I loved Pulkinen’s creativity in making them. The story had great flow and easily kept my attention. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) By Carrie Pulkinen 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen. It pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a story that is funny and romantic. I love the characters of Sophie Burroughs and Trace Thibodeaux. Sophie is independent, sassy, and wants to be a witch. She finds herself accused of crimes against a werewolf pack as well as bitten by Trace. Trace is trying hard not to let his attraction to Sophie interfere with his investigation of the crimes that his pack believes Sophie has committed. The problem is that he can’t seem to focus when she is around. What does the future hold for Trace and Sophie? Will Sophie be able to prove that she is not guilty of crimes against his pack? Will Trace be able to keep himself from completely falling for Sophie? Read this book to find out what happens. This is a story that had me laughing out loud at the banter that goes back and forth between the characters. There is both humorous and flirty banter. There are romantic scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I love that some of the characters from the first book are brought forward into this one. Don’t miss out on the amazing second story in this series. I highly recommend it.

A paranormal fantasy with romance thrown in the mix – Peyerk did a great job with this story and developing the characters. Tiana is a great character. I loved her sass and attitude and really felt her struggle with who she is as well as the fae men in her life. This is a great start and only left the book wanting to know how the story would continue. Enjoyed it.
We are taken on quite an adventure. This book gives us a unique take on excalibur and all that entails. There is action, magic, originality, and great characters. This is the first time I have read anything from this author and I’m glad I did because I enjoyed the way this book was written. You might be a little confused in the beginning but I promise you it does all come together and makes sense. The action started almost from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I recommend this book, it was a fun read.

This is the second book in this series, I enjoyed it as much as the first. I highly suggest reading the first one as well to enhance your enjoyment of the characters. This is a paranormal romance story that brings humor and sassy characters. Sophie is determined to be a witch but her problem is she can’t seem to cast spells. Her other problem is that she was bitten by a steamy werewolf. Will she be able to figure out her magic to stop her from becoming a werewolf? I enjoyed these characters. They brought the story to life for me and kept me turning pages until the end. A great story that made me laugh through most of the story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

“When Fate Calls, Should You Answer?” Excalibur, the legendary sword, “calls out across the ages for a worthy hand”, and a cynical American student Lance is the chosen one. Although cynical Lance recognises his own destiny and so accepts fate and Excalibur. The voice of Excalibur becomes louder as Lance travels into the supernatural world below the London he is familiar with. As Lance becomes involved in warring families alongside friend Megan, he must find the hero inside himself and discover whether, “he rules the sword, or does the sword rule him?”. This is an exciting and gripping read which had me hooked from page one. A great mix of legend, myth, the supernatural and drama it is a fast paced page turner. Black Blade is a unique twist on the legend of Excalibur and I liked Lance’s character, the unlikely hero who here’s the sword calling to him. This book took me on a great adventure along with Lance and it is wonderfully written. I was immersed in the supernatural world below London thanks to Charalambides great world building. I found it was an exciting and fun read.

Lance is a hero who does his best to survive high school, especially in a world that doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense. When his school receives a donation from an anonymous millionaire, Lance and his friend Megan, embark on an international trip to England.
Here, they will find a hand, bearing a sword, appears in a toilet bowl. From then on Lance knows he was the one to employ it. So, he has been called on a Quest with three Wizards named Albrecht, Reinhardt and Kendrick, along with Megan to safeguard Excalibur. Lance must also keep his friends safe from the army of magical soldiers.
Black Blade is a well written story and has everything from action to paranormal and was very enjoyable to read. It is a modern day story of Excalibur and a wonderful twist on the fairytale, where Lance, Megan and the wizards are all on a treasure hunt.
This is a really enjoyable book and would really recommend. It is full of twist and turns with fantasy, adventure and amazing characters. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

When I first started reading Black Blade (Black Blade Book 1) by Alexander Charalambides, I was a bit put off with the short clipped dialogue of our hero and heroine. But as I continued to read, I realized how normal that was. That is exactly how a great many of us speak and communicate. It was worth sticking with it because as you progress through the story the other characters in the story have dialogue that is a thing of beauty. I love language and how it flows together, and this author brings it to the fore. The characters are very unique, well described and memorable. The world he builds is diverse and you can almost smell it. There is plenty of action, twists and turns and quite unpredictable. Then, of course, there is always the story within the story. Just a little head up here the story goes at a nice little pace until you near the end. It’s a page turning roller coaster after that. Be prepared.

