Lucky Stars by Fantasia Yu – Review by Sheri Schrader

Lucky StarsLucky Stars by Fantasia Yu
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lucky Stars is a modernized sci-fi version of Audrey Hepburn’s Roman Holiday. I was intrigued by the cover and the description in the cover blurb. Princess Mora is being put in an arranged marriage to merge two families and not getting to live her own life. She makes a break for it, and adventure follows. This is a quick read that has kept me wanting more. I always enjoy sci-fi romance, and space pirates add another level of fun. I enjoyed Mora and Darin, the rebel pilot. The two are a good match, and I looked forward to getting to the end to find out if there was a happily ever after. If you are looking for romance, sci-fi, fun, and of course, space pirates, this book is for you. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This is a short, fast-paced sci-fi story that is imaginative and such an interesting read. This is the first book that I have read by this author so I had no expectations when going in. I was really taken by the level of detail in the writing and how easy that drew me into the story.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. They had a great dynamic and really developed as the story went along. I loved their interactions and I thought they added to the overall story really well. With the way this book ended I cannot wait to get my hands on the next!

I loved this book and it’s made me so excited for the series to come! It was easy to read and had some great characters! Riley was fabulous! She is definitely going to be one who will stick up for herself and I sense there’s going to be some chemistry between her and Cole and also a LOT of angst if the story goes the way I think it will!
This is a prequel story so is only short but it definitely gets you ready for the next book! I cannot wait!!!
I will add there are some parts of this story concerning mental health which could be a trigger for some readers, I feel the author dealt with them sensitively because sadly these things to happen in life.

While this is a shorter story it does pack a punch. I got to meet the Elite boys and a few or the girls. I got a deeper look into the background on Cole and Damon. It has some shocking and irritating moments. A little look into Riley’s life as well. She has led a very interesting life.

This one captured my interest and hung on til the end. I look forward to the next or first book in the series as I am wondering what is going to happen next.

Mora is a princess in a futuristic world who is tired of being constrained by her royal duties. She decides instead to break free and go on an adventure with a rebel pilot named Darin. Mora gets more of an adventure than she bargained for when her and Darin are pursued by a bounty hunter across the galaxy.

This book is a romance set in the future in a galaxy far away. Mora finds herself falling for Darin during their adventure but feels conflicted because she is bound by her royal duties. She keeps her real identity a secret from Darin throughout the pursuit by the bounty hunter while she tries to figure out what her feelings are for him. Destined to be married to another in order to secure peace in the galaxy, Mora wrestles with the concept of duty versus love.

The author did a great job of describing royalty in a future galaxy. The writing is vivid and detailed and the characters are likable. This book is a great example of the concept of how difficult it must be as a royal member to have to choose between love and royal responsibilities, duties, and obligations. It is complete with princesses, pirates, bounty hunters, action, adventure, and suspense.

Wow, what a chemistry between the two main characters! I knew before starting this book it was going to be strong as that was evident even just from the description. But their connected and the chemistry between them can be felt on every single page. For me, it is this that truly carries this book along with watching them develop as the story progresses.
I thought the overall story was well written and a great read. It is the fourth book in the series but can be easily read as a standalone. There is an easy flow to the story but the author has managed to introduce a good level of detail. This was a thoroughly enjoyable story and a great rock star romance.

Quick read as a lead in to the book Savage Lies. This story ends on a cliffhanger. When I started reading it, I was a bit iffy about it. I didn’t really feel any kind of real connection to Riley’s character. But things got more interesting when Cole’s character was introduced. The things going on in his life kept the pace of the book going to keep me interested enough to finish it. And while the events toward the end of the story are predictable, if I read through the series, it’ll be because I need to know how things play out between him and his father. Overall, a good read.

This is one of my favorite romance stories by this author. I enjoyed how she is able to pull me into the story from the start and how she gives her stories a realistic feel. This story is no different. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. An engaging story about secrets and what those secrets could do to lives if found out. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story. They are strong, supportive characters that are not only relatable but add so much to the story. This is an easy and entertaining story that has great growth as well as chemistry. You don’t want to miss what happens with this story. I really enjoyed reading this romance story. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first novel that I have read by this author and i thought it was a good one. It was a New Adult Sci-fi Romance that caught my attention because of the pretty cover and the interesting synopsis. It was fast paced and involved a romantic adventure in space. This author’s writing style was good and for that reason alone I am looking forward to more by this author in the future.
I would recommend to anyone wanting a fast paced sci-fi space adventure.

Having read books from the author’s other series; I was so excited to get to check this book out. I had not read the first 3 books, but the author did an amazing job of recapping the relationships from the previous books in a way that was seamless with this story. The connection between Adam Tron and Cristy Valor was immediately electric and steamy. The character development of the characters as a couple and as individuals was well written. The author did a great job of setting up Cristy’s past and how it affects her life now in a way that you truly feel for her. The story definitely had some great twists and some seriously emotional scenes! If you are looking for a fun and steamy story, full of heart and wonderful characters, this is the book and series for you!

