Grumbler’s Ride: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2 by Manda Mellett. This author gets me every single time. I think I’ll be a fan of hers forever honestly because ever time I get to read a new book I think it’s my new favorite. Each book gets better and sometimes that can be hard as an author but without fail this author blows me away every time. The characters in this story truly captured a piece of my heart and loved getting lost with them for a while. It’s so easy to read these books in one sitting simply because I have the hardest time putting it down. The storyline is well written and paced nicely. The characters are complex, relatable and well developed. They simply pull you in and you won’t want to leave. I know I sure didn’t want to. Five stars all the way and highly recommended! I simply recommend every single book this author has! Can’t wait for more!

Five Stars

I cannot express enough how much I enjoy Manda Mellett stories. Every MC book I have read from her has left me excited for more. This story is no different. There’s just something refreshing about an older man. Like they’ve already been done the road and don’t have time for games. Grumbler is the type of guy I could see myself with if I was in that age group. Shoot if he came to me while I was 31 I would probably give it a go lol. I really liked how he stood up for Alicia. He care when he had no reason to. Put himself and the club out there to protect her. I really liked Mary. Even though she had her judgment about the club girls it didn’t stop her from listening to them and showing them respect. Overall the whole story was really good. The author wrote another good book where we see a man set in his ways but changes for the right woman. I couldn’t believe how fast I read the story that I went in for seconds. I love how Grumbler’s bike is described. I could really see myself riding the back of it. I say take a leap and enjoy a story about a sexy older man.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grumbler’s Ride is the second book in the San Diego Chapter of Manda Mellett’s Satan’s Devils MC series. It focuses on Grumbler, an older member of the MC, who gets roped into doing a photoshoot (or, rather, letting his bike be used in a photoshoot) and ends up tangled up in problems much bigger than the gentle teasing he anticipated.
This is a fantastic series. Each book, including this one, can be read as a standalone. In this book, we have Mary and Alicia who are new to the Satan’s Devils’ way of life and so we get to discover things anew through their eyes – perfect for readers who are new to the series as well as established fans.
I’ve lost count of how many of the Satan’s Devils MC books I’ve read (no wait, I can check – it’s 8 not including this one!). By now, many of the characters and settings, across the different chapters, feel very familiar. It’s like catching up with some old friends who have very exciting lives! I love that the series is expanding across America, giving me a chance to explore new places from the comfort of my sofa.
Like many of the books, this one addresses some difficult and sensitive issues. This is done openly and respectfully. The familiar, protective characters from the MC make it a good setting to address such issues without making the story too dark.
For me, this is a five-star read. This is a great series! I feel like I should recommend it to fans of romance and motorcycles but I don’t have a particular interest in either myself and have still found myself hooked so maybe just give it a go!

Being Lost: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #1 by Manda Mellett

Lost is the new prez of Satan’s Devil’s. When an old foe comes to town. Then he finds his love. Maybe. The quote I chose for Lost is: “I can’t rule it out. A sensible man, out bad with our club, would never show his face in San Diego again.”

Pasty is a mom of two. When one of her kids needs her more than the other she leaves her state. When the prez of Satan’s Devils shows up unannounced. The quote I chose for Patsy is: “Who are you? And what the hell do you think you’re doing in my house?”

Highly recommended for MC lovers. It’s worth it.

5 out of 5 stars

I have read quite a few books written by Ms. Mellett and her writing just gets better with each book. I love how through she is with her descriptions if its of the club house and compound or just the people in general. These guys are not just a bunch of misfits that come together it is a brotherhood.

Lost had it all wife, house, business, money, and he lost it all. He always thinks he is a screwup that let people down. He does not know how he ended up the president of the San Diego chapter and he always thinks he will let his brothers down.

When he meets Patsy the mother of one of the old ladies from the Colorado chapter all bets are off, she is in danger and he needs to keep her safe. Can Lost keep Patsy safe or will he let her down?

Patsy she left everything behind to make a new life, choosing which of her two adult children now needed her the most. It was a hard decision for her to leave one of her children behind. So, with a new life and new city they should have been safe if it wasn’t for one mistake she made and they found her/them.

