A really well written novella and prequel to the Echo series by CR Alam, I have read and enjoyed the Echo Series and was intrigued to see if the prequel could answer some of the early character development questions, and as well as a good novella it does roll easily into the series. The characters continue to grow and world development is interesting.<br />We meet tired worn out doctor Gene and his return home, where he meets and treats Amanda, both then find they have feelings for the other but are trying to stay impartial for a bit, but small town gossip and rumours as well as developing feelings and mystery pull you along as you root for them to become more than doctor and patient. <br />

This is the second book in the Finnerty and Liccione Mystery series. While the books can be read as a stand alone I do recommend reading them in order to get a better grip of the characters and their pasts.
This is a medical murder mystery with twists and turns that keep you guessing with every turn of the page. I never knew what was coming and I was surprised as the story unravelled.
The author does a great job of handling subjects such as PTSD and addiction in the story in a way that is informative and respectful. Allowing the reader an insight into what that is really like for the people suffering.
When a young veteran is found dead in his car in the garage of the VA Behavioral Health clinic the question becoming was it murder or suicide?
When Dr. Marnie Liccione and Dr. Louise Finnerty join forces again to get to the truth they start to uncover things which could have dangerous consequences for them both. With a dangerous drug doing the rounds and drug ring operating could this be the cause of the deaths/suicides of so many veterans? And can they get to the bottom of this before another life is lost?
With danger, threats, and race against time this is a fast paced story that I couldn’t stop reading

This is book number one in the medical mystery series. I thought it was very well written and interesting. In this story, two Doctors must figure out how their doctor friend was murdered. Their friend, Dr Gen, was investigating an illness that started from mosquitos. It turns out, she was into something that people didn’t want her to be in. Her friends, must be careful as they try to figure out who did it. I love that this was written by real life doctors. The details and descriptions are top notch.

The start of the book was a bit confusing. It did get easier to understand  as the characters were explained and their general lives were expanded on. It was a very complex medical thriller. It was a very gripping “who-done-it” while they determined if it was murder or suicide.

Just knowing what the veterans go through as they are reintegrated into society after serving and the various levels of PTSD is gut-wrenching. I felt like it gave the audience real-world explanation of what military personnel go through.

I thought this was a good book for the kiddos. It explains what happens when you get hurt and need a bandaid to keep it covered. The kids didn’t enjoy this one as much as others but the older one sat and listened while I read the whole book. Short and great colorful photos

We definitely chuckled reading this book. If you want to know how many animals eat their PB&J, this book is for you. Khloe is 4 and she loved the colorful pictures. As the adult, I loved the rhyming and showing her all the different animals. She giggled at a few and I think the lizard was her favorite. I think this one will be in our weekly rotation that she asked me to read. I’ve read it 3 times already for her.

The Rack was impossible to put down, so I finished it in one day. It starts with Margot Keating going to London to find out her relation to the duke. She is instead met with the murder of the duke who sends her on the trail of the mystery of the family’s hidden diamonds. On the same night, she walks into an orgy thrown by the next-door neighbor, Langley, who is the biggest rack in London. Margot now sets off to find the diamonds and the dukes’ murderer with the least likely help, Langley. Things only get better from here so be prepared for a slow build with satisfying spice. I loved Margot’s character due to how strong and independent she is, she doesn’t believe that she needs a man in her life. Can she be the one to tame this rack? I can’t wait to pick up the next book, The Duke, because it ends on a cliffhanger. This will not be the last book I read by Ava Bond!

The School of Nine was a perfect Novella for any YA reader. Bianca is a Muse in training that is attending Brightling Academy. She trips in Poise class one day to be met with Sebastian, the first male to attend the academy in decades, since Muses are typically female. Once Bianca and Sebastian realize that the signs are appearing signaling the end of the Muses power, they must do everything they to find a way to stop it from happening. I loved the premise of the story with a school full of muses to bring inspiration to ordinary human artists. They bring good things into the world and make the world a better place. The love interest is wholesome. Amanda Marin does an amazing job giving significant detail to the world even with a short number of pages. I look forward to reading A Song of Salt and Secrets next.

A Song of Salt and Secrets is the second Novella in The Mythic Academy Collection. This book takes place in the same world as The School of Nine. The main character this time is Corisande who is a Siren studying at Magwitch Academy, a boarding school by the sea. Sirens are cured with a song of salt that lures unexpected sailors to their deaths. Corisande accidentally sings to Noah causing him to crash on the shore, he is injured but alive. What will happen to Corisande and Noah now that he has heard the sirens song? The world building and character development is fantastic considering that it is a novella. The details within the book are enough to hook you in. It is a nice twist on myths about the supernatural. The romance is clean. Overall, the book is a fun and short read.

