Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Ashley McMillon

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book cover to cover!  Gwen shows up and shows out in every chapter in this book.  I love the narrator, her voice gives me incredible vibes of the south while listening to it.  With every page turn I became more and more comfortable with everything that Gwen faces, and saw my thought process.  Gwen gets a haunted house, a ghost, and accusations of murder all in the beginning of the book!  I didn’t want to put it down and neither will you!  I think I need to purchase the hard back of this one ASAP!

This is a highly entertaining story with one of my favourite main characters of all time. She is an absolute breath of fresh air because she is so real and relatable. I loved that she isn’t the typical heroine you get in a book but I think that just made the story so much better. The storyline of the book was great. It was perfectly written and really fit with Gwen’s character.
This is still a pretty new author to me but this book is definitely one to make sure they are added to my one click list. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Callie Luna

Return to Hoodoo is a must-read/ listen to! Gwen is a kick-ass main character that is very down-to-earth. She goes back to her hometown of Hoodoo, Texas due to an inheritance that she cannot say no to. The story is new and exciting as more is revealed about the town of Hoodoo and the main character Gwen. She is relatable as a woman who is fascinated with sexy men and Bourbon.

I was hooked by the first descriptions of the main character Gwen when remarking on herself. The narration is absolutely perfect; all the voices and inner monologues are done extremely well. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Jamie Burns

Magically Brought to Life!

This is the first book in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue series by Reggie Dupree. The narrator, Ruthie Bowles brought the story to life. I both listened to the book and read it via Kindle Unlimited. What brought the story to life in full color was the audio book. Ruthie has such a rich voice and really got into the story while reading it. This is such a magical book filled with great characters and suspense.

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Deb Robinson

This audio book was just amazing. Listened in one sitting as I could not turn it off. Oh yes, slack of sleep last night. Well worth it. The narration made the characters come to life for me. Exploding off the page.

This was the first book I have read/listened to from this author and I will most certainly be looking for more.

Gwen is finally back home after being guilty in public opinion of murder. She is hated and treated with disdain. Her plan was to go home to Hoodoo to sign papers and leave. Gwens’ luck is never good and she finds herself again suspected of murder. What the heck is it about this town? No one can be trusted and I mean no one. This was such a wonderful ride with the sassy, don’t mess with me or you will get a tongue lashing main character. Loved loved her attitude, even when she speaks without thinking.

Need to go searching for book 2.

4.5 Stars out of 5 Stars

This was my first time with a Reggi Dupree book and I was completely drawn to it. The main character is so much fun and relatable (without the supernatural aspect). I feel in love with Hoodoo and all the people in it. I was very pleased with the audiobook since the voice of the main character goes perfect with the story. As usual, I listen to audiobooks on my way to work and then on the way back home but with this book it was impossible to stop listening. Be advised that it will leave you in a little bit of a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the next book.

I loved how the author jumped us right into the story and then sprinkled the backstory in and she wove an amazing paranormal story. The writing style keeps you on the edge of your seat from the get go, wanting to learn more about what happened and what will happen. Gwen is a fabulous heroine, strong, fierce and sassy. She is the type of character that you would want to go get a drink with and see what happens. The author has created a wonderful world full of paranormal creatures mixed in with regular humans. I absolutely can’t wait to read the prequel book and what comes next from the author!

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree

Return to Hoodoo is the first book in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue Series (Audiobook) and my first book by this narrator. I’m fairly new to this author but I’m definitely a fan and will be checking out what other books they have written.  I literally listened to this book in one sitting the narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and keeping my attention throughout the story. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next.  This narrator had me feeling like I was apart of the story right from the start. I highly recommend listening to this fast paced story to find out is three times a charm as lucky as you think it is? I look forward to reading/listening to more books by this author.

I just love to find new authors and new sereies. With this being said I also love when the books have an audiobook version as well. This is a great way to be able to do your everyday chores and get lost in the world created by the author. This book was the first from this author that I have listened to and I was not let down at all. I really enjoy paranormal style books and this was a great change to my usual genre. I like how the author brings the characters to life. The story line in the book really flows well as well as the characters chemistry is really explosive.

This book really has a great underlying topic and I am really glad that an author really chose to use it. I cannot wait to be able to read the next enstallment in this series. The narrator chosen really brought this book to life and I loved the charisma brought to the character. I will definitely be getting more audio as well as proper books from this author in future.