Luckily for her the Satan Devils come to the rescue before trouble starts. This is where Lost and Patsy meet there is an instant attraction between them but their both not looking for a relationship. Lost thinks he should stay away and warn her that he isn’t a person to trust when he doesn’t have faith in himself. But of course, Patsy sees him differently and feels that the only man that can keep her safe is Lost but can she really depend on him?

I highly recommend this story and all the other Satan Devil books that Ms. Mellett wrote….

Grumbler’s Ride: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2 by Manda Mellett is a MC romance suspense story. This is a slower paced story than the usual but does pick up toward the end but that doesn’t mean it is anything less than the others. Manda is one of my favourite storytellers and MC is her genre. She knows just how to do it greatly and I must say I think this is my new favourite. Grumbler, our main character is older to boot, soon finds himself finding something he never thought he would have. Now the stakes are even higher, and he is in the fight to win. I love these guys who are big teddy bears BUT cross a line and you are free fodder for fire. As usual Manda has given us an awesome story and just as awesome characters.

I am a big fan of Manda Mellett’s ‘Satan’s Devils’ romantic suspense MC novels and so was looking forward to this second book in he ‘Satan’s Devils MC San Diego’ series. In ‘Grumbler’s Ride’ we are back with the MC members of the Satan’s Devils SAN Diego chapter. This book does include some dark themes which may contain triggers but these are part of the overall storyline and as usual Mellett writes with honesty and sensitivity. The story centres around sergeant-at-arms Grumbler, who has been part of the Satan’s Devils for ever and who is fairly happy with his settled life believing himself too old to change his ways. However, he’s never had an ‘old lady’ , or kids but doesn’t feel like he’s missing out. Things change for Grumbler and become complicated when Mary enters his life at a photo shoot featuring Grumbler’s baby (his motorcycle). Mary is a busy and frazzled single mum to seventeen year old Alicia who is always trying to push boundaries and challenge her mum. Mary is horrified when she discovers Alicia is going to model for a perfect stranger without a chaperone and despite the arguments Mary goes to the photo shoot with her daughter. Mary was right that the situation and the photographer were not above board but she’s surprised when it’s the gruff owner of the motorcycle used in the shoot, biker Grumbler who helps her and Alicia when they need backup.
I was hooked from start to finish by ‘Grumbler’s Ride’ and I liked the fact that the main characters, Grumbler and Mary were an older couple getting a second chance at love later in life. The storyline is fast paced and the plot is full of drama, suspense and romance which kept me reading late into the night. The characters as usual are well defined and both Grumbler, Mary and Alicia are all very realistic and relatable making me feel invested in the outcome for them all in the story. The story took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it and although it does include some difficult scenes and tackles some sensitive issues these add depth to the overall story. I found ‘Grumbler’s Ride’ to be an enjoyable, emotional and engaging read. I look forward to future Satan’s Devils novels.

Being Lost (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #1)Being Lost by Manda Mellett

My love for Manda Mellet and her Satan’s Devils began in Colorado and has now moved to San Diego!

Lost is the name of the president of the San Diego chapter of the Satan’s Devils motorcycle club. Lost is well, lost. And for most of the book he is finding himself. And finding a reason for happiness, which he finds in Patsy who is in danger. Lost makes her his top priority.

Patsy and her son, Dan, are trying to start a new life away from the trouble Pasty’s ex-husband started before his death. But some things are hard to escape. Maybe the help from a Lost man is all Patsy needs.
I like this story and the growth that Lost makes throughout it. I love that this story has older characters as the lead. Not every hero/heroine is a 20-something Barbie girl!

Glad I have the next book in this series ready to go!

Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett is book two of the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series.

Grumbler’s life is just the way he wants it. He never felt that he missed out on anything. All he needs is his motorcycle. He never expected things to get quite so complicated. Mary, as a single mom, is used to handling things on her own and she never expected to need help let alone that of Grumbler. He seems abrasive and gruff but the way he helped Mary and Alicia was so sweet!

The build up of the characters and the story was great and kept me hooked the whole time I was reading! Each book gets better as they go!

