WOW where do I even start to describe how amazing this book was?! It held my attention until the very end was jam packed with a unique storyline that had me on pins and needles. This is a horror story that is mixed with mystery as to how everyone is getting sick and becoming mutated. This book is the thing that nightmares are made of and are EXACTLY why this book is so great. It is a great example of what could happen in the future due to overfishing. I cannot wait to start the second book and see what happens next.

Hell Hath No Fury (Life Is Hell Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Angela Hayes

Hell Hath No Fury (Life is Hell #2)Hell Hath No Fury by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Hell Hath No Fury is the second stellar instalment in the Life is Hell series, by Naomi Valkyrie. I adored the first book in the series- so this book came with very high expectations. I am happy to say that Ms. Valkyrie didn’t let me down- she delivered everything I could have hoped for…. and more! I love this every bit as much as the first, and I wasn’t sure that would be possible!
I loved Sheridan from the moment I met her back in book one. She is the zany, vivacious, irreverent, sexy, and sassy Hedonism demon- and Delilah’s best friend (Book #1). I was really excited that she would get her own book, as I knew she would be a hoot to follow- and she sure doesn’t disappoint- but also brings a depth and complexity that I didn’t expect, which made me love her even more!!!
As I have mentioned a few times now, but it is worth repeating- Naomi Valkyrie has a talent for telling a wonderful, original, and captivating fantasy. Weaving a dynamic story full of texture, layers- with rich and vivid detailing. Her clever and imaginative touches bring her story, and characters, to life- making me feel like I’m right there watching everything as it unfolds, as much a part of the story as the characters themselves.
Hell Hath No Fury is a superb fantasy, with wonderful paranormal characters and elements, demons, magic, humour, mystery, action, secrets, sizzling chemistry, danger, discovery, and more than a few surprising developments- as well as a wonderful f/f romance.
Just Fantastic!!!!
Now I really can’t wait to get my hands on Book #3!!!

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

The Inheritance: The Story of an Unlikely Submissive – Review by Colleen Noyes

The InheritanceThe Inheritance by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Inheritance by India Kells, was a quick read that I breezed right through. With the book only being 92 pages I was concerned about character development but was extremely pleased. You were able to get to know plenty about Lani and Max and regardless of how they were initially brought together you fell in love with them. The writing style was fast paced without a bunch of fluff and it was pure story. I was left wanting more and hope that the author considers a whole series of these two characters. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to delve into all her stories.

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Colleen Noyes

The Light at DawnThe Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Light at Dawn By KL Montgomery Is a book that will truly rip your heart out, tear it to shreds, stomp on it, and then slowly put it back together. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was not prepared for all of the emotions that it would make me feel. I found myself crying, laughing, and wondering about the world around me. This book is about so much more than one story it is about grief, heartache, overcoming all of the obstacles that life may throw at you, and at the end of the day love.

This book will make you feel emotions that you didn’t know you could feel. I could not have chosen a better first book to read by this author than this one. While it does deal with sensitive issues the author does a brilliant job of making sure you have no idea where she stands on the issue itself. You can tell that the author did an immense amount of research and portrayed the differences In a very humane and compassionate way.

One of the key things that I feel the book shows that maybe it wasn’t intended Is something that I think is so needed in today’s society. This author showed that 2 people or 2 groups can be on opposite ends of an issue, but still care about each other, love each other, and continue to make the world a better place.

I could not put this book down from the time that I started it until the time that I finished it and I don’t believe that you will either. The one warning that I would give you Is to make sure that you have your box of tissues prepared.

Saving Beck by Courtney Cole – Review by Colleen Noyes

Saving BeckSaving Beck by Courtney Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Several years ago, I saw a cover of this book on Amazon and it wowed me so I bought the book without reading any of the reviews or the synopsis. The first couple of pages dropped my jaw and I went “WTF am I reading?” because I find it impossible to not finish a book I start, I continued reading and to this day it is in my top 5 best books ever. The entire series blew me away and I fell in love with that author, Courtney Cole.

Fast forward a little over 4 years later and I see she has written a new book called Saving Beck. If you have ever been touched by addiction especially as the loved one of an addict then this book will touch you in so many ways. The author takes a very serious epidemic and weaves it into a heart wrenching story on so many levels. This book will showcase how even when you think it can’t happen to your family, you can never predict. It shows that no matter who you are it can happen to you.

