I love the way the author tells these Fairy Tales! Each story is different from the last, but all are interesting and well-written. Some stories are darker than others, but I can’t say I have a favorite. I also love the unpredictable nature of the stories, though I recognized a few elements in the various stories, I felt each story was something new. I will definitely be looking into more of Caitlin Berve’s works in the future!

I love fantasy and I love magic so When Magic Calls came across my radar I jumped at the chance to read it. These stories are incredibly unique, original, and I appreciated the way they were told but maybe fairytale retellings just aren’t for me. I believe they would be well received by someone who enjoyed those as that would probably add to the reading experience.

When Magic Calls: A Collection of Modern Fairy Tales is a fun retelling of classic fairy tales. This is my first book by this author, and I was not disappointed. She has created a fairy tale museum and tells well-known stories in new ways. Using fantasy, paranormal, romance, and more, the stories come to life. I also enjoyed that each story read quickly so I could catch one while waiting for meetings and other inconveniences that daily life brings. YA fans and older could enjoy the stories. The author really put effort into reworking the stories so they have their own life instead of being a standard retelling. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Brilliance The seventh book in the Masters of the Consulate series and I am still hooked. With each new book I am just blown away. Vampires, witches, alpha males, steam and such a strong storyline keeps the reader glued from start to finish. This is Master Campania’s story and he is so headstrong and as alpha as they can get. Even though this can be read as a stand alone, it would be a shame not to read all the books in the series – they are just sinfully delightful. Highly recommend.

Forbidden Blood (The Shadow Chronicles Book 4) by CR Robertson is a great paranormal experience.
Shamans had kept watch over the globe for ages, using their power to maintain equilibrium up until the time when the boundaries between the realms started to fall down. Even the oldest organizations get tainted by evil when given too much power. Kimber’s magical abilities were kept a secret by her family until she was old enough to be drafted into the vampire army, at which point her coven commander learned about them. In a dangerous game where souls are the ultimate money, she is but a pawn. That pawn became a queen when a sinister magical king invaded her life.As the eternal races start to attack each other instead of one another, magic is changing. Together, they form an army that, alone, is able to fend off the hellspawn and keep them in the underworld.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique vampire series. The story really brings passion into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. I have binge read the series at this point and I absolutely love it.

Forbidden Moon (The Shadow Chronicles Book 3) by CR Robertson is a great paranormal vampire series.

Forbidden Wolf (The Shadow Chronicles Book 1) by CR Robertson is a great vampire/wolf experience.
Levi and Tasha must continue to be sworn enemies in order to survive—one is a lycan and the other is a vampire. However, one night causes things to change, and the two begin dating. Either should be caught in a relationship that could result in execution. Their warring species will never accept their love because it is fed by hatred and stoked by territorial disputes. However, as Levi and Tasha prepare to flee, a fresh threat materializes and puts both of their worlds at risk. The two quickly realize their own secret might be the key to their species’ survival when they learn why their species has actually been kept apart all these years. But if the wrong people find out about their devotion, they can find themselves dead before they have a chance.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique vampire series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. As the story progressed, it made me glad I got the second one to get started on it right away.

I have not read the first installments of the Darkness and Light set, so this felt a bit overwhelming at first. However, the world is so immersive that I think I would have felt that way at the beginning of book 1, as well. The characters are well rounded and described and you get pulled into this elinefae world.
Arwyn and Elan are the best of friends, and always have been, along with their friend Pryderi. When P finds his fated soulmate while out on a mission, things feel a bit off with the old friends. They are just missing time with the third part of them, but they also hold feelings and desires for one another that they hold secret. Instead of enjoying their time together, it starts to become a form of torture, almost. When Pryderi’s mate, Keira, goes on a mission and returns with Hassan, it starts to become understood. When Hassan and Elan are found to be mates, Arwyn loses his mind a bit over lost opportunities, and before you know it, they feel their triad bond click into place.
There was fun banter amongst friends, vivid worlds, interesting differences between what I normally read and some very intense scenes amongst the mates.