Grumbler’s Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series by Manda Mellett. I have read all of Ms. Mellett’s books now, and always enjoy what she does- she always produces a captivating read, and this story was no different. This is an MC romance, with an older couple- as well as exploring some sensitive topics.
Grumbler and Mary’s story makes a great addition to the series, and Satan’s Devils world. It is a slower paced/slower burn story than some of Ms. Mellett’s other books- but still delivers all the feels we’ve come to expect from her work.

Thank you, Manda Mellett!

This book rocked my world!! I knew I was going to love it because who doesn’t love a genuine motorcycle man? Being Lost by Manda Mellett is book 1 in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series. If ever there was an older gentleman that could make me swoon, Lost is him!! Lost is the president of MC. He is funny, smart, ambitious, protective, romantic and so much more! Patty is once divorced and not even close to looking for a relationship because life has different plans for her. She is scared, living under an assumed named, newly estranged from her daughter because of circumstances involving her son, and unknowingly under the protection of the MC when she unexpectedly gets a knock at her door. From that moment on, this story is unpredictable, mysterious, steamy in places, and outright unputdownable! 5 star read for sure!

Whoa! This book is amazing! I loved all the danger and the drama (you know how teens are). This one is a bit different from the previous stories. A Slower pace and more depth. We get a ride with the grizzled Grumbler who is knocking on sixty’s door. He is gruff but fair. Even though he is older I liked his outlook on his life and the club. I also enjoy his attention and kindness to Alicia. I love the relationship they build enough that she can smart mouth him on some things. I can’t stop smiling during the scene near the end. Alicia get told some information from her mom and Grumbler comes in.

The characters are well written. They are full of honesty and fire. From the teenager all the way to the older biker. I enjoyed being brought into their worlds and learning what makes them tick. We get more insight into the Devils members also with this story. Plus we get a bonus of a couple characters from Utah (which I thoroughly loved).

Overall this is a wonderfully written story. I couldn’t put this one down and read late into the night. That’s last few scenes at the clubhouse i enjoyed immensely and make me feel young again. It does have a few dark elements but nothing I haven’t seen before pertaining to MC’s. The characters are written with depth and feeling. They just make me want to know more.

Grumblers Ride by Manda Mellett a five-star read that won’t leave you grumbling. This is number two in the San Diego chapter, this one is my favourite of this author and I have read a lot, so that’s something, as I don’t usually have a clear favourite. This one does have triggers and one short part really made me catch my breath and need a extra drink. But it was a part of the story and did add something to it, and that’s why this author always writes a compelling story, as they write difficult in a great way, its gritty and hard but so well don’t that you get sucked in and really feel the emotions. Grumbler was such a lovely character, watching him grow and become the man you knew was under the surface and watch everyone realise what was there all along, was amazing. Do pick this author up and do fall in love with a Grumbler.

I don’t always get to read stories about older people. I was really surprised at how it turned out. I shouldn’t have been Manda Mellett is a really good author. I found this story to be refreshing and believable. We all think that with age we are settled and there is no worries. In this story or lead Pasty is anything but settled. Her life hasn’t been easy. She is tired and ready for a change. I really understood Lost character. He couldn’t really find his way. There are days when you just don’t know which way to go. Liked that they both weren’t looking for it and yet they found each other. Being Lost is how most people are feeling in 2020. You just get up and do because there is someone counting on you. I really enjoyed this first book I am betting book 2 will be even better. I am happy that I got to read such a great story. The character great and the plot good. The author has a great flow.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grumbler’s Ride is the 2nd book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Chapter. I first started reading Manda Mellett’s work with the original Satan’s Devils MC chapter and have been a huge fan of her Satan’s Devils MC books ever since. It totally amazes me how she can come up with new and amazing stories each time.
In this book we have the story of Grumbler and Mary. One thing I loved so much about this book is that Grumbler is in his 50’s and Mary is 47. On my next birthday I hit the dreaded 50 and I love that Manda Mellett has chosen to write a romance for the older character. It makes such a change from the usual 20 and early 30 somethings that we get in most romance novels. I loved that we get characters who no longer have perfect bodies and can still be sexy. It gives hope for us oldies who have far from perfect bodies.
I think I say this in every review I write for Manda Mellett’s books but I love that in addition to the romance there is always a fantastic storyline running through the book that has the reader hooked just as much as the romance and this book is no different. The storyline running through this book is quite dark at times and can make for difficult reading but Manda Mellett does an amazing jobs as always for making it such compelling reading. I was totally hooked and did not want to put this book down.
I absolutely adore the men (and women) of the Satan’s Devils and can’t wait to see what Manda Mellett has in store to delight us with next. I will definitely be reading it.

