Ten Thousand Shells and Counting is a very good read. As you read this memoir, you can actually imagine what the war was like for a teenager. The descriptions of what war is like is very eye opening.

Wow, this book not only brought the steam, but the mystery and suspense kept me reading until the last page. Cassandra and Chandler were so sexy together and the age gap just made it all the hotter. The slow build up and reveal to the mystery. I had never thought of a circus as being a sexy background, but the author did an amazing job. The author created a vivid and descriptive world that our characters live in. This was an amazing start to an explosive series; I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

A Monster for Meg (Giants and Monsters) by Lois Wickstrom

Monsters are scary especially for kids but Meg is blind so she doesn’t know what they look like. Her big sister Sue tries to describe them using her other senses in ways that Meg would understand. Every time Sue would say something, Meg would relate it to the way Sue would do something. It was funny. I think this story is fantastic in the way that it shows children how yo use their other senses. Most people rely on their sight so it was interesting to see how the author described the other senses. Filled with colourful illustrations, this is a book children will definitely enjoy.

Unexpected Entanglement is the third installment of the Echo series. C.R. Alam loves to write heartfelt and steamy love stories that feature characters her readers would root for. Unexpected Entanglement is the story of Rowan and Chris. It is most definitely heartfelt and steamy. And Rowan and Chris are both lovable, relatable, and the type of characters you just can’t get enough of. Alam writes with such emotion the readers feel as if they are alongside the characters on an adventure. The detail in her descriptions allow the reader to feel the heat on their face, feel the flutter in their heart when someone special walks in the room, and smell the scents of all the great food. Some of the characters from previous books return but there are many new characters throughout that bring me to believe there could be a fourth installment to The Echo Series. C.R. Alam has quickly become one of my favorite, go-to authors and I would recommend her books to ANYONE who will stop and listen to me rant and rave about my most recent reads. I will shout it from the rooftop: This is a MUST READ! You won’t want to miss this one. And if you haven’t read the other installments in this series, you won’t want to miss out. Promise!

A Curse of Ash and Iron by Christine Norris

I love historical fiction; while this book was a bit different from your normal historical fiction, it was a lot of fun to read! The book takes place in 1876 and is like a reimagined CInderella story, complete with a wicked stepmother. Ellie’s mom died, then her dad married Olivia. Olivia has somehow made everyone forget who Ellie is, even her dad doesn’t know who she is. Ellie is forced to live as a maid taking care of her stepmother and stepsister. She sees her childhood friend, Ben, and he knows who she is. Ellie is relieved to have someone in her court. Ellie and Ben go on several adventures as they try to break the curse and hold over Ellie. One of my favorite parts was them seeing the arm of the Statue of Liberty before she was built. I really enjoyed the historical aspects that were thrown in. Overall a great book worth the time and money!

I knew this book was going to be emotional when I started reading it. From the moment you start reading you really get a sense for this character. Her story, her journey, is incredible and even though it isn’t something the reader has experienced it is easy to imagine the life being lived. The book creates a vivid picture of what the author has lived through and it really makes you respect her experience. I thought this book was really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
Fiddle and Fire: A Steamy Historical MMF Romance by Ariella Talix

This is the first historical romance I have read that is MFM. I think I enjoyed this book more because of it as it seem to add another edge to the story. This book is certainly all about the characters. I was never really just about Suzette. The guys had just a big a par to play with their individual relationship, which I thought was unique for this kind of story.
I thought the overall storyline was really well developed. I engaged with it quickly and looked forward to seeing what was going to happen. This is a new author to me and I am glad this is the first book I have read. I am excited to discover more of her work.

