The co-authors of this murder-mystery are MDs, so it only makes sense that it is so well-written that I had white knuckles gripping it while my eyes soaked it in. The main characters are Dr. Louise Finnerty and Dr. Marnie Liccione, an emergency medicine physician and pediatrician respectively. These lead female characters are strong, well-rounded, intelligent, and pretty awesome. In this first installment, when their friend dies, Finnerty and Liccione set out to figure out just how it happened. This story involves intriguing conspiracies and is very relevant to the things we face in real-life these days. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get lost in a good, gripping, interesting read that also makes you think.

This is the second installment of the Finnerty and Liccione series, and believe me when I tell you I almost cried when it was over. I wanted it to last much longer. Again, these co-authors turned out a story that is so well-written and intriguing that it is SO HARD to put down and deal with the responsibilities of normal life. In this book, Drs Finnerty and Liccione once again set out to figure out a mysterious death – this time of a veteran. Like the first book, this one is full of real-life problems that many face every day. I am hoping there is a third book to this series and highly recommend this and the first to anyone wanting to get lost in a good story.

Kris and the Cowboys is the third book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. This is a fun and intriguing instalment in this children’s (beginner) chapter book series- aimed at children aged 6 – 10 years…. Mr. Blegen always manages to come up with fun, new adventures for Kris to get swept into- and this one finds her on a cattle drive that will challenge her along the way. It’s a wonderfully vivid story which is easy to understand, and easy to read. Another well written, and imaginative story which is accompanied by some small (B + W) illustrations (heading up each chapter) that also help to bring the story to life. Kris’s love of reading, along with her very vivid imagination means that she finds an ‘adventure’ wherever she goes. This story starts with her father dropping her off at Uncle Buddy’s ranch where Kris learns to ride a horse, and learns about a ‘working’ ranch and ranch life. When Uncle Buddy sets off on a cattle drive, Kris is determined to tag along- but Uncle Buddy doesn’t think she’s experienced enough just yet. But, Kris finds her own way of getting on a cattle drive- and is soon swept into an adventure with mystery, high stakes, rustlers, a missing cow, Indians, a hungry mountain lion, a flash flood that sweeps through the canyon they are travelling through, danger, dramatic developments, challenges, thinking ‘on your feet’, overcoming obstacles, a rescue, new friendships, family, and more. What happens makes for a great little read. Each instalment in the series could be read as a standalone, as each has its own fully contained adventure, starring Kris. So there’s absolutely no worry that you might end up feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything that occurred in the previous books which might affect this story. But, having said that, Kris finds herself in lots of interesting situations that results in fun adventures- which you will definitely want to be part of…. Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Sylvie Stewart and Marika Ray is the second book in the Hot Flash Hookups series. I absolutely loved the first book. But the second one did not disappoint. This is one of the best series I have read in a long time. I love the more mature main characters. It makes the story so much more relatable. If you like Hockey romance but our tired of young 20 something FMC’s look no further. Another 5 out 5 stars from me!