A girl in Nee Mexico steals a magical artifact. A man in the Rocky Mountains studies a girl in the wild. A raging storm wakes a boy. What do they have in common?
Fairy tales are everywhere and are constantly being altered to match the modern world. Watch closely because you never know what fairytale you might find yourself in.
“When Magic Calls” was far from what I was expecting, but in a good way. I love a fairytale retelling, but this took telling tales to a whole new level. It was a magical twist and turn in directions I never would’ve predicted with each story told.
This collection of fairytales is different than the usual tales we hear and was truly engaging and magical. You won’t want to miss it!

This was a very unique and enjoyable collection of fairy tales for adults. The author was extremely vivid in her characters and you definitely could feel the magic within! Some of the stories I couldn’t quite place how they related to other fairy tales, but it did not make them less enjoyable. My absolutely favorites were, “Letters from a Wu”, “Borrowed Skin, Borrowed Year”, “A Love to Sleep for”, and “Bones of the Soul.” This was definitely a wonderful collection and I greatly enjoyed all of the stories. If you are a lover of fairy tales, this is a diverse collection of magical tales.

This is the seventh book in the Masters of the Consulate series, this time focusing on Master Campania and Williow. Each book can be read as a standalone, focusing on different couples, however I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning to understand the underlying storyline running through each book and the recurring characters.
Once again, I enjoyed the author’s writing style it flows nicely and is easy to follow, enhancing the reading experience. The descriptive writing paints vivid images of the setting and characters, bringing them to life.
I enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers aspect between Williow and Master Campania and the strain this causes as difficult decisions are made.
I don’t think I will ever tire of this series, and I’m always left waiting impatiently for the next book. This time will be no different!

Watchers and Brothers-in-arms, Elan and Arwyn along with Pryderi made a vow years before to never become romantically involved. Their bond is worth more than just a night of pleasure. When Pryderi returns with his mate, things start to shift. Elan and Arwn feelings for each other begin to emerge more with the two thinking that the feelings are one sided. A new man also appears stirring up more trouble.
I have read at least two books in this series and really enjoyed it. Elan and Arwn pinning for each other while in close proximity just made me want to scream ‘just talk! You will learn that the feelings are mutual.’ The oath they made may very well be the same thing that keeps them apart. With so many factors within their relationship, I was hoping for a happy ending.
I do love the characters and I hope there will be more in the series.

I have been waiting for the second installment to this series and I could not be more happy with the results. Tamaska kind of irked me in this book, I can understand her fear of dogs due to a past trauma, but I feel like Kodiak more than proved over and over that he would never hurt her and would always protect her. Shota, I could tell he was going to be a problem for the couple, he seems just so angry and has tunnel vision when it comes to Tamaska. There is still no reason as to why the vampires want her so much and what is so special about her blood, but it seems to me that Tamaska may not be all the way human. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Forbidden Wolf is about a pair of star-crossed lovers. Tasha is a vampire and Levi is a Lycan and unfortunately their species are at war with one another. The punishment of being caught together is death yet they cannot stay away from each other. Most of the book is set in Tasha’s point of view with a few chapters from Levi to tie it together. They are both realistic characters that have a strong drive that will not stop. I enjoyed their blossoming forbidden romance and hoped for them to run away together. I originally thought that this book was going to be extremely predictable, but this was not the case. Amazingly the twists and turns in the book and the ending were even better than I hoped for. Can’t wait to read the second book Forbidden Mate!

I highly recommend Forbidden Moon and the whole series The Shadow Chronicles. This book is an amazing way to close Tasha’s and Levi’s love story. Their relationship is pushed to the limit with having to lead an army against the hellspawn while protecting their daughter. It is by far my favorite of the trilogy due to learning more about the creation of vampire, lycans, and witches. I was at the edge of my seat until the very end. The ending is everything I hoped for and more, it gave me goosebumps reading it! I can’t wait to read the next in the series Forbidden Blood.

