This book was so intriguing and imaginative in a way that fascinated me from the first page. Being from South Louisiana, the lore of old mansions and homes has always been a love of mine. Tess loves adventure and used everything she had to open a shop where she sells vintage clothes. While modeling some of her clothes, Tess has visions of the original owner and her murder. When she meets Trey, she discovers he is a descendant of the accused murderer who wants nothing more than to clear his family’s name. Although he is skeptical, Trey agrees to join Tess in trying to use the visions and an old diary to discover the truth behind the murder.

I loved the way this book was written! The transitions between Tess’ world and the memories transitioned beautifully and were so easy to follow. Tess is spunky and up for anything, which has her diving right into the visions. Trey is her opposite and weary, but his pull to Tess has him agreeing to help her. Their connection is enthralling and kept me turning page after page! I loved joining them on the journey to discover the real story behind the murder connected to Tess’ magical dress.

Noah expected to inherit the family land when his father died. Until he discovered that in order to do that, he has to get married and stay married for a while. With very few available women, it proves to be a struggle. Mary’s father is tired of taking care of her and wants her married. She has the choice of a not so nice man from the past, or a marriage of convenience with Noah. She chose Noah. When the two first get together, they notice all the differences between them and their backgrounds. Mary is sweet and innocent, and wants nothing more than to secure herself a future better than her past. Noah is a man’s man. He is used to living alone and is surprised in many ways by his new wife.

This was such a wholesome story of self discovery and learning to let someone in. The interactions between Noah and Mary are so sweet. I loved getting to know them and seeing them grow and develop in the story. I am looking forward to reading more stories in this collection.

This book roped me in quick and I didn’t look back! Definitely a thrilling page turner. Cate and Patti share a secret that keeps them tied forever. One night changed everything for them when a man died. Even though they have been separated, when the case is reopened, they find their way back together in a time of need!

This story is so well developed! The author has an amazing attention to detail that really fits all the pieces together and builds the characters and story perfectly. It’s a beautiful story of friendship with just enough twists to keep you guessing. This fast paced, action filled book is a perfect read for everyone!

This was such a fun read. Aranha is the last spider shifter alive. She lives a secluded life, always on alert and feeds on those that cause harm to the world. When she meets Dag, a daywalker, she wants nothing to do with him. But he sees nothing but a future with her. Neither really understands the existence of the other, but they find themselves teaming up to face a common enemy.

Aranha is a strong, fierce, warrior of a heroine. She is the kind of character that makes you want to be a stronger woman. When she starts to feel a spark with Dag, she doesn’t know how to handle it, and that is so relatable. She has to soften herself and let him closer to face the task at hand. The fantasy world the author has created is nothing short of magical. The background story is fascinating and like no other I have heard before. I was drawn into their world and found it hard to leave. I would love to read more stories about these creatures.

I loved this story! Gina is a military veteran with a traumatic past. After getting injured in a bomb, she has recovered and is living life with her best friends. Bryce is an arson inspector who is used to being loved by the ladies. Until he meets Gina at a craft fair, who shot him down. When they meet with mutual friends, the chemistry is undeniable.

The connection between these characters was so much fun to experience. Gina is strong willed, independent, and knows what she wants from life. Bryce is cocky, witty and used to getting his way. He is flirty and gives his all to impressing Gina. Gina isn’t sure how much she can let him in with her injuries.

As a military family, this story hits a special place in my heart. Gina is battling with not only self love but letting someone in to know her whole true self. This story is beautiful, fun, lustful, and emotional. I’m so glad I read this book and would love to read the rest of the series!

What a fun and whimsical tale! I loved getting to know these characters. This story of self discovery follows a girl named Amy who realizes she has the ability to fly but has no idea why. As she explores her newfound magical ability, she also tries to find her father. Amy is a lovable character and it was easy to support her on her emotional journey. The magical world created by the author was beautifully imaginative and I could clearly see every detail as I read. The story was an easy and fun read!