License to Bite is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. It is a superb Paranormal Romantic Comedy, and definitely sets this series off to a fun start. I have read all Ms. Pulkinen’s books now and have loved them all. This book is a little less spicy and intense than some of her other work, as this has a cuter, sweeter, fun, and humorous look at the New Orleans paranormal world. That’s not to say that there wasn’t any excitement or some dramatic moments that added a little extra ‘zing’ to the story- because there was. Just the overall storyline felt a lot more light-hearted than her other books. As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with vampires, witches, magic, vampire politics, and other supernatural elements- all set in mystical New Orleans. Jane is a travel blogger who has come to New Orleans for her latest article. But things get a little complicated when she wakes up in an attic, a newly turned vampire- after a “selfie” moment goes horribly wrong. Ethan is a broody, tortured soul- a vampire who has lost his ‘zest’ for ‘life’. When he sees Jane, he is convinced she is his lost fiancée, now reincarnated. He turns her, and soon discovers that there is no way Jane is the person he thought she was. She’s feisty, loud, and oh so frustrating. But according to the vampire law, Ethan must help her learn to be a vampire. Teaching her their ways and helping her gain her ‘License to Bite”. Without it, she will be staked. They have three weeks to get her into shape. One small problem- Jane faints at the sight of blood- and blood is the very thing that vampires need to survive. MMMM, what will she do? This is a quick and easy read full of humorous quips, banter, and antics. The romance is sweet, with just enough excitement to keep things interesting. I am definitely looking forward to book two- “Shift Happens”, which is Sophie’s story (Jane’s best friend).

Black Blade is the first book I have read by Alexander Charalambides. This book brings the story of Excalibur to modern times. Although this book started out slow for me, it really came on strong a couple of chapters in. It is full of action and adventure, and the characters really grew as the story progressed. Lance and Megan, American teenagers, take a special trip for college to the UK to tour a museum, and that is where the story begins. I really like that the story is told in multiple POV. You really learn what each of the characters are thinking that way. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by Alexander Charalambides.

This is my first book by TK Lawyer, I knew I wanted to read it as soon as I saw there was a witch involved. I’m a sucker for a witch, and I’m not ashamed about it. This romantic book had me from the beginning. I had a hard time putting it down. Eva is by far one of my favorite characters and was wonderfully developed. Kingsley had me wishing I was more of a dog person, (haha) and I love how these two interact. Absolutely a must read for my paranormal readers out there and even those that don’t read this genre much. I can’t wait to read the next book and see where TK Lawyer goes with it. Will it be more Eva and Kingsley or other fantastic characters in this book? I’ll be ready!

This book was a truly fascinating read, what with the internal monologue, his interactions with Megan, and just the overall feel for the book. Following the different point of views was difficult to understand at first, but definitely made the book a unique read! It spins off our well known story of Excalibur, and oh boy is it a good one! Definitely worth the read and an absolute page turner! I rarely read this genre but I truly love this book!

This story is a great twist on the story of Excalibur. The story is a fast pace story. Once I started this book I could not put it down. The characters of the book are fully developed. I found that the characters are what makes this story of Excalibur fun. Lance, the main character, always knew that he was special. He could sense the greatness within himself. He has some rough times ahead. I recommend this story. It is the perfect break you need from the craziness of today.

Sophie Burroughs is determined to be a witch. Her grandmother was a witch. All the other supes say she smells like a witch, but she can’t cast a spell to save her life.
Sprouting fur is so not on her to-do list.
But when a smokin’ hot werewolf bites her and then accuses her of crimes against his pack, she has until the next full moon to prove him wrong and stop his magic from transforming her into a wolf.
A romp in the sack would be a nice bonus, too.
Trace Thibodeaux didn’t mean to bite Sophie. The red wolves have been cursed, she’s the prime suspect, and if he wants to keep his rank in the pack, he has to end her magic by any means necessary.
But that doesn’t include sheathing his sword in a witch’s scabbard.
He’s gotten into bed with the enemy before, and that’s a mistake he’ll never make again.
Or will he?
If you like funny heroines and smoldering shifters, you’ll love this steamy paranormal romantic comedy.
Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

I enjoyed R.M. Gilmore’s take on a vampire love story and vampires in general. The story took a different turn for me and I was left wondering at times who really was the good guy. R.M. I know every time I pick up a R.M. Gilmore books will be awesome. Her stories really make me think throughout the story. This story is no different. This plotline is a suspense paranormal genre. There is something in it for everyone. I found myself flying through the pages because I wanted to know what was coming around the corner. I did finish the book in one sitting. The characters are unique and fully developed. Dylan is a journalist who takes her job seriously. She is a strong female character. She is trying to figure out what is going on. She needs to see if there is really a vampire causing this death. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what the series holds for us.

The Scene ( Dylan Hart #1) by R.M. Gilmore 4 Stars!!!!
It’s a wonderful feeling finding a new author and a new series. This is the first book by this author I have read and the first book in the series and I was not disappointed. The author has a very refreshing style and characters. I really love the whole investigative journalist angle and come on who doesn’t love vampires! I really like how the characters just jump right off of the page and I felt as though I was in the thick of it with them.
I really could see myself in Dylan’s place chasing the story and chasing all the leads. I really like how she is down to earth and isn’t afraid to get the story. I also like how the author doesn’t make the story transparent and that it makes the reader just as much an investigator as Dylan. I really like the chemistry between Dylan and the detective and also Dylan and Cyrus. I like how she is a bit uncertain about Cyrus and I look forward to how things progress in the series with this. I will definitely be reading more from this author and this series.

