Because of You by Megan Nugen Isbell – Review by Jana Teppih

Because of YouBecause of You by Megan Nugen Isbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Because of You is a standalone by Megan Nugen Isabell and it is the second book I have read by this writer and she killed it! The first book I read by her was a fine read but this one, oh my goodness; this one simply took it beyond anything I could have imagined!
“Be the woman he fell in love with. Live and be strong. Always.” The writer ripped out my heart and I never got it back … I cried and cried and hoped for the best and … I get you, Megan, I understand why you said that this book took you almost two years to write and that eventually Sam and Gabe where screaming at you to tell their story … I would scream as well …
So Because of You is the story of Samantha ‘Sam’ Everly and Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Torres. Samantha’s life has been one horror after another since she was a little kid and it has been just her and her older sister Rachel against the world … The demons though, they do not leave you even when you leave the place and people that are the cause of it and very often even if we do not want to repeat the patterns, we still tend to it … Sometimes, you need to reach the darkest point of your life to find the light and hope … Gabe is a Boston cop and one of the best men Sam has ever met, one of the best any of us has met. The world is a better place just because men like Gabe exist.
I invite to join us on the journey of Sam discovering her worth and value … rage against the abuse that so many children and women (and also men)suffer every day … and wish for the light and hope … I promise you that once you start Because of You, you will not be able to put it down and once you are at the end, you will love Megan for ever … though I do understand why you wrote the way you did, I still wish …

Because of You by Megan Nugen Isbell – Review by Angela Shirley

Because of YouBecause of You by Megan Nugen Isbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Because of you by Megan Nugen Isbell is a great happily ever after story with great characters and a beautiful story.

I have read the majority of the novels written by Megan and I have to say they never disappoint, I love the writing style and the way that they just flow through with fast pace. The characters which are written so well which makes you feel like you know them as your friends and following the lives in real life.

This story follows some strong subject matter and the character of Sam comes under a lot of pressure in the beginning of the story to stay in a relationship which is not really health for her, but with the help of her family she becomes a strong character to leave the destructive relationship but falls into a depression after a accident.

I comes her knight in shining armour in Gabe a Boston cop who in the beginning is there for her but as they go on, Gabe starts to develop feels and wants to get to know Sam better.

As the story continues you get to see both these characters grow through the story and you just wishing them to get together.

I loved this story and it can be read as a stand alone story and cannot wait to read more from this author.

Catching Caroline (Silver Falls Book 1) by Megan Nugen Isbell – Review by Jana Teppih

Catching Caroline (Silver Falls Book 1)Catching Caroline by Megan Nugen Isbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Catching Caroline is the first book in Megan Nugen Isbell’s new series Silver Falls. It is the first book I have read by this writer and I was really curious about the book when I read the synopsis.
The story of Caroline Hale and Adam DeLain takes place in a small town in Vermont. I love what the American small towns stand for and the writer successfully conveyed it to all of us! Kudos!
Caroline is Adam’s best friend’s Saywer’s little sister who waitresses at her grandparents diner while going to college. She is a sweet sweet girl who has been in her one and only relationship since she was 16. She does not really understand her own allure. Adam is a small town boy who has made it to the professional baseball league and plays for Red Sox in Boston. He has left the small town behind and is so different from the boy that Caroline used to know and idolize.
The story is about going back to your roots and finding out that a lot has changed but the true essence has not – Caroline is still the sweetest shy girl that makes Adam’s heart beat in overtime and makes him to see her as a grown up woman and not just the little girl that used to follow him around. Caroline needs to dig deep and find out if she can trust Adam as she has seen him parading all those supermodel beauties on his arm since he made it up the ranks to the Red Sox.
It was a well written story that pulls at your heart strings, I got frustrated with Caroline often and I have to admit that I also got frustrated with the writer and actually had hard time to finish the book though I liked the story line! She threw into tailspin with using words that I could not relate to and that jarred me while reading … but that might totally be just my thing… I still think it is a great story and I am looking forward to the next book … I wonder whose it is, there is Erica the sassy cousin and I am sure the older brother Saywer could also have a story and …

Catching Caroline (Silver Falls Book 1) by Megan Nugen Isbell – Review by Jenni Bishop

Catching Caroline (Silver Falls Book 1)Catching Caroline by Megan Nugen Isbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caroline has led a sheltered life living in her small town Silver Falls, Vermont. When her boyfriend of many years comes back home after not seeing him for six months, her heart is broken. I definitely wanted to punch him… But it is when an unexpected friend of her brothers, Adam DeLain a Boston Red Sox baseball player, returns to Silver Falls and onto their farm for the summer, that Caroline discovers more than she ever thought possible. At first Adam is his annoying self, the annoying friend of her brothers that she followed around as a little girl and the boy that she has known all her life but after some time she discovers that he is so much more and that he is now one sexy man. Similarly Adam realises that Caroline is no longer the little sister of his best friend, she is no longer a little girl, she is now a sweet and gorgeous woman and enough for him to love. But can he make her realise that?

