A great cozy mystery to get sucked in to. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Logan has great character development. She goes through an awful lot but doesn’t let any of it keep her down. After a lot of loss, she must find something to do with the rest of her life. This book is loaded with real life issues mixed into a fictional story. You can start to relate to the main character and you really start to care for her.

After enjoying book 1 in this series I was looking forward to seeing what Logan would be doing in this second book and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author told an exciting, gripping read which kept me turning the pages. Her writing is engaging and exciting. I really like the main character Logan, she just has something about her that makes you like her instantly. I liked the differing POV’s in the book it meant that the story had more depth to it in my opinion. There were a few sensitive topics within the books but I felt he author dealt with them really well and respectfully. I can’t wait to see what happens with Logan in the next book!

I hate to admit this but ai started reading these books around book four or five and then read books one through three. All have been great and all can be read individually without needing to read any of the others. I do however highly suggest reading all of them because you will fall in love with the characters. This is book two of this series and we see Logan dipping her toes back into the dating scene having started a new relationship. On a trip to Portland, Oregon she makes a new friend in Than, a Vietnamese vet trying to get back on his feet and owner of a food truck. When an explosion destroys Than’s truck, he is one if the main suspects. Logan is determined to help get him cleared as a suspect and find the true culprit. Not knowing anyone on the force in Portland and not having her normal access to any evidence she is on her own. Who can she trust? This was a really exciting read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a little out of my usual reading comfort zone but it was nice to read something a little different. The pace of the story was really good and the characters were well developed. The book was easy to read and follow. The authors descriptions in the story are pretty vivid so it was quite easy to imagine what was going on – probably not a book to be reading before bed I have to admit! The main character Logan was a likeable and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about her in future books.

In the second book in the Logan McKenna series, the author brings different perspectives of an incident and shows the wide range of characters in the story. I am really enjoying how the perspective of the characters come together to bring better understanding of the crime. There was a lot more action in this book compared to the first book. I again liked Logan’s character and hope we get to understand more of her background.

With her husband Jack passing due to a car accident, Logan McKenna must continue living and find ways to survive. Although teaching didn’t seem to pan out, Logan continues to find her place in the world. Maybe it’s through helping friends at their booth at an arts festival. A dead body is found in one of the other booths and the police suspect Logan’s friend is the killer. Logan feels a great need to help her friend. This book is well written and I enjoyed learning about the main character Logan. She’s a strong woman who cares for others and I can easily relate to her. The world building helped put the story together. A good mystery book and a new series I’m looking forward to read more books by this author.

Valerie, girl! I loved this book! I was hooked on the first book but I absolutely devoured this one! I LOVE when books have different POV’s!!! It’s my favorite. When you can read and feel from other characters, it just makes me that much more connected. And the author has such a gift when she talks about sensitive topics in her stories. One of the many reasons why she’s becoming an author I’m looking up and finding more books of hers! I’m quickly becoming a fan. Highly encourage you to read this!

Author has a fantastic way of describing every detail to the point where I could see everything as she’s describing it. This mystery thriller had me turning the pages because I needed to know what happens next. The MFC is a character that I instantly fell in love with. A lot of the times they’re annoying but I absolutely loved Logan!! She’s been through quite a bit but that doesn’t stop her! Such a strong female lead and I’m here for it. If you want a good book full of thrill, suspense and murder! Read this! Now I’m onto the second book of the series!

Notebook Mysteries ~ A Party to Remember was such a great an easy read to fall into! My last book was super deep and dark and this was exactly what I needed. I was not aware that it was a series, but the author did a wonderful job introducing all the characters in such a way that I was able to keep up but I feel would not have been redundant to those who did not jump right into the middle. A definite page turner, I was captivated all the way from cover to cover. Would definitely recommend!

