Murder the Tey Way by Marilyn Levinson is the second book in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub series. It follows Dr. and Professor Lexie Driscoll as she tries to solve the murder of a man found dead in her backyard. Months after moving in and without a clear knowledge of the people around her, Lexie searchs for answers. This book also contains a little bit of romance and a lot of secrects. Just like book 1, this book is perfect if you’re looking for a quick whodunit mystery with a strong female lead. Definitely meant to be read as a series as events build and old characters pop back up.

Lexie Driscoll is a woman who loves reading and so has taken over organising the local book club, the “Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub” to be exact, and this week they are talking about Josephine Try:s latest book, but something isn’t right at this evening’s book club, the members who are all both neighbours and friends are distracted by things in their own lives and are not really concentrating. Unfortunately, for Lexie things go from bad to worse when someone is caught peeping through her window and one of the attendees goes after them, when they return, Lexie decides to postpone the evening.While all this was happening, Lexie’s sister Gayle turns up distressed and scared after driving straight to Lexie’s from her home, but when she tells Lexie what has happened the next morning, another surprise is waiting on the lawn, the peeping tom from last night, dead! This is where Gayle speeds away again and leaves Lexie in a mess, who was the man and what was he doing there? The police are called and the investigation started, however, things are not all that they seem.
Lexie decides to focus on what is happening with her Bookclub while the police deal with the dead man, but when she asks the questions, she finds that there are more secrets to be unveiled and skeletons which want to escape the closets they are trapped in, but in true Lexie form, she asks what would Tey do and follow where the clues take her, but will she be able to untangle the knot of deceit, denial and revelations as more deaths pile up and the mystery deepens in this cozy mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book so I was rather excited to settle down and get lost in between the pages of this one ….
Lexie is living a quiet life , raising her daughter , earning her PHD , kindling a new relationship , running her book club , life seems good .
She gets a surprise visit from her sister Gayle whom she’s not seen in years , there’s a peeping Tom at their bookclub that then turns up dead on her lawn and it turns out he has mob links 🙈them her sister drops a bit of a bombshell and is on the run again.and I think I may have more questions than she does 🤣🙈 there’s a mystery to solve and it seems our book club members have their own secrets 🤔
There were a few plot twists and unexpected moments but all in all a good read that let me “ escape “
After “ attending” book club I actually went and got my hands on a Josephine Tey and can’t wait to delve into it 🥰📚

Murder the Tey Way is the second book of the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub series. The book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone story. I enjoyed the first book in the series as it focused on Agatha Christie’s stories. This book uses the works of Josephine Tey as the backdrop of a new mystery for Lexie to solve. Though there are some backstories involved the author quickly gets the reader up to date (in case they missed book 1 in the series) and some new characters. Lexie’s book club has had an interesting past with murder amongst the members and this brings a new murder to the forefront. Unfortunately, Gayle (Lexie’s sister) looks to be the prime suspect. Will Lexie find out the truth in time? The writing is done well incorporating the books the group is reading into their own murder mystery. It is a light cozy mystery read. I enjoy the characters, the plot, and this book has renewed my interest in Josephine Tey’s writing. I look forward to reading more in this series.

This is the second book in A Golden Age of Mystery Book club series. I would recommend reading the first book just so you get an idea of the characters involved but other than that it could be read as a standalone as each case is separate. This is a cosy mystery, filled with intrigue, danger, secrets, lies and deceit all culmantating in a murder mystery that turns out to be just as thrilling as the ones the book club read.
When Lexie’s sister Gayle arrives at her home fearing for her life during the book club meeting. Lexie knew she needs to figure out what was happening. When a dead body is discovered in her garden Gayle confesses she is scared for her life after witnessing something horrific, she isn’t save so she flees again leaving Lexie with a dead body and a mystery that needs to be solved. Who was responsible for the murder? Was is the people who are after Gayle or was it someone closer to home? And with members of the book club hiding secrets and not being who they seem will she get to the bottom of this case? This story gives a nod to the author Josephine Tey which I like how each story pays tribute to a different authors writing style.