The story follows Princess Mora of the planet Xitlych, who has been set up to marry Prince Fidge of Xot in order to create an alliance among the nexus of planets. However, Mora has other ideas. She escapes from the castle and ends up on a dangerous adventure with criminal-come-tour guide, Darin O’Joy. Mora helps Darin open himself up to love and Darin helps Mora face her fears. I love Mora and Darin and hate all of the royals minus Pola. It was a really interesting storyline, although quite hard to follow at parts as I don’t think all of the chapters necessarily flow, but I’m glad it ends with a happy ever after. I wish we could have seen Mora and Darin come together officially at the end, though. ‘Both safe at last from the loneliness of the world.’

Mora is a moon princess who aspires to do more and see more. However, she is arranged to wed Prince Fidge, whom she clearly has no interest in. Despite gaining acceptance, her parents do not seem to be very supportive of her dreams to go to the Bronze City for school, where she hopes to be far, far away from Fidge. And from that point, she begins to care less and less about the opinions of others about her, as well as her safety. When she is introduced to the handsome Darin, she is instantly smitten and becomes quite the risk taker. But if Darin found out who she really was, Mora is not sure he would still be accepting of her being a Princess. How long can she hide her identity from him when the royals send a bounty hunter to retrieve her?

Lucky Stars is my first experience with Fantasia Yu’s work. The way she writes keeps you pulled in and able to easily imagine the world that characters are engaged in. She has really created a fun adventure within space in this short sci-fi romance.

This was a very interesting prequel. I’m excited to read the full story and see what happens.

Riley and her mom have been moving from place to place without any stability. Riley would love to stay in one place long enough to make friends. We don’t know why they are on the run. They do whatever is necessary to get money to survive on.

Cole and Damen are twins from the right side of the tracks and don’t have any struggles with money but are at odds when it comes to their parents. Their mom is struggling in the relationship with her husband and the boys are caught in the middle. Cole is on his moms side and Daman is on his dads side. This is all causing more friction in the household.

So much happens in this prequel to get me excited the read the story and see how everything comes together or falls apart.

This was a great 5 star read, being only 50 pages I read it in one sitting. This genre is quickly becoming a favorite for me. The characters were great, you could feel their connection coming off the pages. Riley and Cole definitely come from different sides of the track but money doesn’t always make things better. Of course we end on a cliffhanger, looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I need to see where their story goes. I will warn that 18+ readers are recommended due to the content and some darkness. If you like Bully Romance 1-click and get started today on this great read.

This is a short novella, a prequel to a promising new adult series. Be aware it does end in a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more. Can I just say wow, I’m so glad I picked this up to read, but I want the rest of the series now because I have to know what happens next to Cole and Riley.

Riley is a quick thinker she’s had to be, as she’s seen and helped with more cons than she wants to admit. Her mom and her have just moved yet again, and Riley is waiting to find out what the new con will be despite her mom telling her they are finally safe from her father and won’t be conning anyone or moving again. She is trying to figure out her new look to blend in when she stumbles onto a party. It’s there she meets Cole, one of the ElITIES of Hidden Valley. Cole isn’t your typical good-looking jock though he pretends to be, while he hides the family drama he is trying to deal with.

This is a fun, fast enemy to lovers and a new adult bully romance that has left me wanting to know more about Riley and Cole. I honestly can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out.

I want to start out by saying that this is the fourth book in the BaleFire Series – but it is the first one I’ve read and it definitely works as a stand alone.
Adam is part of the hit band Balefire. Cristy is one of the hottest pop singers on the planet. She has agreed to join Balefire on their tour. They both know that their collaboration will drive their fans crazy. However, what they don’t realize is that this collaboration will be electric in so many ways than one.
This book was amazing and watching Cristy interact with Balefire was amazing. I truly loved Cristy’s character and the depth she had to her. I loved the way that the author wrote and I have to say that now that I have read the fourth book I will be ordering books one through three right away. It is the perfect romance between two world famous stars.

Hot For Me is the fourth book in the Balefire series but the first book I’ve ever read by the author. This book was an excellent stand alone romance but as always, I have to wonder how much I would have enjoyed the book seeing any tie ins from previous installments if I read the series in order. I don’t read a lot of rock star romances but something about this book gave me a familiar feeling I really enjoyed. I caught myself thinking about some of my favorite bands and their lives on tour. The chemistry in this book was palpable whether it be between Adam and Cristy or bandmates and the fans. I feel like the whole storyline had a great energy that kept me invested from start to finish. I was SUPER excited to see the playlist at the end of the book was comprised of bands I love and included my favorite Papa Roach song of all time. Somehow this only just solidified my feelings about the book as a whole. I’ll definitely be circling back to the previous books in the series and reading more from this author.