This book had me in tears from beginning to end because I could feel the hurt, the questions, the frustration, the pain, the self-questioning and most importantly the realization that no matter how much you love someone, no matter how much you love the addict, no matter how much you give, sacrifice, and try to mend them, only they can mend themselves. Only they can make the end choice to move forward. It reminds you, that it’s not your battle, that you can’t love them out of the addiction, you can’t anger them out of the addiction, you can’t guilt or beat them out of the addiction, and that sometimes all you can do is sit back, love, hope, and most of all pray that it all works out, knowing that not everyone can be saved.
Courtney Cole, writes this story with such truth and gusto. Her words grab you by the heart and squeeze. She brings you to tears and to your knees, and makes you “hear” all the things you don’t want to hear as the loved one.

Some of my favorite quotes were :

“ Doing drugs is easy. Doing life is hard. And sometimes, we have to hide from it in the best ways we can”

“ People like to carry their burdens with them, she said. We feel like if we punish ourselves long enough for everything that has gone wrong in life, we’ll somehow make it right again by our own misery.”

“They have him on medication to help the withdrawal, but it’s still a struggle for him. Beck is the one who has to do the heavy lifting. He’s the one who lives with the constant need to use. All I can do is be there for him.”

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel #2 by Lynda Filler ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I WANT TO GO TO MEXICO! It is literally freezing and we had a blizzard warning last weekend with a watch for one this weekend. I have been fighting a nasty pneumonia for a month and been in and out of the hospital and surgery, but this wonderful adventure in Shoot Me took me far far away from it all on a hot and steamy trip down south. If you haven’t had the chance to read Lie to Me I would highly recommend it, this book is a direct continuation of that one. In fact it literally picks up where that one left off ‘three weeks and eighteen hours’ from the first book. You will be a bit confused as to why our MC, Layla, is where she is and why.

Layla is just a tad still reeling from the way that Mateo left her hanging with that simple note and his disappearing act. Her writing career has taken of and she is signed for a new deal so between her bummed heart and her need for some writing material she does the only thing she can think of. She sets out to drown out his memory and make some new ones. Why not? Everyone knows the best way to get over one mistake is to make a few one night mistakes right? Well this is where the hot (and I do mean hot!) and exciting writing from Lynda Filler really gets going! We meet some great new men and Layla finds herself in some pretty interesting situations. I found myself laughing, fanning myself, and often just hanging my mouth open wondering what would come next. Filler never ceases to keep me hooked from page one till the end, and reeling for the next book to come out as soon as possible. (Hint. Hint. I NEED it soon Ms. Filler LOL) I can’t bear to give much more away. For more juicy details you will just have to one click the book. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I may just have to go back and read the first book while I wait for the next in the series! Happy reading!

A Must for Christmas: A Darling Cove Novella by Deborah Garland

5 Stars

Please say this is not the end of the Darling Cove stories…I have grown to love these people so much and I don’t want this to end. Someone else kind of came into the picture a little stronger in this book and I would love to see her get her own story, maybe there’s a long lost Mallory cousin out there somewhere..LOL or maybe Dad deserves a story…

This book took my breath away, there were a few parts that scared me to death thinking oh my goodness no this can’t happen. I loved returning to Faith and Greg even though it was full of scary moments and a lot of secrets that threatened everything these two fought so hard for. The way this family pulls together was so heart warming and that is one of my favorite parts of these books.

This author has quickly become one of my favorites and I will be following her from here on and will be one clicking whatever I can get my hands on.

Thank you Miss Garland for a beautifully written series with some amazing characters and please don’t let this be the end!! I already want to reread all of them!

Loved It!!

***********************
I finished this masterpiece yesterday evening, I read the whole book yesterday, I just couldn’t stop, I needed to stop to do normal everyday life things but ended up not doing the laundry that needed to be done and having to explain to the hubby that dinner was whatever he found in the fridge because I was a total and complete wreck during this book and for about an hour afterwards. So now here I sit trying to figure out a way to put down in words just what I thought of this story!