The Strategist is the fifth book in the fantastic ‘WaterFyre Rising’ series by Nadia Han. I have been captivated by this series right from the beginning, since first devouring The Mastermind- and this book certainly lived up to expectation. Ms. Han certainly knows how to weave an enticing story, the way she has deftly woven each book, focusing each instalment on its own particular ‘couple’, but also building a gripping, overarching storyline that wends its way through the series- building on what has come before, and instalment by instalment, painting a much bigger and more intriguing picture/story. ‘The Strategist’ is an engrossing contemporary romantic suspense with a former Navy SEAL, a bit of a billionaire romance element, intrigue, dramatic developments, danger, chemistry, sizzle, angst, tension, secrets, forced proximity, emotion, family, friendship, intensity, mystery, violence, action, the Triad, sinister enemies, agendas, evil bad guys, a powerful criminal organisation, trauma, pain, hope, healing, a dynamic & multilayered storyline, and superb characters (& more). This is Arrow Holt and Vivian Vo’s story- whom we have both met in previous books, as Arrow has been an integral part of the Waterfyre family since the beginning, and Vivian is friends with the Waterfyre women. Vivian has huge secrets that have shaped who she is and the path her life has taken. She is haunted by the past and has trouble trusting, building a wall around her heart in the process. Arrow had pursued her in the past, but she had rejected him as her plans don’t include love and romance. But she is drawn to him, and running into him at a wine expo only fans the embers of attraction into flames. Arrow has his own scars and memories that haunt him, but Vivian seems to have a way of soothing his demons- and Arrow wants more. He is a brilliant entrepreneur whose strategies have made him a formidable opponent- and extremely rich in the process…. As mentioned, even though each book has its own couple and storyline, all the books combined help to build a much bigger picture, providing morsels of information on the other recurring characters, the backstories, overarching storyline, and all the intriguing Waterfyre details. The whole Waterfyre element is what really hooked me into the series in the first place, and that combined with the exciting storylines, help to make this series stand out from the crowd. The story was a little slow to build momentum, to begin with – but as the story progressed, and after only a few chapters, the pace really picked up, the intrigue kicked in, and the story completely captured me and had me gripped tightly all the way till the end. I read the whole thing in one sitting, as I needed to know how everything would play out in the end. I loved meeting the intriguing new characters who have joined the Waterfyre family and can’t wait to read their story (Coming in Book #6 – ‘The Protégé’ – which is set to be amazing!). Happy Reading!

Under the Bandage is a fun children’s story by Lois Wickstrom. The story has an educational component, as it helps to explain our bodies immune response/immune system, how it deals with bacteria/infection (liking it to a battle with soldiers), and the healing process- as well as other interesting facts found on nearly every page…with a list of our body’s main defenses found at the end of the story. Our little MC skins his knee while playing, so after washing it clean, his mother puts a bandage on it and tells him that it will heal faster if he doesn’t peek- and also tells him that he will need a new bandage put on it every day, for a week. He is very curious about what is happening ‘Under the Bandage’…. The illustrations are really cute- big, bright, bold, and colourful – bringing the story to life and really grabbed my grandchildren’s attention. The story is told in a rhyming verse, which added an extra element of interest to the overall story. While the ‘story’ itself is written in a way that is easy to read and understand, the ‘interesting facts’ portion of the story has some ‘bigger’, more complicated words which children may have trouble reading and understanding (but those parts could be skipped over if you wanted, without affecting the ‘actual’ story). As soon as I saw this pop up, I new I had to read it. Sylvie Stewart is a great author and I was excited to see they collabed with a new to me author. I thought this was a great weekend read and I didn’t want to put it down. The two main characters are older than most of the MCs in books that I read and I loved that. They had a whirlwind meetup that ended badly. The feel good nice feeling turned into a long period of dislike. The banter between the two was fantastic and I enjoyed their story of finding each other again navigating their tricky relationship. I was rooting for them and was happy to follow them to their HEA. I am looking forward to reading more by both of these authors and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good book to read! Happy Reading!

I’ve had my eye on this series for a while but have never taken the leap to read it until now. Why I started with book 5 I couldn’t tell you. I guess I’m just random like that. I realized that they can be read as standalone novels but by starting from the beginning you gain more from the series and have all your questions answered if you read the series in order. Arrow and Vivian are a power couple once they get together, but in the mean time they do surely take their time getting there. She’s an independent, fierce self defense teacher/dentist, and Arrow is a morally gray retired Navy seal who has an interest in wine. Their chemistry was great, the novel was intense, and meaningful. I’m so glad I gave this novel a chance. I am looking forward to going back to start this series from the beginning.