What I love about this book is it teaches us something we should all carry with us no matter who or what we are. I love books that hold values and morals as a storyline. Cheesy, I know but I love it. Alex Charalambides does this perfectly in this tale which is one for the ages. The book draws you in with Excalibur, who is always on a search, has one question for the universe, “When Fate calls, will you answer?” but calls across the eras for a notable hand until a distrustful American student is selected. Lance, a prideful young man, is ready to assume his destiny and step out on faith. Lance is on for a wild ride into the supernatural world below modern London, his sword begins to speak as the inner champion roars deeper. Caught in a battle within mystical families, Lance faces the conclusive question of: Does he rule the sword or is it the other way around? This book is an instant classic with the storytelling technique that Alex Charalambides writes this story. Grab this one and you won’t regret it!

This is quite an adventure. Filled with wizards, Magic and Excalibur is a retelling of a classic. While the story drew me in I struggled with the timeline of the characters. It is confusing to me and makes the story not flow very smoothly. Causing me to lose interest at times. I plugged on and the story does pick up near the end. The main character held my interest and wondering what would happen to him and the sword. There are few secondary characters who I liked and others not so much.

Piper has to keep her job but feels compelled to keep her job when she breaks her employers’ priceless vase. A wolf without a partner and a witch who isn’t on the prowl. Kingsley gave up on meeting the love of his life when his life was turned upside down by Eva who has a mystery for him to solve except he doesn’t know how. Eva has an infectious laugh, scrumptious curves, and a smell that simply undoes him. Eva gave up on men a long time ago but there’s something about Kingsley that makes him different. He’s determined, motivated, loving, and unlike any other man she’s dealt with before. Eva is a precarious one. . . In this opposites attract story, the two are drawn to one another. This book will have you on the edge of your seat as we follow this unique fuel turns to seduction. Beautifully written and a journey to go on with the writer through the reader’s perspective. The Scene (Dylan Hart Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore is slow to grow on you but once you got going couldn’t put it down kind of read. Some of the characters you loved to hate and others like Dylan were down to earth and oh so sassy and bad mouthed. I loved her and found myself laughing at her and her ballsy attitude. I don’t know what I expected but RM definitely keeps you on your toes right throughout and delivers a little gem. I am now about to head on to book 2 and see what delights and trouble Dylan finds herself in once again.

This was a quick read but it had plenty going on and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved Tiana and as much as she didnt want to attend the fae academy, she found out not everything is as it seemed. The attraction her elements felt toward each element prince was off the charts. Let’s not forget the man when that resides inside her, with all these men I don’t know who she will choose. It was a captivating original story that I had a hard time putting down. When I got to the end I couldn’t believe I was left hanging on the edge of a cliff!! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. I highly recommend this book.
Lance is a normal school kid until a trip to an English museum changes everything. When Lance and his friend Megan are attacked a mysterious sword appears out of a toilet and calls to Lance.

Its a great adventure full of twists and turns and keeps you hooked.

Ethan has been a vampire for 25 years after the loss of his love and an accident would have killed him without him being turned into a vampire.
Ethan has been spending time with his sire until he meets Jane. Jane seems to be everything his past love was in the way she looks and he thinks she maybe his past love reincarnated.
When Jane has a accident which would take her life Ethan steps in to save her and turns her into a vampire. Finally he thinks he has his love back but how wrong he was.
Jane is loud, outspoken and thinks she is an entitled princess. Jane and Ethan argue and bicker all the time but when they go to register Jane they realise they have 3 weeks to get Jane ready to pass and get her license. Can they work together to get this done or will both their undead lives be at risk from the stake.

Dylan is a jouranlist who is wanting to write a story about the recent “vampire” style murders. The victims are found drained of blood. Is there such a thing as vampires or is it someone who is acting like one.
She finds herself caught up in the world of the dark and undead, experiencing things she never thought she would ever experience.
Can she solve the murders or will she get dragged into the world of vampires.
Dylan is a really whitty and funny character that you cant help but fall in love with and she tells it like it is. I really enjoyed this story.

Wow what a good read. If you like stories with vampires this is definately one for you.
Piper has been hired as a house maid. When she arrives she is surprised to find her boss or bosses are six men. Not only that they are 6 of the most attractive sexually appealing men she has ever seen.
Piper starts work and everything goes well until one night she uncovers her bosses secret and then everything makes sense( the not seeing them during the day, red bottles of liquid in the fridge that she assumed was a fitness drink).
Piper is shocked but doesnt leave her job. She learns more about their lives and gets closer to some of the brothers. However her happy existance changes when at a party she meet Valentine and he takes a liking to her.
Even though Antoine said he told Valentine she wasnt for sale, he seems to have other ideas.
The book was left on a cliff edge ending. Will the brothers fight to keep her or will Valentine get his way. I cant wait to read the next book and find out.