Grumbler’s Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series by Manda Mellett. This particular story is about Grumbler, the sergeant-at-arms of the San Diego chapter of the Satan’s Devils MC, and Mary. Grumbler has given his life to his club, as most do when they are part of a motorcycle club. He doesn’t have an old lady or any kids, it seems that his bike is his only companion. Things change for Grumbler when someone wants to feature his bike and his path crosses with Mary’s. Mary is a single mother to her seventeen year old daughter. Like many seventeen year olds, she wants independence but acts like a child at the same time. Mary tries her best to stay ahead of her daughters pursuits, but this time she wants to model and refuses Mary to chaperone. Mary’s motherly instincts kick in but it might be too late. Thankfully Grumbler is there to help. Like many other novels by this author, she does an amazing job walking the fine line of heavy subject matter. She does so in such a tasteful way that she is able to bring awareness to some controversial topics. This story did not disappoint one bit and I look forward to reading other stores in this series.

I never get tired of reading books by this author, I often wonder how she can write so many books and never repeat storylines but she doesn’t. Every character is different and they always have a way of making you fall in love with them straight away. I really liked Grumbler, he was a little more mature than I first thought he was going to be so I really liked that about him, I really liked this connection he had with Mary, they were both great characters to read about. This is the second book in the San Diego chapter of the Satan’s Devil MC and it looks as though it’s going to be a great division to read about.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series! This is a highly recommended series.

Grumblers Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. The story follows Grumbler, who is the chapters Sargent at Arms, when he by chance meets a photographer who wants to take pictures of his bike. Little does Grumbler know that this chance meeting will mean meeting Alicia and her mum Mary. Who will soon become important fixtures in his life. As with all the Satan’s Devils books, this book has a strong alpha main character looking out for his “family”. What I liked about this book is that both the main characters were older (50’ and 40’s) and wasn’t just a first love, happily ever after story that you can find with some romance novels. I really enjoyed this book, and as an avid reader of all the Satan’s Devil MC books I am looking forward to the next one.

I was once again transported into the motorcycle club world and boy I was not disappointed! I really like how the author brings the characters to life. I feel as though I am truly there part of the action. I also like how the romance is subtle. I really like how there is a mix of action and drama.

I really like how Grumbler and Mary come together. It is the very definition of opposites attract. I really like how the characters are believable and down to earth. I like how the author is able to bring the romance and drama together. The author has a very refreshing writing style that just hooks the reader from the first page. Whew! Took me a bit to get my thoughts together on this newest installment of the Satan’s Devils. Started a bit slow for me which was a shock because normally I’m done and hooked after the first page, but I’d say an eighth of the way in I was completely invested. Then by the end I realize this is now one of my favorites from the many books in this series that spans a few cities and charters.

Not gonna lie, there was a scene that had me putting my kindle down and having to walk away for a while. It made me need to focus on something else to get my mind off of what I’d just read. By the time I picked it back up I was plotting and planning right along with them to have a few people meet Satan. Serious respect for this author’s ability to get through that part of writing this story.

I loved Grumbler, and equally loved Mary, and Alicia became one of my favorite people towards the end. There were so many things I loved about this story. The family aspect of the club came through loud and clear and bringing in Utah was genius and I feel absolutely needed in that ongoing storyline. I feel a building of that open storyline coming and can’t wait to see how that plays out.

I wanted an epilogue a few months ahead at the end of this so bad, I kept trying to turn the last page and nothing… I so hope we don’t have to wait very long, I need to know how it all turns out.

Once again I finish a Manda Mellett book and wonder who is next, what charter will it be and realize I don’t care…I just need it now!

Awesome story, awesome characters, there are so many books but reading them all gives you the whole of this amazing MC…That is my goal someday to start and go all the way through rereading every single one!

