Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlikely To Stay by Olivia Sherwood is the third book in her Parker Lake Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although the others are definitely worth a read.
Brant is familiar with the feeling of not being wanted. After his parents died he was moved from one place to the next, never finding permanence. Not until his foster mum adopted him and gave him a home.
Determined to make something of his life he attends college. However the debt he is left with afterwards forces him to take a job in a small town. But the three years he will do in the small surgery will cover all the loans. And then he is out of here.
Or so he thinks. Then he meets CC. She is independent but lacking stability. Raised by hippie parents she basically brought herself up. They are both looking for completely different things in life. And yet they can’t seem to stay away.

I found this book to be really enjoyable. I really liked both Brant and Colleen. They were fully believable as characters. Their stories were relatable which really helped to be drawn into their journey. The writing was easy flowing and carried you along without issue. A great book and one I would recommend.

Unlikely to Stay (Parker Lake) by Olivia Sherwood. This is a great romance! I love small town romances and this series has been perfection! This one is about CC who owns the local beauty shop. CC’s mom was a hippie that moved all over the place and CC never really had a stable life because of it. Brant Billings is the new nurse in town and he’s trying to fill the shoes of the retiring dr and some residents are not taking to him. Brant has been left by his parents as a child and after several foster homes his Mom Betty Billings adopted him. Its always been him and Betty against the world. Afraid of rejection he has been single forever. When he meets CC he is interested but she seems like she hates him. He wonders what he did to her to make her feel that way. CC has always felt inferior to anyone that may be smarter than she is so that is her reluctance to Brant. Will he be able to break down her walls and let him in. Read Unlikely To Stay to find out!

This is not my first book by Knapp and it will not be my last. If you like stories with sweet hometown characters, stories with simple yet heart felt problems, then you need to read the Parker Lake Series. Unlikely to Stay is book 3 in the series and it is the story of CC and Brant. CC is the hometown Beauty Salon owner while Brant is the newest most eligible bachelor in town. However, Brant is only in town to serve a 3-year internship. This is another cute sweet story that will make Ashliee Knapp a certifiable one-click author! If you have not read any of her books you could very easily pick this one to start with. There is some back story told about CC’s friends which are books 1 and 2 in this series but each book is about a new couple. The other stories are a must read as well. I don’t think there is any one thing that I love about this book, it is just an over all good story. I can definitely recommend this story to readers young and old alike.

I have really fallen in love with this Parker Lake series. I have followed along and read from the beginning and recommend that you do as well for the fullest enjoyment of the books. These books really build on each other and the characters and the town all work with each other to create a space you literally feel as if you jump into each time you open your kindle to read. I love the world building and have loved every moment I have spent in Parker Lake. This book had many laugh out loud moments and they are balanced with sweet melt your heart love moments as well. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp is the third book in the Parker Lake series and is centred around Brant and Colleen or CC as she is know by and is a great romantic story.

The story is a fast flowing, well written story which brought theses to characters to life, I love a book that you can just get lost into and Unlikely to stay is a great story to do this with. I enjoyed all the characters that were in this book but I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters Brant and Colleen.

Brant is a nurse practitioner and Colleen or CC is a hairdresser within the town of Parker, both have serious crushes on each other but are not prepared to admit just yet that until one night CC’s friend’s decide to bid in the bachelor auction and buy CC a date with the handsome Brant.

They hit it off and the rest is history, but will there pasts be the ending to the new relationship they have created or will it be too late for it to be over. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and hope these wonderful characters are included in the other books. I would recommend this series to my friends.

Oh my goodness, this town is my favorite and i want to live here!
CC can only count on herself and her 2 best friends in life. She’s got a crush that if she has anything to say about, will go nowhere, on the towns medical professional Brant.
These two, oh I loved them more than the previous books, they fought so hard and learned so much.
I really enjoyed the laughter and the sweet moments.
What a great book!

Unlikely to Stay is the third book in the Parker Lake series. I had forgotten how great the people in this small town were. The older people just keep getting funnier and funnier in each book. Goodness knows what we’re going to end up in the next book.