This book is a Cinderella meets steampunk in the 1800’s setting. At first, it’s not easy to pick up the fairy-tale vibe but it eventually plays out.
Benjamin Grimm is a stagehand and an inspiring inventor. He also works in his mom’s bookshop along with the rest of the family. He’s never known wealth but has big dreams of one day inventing something that will change everything for his family.
Eleanor Banneker grew up in a life of priviledge. At a young age, she lost her mother and all of a sudden, her governess is becoming her step-mother. Everything changes and Eleanor loses her social standing and the life she once knew. That’s not all she lost though.
I enjoyed this story even though it’s a retelling of the popular fairy tale. I love the steampunk elements thrown in throughout. I found it to be a very enjoyable read on a rainy afternoon!
Brave Kids: Short Stories to Inspire Our Future World-Changers by K.J. Kaschula

This is such a wonderful selection of short stories and I really enjoyed them all. It was great to read a few familiar authors and also find some new ones. Each story in this anthology covers a different topic so there’s definitely something for all types of children in this book. it covers topics such as bullying, phobias. I loved that each story tried to remind us that although we may be sad, suffering or afraid we are all brave.
One of the stories I loved was Tonight it the Night by K J KaSchula I read this with my little boy as we try to get him to go into his own bed by himself. It was a really cute read!
Another story I really enjoyed was Amaleigha Tames a Bully: Kindness Can Change a Hard Heart by Janice Pratt – having read about Amaleigha before I loved that she featured in a story in this anthology. She is such a wise one for such a young age! I love reading and sharing her stories with my little boy.

When I first read the synopsis for this book I was so intrigued it sounded like nothing I had read before and I am so glad that I decided to give it a go. It was such a great read and so refreshing to read something a little bit different. The authors attention to detail made it feel like I was right there watching these characters, she made it so easy to imagine exactly what was happening in the story. I loved the forbidden side of the story and also the twists with how the characters’ lives were intertwined. The suspense that ran through the story kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I am really excited to see where the author takes this story in book 2!
Cecily in the City by Krysten Lindsay Hager

I enjoyed the third book in this series, it was a quick easy read and had a good storyline. I still really like the character Cecily and think that she could be quite relatable for the young adult audience that is the target reader group for this book. The characters were really well written and I could really feel some of the anxieties that Cecily in particularly went through. I think having followed Cecily’s story through the first two books I really feel like I’ve been on this journey with her. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next for Cecily in book 4!
Reaper by Bianca Lee Ward

Oh my goodness! This is one of the best MC books I’ve read this year. I’m going to rank it up there with my favorites, D.M. Earl and Manda Mallet. It’s a cleaner version of them and so dang good. I can’t tell you much because I feel it would be spoiler. I can tell you that the characters are outstanding. Reaper and Ava are so relatable. Ava goes through hell. The plot is fantastic and you just can’t put it down once you start. I had to read it straight through. It just grabs you. There is drama, romance and suspense. A definite must read. I’ll be eagerly awaiting book 2.
Where Fire Meets Flame by Elena Kincaid

This book is about Riley Scott who is a private detective. She mainly catches cheating spouses so she isn’t looking for love in her life. She meets Tristan Cain at a coffee shop and immediately they are Both attracted to eachother but neither lets their feelings known. However Tristan goes out of his way on his days off to go back to that same coffee shop in hopes of running into her again and again. When Riley’s coworker sets her up on a blind date, it’s one of the firefighters who Tristan is close with so he and Riley get to talking and get to know eachother better. Tristan is a firefighter and rescues her when she needs it. Seeing Riley again after so long, he thinks he’s seen a ghost and then it all makes sense. This book was a great short read. Wish it was longer.

This was a quick read for me. It was a good story with a moving plot. There were a lot of connectable themes for the reader. I thought that Cecily was a well designed character and enjoyed seeing her handle what life was throwing. I would read more by this author.