This book took my emotions on a journey. There is a warning at the beginning of a book about possible triggers, and I was thankful it was there. This story brought up real challenges that many couples face, and the agony that can be caused. Each character had to face the issue head on and process their feelings in their own way. The journey is raw and emotional, and pulls every heartstring. This is not your typical love story, it is a story of challenging strengths and pushing through for love. I cried, I laughed, I enjoyed the steamy moments, and I could not put it down until the last page. The author is phenomenal and I can not wait to read the next book!

This was such a fun (and steamy) read. The characters are built well with emotional and complex backgrounds that give the perfect picture of who they are. Even though their marriage was a business agreement and they are opposites in so many ways, their undeniable chemistry keeps pulling them together. They both secretly find themselves wondering if they will really part ways when the year ends. I am hooked and can not wait to see what comes next in this series!

This is a beautiful story of family exploration. After the death of her Husband, Lizbeth returns to her hometown in South Carolina. When she gets restless doing family research to answer questions, she travels to a short term job in Rio de Janeiro. When she meets someone with ancestors of the same surname as her, she has no idea that her questions are going to be answered.

This book reads so easily. I found myself turning page after page in each sitting. Our ancestors and heritage helped to create who we are today. The importance of what our ancestors went through shines in this story. The stories and characters are full of so much raw emotion, I felt very connected to them. This is a beautiful, worthwhile read.

This is such a heartfelt rendition of what unwed mothers faced in the 1960s, and even before and after that time. The story follows three women from completely different backgrounds; Faith is a minister’s daughter, Becca comes from a wealthy white family, and Sandra comes from a farm family but ends up homeless and alone. Though each girl has their own unique story, they all find themselves pregnant and sent to a home for unwed mothers in New Orleans where they become roommates. The girls learn to lean on one another and after their babies are born, they each return to their own lives. Twenty five years later, someone who threatens to expose their pasts brings them back together.

This story is unique because you get the perspective of all three women. You get three stories that are so similar but so different at the same time. The characters are well developed and you just fall in love with them right away, wanting to take their pain away and support them. It is so emotional knowing that this is based on real experiences of real women who didn’t have the freedoms we have today. They suffered and had to fight impossible situations where they weren’t given options like we are. It really makes me feel lucky to have the rights I do today.

I loved this sweet, easy read. Alyse died young, and found herself in a town full of ghosts. Everyone has their own way of dealing with being in their little town. Alyse wants to try to bring them all together, thinking a party may be what they need. Little did she know how much she would learn about herself along the way!

This story is full of beautifully developed characters. Each one has their own depth of a life story that makes them relatable. Anyone who reads this book will connect with at least one character! The whimsical way they move around their world is creative. This is a fun way to picture the afterlife, and join Alyse on a journey of discovery.

What a cute Christmas story! Amber has a complicated past that has made her want to avoid Christmas, which is difficult to do in festive Cold Creek. Giovanni moved to Cold Creek to take over his grandmother’s restaurant and make a home for his daughter. When Giovanni meets Amber, he is determined to change her feelings about the holidays.

I love feel good stories. Amber, Giovanni, and the people they are surrounded by are perfectly painted and easy to fall in love with! Their stories are built well and just complex enough to make them relatable. I was sucked right into Cold Creek and before I knew it, the book was ending and I was left wanting more. The ending made me cry happy tears!

Some stories are easy to predict but not this one. This is the dark kind of story that leaves you pondering long after the book has closed. I found myself questioning not only the book but myself and others around me as well. There are very few books that have shaken me the way this one did. Everyone should read this book!

I laughed, I cried, I could not stop reading. Will is battling cancer, and after wanting to give up, he has finally decided he wants to fight for his life. Tori is his girlfriend who wants nothing more than to take care of Will in hopes of spending their lives together. This book gives the raw emotional journey of battling cancer. You get insight from both points of view that send your emotions soaring. Have your tissues ready because you will need them right to the very end!

The reader is guided in a journey of exploring the world they live in to cleanse it of negativity and clutter and create a more magical world for themselves. Magic is everywhere around us in our day to day lives, we just need to know where and how to find it. The simplicity of being surrounded in everyday magic is achievable thanks to this guided journey with personal experience shared by the author. I love the positive vibe from this book and I am thankful it chose me to read it!