Forbidden Blood takes place during Forbidden Moon but with the different viewpoints of Kimber and Fabian. Kimber is Tasha’s younger sister who has never felt like she belonged anywhere. Fabian is a guardian of the world to ensure balance and order. They bring out the best in one another and heal their pasts. I love this series and can’t wait for the next book!

Marked Wolf is the second book in the Protector Wolf Shifter Series by Lilliana Rose. It is an intriguing urban fantasy/paranormal romance with shifters (wolves), vampires, a precious gem called the ‘Blood Opal’, a quest, action, adventure, danger, drama, chemistry, tension, mystery, emotion, politics, high stakes, agendas, suspense, the supernatural, the threat of war, and much more. This picks up where we left off in book one. Tamaska has been targeted by the vampires and Kodiak must answer to the pack- so things are about to get ‘interesting’… I was avidly reading, immersed in the story, following along to see how it all played out. Excitedly awaiting Book #3! Happy Reading…

Master Campania is the seventh book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. I know I keep saying it, but this series really does get better with each new instalment- Ms. Black ups the ante every time- seven books in and the spark and intensity are still dialled up on high. This is another superb paranormal romance in this fantastic series- a romantic suspense/dark romance with vampires, an underworld society, mafia vibes, a fated mates element, chemistry, sizzle, witches, magic, agendas, politics, danger, emotion, action, dramatic developments, duty vs love, trust issues, choices, and plenty of passion. This could be read as a standalone if you wanted- but having said that, I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before beginning this one because each instalment in the series focuses on its own separate character/s, and there are also some interconnected details, as well as recurring characters that span the series- so I really recommend reading from the beginning, so you know what’s happened right from the start. Plus, you would be seriously missing out on some fantastic stories if you ignored the other six books. The best part about this series is that there are 12 books planned…. which means more sexy vampires still to come! Oh, and did I mention VAMPIRES!!!!! Bring on Book Eight- I can’t wait!!! Happy Reading…

I was anticipating this Book #4 in the Shadow Chronicles series….and boy oh boy it did NOT disappoint! I have loved this series from the beginning and I highly recommend starting with book #1. The cover…wow….stunning….the story giving me all the feels I love about paranormal romance with a mix of vampires, lycans, magic, danger, secrets and twisty roller coaster of emotions…… I really feel that 5 Stars is not enough…..this book was fantastic.
Kimber, the younger sister of Tasha, is a vampire with special powers…..Kimber was subjected to cruelty by her coven leader because of her gifts…and she feels that these gifts are more of a curse than for good. Fabian is a Shaman who has this compassion and empathy….looking from the outside in… but has this sense of being and helping Kimber find her way and make her feel safe once again.
Will dark magic and danger threaten Kimber and Fabian…….definitely read and find out! I am hoping that this author continues this series…..highly recommended!