CC and Brant’s story was so sweet. She learned things aren’t always what they seem to be. He learned to always listen to your Mama. Now to get my kids to learn that…

Living in Texas I have come across plenty of small towns and I swear I recognized people in the book. I have started make sure I’m in one of my Longhorns shirts when reading her books since there are several mentions of the school North of the Red River. 😉  This is another great book and I’m so looking forward to the next one in this series.

Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3) – Olivia Sherwood

5-star review

This is a must-read romance! It’s the third book in the Parker Lake series, a series that can be read as standalones as there’s so much main character and supporting character detail that makes it really easy to follow along. But to fully appreciate this series I would suggest reading it in order to get the full picture!

Unlikely to Stay is sweet, romantic, detailed and laugh out loud funny! This author’s writing always pulls me right in from the start, I couldn’t put this book down and I ended up reading it in one sitting. The characters are so relatable and easy to connect with which made it for a really entertaining read! Plus, this series has some very memorable supporting characters.

This is a book and series I would recommend to anyone looking for their next romance read! And like always I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

This is the third book in this series. It is my favorite so far in this series. I enjoy how this author is able to pull me into her story with ease. I also enjoy how she is able to take me on an emotional roller coaster with the characters. They are connectable and relateable. I enjoyed both of these two, Brent and CC. They are sweet and cute together. Brent is not use to having stability in his life and CC has lived in the same town forever. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first time I have read this author’s work. I don’t know where I have been hiding, but it felt like Christmas when I began CC and Brant’s story. I feel like I have been hiding under a rock!!!

CC and Brant was a love story that was everything I wish for in a romance. It had humour, intense attraction, chemistry, drama, passion, energy and flair. I fell hard and fast for the main duo, and the secondary characters just blew my mind. I have not laughed so much during a book for an age. It was the most fun I have had with an eccentric and eclectic group of characters I have had in an awfully long time. This author’s story writing prowess is immeasurable and I will be snapping up all her other books asap.

A truly unforgettable story that has left me with an insatiable urge for more. 5 stars.

Unlikely to Stay (Parker Lake Series Book 3) by Olivia Sherwood
Brant Billings has not had much sense of permanency in his life. Raised as a foster kid, he was bounced from home to home until Betty Billings, his foster mom, adopted him at the age of eleven. Facing a mountain of student loan debt after receiving his nurse practitioner’s license, Brant accepted a job at a clinic in the small town of Parker, Oklahoma. As long as he worked in the tiny town for three years, his loans would be forgiven. For a man with no attachment to anyone other than his adopted mom, he had complete confidence he would be walking away in three years completely debt free. What he didn’t figure into the equation was the woman with the cherry red hair and sapphire blue eyes who seemed to try and avoid him at all costs.
Small town girl Colleen “CC” Chandler has always been used to fending for herself. Raised by hippie parents more focused on their wants and needs than their daughter’s, Colleen has not had much sense of stability in her life. As the town’s only hair stylist, Colleen has continued to care for others by giving them the confidence they need to look their best. What Colleen has lacked is confidence in herself. Feeling as if she’s nothing but a simple hairdresser, Colleen shies away from anyone she feels is smarter than her, especially the handsome nurse practitioner who’s only in town for three years.
When the town raises money for Colleen to build the town a top-of-the-line workout gym by holding an eligible bachelor auction, Colleen’s friends buy a date with Brant for Colleen. Both Brant and Colleen have scars that run deep. Will the two of them be able to overcome the odds stacked against them or will they simply be too much to handle?

A story of small town love after heartbreak. The characters draw you in and have you laughing and crying throughout the book. Especially Griffin’s Meemaw! Reeling from a bad day at work and running into her ex-husband, Breckin has a girl’s night at Griff’s bar, where she gets hammered and Griff volunteers to bring her home. After a few run-ins with each other, the two begin hanging out, plan Griffin’s grandmother’s birthday party, and eventually are spending almost all of their free time together. When Breckin’s ex gets jealous of their relationship, he acts out of anger and does some serious damage. Can Breckin and Griffin overcome trouble and grief over their own pasts and move forward? This was an incredible book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet romance with a little bit of trouble!