Birdie Harper has a problem…she’s a bit of a collector. Well, collector might be an understatement. She’s a full-blown hoarder!
Birdie doesn’t see it that way though. She considers herself a finder of lost treasures, and the only thing Birdie loves more than a great deal at a yard sale is to head to the parking lot of her favorite hobby store and search through their dumpster for bright new shiny things.
One day, during one of her dives, Birdie makes a horrific discovery…the dead body of a young woman she had a soft spot for. Determined to find out who murdered her friend, Birdie drags along her recently deceased husband Walter (who obviously has problems of his own!), and her long-suffering sister, Oda Dean, as back-up.
But the murderer is paying attention, and if Birdie’s not careful, the next body dying in a dumpster will be her own!
Bells are ringing, people are singing and Christmas is coming. The family is planning a wedding for Christmas Eve. They are all working to make it an event to remember.
Before that can happen an invitation arrives to a party. Emma is immediately suspicious-why were they invited, why was it in Chicago and not New York City? Is Emma overreacting or is something up at the party?
All I want is London Fog ! I tried making it myself and it didn’t quite hit the spot , then I tried out local barista and she looked at me like I’ve gone quite mad 🤣 the craving is strong !!!!
Naomi snd Ella move to Fayette after she inherited a house and they’re in need of a fresh start and after living a sad but luxurious life this will do them both good . Naomi was married to a real snob and after the divorce he manipulated everything , she couldn’t find a job and the settlement was pathetic and because money is power she was having a time finding a job no thanks to her influential ex so this move was the perfect opportunity…,
I think they’ll enjoy this adventure …. Then they find a body in their shed and my heart drops but then they meet their neighbours , Barbra and Isabel and my heart starts beating again 😍
Barbra and Ingrid are the best , they loves their tea , Ingrid collects teapots and tea is the solution to any crisis or celebration! …..
Ella and Naomi stay with Barbra and Isabel while they wait for the heating to be fixed in their house and that’s how a beautiful friendship is formed and the sleuthing begins ….
I read this , finished it and read it again straight after , that’s how much I enjoyed this read ! I can’t wait to read every other book in this series ! I laughed at the banter between these people , the copious amounts of tea made and drunk and the mystery of who and why a woman was murdered was most entertaining 🫶🏼

This was my first read by the author and I can say…I wasn’t disappointed at all! I found this book to be a thrilling murder mystery mixed with quite a bit of movie and musical references, which just made the book that much better! Darcy finds herself in a unique situation as being a number one suspect to murder! Darcy just can’t fathom how this predicament came about, but the one thing that she knows is that she needs to find a way to prove her innocence. This was a fun small town mystery that had plenty of twists and turns! I enjoyed every second of reading this book. I found out that this book was part two of a series, but not once did I feel lost, the author did a great job of writing the backstory into this book. I will be going back to read the first book because this one was so good! I definitely recommend reading this one as it was definitely enjoyable!

Concert Hall Hit is a Cozy Mystery that will have you turning the pages while on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written . This is the perfect Cozy Mystery to curl up on the couch on a rainy day and get lost in the pages. The characters are developed, relatable and real and make the story come to life. I was so invested in Darcy and what was going on in this story that I had no idea of the time. What would you do if you were the last person to see someone alive? What if you were considered their number one suspect? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I enjoyed it so much that I’m picking up the first now though! The author did a great job building a realistic world and taking you on a fun mystery adventure. Darcy has her work cut out for her because a famous musician ends up dead in his dressing room…and she’s the suspect. This book really keeps you on your toes with the guessing game of whodunnit. Concert Hall Hit by J.C. Kenney follows music store owner Darcy Gaughan while she solves the mysterious murder of legendary British blues guitarist Derek Tufnell.
This book is such a fun and quick read full of lovable (and maybe a few not so lovable) characters who pull you in from the first page. The plot twists, turns, and weaves into the coziest of mysteries that will make you want to grab your record player.

Concert Hall Hit is Book Two in the Darcy Gaughan Mystery series. It is a cozy murder mystery story that centers around the sudden and mysterious death of legendary British blues guitarist Derek Tuffnell. He had been signing autographs mere hours earlier during a meet and greet at Darcy Gaughan’s record store which makes her the prime suspect in his murder. To clear her name, Darcy takes it upon herself to solve Derek’s murder. As she starts digging into the case and unraveling the clues the list of suspects grows.
This was a brilliantly written cozy murder mystery that will have you trying to solve the mystery alongside our MC Darcy. I loved the small-town setting to the story and all the music references. The storyline was compelling and draws you into the story, and the characters were well developed. Darcy is a character that is lovable and relatable. She is smart, talented, strong, tenacious, and determined. Lacking trust in the local police who seem determined to pin Derek’s murder on her, she takes matters into her own hands to solve the case and find the real killer. The ensuing investigation is full of drama, mystery, suspense, and tension. The twists and turns in this murder mystery will keep you on your toes guessing whodunit. I highly recommend this book.