When I first decided to read it it was the cover that drew me in, then it was the reviews that were already coming in, then it was the words this author so brilliantly wove together…I can honestly and truthfully with no doubts say that I’ve got many favorites for this year so far but this one went right to the top of that list in record speed. I was scared when I saw how long the book was and normally I would end up doing some skimming but that did not happen, I savored every single word, every single emotion, every single thought and action that took place within the pages of this story. There were parts I didn’t like but those parts made up the whole of the book and without them it wouldn’t have felt as real.

There is no way to sum up this story because it would be like summing up everyday life and that’s just not possible…This author took me on a journey through real life and everything that comes with that. I am just in awe at how perfectly everything just worked and I truly felt every single word..My heart hurt, I smiled, I got so angry I wanted to hit something, I cried and I forgave things I never thought I would, I have become completely and totally emotionally invested in these people..All of them and I want more, I can not wait for the next part.

This is one of those stories that having it sit on your kindle is just not enough, I will wait for the series to end and have the entire collection on my bookshelf where my all time favorites live.

Phenomenal!! Brilliant!!

By Claire Luana

After reading the Confectioner’s Guild book 1 in this series it was completely awesome to go back and read Hale’s story. I don’t normally like doing this but it worked perfectly for me in this case. I was able to get a much better understanding of who Hale is and where he came from, and the lessons and the tragic losses he experienced along the way.

I really liked Hale in The Guild but spent a few too many pages completely angry at him, and although he was able to redeem himself in the end it did help having this part of his story and knowing I was right to like him so much!

I can not wait for the next in this series, there are stories brewing and I can not wait to dive back in and see what sort of adventures these characters have in store for them. I highly recommend this series and where you read this book whether before or after book one should not matter in my opinion but I’m glad I read it after I read the guild.

This author is completely amazing, I am always drawn in immediately where some books take me a few pages. I know I can always count on this author to give me something I would not normally read and make me fall in love.

Loved It!!!

Neverland by Melissa Jane ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

NeverlandNeverland by Melissa Jane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

521. That, is how many reviews that I currently have on Goodreads right now. So, to say that I have experience writing one is pretty valid. Well, ‘Neverland’ has completely thrown me for a loop. I finished this novel in one sitting a few evenings ago and it has consumed my thoughts since. I still can’t figure out how to do this novel justice with my review. Honestly, I will sincerely do my best, but all I can say for sure is you have to read this one for yourself. Especially, if you are a dark and twisty novel fan like myself. Do not let the warnings get to you. Yes it is a dark book. It is not all flowers and sunshine. Guess what? Life is not flowers and sunshine people! These books that touch us so much are often the ones that are so realistic, because they are relatable. We can see more of ourselves in the characters.

These characters will do just that too. They will suck you in. Every single piece of you. Heart and soul. I was so invested. Every time something happened, good or bad, to the characters I felt it too. My heart broke to a million tiny pieces. Honestly, it still hurts. Especially after that ending. It all makes so much sense now, but I have a feeling this book will stay with me for a long time. Now that I have read ‘Neverland” I have to read another Melissa Jane novel. I have been scouring her works and adding them to by TBR list for days. I do believe that I will start with ‘Little Doll’ next. That one is a part of a series. Thank you so much for this wonderful and mind-blowing novel Melissa Jane. It truly blew me away and left me speechless. This goes on my top ten reads of 2018 list!

The Confectioner’s Guild (The Confectioner Chronicles Book 1) by Claire Luana ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

The Confectioner's Guild (The Confectioner Chronicles, #1)The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Enchanted & cloyingly sweet! I absolutely loved every second I spent with Wren! Claire Luana was a completely new author to me, but I can assure you this will soon be remedied. I have become enthralled with the magical writing skills that she possesses. First, I must start with this amazing cover. I was drawn in with its beautiful colors and enchanting design. Who wouldn’t want to find out what lays behind that? Given I hadn’t known the author previously, I simply went in blind, and wasn’t I pleasantly pleased!

Do not be fooled however. This isn’t so sweet and wholesome as it looks. Hence my cloyingly description. Wren is the very best of bakers. She enjoys what she does and it comes out in her baking. She loves being in her little corner of the world making her masterpieces. Unfortunately, when the Guildmaster calls you must oblige. So oblige she does. This is where things go a bit awry. As mentioned in the teaser his is poisoned and she is to blame! Why would simple and sweet Wren poison the Guildmaster!?