Unlikely to Fit(Parker Lake) by Olivia Sherwood is a second chance romance that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I’m a huge fan of this author and this series. This might be my favorite yet. Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride with this one. At some points I was crying (I’ve been very emotional lately) to absolutely laughing hard. Ioved all the characters, they are well developed and fun. I felt like I was apart of the story. This is Griff and Breckin’s story. She is truly trying to move on with her life after her ex left her for the young cheerleader but she’s finding its hard to do rhat since he’s the football coach at the school she works as a counselor. Griff oh mercy Griff’ s heart was shattered when the love of his life dies due to a accident. He’s not looking for love but neither is Breckin. Can these two be what the other needs to trust and love again? I can’t recommend reading this book enough. If you haven’t read the first book I highly recommend reading it as well. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next.

Unlikely to Fit is the second book in a series and the first book by this author that I have ever read. It is a romantic comedy. And I will say that it serves well as a stand-alone. I felt that reading this for the first time without the first book, it was easy to follow.

The main characters, Breckin and Griff have both recently had heart breaks and are completely starting over. Breckin was divorced. Griff lost his wife in a motorcycle accident. I have to admit that I fell in love with these two characters. But my favorite character development is Griff’s Meemaw. She is funny and kept me laughing throughout the book. I will definitely have to pick up and read the first book in this series!

Griff is a big, muscular, tattooed teddy bear with a huge heart. He never thought he would find love again after losing his first love tragically. Then Breckin walks into his life and he’s genuinely smiling and happy again. He can’t stay away and the way that he calls her Jelly Bean just melts me. She’s been so hurt and embarrassed by her ex husband that she isn’t remotely interested in a relationship but she can’t help but be drawn to him. He looks so gruff on the outside but once she actually takes the time to get to know him she realizes what an amazing person he is as he wriggles his way firmly into her heart. Griff has a mee maw that is laugh out loud hilarious! I really love that this book has so much laughter mixed in with heart melting romance. There is a big tragic twist in the story that I wasn’t expecting but the ending is absolutely beautiful. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

How to describe this sweet romance? For starters meemaw is awesome and you will fall in love with her for sure! Breckin is so sweet and not in a bad way. I adore her character and her strength for all she’s been through. And then there’s Griff. Mmm Griff in my mind is close to every girls dream guy. The one who makes you feel safe and beautiful. With everything that they have both been through its not surprising they are not interested in starting anything. But who knows what can happen if there’s chemistry? Is chemistry enough when your heart is broken?

A romantic comedy smash hit! I LOVED this book. The author develops relatable, funny characters with depth. You really get to know all of the characters, but deeply understand the hurts and joys of the main characters, which keeps the reader engaged with the story. I love the world created by the author and the relationships and friendships on display in her books, especially in this series. I laughed out loud many times— Meemaw’s character is something else!

In this story we dive deeper into the lives of Breckin and Griff, who have each had their heartbreaks and given up on love; however, they have caught one another’s eye. Will they take another chance on love? Could it ever work?

This is the second book in the series, so if you read the first, you already know many of the other characters in the book, which makes it even more engaging—though it could be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed this book and Breckin and Griff’s story even more than the first book in the series and I cannot wait for the third!

This great contemporary romance has everything that a romance reader could possibly want. Full of second chances, chemistry, drama, humor, a small town and so much more make up this fantastic novel with fabulous characters. Having read the first book in this series I happily picked up this copy of book two and dived right in. Breckin is nursing a broken heart, while Griff is broken in his own way. But what will happen when she agrees to help him with his grandmother’s birthday party? Will Griff be able to make Breckin trust again? Will Breckin be able to see Griff’s gentle soul? Will they be able to heal each other’s hearts? You’ll have to read this wonderful novel to find out for yourself.