4 stars Under the Bandage is another unique children story from Lois. The story is told in a rhythmic rhyming way that makes the kids want to join in. Not only is there is the main story, but Lois also includes smaller pictures and information facts pertaining to a certain portion of the story. Follow along as what started out as a scrape turns into a war. A troop of soldiers ready to defend and repair and stop those that are attacking. What better and fun way to teach little minds and explain what is going on so they are not so worried about scrapes and injuries. But this is what Lois does, she takes a topic and makes it into a bright, colourful and fun learning experience without them even knowing because to them it is just a story. I would recommend this book for any 5–8-year-olds. Have fun reading.

4.5 stars I can’t believe we are at book five in this series already. I have loved this series from the very first book and each book there after only gets better and better. This is my favourite story in the series although I have said that about the others. This is one series that you should get behind because it is great reading. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I say make sure you start with The Mastermind which stars the first of the WaterFyre men to get his story told. The Strategist is Arrow’s story and Nadia has woven a complex tale that I could not set aside I had to keep the pages turning because I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted to see how it all went. I love getting the inside thoughts of the characters instead of it being one sided and Nadia does this by writing in dual POV. Arrow left the life of a Navy SEAL behind but that doesn’t mean he can leave behind painful memories that is until her but when danger comes calling can he help her? Or better yet does she need his help? Will her secrets keep them from what could truly be? Danger and dark secrets that may just destroy it all. What happens next makes for one intriguing and engrossing read. As always, I look forward to seeing what Nadia gives us next.

I LOVED this book! What more could you ask for? A RomCom full of witty banter and relatable characters.
I was so excited when the book began with a meet-cute! Only for things to take a turn after a single interaction. Ten years pass and the pair is forced into a last resort situation that both Kaitlyn and Ben claim to both hate but neither want to end. The banter between the pair had me laughing out loud.
I love the authenticity of this book. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies, but neither is real life. Perceptions of people change and forced proximity forges new relationships.
If you’re looking for a quick read with a show burn and forbidden love, this one is for you.

The Better Man is book two in the Silver Buckle Brides Romance series. I was worried about starting in the middle of a series but quickly found that these books can be read as standalone novels. This was a sweet, feel good, squeaky clean romance that very closely resembled real life, and real life struggles, woven through with fun banter, and good humor despite those aforementioned struggles. These characters became friends, and with this authors writing the characters come to life throughout this novel. I loved seeing how much progress the characters made, how the characters grew, and came into their own. Laramee and Jamie definitely ran away with my heart. A wonderful novel about overcoming fears, obstacles, and redemption.

Great story. Pretty cool the way the main characters come together to find a way to make things work even though they are on different sides of the situation in the beginning. They are definitely feeling something for one another but are they willing to cross that line? They both have walls up and are having a hard time facing the reality of their feelings for one another. I really enjoyed watching their growth in friendship and eventually more.

I love this series so much. I was so excited to see that this is a series because I really loved Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes. I really love this series because it’s about women in their 30’s-40’s going through life as single women and fighting for love. This book really drew me in because Kaitlyn with a “K” is a career woman and reality starts to change right in front of her eyes and VERY quickly. As a single career woman myself, I found it so fun to sit down every night and read a little bit more about how she handles her career, her heels, and her dating life. I think this book is a GREAT read for all ages, but especially single women in this age range. It gives me a little bit of hope that a Hockey player will come and sweep me off my feet. (Kidding…kinda)

This is the second book in this series and while you can 100% read it as a standalone this is a series that will bring up characters from previous books so it may add to the experience if you read book 1 first (but you don’t have to). Jamie and Laramee are two people who are dealing with past issues and have to interact with each other. There is humor and wonderful character development. Their romance is gentle despite the head butting and is very sweet to read. This was a lovely book.

I am new to this author and the Echo series in general. Having no prior knowledge of this series did not hinder my enjoyment or understanding of Healing Hearts since it reads well as a stand alone. Right away I liked Gene and felt he was a realistic, warm and compassionate character (consistent with a doctor) and I came to believe Amanda’s character was well written as well. This book was longer than I anticipated but it read well without any lulls or difficulty following the storyline. I enjoyed this author’s writing style, varying from the alternating narration so many novels feature. Overall,I enjoyed this backstory and look forward to reading more in this series.