The last thing Gwen Carter wants to do is to go home to Hoodoo, Texas. Hoodoo, the place she once called home and had everything she wanted that is until they all turned on her and she vowed never to return again. Now she is back and plans to leave as fast as possible, but black magic is rampant in this town filled with creatures you only read about will Gwen be able to navigate through the shark infested waters or will this be the end of her?

What a fantastic beginning to new series. I listened too this on audiobook and was pulled in right away. The narrator did exceptionally well with reading this story and the characters. I loved Gwen, she is absolute hoot and there are so many things that you cant wait to find out about.. Excellent book.

This series would truly make great TV! It reminds me of a show called “Midnight Texas” that I used to watch with my dad! It made me feel so nostalgic! Return To Hoodoo is both witty and comical with magnetic characters that Reggi Dupree makes feel more than real! I love the representation! We need so much more of that in the world today! I promise you won’t regret picking up this book! Highly recommend it to all fantasy lovers!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in a new paranormal women’s fiction series, and it had me captivated from start to finish. Main character Gwen Carter is not happy having been summoned to her hometown of Hoodoo, Texas, and gained a second magical disability. Having accepted an inheritance which was too complicated to refuse, Gwen is then a witness to a murder by black magic. When Gwen finds herself at the top of the suspect list, she fears that she won’t be able to break her family’s curse. It’s not just her family legacy at stake if she can’t prove that she’s not behind the murders, it’s her life. Gwen is convinced that the current murders are actually connected to the one that made her leave her home in shame. This is an enjoyable and engaging supernatural thriller, with a wonderful main character, Gwen who is both likeable and relatable. The descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the storyline.

Return to Hoodoo: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel (Boudin, Barbecue, and Hoodoo Book 1)Return to Hoodoo: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel by Reggi Dupree
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book so much that I don’t know where to start. My favorite aspect is the main character -Gwen speaks to my soul – aging, but a total badass. Beautiful and strong. Takes no BS from anyone. Brassy and sassy and so engaging. So powerful and tough but a little bit scared under the surface. She is raw, genuine, and realizes she might not have seen everything the same in her 20s as she does when she returns for a summons to receive an inheritance from her hometown in Hoodoo, Texas. Hoodoo is about what it sounds like – paranormal. Different. Comprised of shifters, witches, vampires and more – and most of them believe she killed her best friend when she was 18.

While she grew up there and her family lives there, Gwen hasn’t called Hoodoo home in a long time. She bet on them believing in her and turned out to be wrong, so she hadn’t come back. When she is summoned for an inheritance with lots of strings attached, she does as she’s told and shows up – but she is hoping to be in town overnight, have the inheritance meeting in the morning and head out of town after. As per usual in her life, and in Hoodoo – things get mixed up for Gwen.

Th ere aren’t many people on her side in Hoodoo and she knows it, but after witnessing a murder she knows she can’t leave yet. Gwen deals with the entirety of the book and her life with humor, snark, a level of badassness that I hope to achieve some day – and honesty and raw feelings. I really felt like I was connected to her and it was so wonderfully written. Creative but realistic with the stories she has lived, I will be a Reggi Dupree reader for life!

Gwen is a character that I would want to be friends with. Sassy, strong and independent, she’s back and just wants to do her business. I found this to be quite the story. I loved it because it wasn’t your basic cookie cutter. It’s unique, creative and full of paranormal goodies in the story. I love a hot werewolf too. I’ve been naughty. Lock me up. You can feel the intensity of the emotions throughout the story. I found everything so entertaining and intriguing that I stayed up late to finish it. Well worth losing sleep over. I can’t wait to read more. Bring on more of this deliciousness. Listening to this on audio was a treat. The narrator made it even better because her tone and narrating made it sound like she was from down south. It was just made the story even more enjoyable, and I just didn’t think that was possible. The writing is good, the characters are crazy and it has a paranormal flow that you just roll with. I loved it. I had to sit and listen in one sitting.

This is a new author to me….reading the snyposis and seeing the intriguing cover I decided to dive right in. This audiobook was fantastic and fun to listen to…full of magic, witches, crime, demons and a some romance.

Gwen heads back to her hometown of Hoodoo, Texas and upon her return…mysterious murders come with. With all fingers point to Gwen, will she be able to prove her innocence?

I love Gwen’s character of being strong, independent and love her being middle aged with all the parts that go with it ♥️.  I did not realize there is a prequel so I will be definitely circling back to listen to the prequel as well and I am already looking forward to book 2. The narrator was absolutely perfect for this story as well.