My heart bled for the main character in this book as she tried to become resilient in the face of something she’d tried to overcome but when the story unravels, this story will have a tug that’s unmatchable. The chemistry between the two characters with their history (not just towards one another) but to be willing to give love a second chance. I thoroughly loved this second chance at love story and I enjoyed being back in the small town setting of Parker. Breckin Henderson and her football coach husband returned to her hometown of Parker, Oklahoma, only for him to leave her for the head cheerleader. Instead of running, Breckin remains in Parker and decides to build a new life for herself. Griff is a local who returned with a broken heart following the death of his girlfriend in a motorcycle accident. Griff now works as a bartender at the bar his grandfather owned and provides a listening ear for the locals. He also takes care of his elderly grandmother and takes her food shopping each week. Both Breckin and Griff have had their hearts broken once before and have insecurities, fears and trust issues but as their attraction grows and they get closer, they discover that they might be able to fall in love again.

Once again the setting is brought to life by the authors descriptive narrative and I felt fully immersed in small town life, and the gossip it brings. The characters are likeable and relatable and the chemistry between Breckin and Griff sizzled off the page. I liked catching up with characters from the previous book, although this can be read as a standalone story. This is an enjoyable and engaging read with plenty of drama, romance and some laugh out loud moments, mainly curtesy of Breckin’s grandmother. A wonderfully written and detailed story which kept me hooked, and happily turning the pages, I was hoping that Breckin and Griff would get their HEA. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Unlikely to Fit by Olivia Sherwood

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The author sure had me hooked from the beginning. It was hard for me to put down once I started. This is the second book in the Parker Lake Novels.

Breckin has lost her husband to a newly graduated cheerleader. When she doesn’t leave town to get away from the gossip it may be a good thing. She meets Griff who is a gentleman and she can’t wait. If only she could get to work on time. The quote I chose for Breckin is: “Ugh! For the love of everything holy, please get the damn donkey out of the middle of the road!”

Griff comes home after the horrible loss of his girlfriend. He takes over taking care of his grandmother and running her around for errands. He also takes over his grandfather’s bar and when he meets Breckin he thinks he may have a chance. The quote I chose for Griff is: “It doesn’t really bother me. I met her dad at Meemaw’s party. I like him. Plus, I know Meemaw posted a picture of his butt on Instagram so I kind of have the upper hand on him.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

Breckin never saw her life turning out this way. She surely didn’t expect her husband to leave her. She’s not in the market for a new relationship, especially after how hers ended. She just moved back to Parker so she’s not running but staying isn’t as easy as one would think. Her ex husband working for the same high school definitely brings it’s own challenges. Griff knows loss and grief. Having his own pain doesn’t stop him from listening to the troubles of those around him as he runs his grandfather’s bar. These two have been broken and neither one of them have the desire to meet anyone new. Can these two broken hearted mend with each other?

I really enjoyed this book. There are so many emotions. I hurt for Breckin when her husband left her. She didn’t see that coming. She developed well through the story. She was strong and depended on herself when it mattered. Griff knew what it was like to lose someone and eventually opened his mind to exploring something with Breckin. I loved these characters and couldn’t put the book down!

I can not explain how much I enjoy reading books by this author. Her smooth writing style is exactly what I enjoy about reading. The quick wit that is a part of the character dialogue, not to mention that they always just feel so real and like I’m sitting there a part of everything going on. I have read these out of order and am so glad I took the time to go back and start at the beginning. Breckin and Griff are two of my favorite characters from this series. I met them in Book 3 then again in book 1. As I said, I’ve read totally out of order, but it doesn’t matter, they are that good.

Griff’s meemaw and Wyatt’s niece Hattie totally stole the story on every page they showed up on. They made me smile and laugh out loud more than once.

The friendships and family aspect of this whole series has me completely hooked. I want to move there and insert myself into this group of people. The progression of Griff and Breck’s relationship was actually beautiful. Knowing each other as long as they had, it felt natural the way everything happened. The sadness they both endured separately yet worked so hard to heal together. There were times I just wanted to scream at certain characters in this story. So it is safe to say, I experienced just about every emotion possible while reading. I love that, and not wanting to put the book down and definitely not wanting it to end!

I can not recommend reading this whole series high enough. Definitely one of my favorite authors ever and I seriously can’t wait to read book 3 again after finishing this one.

I LOVED IT!!