The story centers around the FMC of Lexie Driscoll who is in the middle of a Golden Age of Mystery Book Club meeting when her sister, Gayle, suddenly arrives. Gayle is on edge, nervous, and appears to be running from something or someone. When a body is discovered in her backyard, and her sister has suddenly vanished, Lexie gets pulled into the middle of a murder mystery that she must solve. This book series keeps improving as each new book builds up the suspense with each new mystery happening to the club members. I was shocked that there were so many deaths and injuries this time, having the drama continue to build up and the suspense grows as I read each page. I had my suspicions and was happy to see I was right about who the guilty party was, but boy the author had me working to solve the mystery as there are so many different leads to follow about every character in the book club. We get to continue following the lives of our book club members from the first book in the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club series as they explore their love for mysteries and Tey’s adventures. I am curious if the books that the group is reading are real because I’m intrigued to read them if they are, and if they aren’t then the author should consider writing them because the stories that the book club is reading have me just as intrigued as the story that I’m following along. This book is full of amazing past characters as well as lots of new characters that you get to know, guiding the reader to have even more suspicious characters to suspect of wrongdoings. Although I’m not familiar with Josephine Tey and her mystery novels, I really enjoyed this book that clearly referenced her works. I thought this was a well put together mystery story that easily pulled me in to what was happening. I wanted to see how everything would play out and how it would all tie together. As this second book, this is a great continuation of the series. I enjoyed reading immediately and loved the overall feel and pace to the book. I was intrigued by the story the author has created and I am looking forward to the next book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Though I have never heard of this author, Tey, I may have to check them out. Part of what makes these stories so good is the book club. Somehow, they found another murder amongst them again. Lexie is determined to solve it again. This author is one of those that I can’t put down. Her mysteries are engaging and grab your attention. I love reading about this club. They have the nuttiest interactions and you know they have secrets. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

This was a fun read! Lexi’s book club is meeting again and this time they are discussing the way that Josephine Tey handled mysteries. Lexi gets a call from her long lost sister who soon shows up on her doorstep under mysterious circumstances. The next day, Lexi finds a dead guy in her backyard and her sister is packing up and getting away as quickly as possible. Lexi is sure her sister has nothing to do with the guy in her backyard but does she really know her sister?

Lexie finds herself involved in another murder mystery when a body ends up in her backyard. Her sister has also shown up scared to death because she witnessed her boyfriend being killed. When she finds out about the dead man in Lexie’s backyard she takes off. While investigating the murder of the man in the backyard she finds out that some of her book club members are hiding some things from her. Are their secrets connected to the murders? Then one of her members ends up murdered. Lexie is so worried and confused and trying her best to solve this crazy mystery before someone else ends up dead. I love when a book starts off and immediately sucks you in. There is enough carried over from the first book that you feel informed, but it’s explained enough that reading it as a standalone probably wouldn’t be confusing. The friendship Lexie has with her new neighbor Joy makes it seem like she didn’t recently move in. They almost seem like they’ve been friends much longer. I was excited to have both Al and Brian in this book as Lexie works through her personal life. I also enjoyed learning more about Lexie’s past and family having her sister and son more involved.

Murder the Tey Way is book #2 in the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club by Marilyn Levinson. Lexie is back and finds herself involved in another mystery. She gets a surprise call from her sister Gayle as she prepares for her book club. The next morning she finds a dead body in her yard. Everyone is a suspect, from Gayle to the book club members. There are lots of twists and the author keeps you guessing. This was truly a cozy mystery. A warm fire and blanket would have made this experience perfect. The characters were both what you would expect and not simultaneously. I enjoyed the bit of romance and the little triangle that Lexi finds herself in. This was a wonderful story. Very enjoyable for cozy mystery fans.

I really enjoyed reading the second book in the series. It gave me a chance to reconnect with some of the characters in the first book.
This could be read as a stand alone book or the series can be read in order. If I were you, I would get the first book and read them in order because I enjoyed them both so much.
Someone was killing off the book club members and Lexie and her friend Joy were trying to help find out who it was. Check out the book I think you will enjoy it.