This book is wow! This is a romantic suspense with some kick-ass that will leave you in awe. Arrow and Vivian are two people that want to fight the attraction as they have different focus. They will eventually come together to rescue a little one in trouble. The action is palpable and the romance is great. I love this author’s writing. This is a fantastic series that often leaves me feeling that I’ve just been on a wild ride. These are some fantastic characters that will take you for a ride as they are on their mission. I can’t get enough of this series.

I love the dedication in the book: To anyone who doesn’t have life all figured out. Neither do I. Let’s enjoy the journey anyway.”
This is such a great story for kids ages 10 and up, (even adults). Amese is 13 and I like that her personality showed her young but also mature when she needed to. I love that there is different magic in this story, we get to meet some other characters who are with earth, water, and air. Amese’s village is all about connecting with animals. I liked the lessons Amese has received with each animal, and I love that they have helped her start to find herself. It’s also pretty cool that she gets a marking of the animal (like a tattoo) after the lesson. Overall I feel if you love fantasy or want to introduce your kids into fantasy this is a great book to read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Breaking Apart is book two in the Finnerty and Liccione Series by the powerful duo Wanda Venters and Mary Rae. I dove right into this immediately after finishing book one, and finished this one almost entirely in one sitting. This one can be read as a stand-alone, however be warned, it does contain spoilers for book one if you haven’t read it yet. I adored the way these two authors are not afraid to write about the harsher, real topics that most authors don’t. I have definitely fallen in love with this authors and cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us!

Definitely looking forward to book two and finding more work from these authors!

Vivian and Arrow’s story is one about love and reclaiming yourself after trauma. Vivian had one traumatic incident that changed her life while Arrow had lived his trauma for many years. When they found each other, it was intense and fast.

Vivian had moved to Providence to search for a young girl possibly taken by a memory Vivian didn’t want to remember. But Vivian not only had to face the memory but everything that went along with it to help save this girl. Arrow was willing to help but Vivian had to let him in.

As Arrow and Vivian grew closer, they were able to find the missing pieces of the puzzle to save the young girl. This also led to finding more people willing to help Arrow and his boys on their mission to destroy the international criminal organization, Trogyn. As Arrow and his boys continue to dismantle Trogyn, they face bigger and more powerful danger. As they gather allies, the battle doesn’t look as daunting.

Another stellar episode in the series! This one goes along all smooth and then BAM!!! Drama, intrigue, exploding teeth, and excitement. Hold onto your Kindle because you never know what is around the next corner!!

Well this was my first story from the author and as a fan of historical fiction, this book did not disappoint! I will definitely be checking out her other series and waiting for the next book in the series to come out! Margot is a wonderful heroine and I loved how strong willed she is, despite her station in life. She is trying to stay under the radar, but when her birth father she just met is murdered and a piece of a treasure map stolen, she immediately jumps into action. She accidentally meets the Earl of Langley, when she follows the killer into his house, interrupting his naughty time. She immediately stays calm, despite her attraction to him, which attracts him to her. He agrees to help her on her hunt for the killer and the map. The author writes a really well written historical romance with characters you will fall in love with and some really fun twists and turns with the mystery. I can’t wait for the next one!

I absolutely loved this book. It took a bit for me to get into it, but once I was, I loved it. I’m not normally a mystery type person, but this book is so good at sucking the reader in while the FMC tries to navigate the hand she’s been dealt. Absolute 10/10- and I highly recommend!! I‘ll be sure to check out other books by the author as well!

Just like the rest of the books that I have read by Lois Wickstrom, this one as well does not disappoint. Always a fun story with wonderful illustrations. This one about the healing of a scraped knee. The fun jingle-ish type rhythm and the more technical explanations on the same page help kids of all ages learn about how wounds heal. Great story !

Mealtime at the Zoo: PB&J Cafe is an adorable and fun children’s book. I read it with my 8 year old, which is beyond the suggested age, but he still enjoyed it. He giggled at a couple of the pages and loved looking at the drawings. It would be a good beginning reader, as well as read to children by their teachers or parents. The rhyming is always fun, and my son learned two new animals- he didn’t know what an aardvark or shrew were, so we looked them up after finishing the story. He had fun comparing the real life animal picture to the illustration. The book is very creative and cute, imagining all the ways different animals might enjoy their pb&J.