Yeti Left Home by Aaron Rosenberg. This is such a original story about a Yeti aka Wylie that lives in the woods and minds his own business. He has friends and a home but he soon has to leave because there has been a murder and people are starting to snoop around trying to find the killer. Moving to a new town and starting over is hard for anyone but for a Wylie trying to fit in is really hard. Where he has moved to is the city and he’s not used to that as well as all the people. While there he finds lots of other supernatural characters and friends. The problem is Wylie thinks the murderer has followed him because murders are starting to happen in his new town. Can Wylie find him before any more people die or worse before he finds Wylie Fun and lighthearted this book is a joy to read. Something different and new.
A Spot of Earl Slay by Aubrey Elle

I fell in love instantly. There’s a murder, obviously, but this whole story just kept me in a good mood. I love starting over in a new town trope, and I’m honestly glad we didn’t have a lot of stress in the story from the ex-husband. The characters all had different personalities that fit so well together, my favorite are Barbra and Ingrid. I want to be these ladies when I’m older. The mystery was great, you learn about some of the people in town which leads you guessing who is our murderer. I honestly wasn’t even thinking of this person at the end, so it was nice to see I was wrong. In the book our main character speaks of a tv show which I believe is a great way of describing the book: “Great for slapstick humor and easy on the stressed mind.” The story isn’t all laughs but there are some funny moments that I think all readers will enjoy. A great book to read if you’re looking to get into Cozy Mysteries.

A Spot of Earl Slay (Tea Time Troubles Book 1) by Aubrey Elle. This is such a fun read. I can’t wait to read the next one. This is the story of Naomi and her teenage daughter Ella who have moved to Fayette a small town to get away from their family drama. When they arrive to move into their house they find a dead body in their storage shed. Everyone comes to their house to find out what is going on and when they find out the victim is the town gossip most people are not too sad. When more bodies start turning up Naomi gets worried because along with neighbors Ella has become very interested in the investigation. With all the drama Naomi’s ex is making trouble for her again. All she wanted was to move to a small quiet town and this has been anything but. Read this cozy mystery filled with murder and mystery. You won’t be disappointed.

Riley and Tristan keep crossing paths. Riley is a Private Investigator who finds herself in a rescue situation. One in which Tristan will be her knight in shining armor.
Tristan with a crazy ex tried multiple times to get Riley out of the picture. When this is discovered while Tristan is keeping himself and Riley safe while waiting to be rescued they take precautions and hole up together.
This leads to a fall in head over heels in love in a 48 hours type of scenario. Then the crazy ex shows back up and threatens the fairy tale ending for Tristan and Riley.
Will they survive the crazy ex again? There are some crazy people in the world that will go to great lengths for the one they love and this book makes you think about that! I found myself wanting more story and not wanting it to end.
A Monster for Meg by Lois Wickstrom

This might be one of my favorite books by this author. I loved watching Sue explain to Meg why monsters were scary, and the Meg come back basically showing Sue that her and monsters were similar in some aspects. The art is beautiful, and the way Sue describes everything for her blind sister is a great way to show kids how to help when talking with someone who is blind.

In this kind of Novel, I love when the character feels like the happy ending is at the beginning of the story. I thought that too when I read the part about Lauren falling in Love with Mitch at six years old. I was like aww that is cute but that really never happens, does it?
But like any other story fairy tales only last for a while especially for Lauren and Mitch. I truly did not like how Mitch can do that to her. Treating her like a queen and then like nothing. I am glad that Lauren kept on going and not letting Mitch ruin her, but that is what I thought.
Poor Lauren towards more at the end of the story reality hits harder for Lauren when her hard-working restaurant went down in flames and her marriage. I never thought that I can feel her pain until that happened to her, letting her emotions take the best of her into gabbling her life away.
An amazing story that I would recommend to anyone but start with the 1st book. The author did an amazing job, it kept my eyes watery for most of it.

This picture book will have your kids asking you to read it over and over again. This is my new favorite by Lois Wickstrom. The way she describes the monster but finds a way to compare it is brilliant. The story is out of the box and shows you an insight on how to see things in different perspectives. I recommended to several parents I know already!

