Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Michelle Marlow

Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Let me start this with PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS. Your mental health is important! With that said, let’s continue.

You must read Cruel Start and Cruel Hate first! Otherwise, you will be very lost. Did the cliffhanger at the end of Cruel Hate leave you wanting and needing to know what happened because same. Aspen and Phoenix truly are a force to be reckoned with. I love their emotions and chemistry truly meshed so well within these pages. I loved them so much. Isla is definitely on my immediately-read list and I can not wait for the next one.

As soon as I saw rockstar romance I knew I needed to pick this up. There wasn’t even a second thought about this. As always check the trigger warnings, your mental health is important!

We are met with Alexis and Jordan, our leading main characters, who once were romantic with each other but no longer. Why is that you ask? You will have to read to find out. I love a good second chance story. This was just that. You could feel with the characters and the emotions on the page. I would absolutely read from this author again. She did a wonderful job with story building and character building. And did I mention it was a standalone!?

This is the second book in this series. I do recommend you read the first just so you have some background before jumping into this. But you do not have to. I don’t want to give too much away. But the way the chemistry and emotions that this author writes into these characters is amazing. I will be continuing this series most definitely.

Listen, although I may not be a country music fan, I really enjoyed this story. It is the first in a series. We have Joe who is under some very strict doctor’s orders and Ali who has come to Joe in search of shelter from a storm. This was a fun read that was really easy to read and get trapped in the emotions. I cannot wait to read the second.

I went into this book not knowing it was part of a series. But that is on me! However, despite being slightly confused as I could tell events have happened prior to this book, it did not take away from the fact that it was a fun read! This was a fun hockey romance read about Austen and Dimitri. Their back and forth jests really help carry their emotions and their feelings!

I have said it once and I will say it again, please please please check trigger warnings. Your mental health is important. I will start this out with I feel like I should have read the book Craving Control before this, that way I would have had a little more understanding. But that is on me and of no fault to the author. When she says she writes dark she means it! I love a good love triangle and Zeke, Lily & Slash did not disappoint. And add in the MC portion of this and I was HOOKED. The emotions and turmoil on these pages were so good! I cannot wait to move on to the next and go back and read Craving Control!

As always, and I will say this every time, please check trigger warnings. Your mental health is more important. This is a short (to me) novella but it wraps up Skylar and Damon’s story. You should really read from the beginning of the series to really get a feel for everyone and the atmosphere. Once again this author really hits with emotions and feelings. They have not let me down yet and I truly love this series. I can not wait to see what the remainder will bring.

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Welcome to the prequel of Phoenix and Aspen’s story. This author has not given any disappointment yet so I was ready to read this one! I suggest reading the other books in this series so you know who some of the existing characters are. Also, as always, check trigger warnings your mental health is more important! I will mention there is pregnancy in this so if that is not your thing, just know that it exists. We have Phoenix who is fully focused on his NFL career until he has his eye caught by Aspen. This is absolutely a dark bully college romance, but I love the way this author writes each character’s emotions. I am highly anticipating the next!

I love anthologies! They are a nice way to get a snippit of how an author writes. This is no different. And this has all different variations of romance! With a nice healthy heaping of aliens. If you want to try this genre out this would be a wonderful way to do it!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I saw that this book was MMF erotic romance. I said Heck yeah! This is right up my alley. It is part of a series, but reading it as a standalone is no problem. And it is spicy! We have our MM couple Dane and Mike. Dane seems to think something is missing from their relationship. And suggests adding some fun and spice in the form of a woman. The story was well written and fun to read. The characters were very much their own. I truly enjoyed this from start to finish.

Once again we have a MM Romantasy by this author. A wonderful Sleeping Beauty retelling. And goodness do I love retellings. We have our leading man Ayo. He is banished from his kingdom. Along with being banished he has his magic taken. I love the plotline and world building even though it is a standalone. It’s truly an eccentric fun read.

Afflicted Love (Rhythm & Heart Series) by Autumn Sand – Review by Michelle Marlow

Afflicted LoveAfflicted Love by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Please please please please check the trigger warnings. There are some parts in here that are very tough. Your mental health is worth more.