I love love love this series. I really thought it was going to end with book 5, The Strategist. So I can’t tell you how happy I am to find out there will be more! I’ve been hooked since book 1. These are books you could read as a standalone novel, but they work and flow so much better in succession. The Strategist is Arrow’s story. And being there were originally 5 friends creating the WaterFyre rising video there’s been more characters introduced to take the story further.
Arrow and Vivivan dance around one another. He wants her. She wants him but not enough to give him a chance. She’s been through some trauma’s in her life, which is why she keeps her heart closed off. However she’s on a mission to find her friend’s daughter who went missing 9 months ago. What she doesn’t realize is her mission is going to intersect Arrow and his friends’ journey to take down The Trogyn organization. Forcing them to work together. Working together works best when trust is involved. However with their rough childhoods one might not believe it’s possible.
Can they both let down their walls to trust one another?
Will Vivivan finally give into the feelings she has for Arrow?
Can two broken souls mend each other?
Just like all the other books in this series. There’s romance with a little action and adventure thrown in. Stubborn characters who care mightily for those in their circle. A group of friends do thick; they are hesitant about letting new members in. Yet they embrace everyone’s family as if it were their own.
I can’t wait for book 6. Till then I’m contemplating about starting the series over. It’s all worth it! If you haven’t started it, go back to book 1. And if you have what are you waiting for book 5 is out!!!

Under the Bandage is a fun kid book that teaches them about germs and the healing process when they get a cut. We are big fans of this author and enjoy the rhyming stories and colorful illustrations. I like that it had little fun facts added to each page to explain the story and it’s accurate terms of what is happening. My son liked the book because he just learned about cells and antibodies at school recently. I think this book would be enjoyable to younger elementary school kiddos and would be good to add to a lesson plan about first aid and keeping cuts clean.

When I first read the synopsis for Just Ducky, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, C. A. King is an author that I won’t hesitate to read so I dove right in. What an unexpected, well-written, original, shifter romance. There is drama, adventure, and a bit of motherly intuition and meddling. Ducky (aptly named due to her fuzzy, two-legged, web-footed alter ego) finds herself in the midst of conflict between humans and shifters. This is where she meets Lord Kobreon and his mother, Trishia. C. A. King’s characters are so interesting, entertaining, and unique! The world building in this book is great. I could see the opulence of the human kingdom, feel the greed of the human general, and the connection between Ducky and Kobreon. Overall, a quick, entertaining read that I would recommend for anyone who enjoys a touch of the peculiar.

What another wonderful book in this series! The story is very intricate! I love all the criss cross story lines and characters. I struggled to out this intriguing one down. While Arrow is great I really love Vivian. She is one strong, smart and a woman who takes no bull. Yes she has had a hard life but she has grown and changed from it. Her resilience is what all women aspire for. I really enjoyed her story. We meet some new characters and see older ones.

I thought this would be the last book but nope! So I look forward to the next!

Another great medical mystery author!

I love that this is written by a doctor who uses correct terminologies and has a first hand knowledge of how the medical field works. You will feel like you’re part of the story as you read about Marnie and Louise and their quest to find out what happened to their friend and colleague Gen.

Prepare to read this one in one or two settings because you won’t be able to put it down!

I love a good medical thriller and this one did not disappoint!

Marnie finds one of her clients, a veteran, while on her shift. It’s not immediately clear if this is the result of a suicide or something more sinister. Marnie and her co-workers are conducting trials on PTSD with the veterans and now have growing concerns for the rest of the clients.

This is very well done and is the second book in the series. I strongly recommend reading them both but make sure you set aside ample time because you won’t want to put this down!

Master Oradea is Book 10 in the Masters of the Consulate series and one of my favorite series’….its a series I cannot get enough. I was very excited to dive right in to Master Oradea’s story and boy it did not disappoint. Although you can read each book as a standalone..please do yourself a favor and start from the beginning….being part of a world of vampires, witches, shifters, fated mates and sizzling chemistry. I love each book in this series and it continues to get better and better.

Master Oradea and the rest of The Master are still in search to hunt down the notorious, Lucas, who is rogue and dangerous. When Natalia and Oradea meet..the instant chemistry is undeniable….what Oradea does not originally plan for is having to saving the beautiful, Natalia, in the hands of the rogue vampires..especially the danger it entails…but with danger in every turn and who do you trust…will Oradea be able to keep Natalia safe….

Definitely read and find out…I am anxiously waiting on Master Bistrita’s story!!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m glad I took a chance on it. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and ability to draw me into the story. I became invested in the outcome of the characters as I read this book. This book covers a sensitive subject and the author brought it to life in a very thought provoking way. Barbara is a strong, independent, lawyer whose life changes dramatically. It all starts when she catches her fiancé cheating. She gifts her destination wedding to her best friend, this is where she meets sebastian. Sebastian is a fellow lawyer and the chemistry between these two is off the charts. They are both looking forward to their new jobs, hers is a promotion and his is a new company. When they get back to New York they find out that he got the job she thought she was getting. It makes things very difficult for them. The story gets better from this point. I don’t want to give anything else away so I’m going to say grab this book and start reading to find out what happens. This was a good read.