Every story gives a new hidden characteristic that most children don’t realize. Everyone should be told how brave they are especially children.
The Guardian of Whispers by B.E. Padgett

The book had me hooked from the first chapter. It was an enjoyable read that keeps your interest from start to finish. The characters are thought out and easy to connect with. It has adventure, action, and plot twists. I cannot wait to continue on in this series!
This is the first book in The Reeds of West Hills series. It follows twins Frank and Jon as they gain unique powers in fifth grade. Frank can read minds while Jon can see the future. Unable to control their powers the boys are sent to a boarding school that will assist them in learning to use their powers. However, this move isn’t going as planned when Jon becomes the one blamed for a dangerous relic going missing. Frank, friends, and a grump teacher must hurry to clear his name before Jon gets expelled. Does Jon get expelled? Pick up the book and find out!
Stay For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson

Garrett has managed the biggest Rock band for almost ten years, but over the past few years he has done things he is not proud of which has made his trust with the band shaky at times but he excuses have always been for the good of the band. Garrett has loved the lifestyle and enjoys the single, young guy status but Garrett has had his regrets and one was the woman he left behind all those years ago to manage the band, but he has never really loved anyone else but her.
Olivia is at the top of her career, getting the gig of directing the Grammy’s is a once in a lifetime thing and she has to pinch herself, the only thing is she will see the man who walked out on her ten years ago and took her heart with him, choosing a group of young rock stars instead of her, hurts more than he will ever know. But, when Olivia gets a request to direct the new video for Balefire is he prepare to see Garrett and will all the old feelings come back. She has learnt to hide things can she hide the love still burning in her heart for this man.
OMG, I am not the biggest Garret fan but I loved this story of love and lost and the fairy-tale that can come true. Did he deserve to get Olivia back into his life, NO but to be fair the more I read of the book the more I actually warmed to Garrett and you get to understand the reasons behind all the things he did. I loved the characters of Olivia with her sassy, kick ass side to her but underneath all the glamour and armour still was still that lost girl hurt by the love of her life.
This was a brilliant well paced and written story, which if you have not read the series from the start can be read as a stand alone story but I recommend reading the whole series as you get the full view of Garrett and what he has done and how everything fits in. The relationship between him and the band in the end was lovely to read and how they understood his sacrifices that he took at the beginning and was a great end to the story.
Thank you for a brilliant series and a fitting ending to this series and pulling Garrett out of the idiot section to the AHHH section.

He gets an apology and decides to forgive- leading to a new, more confident outlook. Cute.
–Courage Blooms: Baby’s Arrival Brings a Lesson in Love and Change

A great little story about love, grief, and coping and dealing with loss. How talking about it can really help and you don’t have to bottle it up. The memory box idea is wonderful.

Through a little adventure on a family hike through the mountains, this quirky interesting story teaches breath therapy. A strategy for dealing with all kinds of stressful situations. A great lesson for both the young, and old, alike.

I have loved little Amaleigha since meeting her in ‘Amaleigha and the Big Idea’ and ‘Amaleigha Loves a Good Story. She might only be six, but she has a wise head on her young shoulders. She’s not only helpful but is also a great little problem solver. Here, Amaleigha and her classmates find a way to dela with a bully: “Kill them with kindness”. Does their strategy work. You really should read this sweet little story for yourself to find out whether their plan works. Definitely one of my favourites from the collection.

Marie has just discovered that her father has passed away- and she isn’t coping well with the news. But then a simple feather changes everything. A moving story about dealing with the death of a parent. Coping with grief and overwhelming emotions. And finding healing.

But this story teaches us that everyone is unique and to embrace our differences and get out of ‘the box’ we’ve been in. Be true to ourselves by accepting our differences and seeing them as what makes us unique. A lovely little story.
–The Body’s Secret Superpower By: Mair Lemus
A magical little story with lessons from mother earth when Ana has trouble fitting in at her new school. She is sad and it is affecting every aspect of her life. A walk in the forest changes things and gives her a new perspective. Another of my favourites from this collection.
–The Magic Inside: Uncovering the Superhero Within By: Lorie Weed
A great little tale that follows Alan on an adventure when he has to take a bus trip. It teaches coping skills and how everyone has a superhero within them. Sweet and fun.
–Caroline Can Do Hard Things: Courage for the Tough Times By: Meredith Speir
Caroline’s world is a bit off-kilter since her parents recent divorce. The first day of school arrives and her friends won’t be in the same class. She is worried about how it will go. Plus, she’s missing her dad and having him there like normal. Her mother showers her with extra love, and Caroline’s first day of third grade, although stressful, turns out to be quite fun. Through the story we are taught that feelings are ok and normal- and shows that we CAN do hard things. An adorable little story that makes it to my favourites list.
–Operation Mind-Shift, Commence!!: Kole’s Hero’s Journey Into the Unknown

An enjoyable story that follows Kole as he faces the unknown and deals with fear. Especially the fear of making a presentation in front of the whole class. How does he cope? What happens when it comes time to make his talk? You really should read all the interesting developments for yourself- it is definitely worth the read.