This is the second book in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub. After reading the first book, I knew that I needed to pick this one up! This author has a way of keeping you on your toes. I love a good mystery and especially love when I cannot figure out who it was. I have never read any books from Josephine Tey, but I think that is about to change. I could not put this book down! The next installment in the series and it did not disappoint! I love the homage Levinson is paying to different murder-mystery legends throughout this series. Lexie is a favorite character of mine. I love her grit and determination to find out whodunit. There are so many twists and turns in this novel that I got whiplash! I love Levinson’s writing style and the way she develops her characters. She also keeps her plot line on point and moving. I will say that I found this plot to be a little complex, but I loved it. If you are looking for something that will make you sit down and think while you’re reading, then pick up this one! Reviewed by @meggs1717

Having read and enjoyed the first book in this series I was looking forward to being back with amateur sleuth Professor Lexie Driscoll, and I was not disappointed. Once again I wished I could be a member of her ‘Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub’! This time they are discussing Josephine Tey’s (a favourite author of mine) books. However, Lexie gets a surprise when her sister Gayle turns up and is terrified for her life. Gayle was a witness to her boyfriend’s murder and now fears his killers could come for her. When a man’s body is found in Lexie’s backyard, Gayle runs. Lexie decides to investigate and is determined to discover the truth. She soon learns that the bookclub members have secrets. Lexie has to contend with more murders and unexpected revelations as she investigates. I was once again drawn into Lexie’s world, along with quirky characters and an intriguing whodunnit. The descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The plot of Josephine Tey’s novels are cleverly weaved into the storyline and help Lexie in her investigations. The plot kept me guessing due to the numerous red herrings, which I enjoy. An enjoyable and engaging cozy mystery and I look forward to being back with the bookclub soon.

Murder the Tey Way is the second book in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub, and it was as good as the first one.
Lexie Driscoll has found herself embroiled in yet another murder mystery. Her sister, Gayle, whom she hasn’t seen in years, shows up, and she is terrified. She witnessed her boyfriend being killed, and she now lives in fear. She is confident the killer is now coming after her. Not long after Gayle’s arrival, they discover a dead man in Lexie’s backyard. After getting the story from her sister, Gayle flees again.
As she becomes involved in this investigation, she also discovers her bookclub members have secrets, and then a member of her bookclub is also murdered. Are the two murders connected, and what are the members of the club hiding?
As with the first book, the twists, turns, and pacing make it a great mystery. There is also some added romance. Lexie finds herself torn between two men who are completely different from one another, yet both could give her a life she yearns for. However, she has her own issues with commitment to work through. She fears making a grave mistake again, making it hard to trust anyone. I also enjoyed the references to Josephine Tey.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and to seeing what new crime our favorite professor will be involved in.

Murder the Tey Way is the second intriguing book in the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club series by Marilyn Levinson. This is a cozy, whodunnit mystery done with a nod to ‘Josephine Tey’ – whose counterpart/fellow author, Agatha Christie, was featured in the first book. This is another well woven and engrossing mystery with plenty of tension, suspense, drama, interesting characters, secrets, and crime & investigation. Lexie Driscoll is pulled into another mystery when murder strikes in her own backyard. With her sister the prime suspect, the stakes are pretty high- so Lexie is determined to unravel the mystery and uncover the killer- reflecting on the stories of Josephine Tey to help her ‘solve’ the crime. Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Levinson does next. Happy Reading…

After reading Murder a la Christie the first fun book in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub I thought I would take a look at this book. Murder the Tey Way is a carefully woven modern day “Whodunnit”. In the first book we met Lexie and her Bookclub buddies who were using Agatha Christies style to find a killer. Now they are embroiled in another murder mystery but do it the way of Josephine Tey another accomplished writer in her time. I sense a theme here and I like it. Marilyn has once again given us a multilayered web of complex puzzles to wade. There is drama, danger, intrigue, mystery, suspense, tension, and suspense. There is a lot to unravel, layers to peel back and work through when Lexie’s sister finds her boyfriend murdered and then she goes missing. With a cast of many eclectic characters everyone is a suspect in this engrossing read. Murder the Tey Way is a good cosy mystery with lots of secrets.

This is the second book in the Golden Age of Mystery Bookclub series, and since I loved the first one so much I knew I had to pick up this one as well. I’ve read a few books by this author, and they definitely have a unique writing style that I enjoy. The way they are able to craft their mysteries is wonderful! I love it when a book can keep me on my toes and guessing the entire way through, but I am always hard-pressed to find one. I found myself unable to figure out what was going to happen as the plot thickened with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I blew through this entire book in one day! Are you ready for an intriguing and entertaining mystery that will have you yearning for more? Look no further because this one takes the cake! I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us.