I’ve come to enjoy Mellett’s works that stem from her imagination. This is a plot-driven narrative with a blend of romanticism and love with a mix of lust. The characters seemed easy to see through your mind’s eye. Their interest gets deeper as Grumbler helps Mary with a child who is not even his own but he’s the perfect hero for the job. I loved reading the book Grumbler’s Ride (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2) by Manda Mellett. It is a story that grabs your attention from the very beginning, and I was hooked. I love the characters of Grumbler and Mary. They both know that there is an attraction and chemistry between them. Will they take a chance with each other? What will happen when a situation blows up? Will she be able to lean on Grumbler? This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about Mary, her daughter, and Grumbler with each chapter that I read. I could also see that Mary and Grumbler would be wonderful together and rooted for them to find happiness. I enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters as they have been brought forward from the first book. There are heartwarming moments as well as moments when I was wondering what was going to happen next. There is romance as well as suspense. The author does an amazing job of making both the story and the characters come to life. Don’t miss out on the awesome second story in the San Diego chapter of Satan’s Devils. I highly recommend reading it.

For Deacon, winning over a woman has never been this difficult. The more she fights his “charm,” the more determined he is not to give up. This is one war he can’t afford to lose, not only for her, but with locating the fugitive before he finds his victim.
It’s a challenge he’s willing to take on, as long as it doesn’t destroy him first.
Note: Blood & Bones: Deacon is the fourth book in the Blood Fury MC series. As always, this book has no cheating, no cliffhanger and has an HEA. It’s recommended to read this series in order.

Grumbler’s Ride (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Carrie Reed

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

I am loving this series so far with the older generation! Grumbler never really seems like a rough guy to me, I guess his appearance is rough but every exchange he had with anyone, he seemed sweet. I love him and Mary together, and he finally found himself an old lady. It is fun to see what situation the boys will get themselves involved with, that ends up with them meeting their destined partner. This story made me so sad and disgusted with people that would steal children and make videos. I was happy to see the Utah chapter step in and help fight this ring. When Swift shows up to help, and has the honor of leading the torture, the guys find a new respect for her, and I think they finally see why she was patched in. The story was beautifully written, I loved every character and was very pleased with how Grumbler and Mary ended up. I love Manda Mellett’s MC series because the story is so much more than a hot biker hooking up with a woman, there is so much depth to each book. I can’t wait to see who comes next.

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series and I loved it just as much if not more than the first one. I was pulled right into the story from the beginning. I highly suggest reading the previous book to get to know the characters better. I had no problem connecting to the characters as they bring the story to life. Who doesn’t love hot, steamy bikers, right! In this book we get to see Grumber. He has always felt that he doesn’t need a woman or family in his life until he meets Mary. She is a single mother of a seventeen year old who likes to push boundaries. Her daughter manages to get herself in a situation that something just isn’t right about it. Just when Mary thought she couldn’t take more and not sure how to cope until Grumbler. What happens next you don’t want to miss. They have such great chemistry together, I loved them. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Grumbler’s Ride (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2) by Manda Mellett
GENRE – Romantic Suspense
Page Count – 400 pages
Grumbler
I’ve given this club more years of my life than I care to remember, most recently giving them my all as sergeant-at-arms. My life is settled and just the way I like it. I’m too old to change now.
I’ve never had a woman to call my own, nor fathered kids, and never felt I missed out. My brothers sometimes joke my motorcycle is my old lady, and I can’t argue.
So when a photographer wants to feature my baby I can’t resist showing her off. It should have been simple, instead it brought complications that I never dreamed off.
Mary
I’m a frazzled single mom of a seventeen-year-old girl whose life seems to revolve around challenging me. She’s not quite adult, but doesn’t see herself as a child, constantly pushing at boundaries.
I spend my time trying to keep one step ahead of her, but if I give an inch, she takes a mile. Her latest endeavour? To model for a perfect stranger. Oh, the battles when I said she wasn’t going without me as chaperone.
I was right, something was off about the situation, but what it was took a while to emerge. I can’t imagine how I’d have coped if it hadn’t been for the gruff biker called Grumbler.
Note: This book is dark in places and may contain triggers.

Manda’s life’s always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?

There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.

Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.

Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.