An enjoyable cozy mystery which had me hooked from page one. Main character, record store owner and amateur sleuth Darcy Gaughan is a likeable and relatable character, and one whom I felt instantly engaged with. When a legendary British blues guitarist, Derek Tufnell appears at Marysburg Music, not only is the owner of the store, Darcy excited but so is the whole town. His meet and greet session with the fans before his performance at the Marysburg Center for the Performing Arts, was a great success and Darcy is thrilled with the event. However, only hours later Derek is found murdered in his dressing room, and as Darcy was the last one seen with him suspicion falls on her. Darcy decides to start her own investigation in order to find the real murderer and prove her innocence. It doesn’t take long for her to discover numerous suspects to look into. The characters and the setting of Marysburg, Indiana were brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the story. The storyline had me gripped and the plot kept me guessing as to the outcome of the mystery. An entertaining read, and I look forward to future books featuring Darcy Gaughan.

Darcy is not going to just let them throw her in jail so she starts her own investigation. Once she digs into Derek’s background she finds more suspects than you can shake a stick at. This is the second book in the series which I didn’t initially realise but that wasn’t a problem when reading. There is enough information given about the background to understand previous events and not feel lost reading. I will go back and read the first book later though!
I loved this cozy mystery, it’s one of my favourite genres, and this book certainly lived up to the expectations I had. It was fun, full of adventure and mystery which was cleverly constructed to keep you guessing and trying to solve the mystery alongside Darcy. There were plenty of old school music and film references sprinkled throughout so I was in my element – I was hooked from the first page!
I loved the cast of characters, they were fun and unique which made an already enjoyable book miles better. I loved Darcy and her journey in solving the case and working towards clearing her name.
This was great fun to kick back and relax with, reading something engaging but laid back was just what I needed. I’ve fallen in love with this series and look forward to meeting Darcy again!

This book was enjoyable from word one! I especially love all the music and television/movie references scattered throughout. I did not realize that this book was part of a series. Reading this one as a standalone worked out well, as there was enough backstory throughout this story to catch me up to date on previous events that took place. I do want to go back and read the first book though!
Darcy is a former drummer who owns a music store. Derek is coming to town and he’s an entertainer that’s got a bit of a tarnished reputation. He’s decided to do an apology tour to make it up to his fans for his past behavior. He purposely chose to kick off his tour in Darcy’s hometown due to some history that they’ve had together. The town is all abuzz about Derek’s arrival and upcoming concert. Then the big night comes, the show is a success, and unfortunately, it does not go on as planned. Derek is found murdered in his dressing room. There are several people that are potential suspects and the police are on it. The question is, can they solve it before Darcy can?
I loved the adventure and mystery in this book. It keeps you guessing right up until the end. The curve balls thrown are very clever! As a lover of music, I enjoyed this even more with all the musical references.

The book was a page turner for me and I wanted to know what happens next.

A great mystery story. Through the whole book you think you know who did it but it never is who you think. J.C. Kenney writes in a great way to get your imagination running. The imagery is amazing. The story is full of details and a great read. This can be read as a stand alone even though it’s the second in the series. I have added the first book to my to be read list.

The author does a great job intertwining little hints about who the murderer is (although I figured it out about half way through, but it was still a good read). I appreciated the generations represented, from high school teenagers to older (musicians) senior citizens, and how they worked together to solve the crimes. My favorite character was the less-than-likeable police officer- she had some great snarky lines throughout the book.
It may be a regional thing, but I disliked some of the slang or colloquial language (deets for details, “oh yesi,” “give me your digits” for phone # requests, the leaker for snitch). I did like mention of lesser known artists that I had to go preview their music, such as Chuck Mangione.

Concert Hall Hit: A Darcy Gaughan Mystery is the second book in this series. I have not read the first book in the series and was able to keep everything straight, so never fear if you read it out of order. This is my first book by this author, so I was unsure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with a fun cozy mystery set in the small town of Marysburg. Darcy owns the popular Marysburg Music in town and suddenly becomes suspected of the murder of a visiting musician with a past. Darcy takes charge of clearing her name and solving the mysterious murder because she doesn’t fully trust the police. There are lots of fun and interesting characters that lead the story to the end. The story gives plenty of twists to keep the reader on their toes. I enjoyed this book and will be looking to backtrack and pick up the first book in this series. I recommend if you enjoy cozy mysteries, murder, and music. It is a fun read.

This is a new author for me which I enjoyed reading. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world of suspense and murder. A story about Darcy and how she was the last person to see Derek alive. She is the number one suspect so she starts an investigation on her own. Will Darcy prove her innocence? I found this book to be fast paced and well written. A story that is hard to put down. Darcy made the story interesting and easy to read. I enjoyed what she brought to the story. I enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