What a tangled web to unweave! Sharleen Scott kept me guessing at every turn. Brant is a rancher who recently lost his mother. She left behind a mysterious message for Brant to solve. Add in the fact that he believes someone is trying to kill him due to a string of unfortunate events and you are given quite the mystery to solve! His research sends him to the town of Angel Beach where he meets a bartender he can’t forget. Aubrey just lost her aunt who raised her, and is on the fast track to adventuring the open road on her Harley Davidson motorcycle. Until a handsome cowboy enters her bar and sends her for a loop. Aubrey soon realizes she is being targeted by a stalker and her new cowboy friend may be related.

This story was thrilling as character personalities unfold. I was drawn in and biting my nails at every turn. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, another plot twist sent me guessing. This is the fourth book in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. One thing that I appreciated is that this book is able to be read as a standalone. The characters are introduced and built up in a way that allows readers to dig in and not be lost. I am definitely looking forward to checking out the other books in the series!

My emotions were not ready for the story of Tori and WIll. Tori is a psychologist who spends her extra time comforting terminal patients who are without family and friends. Will is a cancer patient who is determined to die alone. When Tori’s best friend Jenny asks her to meet Will, Tori has no idea what is in store for her. The characters of this story are so beautifully complex. Tori carries some past experiences that make her determined to help those on their deathbed, even if they don’t want the help. She believes in the strength of friendship to help others find peace. Will is stubborn and hurt, afraid of being a burden. He thinks the best choice is to die alone. Slowly, Tori starts to work her way into conversation with him and they soon find a connection.

There are so many realistic and relatable aspects to this story. The pain people go through at the expense of cancer is real. This story shines a light, not only on the feelings of the person that is ill, but the ones that care for them as well. The emotions are so raw I couldn’t hold back tears. I cried, I laughed, I was completely enveloped in the world of Tori and WIll. This is my first Amy Argent book but certainly will noy be my last. I am ready for more, I MUST know what comes next. I will definitely be reading book two!

My heart needed this beautiful story! CC is on a journey of self healing when she crashes her car into a cattle fence in a remote town. Reese owns the fence and rescues CC, offering her shelter in his home. While awaiting the repair of her car, CC and Reese find themselves each facing a difficult past, thus putting distance between them.

I loved CC’s playful, Christmas loving character. The way that she tried to lighten the environment and make it magical is so relatable. I am a lover of Christmas Spirit and would want to create Christmas joy just like she did. Reese seemed to be the strong and silent type, but his story is so complex, it was wonderful to see his layers revealed. I love that Laurie Lewis was able to sprinkle a little faith in there, and bring the love of God to her characters! This story made me feel like I was watching a movie, like I was actually there with Reese and CC. I would love to see their story continue, I NEED to know what happens next!

This is a beautiful story that shares the journey of Scott and Zelda. The story starts with a heart wrenching tragedy and difficult decision that Scott has to make. In the wake of the tragedy, Scott and Zelda find distance in their marriage and they are struggling to heal and find one another again. Add in Zelda’s mental illness and the fact that Scott and their daughter can not only see but talk to ghosts, and you have a rollercoaster of a journey! There were times where this story literally took my breath away. This is the third book in the series, and while I could follow along this fast paced story without getting lost and enjoy every step of the journey, I wish I would have some more of their background to really get to know and better understand the depth of their characters. I am going to go back and read the first two for sure!

The words “unputdownable thriller” are perfect for this book! Shelby Cooper lives a life she created for herself after a rough past, a past she chooses to hide from her family. When Shelby is framed for a murder she didn’t commit, she realizes someone is out to get her, and she thinks her past may be connected. Every step along the way, a piece of the past is revealed, and Shelby is not the only one with secrets. The book did change point of views throughout, making it somewhat confusing. Once I caught on, I was drawn back into the story. Gleade Brown Kabongo created a complex depth of characters and a story that keeps you guessing at every turn. Right until the very last page I was surprised!