Intrigue. While this is the fourth book in the series I had originally planned to begin with this book in the series, thankfully I followed the advice of the reviews and went back to book one first. Yes, this book I feel could be read as a standalone, but it could get confusing in some places with other characters if you don’t have the full background to this point to fully understand the weight of the situation. Following the perspectives of Fabian and Kimber this book is the beginning of their story, but it also fills in some questions of the previous three books. Spanning immense time compared to the first three books we first met Fabian, 200 years ago. While a part of a search unit he began to have doubts and questions about what he had been told and the first was about a hellhound, Ginger. He follows his gut and is proven to be right that a soul born in hell does not mean that it is evil, it can live once more on Earth, peacefully. After his unit is ended, he is allocated to Guyana as his area to protect and keep safe. Time jump, five years ago, Kimber is now in her conscription and hates it but more, so she feels she is defective. She doesn’t look like a vampire or have the same appetite, though she forces herself to grab a bag she doesn’t let the blood touch her tongue. Unfortunately, the ick that is Castus is present and like her older sister Tasha he takes an unwelcomed interest in Kimber. The problem being her gift that protects her from unwanted “affection”. Now she is a part of Castus’ collection of rare and beautiful things. Flashes of his experiments flood her mind at first touch, and she prays to the Great Goddess to save her from her prison. Will Kimber be free before she is permanently destroyed? Can Fabian discover the plan of the mad scientist before it gets too late? Is Ginger safe from the masters Fabian saved her from? Once again, the author adds so much to the world that she has created. While the previous three books built the world it never stopped revealing more of its secrets. The same holds true for this book as magic has returned and their world is now being revealed as Kimber finds her place in the chaos of war and life. Also, while Tasha and Levi will forever hold a special part of my heart Kimber and Fabian now have their place as CR Robertson has truly become one of my new favorite authors. Her characters leave you begging for more even when you reach the last page. Fingers tightly crossed for a fifth book soon.

This book is a part of the Darkness & Light Duology, but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone book. The characters are very well defined and the author makes sure to include information for the readers to assure they can follow along with the story without having read other books. She isn’t limited in her use of “cuss words” which, lets face it, sometimes just make the story that much more relatable. Her world building is out of this world. I want to get lost here and become one with the story. I highly recommend this story.

Marked Wolf is the second book in the Protector Wolf Shifter Series and takes up where the first book Shadow Wolf finished. It is a paranormal romance story where the journey continues for Tamaska and Kodiak. This fast-paced intriguing forbidden love story is as intense as it is mysterious as it is suspenseful and is action packed and full of drama, danger, tension, and romance. At times is has you on the edge of your seat and gets your heart going. Tamaska is new to the darkness in the world, but she will not let that darkness win. She is on the hunt to take the blood opal back from the vampires. Kodiak is a wolf shifter and. With his protective instincts on high and his heart falling hard he knows his kind does not take kindly to humans. In fact, a relationship between the two is forbidden. I came away with a few unanswered questions from the first book and they have mostly been answered but now I have more hopefully the next book will explain. Set in an urban fantasy world of vampires and shifters what more do you need.

This is book 3 in The Shadow Chronicles, and so far, my favorite. It is still following the story of Levi and Tasha, as well as the war with the hellspawns.
Finally, Lycans and Vampires are now allying instead of enemies and have created a new army in order to fight the hellspawns that have emerged from nowhere. Secrets are flying every which way and the truth will be revealed.
The story of Tasha and Levi is coming to an end, and it is bittersweet. They have taken us on a wild ride throughout these 3 books and I loved every second of it. I highly recommend that you read both of the previous books before reading this one. We are also introduced to a few new characters in this book, and I cannot wait for book 4 for the spin off involving Tasha’s younger sister!
While there is a war going on with the hellspawns, there is also evil that is threatening to tear Tasha and Levi apart. They have been through so much as a couple and their love prevails through everything thrown at them.
I 100% recommend this book to anyone who loves action, suspense, and paranormal romance!

This is book 2 in The Shadow Chronicles and is a continuation of Tasha and Levi’s forbidden love story. Tasha is a unique Vampire and Levi is a Lycan. This book is full of action and more secrets are unveiled. There were a lot of twists and turns. It took me a little longer to read this second book than the first, but it is still an absolutely wonderful book. My biggest issue with this book is how much Tasha starts to lean on Levi, when she knows she is strong and perfectly capable. It makes her seem a good bit weaker throughout the book.
Tasha begins to learn how much of her life was based on lies. How far will Castus go to claim something that was never his in the beginning? Will the Vampires and Lycans be able to work together and defeat the hellspawns?
The book focuses on two things, the war and the love between Tasha and Levi. While the war is full of action and violence, their love is sweet and steamy!
Cannot wait to read book 3. Definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance!