Okay, with that out of the way, this is a MM contemporary romance. With a dark twist as well. We are met with Kyle and Elijah, who has renamed himself Lyle, to try and get away from his past. Neither of these boys have much in their lives. But what they do have is each other. Or well had each other, until they didn’t. Until one has to call the other due to life circumstances. Kyle is a bad boy rockstar while Lyle is your typical vanilla man working as a doctor. This story will break your heart and then pick the pieces up again and continue to do so through out the story. I do wish we saw more of the rockstar side of this romance as that is why I picked it up. However, I will be continuing with this because that……cliffhanger…oh my heart.

  1. What a whimsical and fun romantasy read. With some MM romance as the cherry on top! We have our leading nine tailed fox man named Huli. Who is just as mischievous as you think. And Xiăo Ying is introduced when Huli needs somewhere to be while on the run. They are both broken in their own ways and I love a good broken character. Overall a good fun read.

If you are a lover of pop culture especially music and one for poetry look no further. This is my first read from this author. However, I am no stranger to poetry. As pop culture connoisseur myself, I enjoyed every moment of this. The lyrical poetry on each page. Even if that particular one didn’t speak to me THAT’S OKAY. That just means that poem wasn’t for me. If you’re debating here’s your sign to not.

This is the third book in this series. Please make sure you read the first two. We are back in the world with our leading fae Queen Titania. I am always immediately captivated by this author’s storytelling. She does a wonderful job building a fantasy world. Our queen has many tasks bestowed upon her. Like finding what all queens should have ….a king. But let’s not forget a queen will always defend her kingdom against a threat…even if it hasn’t been seen for many many years.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the official start of the college bully romance. We come back a year after the prequel and are once again met with Cole, his brother Damon, their elite gang of friends and Riley and what is left of her family. Now, if you did not read the prequel that is okay but it truly does give the background on why Cole hates and wants to take Riley down bit by bit. Truly a bully romance full of angst, hate, and just pure raw emotions, it left me wanting the next book, RIGHT NOW.

This is the prequel to this author’s college bully romance. Within this quick but stunning prequel, we meet Riley. And Riley’s family has some things to unpack. Metaphorically and physically. We are also met with Cole and Damon and their elite rich family. Who also have a lot to unpack. This prequel is a quick novella to introduce and make you fully understand the angst and anger in the first official book in this series. And it all started with a kiss. Just one kiss. It was quick and grippy and makes you and let’s be honest me, want more.

Enemies to lovers your thing? Do you like paranormal romance? Maybe you like biker tropes? We have Noelle Frost as our leading lady and Nikolaus Klaus as our leading man. I would be lying if I said Nikolaus didn’t immediately make me go “OH HELLO KLAUS” (ya know vampire diaries…no oh well never mind). Their banters and bickers were super amusing and made me want to keep going. This is the first in a series and reading while it was snowing outside….cherry on top.

This is the next book in the Sicilian Gods series. You need to read the previous to understand the situations at hand in this book. It immediately picks up after the events of the previous. Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Michelle Marlow

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first read from this author. If you like slow burn steamy romance with second chances and a “bad boy” then keep reading this review. We are met with our former NHL star Beckett Miller who is the middle of his career and life spiraling down due to his terrible life choices. Then our leading lady Paige.

Paige has kept up with Beckett’s debacle from afar because they seemed to have prior connection and was her what if.

When everything starts to hit the fan for the both of them, they seem to find each other again. Their chemistry seemed to never dwindle and this was steamy and slow burn. Just an overall good read.

Please please please make sure you read these trigger warnings. This is my first read by this author and she absolutely hit the feelings and emotions button with me. I do wish the writing flowed together a bit more. Some of the ideas seemed smashed together. However, that doesn’t take away from this second chance romance. We are met with Enzo & Phoebe and takes place over quite a long time period. Stick it out though this is worth a read. But again, please with how this starts out, check the trigger warnings.
