Emissary (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet) by A.L. Morrow – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Emissary: An MM Forbidden Romance (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet)Emissary: An MM Forbidden Romance by A.L. Morrow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kai is known as an Emissary, or Angel of Death, who along with Messengers are those that hunt down and destroy Watchers and demons. His life is full of darkness and loneliness, and he has become even more lonely after an error in judgement caused the death of his true love. Kai’s life revolves around following orders dictated by the stars, so he finds himself conflicted when he is ordered to kill a demon named Byron, but the stars tell him that it is not Byron’s time for death yet.

Byron is a demon who has had a rough life and has struggled to survive in a world where death chases after him constantly. Someone wants Byron dead, and he feels that death will be inevitable when he meets Kai. Instead, Kai not only saves his life but teams up with him to find out who is trying to kill Byron. The two find themselves on the run as they race to get to the truth behind who the person responsible is. Their time together draws them closer and their attraction to one another grows more intense.

This book was an intense, action-packed read from start to finish. The author did an amazing job of vividly describing the worlds of each character, and each scene jumped off the pages. Kai and Byron’s relationship is complex due to Kai being an Emissary and Byron being a demon but the attraction they feel towards one another is undeniable. Complicating matters farther is the feelings that Kai has about the tragic loss of his true love which leave him feeling remorse and sadness. I found their storyline interesting and loved the idea that just because you are an Angel does not mean that you are any better than a demon. Kai and Byron may have been from two different worlds, but their relationship worked. The storyline of who Byron’s father was took me by surprise and I can honestly say that I never saw that twist coming. A great read from start to finish.

Emissary (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet) Can be read as a standalone but if you read this one I would recommend you definitely read Watcher by this author as this story is also a Prequel to that one. This is the second time picking up a book by author A. L. Morrow and again knocked it out of the park. She wrote another tantalizing story. It’s also another m/m story. With some steamy bits between Kai and Byron. After reading Watcher I was interested in seeing what else the author had in-store and I’m glad I picked it up 😊 I’ll be on the lookout for the sequel to the first book.

This book really caught my attention from the minute I read the blurb and I just knew this was a book was going to have to read. I wasn’t disappointed either. The characters in this book were fantastic. Their connection felt so real and relatable. I wanted to know more about them and watch how their relationship progressed.
And for me, it wasn’t just about the characters in this book. The storyline was just as strong and engaging. Although it was a prequel I thought this author did a great job at tying everything together. This author is one that I always really enjoy and this book is no exception. I am already looking forward to whatever comes next.

Frozen By Lies (Sleigh Riders Book 1) by Martha Sweeney – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book in the Sleigh Rider Series!! I absolutely loved this book. It took me one day to read it, it is that good. Noelle Frost and Nicklaus Klaus come from two different clans who’ve apparently had a feud many years ago, yet no one knows what the feud was about. Can Noelle and Nickolas stop this feud together? You need to read it to find out!!!!  This is a journey that not everyone can ride in however I promise it is worth reading. I can’t wait to read book two and see what journey lies ahead in that one.

Ok, I needed this story. I haven’t chuckled this hard in a while. The characters are endearingly romantic yet rough. The Frost and Klaus feud, love this. The paranormal twist with bikers is a fantastic idea that I’m glad the author ran with. I found the storyline engaging. It could be my twisted imagination. I love these kinds of stories. I want more of this. I don’t think we have enough. It’s a fun story that engages you and grabs you. I will look for more by this author.

I found this one to be quite the intense story. I understand that this was the prequel to Watcher. I do agree that it could be read as a standalone. It is action-packed . I loved the paranormal/fantasy twist with angels/demons among the humans. The storyline kept me hooked. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The characters, I can’t say enough. They are out of this world, exciting. A good read that fans of this genre will love.

This book was an interesting read. the story between Malakai and Bryon was like no other, especially on how your inner self can reflect on how you view others or celestials. Also, how this book took a turn from hunting these entities to falling for them a helping instead, was an amazing turn of events. This book really kept me guessing while I was reading it. The way the author visibly wrote out the worlds in this book made you feel like you were right in the book. This book is also very good without having to read the others, but I highly suggest you do, you will not be disappointed.

Martha writes a variety of genres and I first came across her work when reading the Killmores books which I looooooved and was excited to see what the Sleigh Riders series promises to be.
Frozen By Lies is her first foray in to paranormal/fantasy romance genre. As Martha says the Sleigh Riders series features bikers, swearing, spiked hot chocolate, magic, innuendos. It is a forbidden fruit romance tale that is an original idea but at times kept me a little frustrated.