In this first book we have the story of the Muses. Mainly Bianca and Sebastian. Bianca is close to flunking out of Brightling Academy. She offers to help Sebastian settle in at her school. Bianca is your sweet kind of girl. She has a lot of power but doesn’t quite know it. She has a lot of self-doubt but by the end of the novella, she has beautifully transformed into a butterfly who knows her worth. I really enjoyed this book! I will be adding it to my daughter’s library when she gets a little bit older. I think she will absolutely love this book!

This was a really cute novella. It was quick to get through. I was quite sad that it didn’t take me very long to finish it. I wanted to read more and hear more about Corisande and Noah’s story. The way it ended was very sweet, but I was wanting more. I will say though my favorite character was Sera. She was everything a best friend could ask for. I am for sure going to read more about Mythic Academy! It tied in the different myths of the sirens beautifully, and the storytelling was amazing. When the accident causing Noah to fall off his boat leads into some interesting turns and twists. Are the feeling between Corisande and Noah real, or are they just because of her curse?

If you read any of my reviews, you know I’m a huge fan of Lois Wickstrom! Of all the books I’ve read by her, this one is, hands down, my ABSOLUTE favorite….so far!! She writes so well that this one might be demoted at some point but it will take a lot.
This story features a young boy who loves toy soldiers. One day he has a boo-boo on his knee and his mom puts a bandage on it. The story talks about how the toy soldiers and engineers are working to put his skin back together.
I absolutely love the analogies used and I wish I would have had this book back in my nursing days. I would have read this to every one of the kiddos I took care of! The author goes a little further in depth in this story by telling about some of the bacteria that invade the body. There are some larger words here but it’s great learning for kids and adults alike! She also stresses the necessity of handwashing!
I love that this book releases today in the midst of National Nurses Week too!

This story is a really cute way to teach kids about infections, and how to let wounds heal. The comparisons the little boy makes in this book is so cute and it was entirely worth the read.

This was my first book by these authors, and it blew me away! After seeing the cute cover, I had a feeling I would pick it up. I love that they put the tropes up front because I knew I was in for a good read after seeing them. I won’t give anything away, but it was truly refreshing to find that this was not a typical sports romance book. Kaitlyn is a force to be reckoned with which had me hooked instantly. Banks had me flustered at first, but after awhile I found a soft spot for him. Don’t let the cover fool you, there are some spicy scenes in this book that will surprise you (in a good way). I loved their chemistry, their banter, and the forbidden romance of it all. I finished this in one day because I couldn’t get enough! If you are looking for a funny and steamy sports romance, look no further than this. I highly recommend picking it up and giving it a chance!

I’ve enjoyed a few books by this author, but this one ties for my favorite! It’s a slight change from their historical romances yet somehow, they still wove an incredible and inspirational romance tale. I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series, but I believe it can be read as a standalone because I wasn’t lost at any point. I will be circling back to pick up the previous one anyways just because this one was sensational! The characters are relatable, and the flow of the story unfolded naturally. Laramee’s situation pulled at my heart so much, but Jamie also held a special place for me. This was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster that was pulling me in page by page. I love Colorado and the author brought the area to life in my mind. If you are looking for an intriguing romance to cuddle up with on your weekend, this should absolutely be your next read!

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I enjoy their writing style that makes her characters pop and written with a lot of heart. This is the fifth book, it can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading the previous books as they are just as great as this one. This is a well written story that is not just full of romance but also suspense. Vivian is a dentist who has no time for romance. Arrow is a Navy Seal but has a past that seems to haunt him. How will one date, one night change everything for them both. Will they get a second chance at romance? I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world with ease. They are engaging characters that kept me turning pages to the end. They have great growth as well as chemistry throughout the story which made it easy to read. I found this book to be fast paced and entertaining. A hard to put down story that I highly recommend.