AJ Renee has done it again! I read this book in one day. I did not want to put it down. I LOVE the Broderick Coven stories, and Cursed Luck, Book 5, was no exception! Edward Broderick thought he was not meant for love, until the day he met Mia. Mia is spirited and challenging but Edward can not get her out of his mind. As much as Mia doesn’t want to think about him either, not even her Earth magic is enough to keep him from flashing through her mind. Follow them as they navigate this attraction, and decide if they should fight it, or pursue it. AJ Renee gave us two more characters that you love and cheer for. The complex family dynamics, soul searching, lure of magic, and of course the steamy romance, provide the perfect story to tug at your emotions! Definitely another must read!

Where do I even begin to describe the feelings this book brought into my soul? This is the first book I’ve read by Maria DeBlassie and I am blown away. Mercy and the other women of their town are haunted by La Llorona, who sees to it that the women suffer sorrow and pass that sorrow down from generation to generation. After nearly being captured by La Llorona, Mercy is determined not to meet the ill fate of every other woman, and to find a way to break the curse La Llorona brings upon her. This book is captivating as you journey with Mercy into spiritual and magical growth while she fights to have the life she desires. Maria DeBlassie has created a storyline so real, you feel every emotion with every character as you journey through the pages. I loved this emotional journey and can not wait to read more by Maria DeBlassie!

Author Tricia Copeland has a brilliant way of bringing her story to life and bringing the reader right into the world she has created. If you love fantasy, you will love this book!

Their breakup five years earlier was explosive, but there were secrets both Cassandra and Rhett hid from one another. They now have to explore their true feelings, do some soul searching, and come to terms with the parts of their past that led them to where they are. This book reads so smoothly, it didn’t take long to get through it. Cassandra and Rhett are complex characters with complex pasts. They draw you in and make you instantly love them. Bree M. Lewandowski has created the perfect feel good story for anyone who loves a little drama and some sweet romance.

What a twisted ride! This is the first book I’ve read by Meghan O’Flynn but it certainly won’t be my last! In Deadly Words, you get a look inside Poppy’s mind and man is it a dark place to be! As the daughter or a serial killer, Poppy often finds herself in predicaments where she questions if her actions are her own or if she was just born that way. We get a look into the upbringing of Poppy and events that led to who she is today. There were quite a few “WTF?!” and “No way!!” moments in the book for me. O’Flynn has created a character and story so enthralling that you don’t want to stop reading and are disappointed when the book ends. Luckily there are more books in this series and I can’t wait to follow Poppy’s journey!

This book hit my soul hard. M. Billiter takes you through a lifelike experience of a mother and her son as he battles mental illness.Branson is a teen who feels alone as he navigates his world. He hears noises that eventually turn into voices telling him what to do. Branson has to live his life in high school hiding the voices and appearing “normal” until he no longer can. M. Billiter did not hold back, exposing gritty scenes that no one wants to believe can happen. I thought I understood mental illness before this book, but now I feel my eyes are far more open. I am looking forward to reading book two. Thank you M. for sharing the “not so perfect” side of people!

Dating the intern by Natalina Reis is such a fun and inviting read. It would be easy to read in one sitting as it draws you in and keeps you waiting to see what happens next! I laughed, I cried, I giggled like a little school girl. Ivory Tower is a successful businesswoman who runs a dating service. When a television appearance featuring her own love life is offered, she must quickly come up with a plan to make her nonexistent love life exist. Li Qiang, a much younger intern, offers to pose as her boyfriend. They must then get to know one another and make their fake relationship believable. This romantic comedy is a perfect book for anyone looking for a light and uplifting read!

This book is a part of the Mothers and Daughters collection by Angela Christina Archer. The story is a beautiful collaboration of emotions as you get to know Marlena and Betty and how their worlds intertwine. This book is a reflection of a reality that many young women faced in the 1950’s. My heart went on a roller coaster ride through happiness and heartbreak. Every character in the book has a backstory and they are painted in so much detail that you are fully entangled in their world. You feel what they feel and see through their eyes. Angela Christina Archer has quickly become a favorite author of mine and I can not wait to explore more of her books!