The Frost and Klaus clan have been enemies for longer than anyone can remember and none are aware of the reason why. However when Noelle sees Nik suddenly the feud no longer makes sense. Nik has not seen anything more beautiful but what will happen if he gives in. With Christmas in the air not even the snow and delights weather this storm.
I liked the characters. There is action and danger, secrets and lies, mysteries and loss. I was disappointed because I wanted more. The story could have been great but the innuendos where too much at times, a little over the top. I often had to back track as I would lose track of what I had read.
I look forward to see what Martha gives us next. If you are looking for a sweet town romance then this is not the book for you.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging paranormal romantic fantasy adventure. As promised it was a mix of bikers, feuding clans, swearing, mates and magic, spiked hot chocolate and plenty of innuendos. The feud between the Frost Clan and the Klaus Clan has been going on for so many generations that most of them don’t know the origins. All anyone knows is that, ‘the bitter fault of one caused the magic from within to wither and die”. Things become complicated when Noelle Frost and Nikolaus Klaus find themselves drawn to each other. However, this could destroy both their worlds, unless the couple have the power to restore balance to the world by bridging the ancient chasm. The storyline obviously has echoes of Romeo and Juliet, but with spiked hot chocolate! The descriptive narrative brings the characters and the setting magically to life which made me feel immersed in this fantasy story.

Frozen By Lies (Sleigh Riders Book 1) by Martha Sweeney. This is a fun supernatural read. This is the story of Noelle Frost & Nikolaus Klaus whose parents hate each other. Their families have been at war forever and they don’t plan on changing anytime soon. Noelle & Nikolaus love each other and that adds huge complications. They are fated to be together so they truly believe they are doing the right thing. Noelle is a tough, biker chick that doesn’t put up with crap but she does let her family boss her around. As they navigate their relationship all kinds of adventure ensues and you will keep flipping pages thru the night. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next book.

Frozen By Lies is the first book in the Sleigh Riders series by Martha Sweeney. I was so excited to see that Ms. Sweeney had released this new book, as I have loved her other works- and to find that this is a fantasy was just the icing on the cake for me.
Noelle Frost and Nikolaus Klaus take us on a bit of a mad-cap romp- with plenty of eye twinkles, spiked hot chocolate, and cheeky innuendos. With bad blood between their families, their feuding clans are an added complication to romance. But fate has plans for them, and draws them together with a higher agenda at stake. And so their adventure begin
It is a fun Urban fantasy- with feuding clans, magic, paranormal elements, a small-town setting, snow, bikers, funny banter/quips/antics, chemistry, fated-mates, family feuds, clean/closed door romance, and insta-love, providing a holiday romance with a fun difference.
I enjoyed the story, for the most-part and look forward to seeing where we go from here with the next instalment. The dialogue frustrated me at times with some very ott spoofy innuendos that were overdone (in my opinion). If the innuendos were toned down a few notches, the story would have been much more enjoyable, but as it is they left me frustrated and definitely disrupted the flow of the story for me as I stopped to roll my eyes every few moments.
I really wanted to LOVE this story so much more than I did. I had high hopes for this book, but it just didn’t deliver like I had hoped. Maybe the issues I had with it will be sorted by the next instalment- I’m curious to find out.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Martha Sweeney!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ms. Rose penned an intriguing mystery that dances within paranormal sects as a mysterious security detail is tasked to protect the “Blood Opal” on display for one night only- a night that ends in disaster for Tamaska, the event organizer, and Kodiak, the head of security.
The first in a series (of hopefully many), Tamaska and Kodiak cross path multiple times while on the search for the Blood Opal, Tamaska to save her career, Kodiak to save his pack. Vampires, Werewolves and a lot of sexual tension fill this page turner with excitement, intrigue and anticipation of what’s to come in the next installment of the Protector Wolf Shifter Series.

The three quickly became best friends. She didn’t dream of them every night, but when she did, she was happy. The boys were older than her and became like brothers to her.

Eventually, their friendship turned into something more. Maddie was sad because they were only in her dreams. But years later, Maddie realizes just how real her men are when they show up at her art studio.

When it first started this book it had me intrigued but it did take me a little while to get fully into the story completely but once I did I enjoyed it. Just remember just because I took my time it won’t mean you will too. We are all different after all.
Noelle Frost and Nikolaus Klaus are great characters with fun back and forth banter who I really enjoyed. When they first met and her family was so over bearing I wanted to yell at them myself Lol. They are basically bikers from rival clans with obvious attraction to each other and her family absolutely hate that!! Eventually though their attraction becomes so much more. With so many secrets all around them its inevitable that their path is not a smooth one. I don’t want to say too much about the actual storyline as I know I would just give way too much away. You need to read this for yourself. I will definitely be returning for more!!