This was a FANTASTIC read. I haven’t read this author prior to this book and I couldn’t put it down. It was the most fun I have had reading in awhile. I’m a sucker for stories about inheritances the MC has to work for and this one was not a disappointment! I couldn’t stop laughing and cheering. I loved Gwen, but all the characters were pretty great- and varied! The story kept me hooked and I’m very excited for another one. I just discovered there is a prequel prior to this one- and I am off to read that next! Wonderful book. 10/10

Return to Hoodoo is Book #1 in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue series by Reggi Dupree. It is a fun paranormal mystery with murder, magic, mayhem, banter, antics, friendship, family, colourful quirky characters, action, adventure, the supernatural, curses, thrills, drama, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches, demons, gods, curses, crime and investigation, and even a touch of romance.
This is the first book that I have read by Reggi Dupree, so I really didn’t know what to expect from her story. But I thought the premise sounded like fun, and I really love paranormal mysteries, so I snaveled a copy and set off to explore. Since reading this, I have discovered that there is a prequel novella that is set before this book, and I really wish I’d known that before I started on this book, as I think knowing what happens there might have made my experience of this instalment even better. I felt that I wanted more backstory and character information etc here, and all those answers might be found in Hoodoo Heaven. So I will definitely be going back to read that to see if I’m right.
What a zany, crazy, fun story- with just the right amount of intrigue to keep me flipping the pages. The characters really make this story, it really wouldn’t be the same without them. They are a quirky bunch, adding an extra element of interest to the book.
Looking forward to seeing where we go from here. Bring on the next instalment- “Conjure Ink” (Book #2- due to release soon).
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Reggi Dupree!

Return to Hoodoo: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel is the first book in the Boudin, Barbecue, and Hoodoo Book series. At first, I was unsure what to think about the book, but once I got further, I got sucked into Gwen’s story. This paranormal story is set in the familiar but unfamiliar Hoodoo, Texas. I enjoy Gwen’s character and how she speaks about how she has grown comfortable with herself. We all view the past differently when we look back on it, and she has a great voice while explaining where she has come from. Set in a small town, you get a mix of the comfort of home with the gossip of Gwen’s return. She left under unusual circumstances and returns under unusual circumstances as well. I can hear the town gossiping now.
Now that I have delved into this series, I look forward to reading more.

I really enjoyed this book and the narrator was perfect in capturing Gwendolyn. I’m a sucker for strong fierce women and this book did not disappoint. Gwendolyn went many years avoiding her hometown until she is called back to her family home. From the beginning things are not going well and there seems to be a black cloud that is following her after several murders begin to occur shortly after her arrival. This was a book that thoroughly showed that that not all things are as they seem. Couple with the sassiness and humor of Gwendolyn this makes for a fun read.

Gwen Carter has died twice and is down right tired of dying. With her new inheritance she finds herself back in the family home. Hoodoo Texas, a place that ran her off has brought her back. The black magic, ghosts and murder will keep Gwen on her toes as she tries to break the family curse. She is older now but can she prove her innocence and catch the true murderer? No spoilers here. However, this author is new to me and I love his writing skills. The audible version puts you into this story. The laughter and snarky-ness of the characters will bring you back for more. The story is fast paced and easy to follow. But make no mistake you will want to read more from this series. I am looking forward to reading more from this author as well as this series.

Return to Hoodoo a magical story and is book 1 of 2 in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue duo. What an adventure there is in this Paranormal Women’s Fiction and Reggi’s amazing writing skills. How have I not come across this author before? Mind boggles.
Hoodoo is a place with such a diversity of characters who are a quirky and unusual mix of complexity, multidimensional, multifaceted and dare I say all in all a crazy bunch of riff raff. With ghostly servants, uncontrollable relations, witches, cantankerous vampires, vindictive ex’s, werewolves, magic, a haunted house and so much more.
Reggie has given us a gift and one beautifully and skilfully woven tale with so many threads that you do not want to put down. It will have you laughing, on the edge of your seat and an ending that may just do your head in and a pinch of sadness.
I love that the MC is a little older than the norm and has had real life experience. Well real life for her in this unruly town.
It’s so easy to get lost in this crazy world of action, murder and mayhem where midlife does not look the same.
I love paranormal, supernatural, mysteries that are thrillers with a little romance.
I cannot wait to get stuck in to the next book.
