a standalone, it took a bit to get into and understand the worlds and creatures, but the author did a fabulous job describing everything for readers who haven’t already gotten into the series.

This book was an epic journey through worlds with creatures who struggle to survive an impending apocalypse. Dahlia and her crew catch up as they fight off invaders on Earth, try to piece together the puzzle of how to save all worlds from collapse, and face numerous battles with those who stand in the way. When Oren starts the apocalypse and then paints himself as earth’s savior while simultaneously working to alter or kill off creatures and humans for his own plans of survival, Dahlia and her team face seemingly impossible odds to stop him and repair the damaged veil that keeps all worlds separated. To make matters worse, she still has to figure out how to actually repair the veil and stop the blight that continues to feed on all of the destruction and violence.

This was a wonderful, original story with great characters and excellent world building.

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 1) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Katie Turner

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns, #1)Flame and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book centers around a mortal named Chloe, the town’s apothecary. She is on a quest to heal many of townspeople of an illness that is quickly spreading, and it is proving to be more difficult of a task than she imagined. As this is unfolding, a fae she knew from her time spent in Faerie has returned to the mortal realm. He demands her help to save Faerie from mortals who are trying to destroy it. Chloe is determined she is not leaving her realm, but eventually she realizes that sometimes things do not go as planned.

I absolutely loved this book! With the author’s writing style and detailed descriptions of the characters and their surroundings, I had no trouble visualizing the story clearly as I read along. It was so well written and everything unfolded at a perfect pace for me. While I do wish I had read the books in the previous series to be able to better piece together certain aspects, it by no means diminished the fact that the story held so much intriguing depth to it. I will definitely be picking up the previous series written of the Faerie realm, and I cannot wait to read the next book as well. Beautiful work, Kay L. Moody!

Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 6)Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another wonderful installment in this series. I did not love it as much as the previous ones simply because Trey isn’t a boss or underboss he is only a brother. So some of the things he did and was privy to in here seemed above his pay grade. I understand that it is a close family but when all the boss’ meet I don’t remember him being there in previous stories. Trey has always come off as a doctor first and it seemed like he only fixed injuries for the Five Families. In this book we get to see another side of him. There is one scene when Trey goes into Protective mode….Me-OW…I loved that scene for two reasons. First I did not think Trey had it in him to go all alpha dominant male and secondly that was so sexy!

As usual and to my delight we get to see a lot of the Boss’ and their women. Especially Sofia as she stands out in this one. We get to see her more in the sister capacity instead of a whirlwind designer and overall tough lady. Very nice!

Overall this is a real good story that I did enjoy and it is a nice add to the overall series. The story has ups and downs and went places I did not think it would. The characters are strong and protective. I look forward to Nico’s as I wonder what problems it will cause with Mia’s family.

Collateral Damage is the sixth book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. This is a brilliant second chance mafia romance- a romantic suspense with an action-packed plot, tension, danger, drama, emotion, intrigue, mafia politics, agendas, high stakes, twists, threats, and sizzling chemistry.
I was so excited that we finally get Trey’s story. And what a story it is… WOW! Another fantastic addition to the series, and it’s getting harder and harder for me to choose a favourite because they are all sooooo good. We have met Trey previously through the series, as he is Sofia (Book #2) and Marco’s (Book #4) brother. His family is ‘the mafia’. But Trey isn’t really involved in the family business on a day to day level as he is a doctor working in a local hospital. But that’s not to say he doesn’t ‘contribute’ when needed. Trey is called on to help out on a kidnapping – and becomes more tangled in the situation than he desired. Especially since he and the kidnapping victim have some serious chemistry. Queue the sparks and sizzle. But danger lurks and things are not quite what they may seem. What happens makes for an exciting read.
So, if you love yourself some fantastic mafia romance, romantic suspense, intensity, danger, and wonderful characters- then you definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story/series!!!
I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #7- “Rivals” which is Nico’s story- it’s bound to be incredible!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

This book is beyond amazing! I have absolutely loved all of the previous books in this series and this one was just as good. I was so excited to read Trey’s story, he’s drawn to Hailey from the very beginning but he wants to keep her safe so he keeps his distance. He might be part of the Mafia but he has a big heart and he loves fiercely. Hailey can’t stop thinking about Trey and when circumstances bring them back together neither can deny their growing feelings. She has been through so much in the past that its hard for her to trust and she tries to keep her walls up but that only works for so long. This book is full of action, heat and romance and some twists and turns that had my mouth literally dropping open! You definitely don’t want to miss this book and the next one in the series can’t come soon enough for me!

Hailey is on the hunt to figure out where her evil stepfather has spent money intended for a children’s wing at the hospital. She and her childhood friend have cooked up a plan to get the money, but it goes south when her stepfather asked Trey La Rosa to get her back. Trey has never liked her stepfather and decides that he will help Hailey get the money back. He wasn’t ready for Hailey Carmichael when they first met at a charity event, but now he’s ready to take his chance.

I love, love, love this series! Another great book by the author. If you haven’t read any of these books I highly encourage you to start. While any of these books can be read as stand alone I would start with book one and read them in order as there are many characters that make appearances and have their own stories.