What a great start to an adult bully romance series. This is Riley and Cole’s beginning of the Enemies to Lovers series that you won’t want to miss out. Riley only knows the world of cons, her mother being the first example. Cole is his own coming to adult world and very opposite from Riley. Setting on both sides of the fence, these two meet and their worlds change. No spoilers to be found. This new to me author perked my interest. Her story is just getting started with these polar opposites. Their lives are just as we were at their age. And the romance is breathtaking as well. The story is not a stand alone and ends with you wanting so much more. I for one can not wait for the next in this series. Caution this is for adults, due to the contents. Enjoy fellow readers!

Cute quick Sci-fi space romance!

Princess Mora is sent to marry prince Fidge to form an alliance. Nora just wants freedom, her sister can do whatever she wants whenever she wants and no one bats an eyelash.

Darin is a rebel, and outcast just trying to earn his way to freedom. Mora escapes onto his tour craft to get away from her obligations. They can’t deny their feeling and chemistry for one another but how can they be together. A rebel and a princess?

Super short read that I wish was long so we could see more of this world she created and the relationship between Darin and Mora.

When I first read the blurb and laid eyes on the cover I just knew this was going to be a read that ticked all the boxes ❣️📕

Being the daughter/stepdaughter of celebs can’t be easy on one side the parents want to protect and on the other side the child wants to have a taste of that life and I must say one parent is an opera singer while the other a rockstar , polar opposites , very interesting ! 🫶🏼😋😉
I think it’s safe to say Melodie has music is her blood and when a nightingale wants to sing you can’t clip it’s wings ….

Melodie is desperate to sing so she goes “ undercover” and does just that , with Wil’shelp and he’s here to work and find his biological dad 🫣

Wil and El’s relationship is a blend of business and pleasure and between all the secrets , laughs and moments I really just had fun with them ❣️

I was unfamiliar with the author and her other works, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a cute sci-fi romance with space adventure mixed in. I thought Princess Mora was a great character and we really got to see her learn and grow as a character throughout the story. Her sister Pola was hilarious and delightful and their robot JCee was amusing and so helpful to the characters. Darin was a charming space hero, who was so kind and hardworking, despite his tough exterior. The rest of the characters were wonderful and the story was an easy to read tale that kept me in suspense until the last page. I cant wait to see what happens in the next book.

At only 55 pages, there was a lot missing from this story.

You meet Riley and her mother who have been constantly on the run, moving cities and getting a new identity.

Cole and his brother are dealing with parents who are constantly fighting.

I feel like most of the story was spent on Cole and his mother and the kids shared between him and Riley came and went. I felt the forward momentum of the story was lacking. I hope there is more to the story in the following books.

Hot For Me is the fourth book in the Balefire series by Tam DeRudder Jackson. It is a New Adult contemporary rockstar romance with plenty of chemistry, sparks, emotion, secrets, angst, drama, and sexy details.
I have come into this series a little backwards, as I didn’t realise that it’s the fourth book in the series when I snapped up my copy. But luckily it can be read as a standalone, as each book in the series focuses on a different member of the Balefire rock band. Having said that though, I am curious about what has happened in the previous books, as well as wanting to ‘know’ the other characters better- so I will be going back to the beginning, starting with book one and working my way up, so I can find out what has happened in the previous three books.
I enjoyed following Adam and Cristy as they found love unexpectedly. But what happens when the door to the past won’t stay shut and secrets are revealed? No spoilers here, you really should read all the intriguing developments for yourself.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Tam DeRudder Jackson!

Savage Start is the prequel to the Hidden Valley Elite series and debut novel by Isla Vaughn. It is a very short (50pgs) story that gives a very small taste of what to expect from the rest of the series. It made for an intriguing, quick and easy read. I read it in well under an hour.
This is a New Adult (High School) bully romance, although there was very little in the way of romance, bullying, or really much else- as this basically just lays the ground-work for the next instalment/s, giving cause as to why the bullying/enemies to lovers/ angst/ and emotion aspect of the story arises- which I imagine will come in the next instalment/s.
The ‘Elites’ are the top of the food chain at the Hidden Valley Elite high school. They are brothers Cole and Damon and their cousins, twin brothers Phoenix and Shane. They are their high schools football stars and every girls wet dream- and they know it. I guess as the series goes on, each of the elites will get their own book/s. This prequel sets us up for Cole and Riley’s story, which is set to continue in the next TWO books- “Savage Lies” (Book #1) and “Savage Truth” (Book #2).
This book depicts a toxic family environment, with parental conflict/cheating/yelling matches etc- as well as suicide- darker topics- so this may be triggering for some readers.
It ends on a cliffhanger and the story continues in the next book.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isla Vaughn!