Well this has left her in a tortuous bind. She has merely ONE month to collect her proof that she did not commit the crime she has been accused of or else… To make matters worse she has no alliances and no family now when she needs them the most. What will she do? The journey she will take will be sure to keep you engaged and entertained well beyond your bedtime. I know it did for me. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the next book, ‘The Confectioner’s Exile.’ Thanks so much for such a fantastic read Claire Luana!

Love On a Limb: A Love Story For All Seasons by Laurie Lewis

5 Stars…it deserves so many more!

With tears in my eyes as I just finished reading this amazing work of art I couldnt wait one second to jump in here and review this book!

I have read so many books this year, and in my life. Ive many times read and been touched by a book and claimed that it was my favorite for that year or whatever. I can honestly, straight from the heart say that NO BOOK has ever touched me the way this book has. Books often grip me and take my emotions on a ride but this one, this one will hold on forever. Im praying I’ll someday find that she has a paperback of this book because I need this in my life and on my shelf.

This is not the first book I’ve read by this author, I’ve loved her way of words, her way of grabbing a hold and hanging on, these people she writes about are so so real. If there is an even remote possibility that there is a negative to mention about this story, it’s only that it ended and I could have read about these two amazing people for days. Matt is the ultimate Book Boyfriend and I will compare every male lead to him from this point on. Mikaela follows suit with being the ultimate heroine.Watching these two progress from where they started to where they ended up was written so beautifully and has tore my heart right out of my chest. I don’t know what to say except that this was a brilliantly awesome amazing piece of writing. Every single emotion that should have been felt while reading this I promise was felt and I could not hold back the tears during some of the scenes. This strengthened my belief in hope, promises, miracles, and prayers as well as things definitely not turning out like you thought they would.

Many Many Thanks to Miss Lewis for a story that rises above and sets the bar high for all the stories I will still read in my future, some Ill love, some I won’t, but this one will always stand up as one of the greatest. I already can’t wait to reread it!!

Fighting Solitude (On the Ropes, #3) by Aly Martinez – Review by Colleen Noyes

Fighting Solitude (On the Ropes, #3)Fighting Solitude by Aly Martinez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading Fighting Solitude by Aly Martinez in one sitting left me completely and utterly drained. This series has such a special place in my heart as I have watched the Page brothers overcome all of life’s detriments, obstacles, hurts, and deaths. I have cried, laughed, and cried some more.

Quarry’s story was no different for me than Till and Flint’s. It left me feeling raw emotionally and sad that the series has come to an end. The pain that Quarry felt when losing Mia is something anyone who has ever lost someone would know. The hurt, the anger, the betrayal all felt by this beautiful man was understandable.

Quarry Page is a hot, sexy man who for many years has had the heart of a young boy. The demons he has been forced to fight whether it be abandonment, physical ailments, or the feeling of helplessness in protecting those he loves has consumed him. The last thing he wants is to let down the people he loves and he feels he has had a lifetime of doing nothing but that since he seems to never be able to keep them safe.

Liv, has had to endure her own demons thanks to her p.o.s mother. She is strong but fragile. She has always sacrificed her own needs and desires for those around her and staying away from the only boy she ever loved falls into that category. No matter how much she loves Quarry she just can’t forget that with him she is not safe. The pain and anguish she feels realizing that is like a punch in the stomach.

While Liv continuously tries to navigate the balance between hiding her feelings and being a best friend to Quarry you can feel how it destroys her a little bit more each day. For her, having a piece of him, even as a best friend is better than having none of him.

The bond they share over Mia to the naked eye seems to be out of place. Some won’t understand the Mia aspect of the story but what I found was a key paragraph that for me put it all in perspective and became necessary in the catalyst for a part of each of their lives. Mia took two broken people and helped heal them in a way maybe no one else could from the pains of their past.

Can Quarry ever return Liv’s feelings? Will Liv ever share her feelings? As the story progresses and certain things from the past come to light I think it all falls right into place. I think that Quarry and Liv each end up exactly where they are meant to be. I also feel that Aly Martinez did a great job of tying up each of the Page brother’s stories and tying up a few “loose ends”. As usual her writing was fluid, heartfelt, and she never missed a beat.