A heartwarming romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Laramee Stone returns to her family’s Colorado ranch after leaving five years ago following a family tragedy. Meanwhile, Jamie Cannon, after making some youthful mistakes is now a successful partner in his family’s real estate business. Jamie arrives at the Stone’s remote ranch to carry out an appraisal as Laramee’s ailing parents are considering selling the place. Whilst Jamie is dedicated to fulfilling his assignment, Laramee is just keen to get him to leave her family’s ranch. However, with her family’s financial future at stake the couple reluctantly agree to work together. They soon discover that they have both had tragedies happen in their pasts, but just as their relationship develops Laramee’s ex-fiancé returns. Sutton makes it very clear that he wants to get back together with Laramee and having discovered Jamie’s past makes it clear that he thinks he is the better man for her. Jamie must then decide if he can make Laramee happy despite his past baggage and if so needs to tell her how he feels. Both Laramee and Jamie are likeable and relatable characters who’s chemistry came across in the narrative. The Colorado ranch setting was brought to life through the descriptive narrative helping me feel immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging romance which I recommend reading.

As the fifth book in the series, I could not wait to start reading this. As soon as I started reading, I loved the characters. I found them so engaging and I really wanted to know more about their story. I thought their connection was believable and easy to connect with. It was great watching it develop as the story went on. This author has created a great series and each one is well written and interesting. I enjoyed the story presented in this book and thought it was a great fit for the characters. The storyline was well developed and I enjoyed the overall pace. This is a great series and great book that I would recommend.

The Ghostly Diva is the 3rd and final book of the Divine Vintage and while I am sad this series is completed….I really enjoyed this series and the final book. This story gave me all the feels of spark, chemistry, enemies to lovers (which I love), drama and ghosts. While each book could be read as a standalone, I truly recommend reading this series from the beginning. This is a wonderful and fun series and I am looking forward to what the author may have in store in the future.
Justine Saunders is all about finding the best treasures in vintage clothing. When the phone rings and an opportunity arises to look at vintage clothing items from a deceased actress…she jumps at the opportunity. All Jackson Maddox wants to do is just unload all the unwanted clothing and his burly attitude is a bit standoffish with Justine. But as there are pieces to the puzzle, there is more to Jackson….he wants to know where he is from truly. Justine is discovering secrets and tries to help Jackson with his family issues…and a ghostly mom. Will there also be love in the air while trying to solve a mystery…
Definitely read and find out. This is truly a great story.

“Under the Bandage” by Lois Wickstrom is a fascinating and informative story that will help children understand the process of wound healing. The story is told from the perspective of a young boy who has skinned his knee and is forced to wear a bandage by his mother.
The use of personification, such as comparing the bacteria to enemies and the construction crew to workers, helps to make the concept more accessible and memorable for young readers. The illustrations accompanying the story are also helpful in visualizing the different stages of wound healing.

“Kris and the Cowboys” by Art Blegen is a captivating tale that will transport young readers to the Wild West. The story follows Kris, a brave and resourceful protagonist, as she embarks on a cattle drive with a group of cowboys across the beautiful American landscape.
The adventure begins with a mystery: a cow has gone missing, along with one of the cowboys, Bart. Kris and the others are convinced that Bart is a rustler, and they set out to retrieve the stolen cow and bring the culprit to justice. However, their journey is fraught with challenges, including encounters with Indians, wild animals, and a devastating flood. I personally felt it was too many events that are farfetched in one short day in Kris’s life, but this is fiction!
One of the standout aspects of “Kris and the Cowboys” is its well-developed characters. Kris is a relatable and inspiring protagonist, while the other cowboys add depth and humor to the story. The supporting characters, including Bart and the tribe’s leader, are also well-written and add richness to the narrative.