I enjoyed the story that Megan has weaved and certainly the characters. Catching Caroline is the first book in the series and is a sweet romance story where the main character Caroline Hale has yet to discover the world but also to believe in herself and that she is enough. She has been torn down and thrown away by someone she thought loved her. The sad fact that people can be so cruel is a part of life but having it thrown at you all the time wears away your confidence and lets the self doubt in. I just wanted to take away Caroline’s pain but at times I wanted to slap her for letting others making her feel this way. Her ever present cousin and best friend is there to help pick up the pieces every step of the way and often making you laugh with her antics, out there ways and comments. I think she added just the right amount of comic relief the story needed with her sassy, honest and direct ways. I definitely can not wait for the next installment to this series.

Last Train Home (Home #1) by Megan Nugen Isbell – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

Last Train Home (Home, #1)Last Train Home by Megan Nugen Isbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Last Train Home is the first book in the Home series by Megan Nugen Isbell. Written in first person, we follow Riley’s story as she’s forced to move across the country to her Mum’s hometown. While set in high school, this book is filled with more than just your typical teenage drama. I was hooked after the very first chapter and know I have found a new series to fall in love with!

Riley Regas has spent her entire seventeen-years on the planet in her beloved Boston. So when her mother announces they are packing up and moving to Carver, Kansas, Riley is less than impressed. She’s only visited her mother’s hometown a handful of times before and she has no desire to spend her senior year surrounded by country folk. Despite a rocky start, and a run-in with Queen Bee Adrianne, Riley starts to find her feet. Then she meets Alex Bettencourt. While Adrianna teasing only seems to get worse because of this, Riley finds herself drawn to the gorgeous guy with the brown eyes that make her melt. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she could be happy her, but that’s exactly how Alex has made her feel. But her new friends are sceptical, with Jesse Baylor warning Riley about Alex’s character. She struggles to find a balance between her friends and Alex and then the unthinkable happens. One decision changes everything and Riley finds herself unable to cope with what she’s done. So she makes another decision: one that will risk her losing everything she’s come to love.

I love myself a young-adult read, especially one with a bit of romance! At seventeen-years-old, the characters in this book are slowly creeping into the new-adult genre, and this just makes them all the more interesting to read about. During a pivotal time in her life, we meet Riley. She’s lived a good life, so being told she’s moving from big-city Boston to middle-of-nowhere Carver, she is furious with her mother. This is a theme that runs throughout the book, and while it might seem like Riley comes across as whinging and bratty (yes, I admit I did think this at points!) it’s integral to the overarching plot of the book. And that isn’t the only problem Riley has to deal with. No one likes starting a new school, especially not for their senior year. So Riley’s reaction to this was perfect, made even more so by that immediate run in with Adrianna. Wow, what a piece of work that girl is! Luckily, she’s saved by Holly, meaning we are introduced to the most wonderful group of friends! I love these guys, as their lunchtime scenes were always comical and fun.

But who am I kidding? You want to know about the boys in Riley’s life. Alex or Jesse? Jesse or Alex? What a choice. If you’ve read the book, you’ll know the answer is easy. But don’t worry, no spoilers here. Intiial impressions of both guys are good, so I’ll let you read and make you own mind up. I’d like to say though, I was firmly on * someone’s * side from the moment we met him!

Upon finishing this book, what have I done? Jumped straight into the next one of course! So expect a review for that soon; yes, I really have read that much already! I have completely fallen in love with this series and I know you will too. So, what are you waiting for? Read this book now!

Last Train Home ( The Home Series:Book One )
By Megan Nugen Isbell
5/5 Stars

Last train home is the first book, in the Home series. And let me tell ya, I’m hooked!! This is my first time reading a book by Megan. But it definitely won’t be my last either!!
I got sucked into this emotional roller coaster of a book, from the very beginning. I truly couldn’t put it down for the life of me. It truly brought me back to my high school days.
Megan has such a phenomenal way of connecting you to the characters. You feel everything they are going through. Every. Single. Emotion. It’s quite amazing actually!! To feel such a connection to a bunch of fictional characters… it’s wonderful!!
Riley Regas is your everyday, normal seventeen year old girl. She is getting ready to start her senior year of high school,in her hometown Boston. Until her mom drops a huge bomb on her …. they’re moving to Carver, Kansas. Her mother’s hometown, where she grew up and her family is currently living there.
To say Riley isn’t pleased is quite the understatement of the year! She is angry, bitter and downright mean to her mom.
But she grows to like the school and her amazing group of friends Holly,Mandy,Laura,Brandon and Jesse. Together they make some great memories and have a great time.
Just when Riley thinks things are going wonderfully, a single bad decision changes it all. She has to face some difficult choices. And during this difficult time, she finds out who her friends are and who matters the most in her life.
High school can be the best four years of your teenage life. But it also brings a lot of different emotions and feelings. I honestly think this book ( and series ) conveyed it perfectly. We have all been there during our high school days. You understand what the characters are feeling.
I truly love his series ( and characters. ) I can not wait to see what the second book has in store for me. Outstanding job Megan!!