Aaron has a great friend in Asa- we could all do with such a caring friend. This story is cute, and inspiring. All about loving ourselves just the way we are. It made it to my favourites list, too.

“You see, you can change how you feel about things simply by thinking about them differently. By having a change of heart!”
When Chan is called to the principal’s office his mind goes wild, expecting the worst. The story shows that we can change how something affects us, or stresses us, just by changing the way we see the situation. Great strategy to learn.

A heartwarming little story full of wonderful memories. Teaching healing through movement/dance. This sweet story was full of emotion and inspiration.

As you can see, there is plenty here to inspire- as well as a few illustrations to help build interest …. so, if your future world-changer could do with some inspiring and helpful strategies, then this is definitely a book you will want to have on your bookshelf.

Hot For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson

Adam Tron is part of the biggest rock band of the century and as such can have his choice of woman but as his friends in the band are slowly finding there futures he is feeling a bit lost at the moment. Although he has a plan that hopefully will bringing with the woman who has dreamed about for a while now but never approach.
Christy Valor has overcome a lot in her life to get to the heights of the Pop world, so when one of the hottest Rock bands asks her to come and tour for some of there dates she jumps at the chance, although full of sass and seduction she is really looking forward to Tron, his bass speaks to her and if his music anything to go by he would be a brilliant lover, a bit of fun for the tour.
Although they strike up a relationship on the road, Adam feels like there is a secret with Christy that she is not comfortable sharing, yet. But, we need to get through Adam’s manager and Christy’s Manager who seem it is there right to sabotage the relationship from the beginning.
This is the first book I have read in this series and it can be read as a stand alone book, but I am determine to see how each of the other band members find there awesome women. This story is full of pace and you delve straight into the action from the first chapter.
I love the characters of Adam and Christy, as they gel well together and the chemistry which sparks of the age makes you want to keep turning the page to see where the story takes you. There are also great secondary characters with the sense of a family with the band comes off the page and you get the feeling of care and protection from them. I have to say I could have crawled into book and punched the manager Garrett but in the end you do have a sense of sadness for him but not much, Lol.
I can’t wait to read the next book and the books before this ones, as you have made a fan of me.

• Cecily in the City is the third book in The Cecily Taylor Series. This is a YA Contemporary Romance that will have you turning the pages trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This maybe directed more towards teen to young adults but in my opinion anyone of any age can enjoy this story. Tbis authors style of writing and her amazing characters make for a wonderful story. Her characters are well developed and very easily relatable. I felt like I could imagine every scene as if I were there. Cecily can’t imagine her life getting any better after she’s moved to the city and landed a dream position on a daytime soap opera. She’s very excited to be in the same town as her pop star boyfriend. Rumors get started shortly after she stars in another singers music video. Lots of drama behind the scenes. She just wants to be happy with Andrew. Soon she will find out life is much different in the spotlight.. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This was an inner-dialogue story of a young girl experiencing autism. I really enjoyed reading this book. Often times, when an autistic child is like Emerson and cannot communicate with those around her, knowing their inner feelings is hard. This book is an inside look at many different experiences that many different people have, not just autistic children. In this book, Emerson experiences not being able to get the correct words to come out of her mouth, becoming frustrated over not being able to communicate, feeling like an outsider when around children not like her, feeling like she needs to get up and move, sensory sensitive, and many other aspects of mental disorders. This book really brings to light how difficult this can be for autistic children and how much they care even if they can’t show it in a way people expect everybody too.