A second chance mafia romance? Yes please. This is the 6th book in this series, and I highly recommend reading the others. First because they are great, and second because there will be background information that will make your enjoyment of this book that much better. If you read this one without the others, you will still be able to keep up with the story though. Trey is an interesting main character to see, love having a mafia man who is a surgeon and seeing that dynamic play out. Hailey was a bit hesitant at first, but the situations in the book pushed the romance in the right direction and it was absolutely enthralling watching it all play out. Typical for a book from this author to hook you and not let go. Will be looking out for the next.

I cannot say enough great things about this series….I am totally invested and continue to love each book. I recommend reading this series in order as the characters continue to be in each book. This story of Trey and Hailey I loved, and I couldn’t put the book down from beginning to end.

Trey is not only part of the mafia, he is a brilliant surgeon as well. His thoughts consumed by the death of his girlfriend and feels like no one else can break down his walls, until he meets Hailey. Things get a bit out of control when Hailey is kidnapped and Trey will do anything to get Hailey back. As you read more, there is danger, intrigue, lies, blackmail and all wrapped up into some great twists I did not see coming!

Fantastic story and looking forward to the next book of this installment!!

Book six in the series did not disappoint. This was another action packed read that kept you on yours toes. A fast read makes it easy to read in one day, which is good because you will not to put it down. This book we meet Trey, sibling number three of the De Larosa family and the family doctor. He is hired by Allen, who is the director of the hospital, to find his abducted step-daughter Hailey. Instantly, you can tell this is a lost connection between Trey and Hailey and leads you to wanting more. However, life in the Mafia does not make it easy for them. Twists and turns keep you wanting more. Great characters who bring just another great element to the Mafia families. Big tip, due yourself a favor and read the first five books in the series, although the book is fine as a stand alone, many things make more sense when the other books have been read.

They each brought this story to life in different ways and them together is just an all around good time. These can be read in any order but I honestly feel like in the written order is best for a better overall storyline experience. Collateral Damage is a second chance romance in the Mafia Elite series. I loved it from beginning to end. I always wondered if Trey was going to get his very own book since we only see bits and pieces of him in others and he is a well known surgeon that all the ladies want a piece of.
Allen Mitchel is a sneaky little snake. He’s up to no good and his step daughter knows everything. Hailey is about to meet her step father when a man in a ski mask pulls up right outside the hospital and grabs her. Allen reaches out to Trey for help in locating Hailey since there is a very high ransom out on her. Trey knows he can find her with little to no effort and he does just that.
Trey is a damaged soul after losing the love of his life and he is afraid to let any one on because of what had happened. Hailey has been let down by so many people in her life that she just takes it as it is. When Trey gets Hailey they make a plan to expose Allen. Will Allen pay the ransom? Will everyone find out his secrets? What about Hailey’s best friend Justin? This was a great book from beginning to end. I loved Dr Hottie La Rosa! Can’t wait for more from this author.

The author really captured me in her introduction and I couldn’t stop from devouring the book. The way these women, and their stories, were written was eloquent and fantastic. I loved the different strengths each woman had- it was really cool learning about them when the original tales made them secondary characters. Growing up I enjoyed learning mythology- especially Greek- and reading these classics from a woman’s point of view was invigorating! Now I want ALL my favorites written from that same point of view- and by this author!

This Mafia series is one of the best I have ever read. It has the perfect amount of violence, love, strong family ties, drama, and emotion to keep me hooked every time and I really love the inclusion of all the other couples and seeing parts of their stories continue in each new book in this series. Trey has been one of my favorite men in this world. I mean who could resist the sexy doctor who can save a life but also is strong and skilled enough to end the life of anyone who even looks at you wrong?? Definitely not me and that is exactly the type of man Trey is. Now Hailey was a fun character to read and learn about. She clearly has a heart of gold and fits in well with the other wives. I enjoyed how different her story is from many other women in this series yet she still is just as respectable and loveable as the rest of them. She is so smart and lovely she is just what this group needed. I cant wait to see this series continue.

Trey has finally met the one who will bring him to his knees! He thought it was Teresa, he thought her death would end him emotionally. Boy was he wrong. Hailey is the spitfire he never thought he was missing. Her courageous character not backing down from his violent life blew him away. If he were Dark she is definitely Light!
Collateral Damage, book 6 in the Magia Elite series did not disappoint. I think it may have been a tad shorter than the previous books, but still great in its own right. I’m going to be really depressed when book 7 comes out, since I believe that’s the finale.

This is the 6th book in the outstanding Mafia Series by one of my favourite authors. Each book I read by this author just gets better and better. I honestly have loved every book of hers and this book is a fantastic example of her work.
This is a dark mafia romance series. The author has an amazing talent at writing romantic suspense novels that you just don’t want to put down. Like every other book in this series I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and taken on a fantastic journey of drama, intrigue, danger and suspense.
I absolutely adore the characters in these books and I totally fell in love with Trey and Hailey. These alpha men and their badass feisty women are a joy to read and Trey and Hailey fit perfectly into the mix.
I love that we get to see the other couples from previous books and get a snippet of how their lives are progressing together. I really wish this series could go on and on. I know there is one more book coming and I can’t wait to read Nico and Mia’s story.