This is the first book in The Shadow Chronicles and follows the story of Tasha and Levi. It is a vampire and Lycan forbidden love story. The book from the beginning sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. I have read plenty Lycan/Vampire forbidden love, but this book was insanely different and nothing like I have read before.
There are a few steamy scenes, lots of suspense and action, and includes hidden agendas, drama, and of course magic!
Tasha is a young vampire with unique abilities unlike anyone else in her species. She is trying to protect her younger sister from their leader and is willing to sacrifice everything, that is, until she met Levi.
The book is told mainly from Tasha’s POV, but there are a few chapters where we get to be inside Levi’s mind and see how he feels about Tasha.
So much time has passed since they first seen each other. Will the feel the same after ten years? Will they succeed in find out what is killing every person they know? Will they meet in Paris? Will they end the war between their species?
Love, Love, Love this book and cannot wait to run and read book 2!

This is the fourth book in The Shadow Chronicles. It is a continuation of the first three books, but this book is the story of Kimber and Fabien. I absolutely loved this everything in this book. C.R Robertson always makes sure in include wonderful imagery that pulls you right in. The Shadow Chronicles are paranormal stories about vampires and Lycans on their journey to love. I was glued to this book from the time I opened it to the time I finished it.
Kimber is the younger sister vampire of Tasha (who the first 3 books are about). She possesses special abilities that regular vampires do not have. Kimber has the ability to sense and feel everyone’s emotions and pain as well as has visions of the future. She has never felt like she belonged anywhere and felt like she was never enough because she was in the shadow of her older sister.
The story is very fast paced so hold on to your pants, because it will take you through almost every emotion within a small-time frame. It is an incredible action packed, paranormal romance, with vampires, lycans, magic, HOT chemistry, secrets, violence, and my favorite – forbidden romance.
“I followed Kimber out the door into the inky darkness of the night, because for her alone I would break all the rules and cloak myself in death.”
Fabien is the only person who ever made Kimber feel safe, who believed her, and who would burn the world down just to make her smile.
Absolutely wonderful book to read, and I definitely recommend.

Forbidden Blood is the fourth book in The Shadow Chronicles series. I picked this up because the cover caught my attention, and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed this book and will grab the earlier ones in the series now. I have a feeling that this would be even better enjoyed after having read the previous books. The story focuses on Kimber, whom her family has hidden away to protect her. Fabian is a shaman who feels greater compassion than others of his kind. This is a paranormal romance that deals with vampires, shamans, and more. I really enjoyed the world-building and character development in this book. The storyline kept me intrigued and wanting to see where the story would lead. I did not want to put it down. Because of the great characters and story, I look forward to returning and catching the earlier books in this series.

I loved every single bit of the previous three books in this series, so when I found out there was a fourth installment, I was over the MOON excited! The previous focused on Tasha and Levi, so this one was a nice expansion of Kimber and Fabian. Kimber is Tasha’s little sister who has always felt like an outcast. Fabian is a dreamboat in her eyes. I really enjoyed seeing them grow alongside each other as the action-packed storyline took us on a crazy adventure. Though you may be able to enjoy this as a standalone, I HIGHLY recommend picking up the previous books as they do build upon each other. This author has quickly become one of my very favorites and I bet you’ll feel the same. She has a way of pulling you in with her captivating writing style, and never lets go as the flow of the story just takes you away. I cannot wait to see where we go from here!

This has become my favorite paranormal series, bar none. I found myself reading as quickly as I could to see what happens, and then going back to read slower to really soak in Tasha and Levi’s adventures. If you’ve found this book first somehow, please pick up the first two because the story is definitely a progression through each read. You won’t regret picking them up either because they are simply fantastic. If you thought you could pin down every paranormal romance, this author will prove you wrong QUICKLY. I absolutely loved the action-packed scenes combined with the magnificent chemistry that jumps straight off the pages. I highly recommend picking this series up if you love paranormal romance, but even if you don’t I beg that you give it a chance!