Book 1 of this series introduces the main heroine of this series, Tamaska. Work is her life and she has a big event coming up that requires a last minute change in security. This is when she meets the abrasive and prickly head of security, Kodiak with Shadow Protection. He’s a tall drink of water that immediately gets on her bad side. Yet, there’s something about him that she cannot ignore. The attraction is instant but she tries to ignore it since she has to focus on this big event. Things quickly go wrong and the Blood Opal is mysteriously wrong. Now her job is on the line. She’s still on the fence if Kodiak had anything to do with it even if he vehemently denies it. She needs to find the Opal, save her job, and shake off this pull she feels every time she looks at the handsome security guy. Who can she trust? How can she find the Opal? Can her friend Tahla help without getting into danger?

This book is a romantic mystery that will have you feeling all while falling for the characters.

This is the first book I have read from this author and wow she has me hooked. I love a good paranormal romance story and this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book of the new protector wolf shifter series and let me say I can’t wait to see who she will write about next.

Tamaska loves her job and the people that she meets. She is put in charge of one of the most important jobs of her life and it was stolen. Tamaska hired Kodiak and his crew to watch over the opal for the night. She has no idea who could have taken the opal without being seen. Tamaska is about to learn that Kodiak and the others are keeping a secret but would it be worse if she knew? Will Tamaska find the opal or will it be too late and the world as she knows it will end?

Three Made In Heaven (Made In Heaven #1) by Elena Kincaid – Review by Darian Vester

Three Made in Heaven (Made in Heaven, #1)Three Made in Heaven by Elena Kincaid
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Although some moments were entertaining and made me laugh, I felt there was no story here.
I thought it was weird the author starts our female character out as a nine year old who cries everyday because she hasn’t seen “her boys.” It had me questioning her sanity. What really disappointed me was that we don’t see the three of them with a real friendship, and it’s not because they’re only dreaming of each other. I’m talking about the only interaction we see is the boys getting mad at her over ridiculous things. They yell at her for no reason and that’s a red flag. Another red flag is one of them punching the wall because she wants to be with someone “real.” And she has to apologize to them!
The story does start to become steamy, and the characters begin to feel like there is some chemistry.
Our female character starts to develop nightmares, which felt random, and the drama to go with it was barely there and made no sense. Overall the book just didn’t flow and for me felt all over the place since there was no real plot to the story.

‘Feared. Hunted. Shunned.’

Fallen Soul is the fourth instalment in the War of Destiny series by Theresa Van Spankeren. Each book in this series builds on what has come previously, making for a fantastic read. I highly recommend reading the previous three books before starting on this one, because as I mentioned, the instalments build on one another, creating a ‘bigger picture’, not to mention hours of entertaining adventure to plunge into.
This is an original, clever and intriguing paranormal saga with vampires, action, adventure, high stakes, politics, agendas, atmospheric world building, danger, tense developments, violence, and plenty of suspense.
Happy reading!

Trigger warning: May have scenes of violence too intense for some readers.
Fallen Soul is the fourth book in the unique and dark War of Destiny series. It is a paranormal, fantasy story with vampires. Who doesn’t love a good vampire story? It is as engaging as the other books.
Lane tired and longs for the home he once had. He is trying to keep ahead of the Vampire King who wants his head. Danger is everywhere. But when he stumbles up something he has not seen before he is not sure if it is friend or foe.
Theresa is a great storyteller and at weaving a wonderful tale. There is plenty of violence and action and the characters have depth and meaning. War of Destiny is a multi-layered and exciting series. With lots of intense danger, intrigue, imagination and twists and turns will keep you glued to the pages.
Don’t miss out on this epic series where the tension is ripe.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Madeline is 9 years old when she first meets Charlie and Cole. Even though they only see each other in dreams, they build a friendship as the years pass. There was an instant sense of connection which only grew stronger over time. Their attraction to each other also grew. Even as Maddie grows up and has relationships in the real world, she feels as though she is betraying Charlie and Cole.

However, once the nightmares start, their relationship moves into the real world. Charlie and Cole are determined to find the person who is tormenting Maddie’s dreams. When dreams turn into reality, Charlie and Cole are determined to keep her safe. Will they be able to stop the nightmare from becoming a reality?!?

This was a quick and easy read. It was an interesting take on a fated-soulmates storyline. There was a lot of steam…so be prepared for that. I enjoyed the “dream walking” aspect and found the reason they all met intriguing. Overall, a good story that I enjoyed reading.

The fantasy twist in this book is one I haven’t encountered before and I really adored how this story was built! The three main characters meet as children and build an unbreakable bond, in their shared dream. As they grow up the love they share changes and grows as they do, yet the belief that they are all just conjuring’s from each other’s minds is a thread of doubt in all of their minds. What will happen if they try to find out the truth?! I just can’t stop raving about this book. The adult scenes are steamy as all get out, but the building of the relationship from the very first page is absolutely grippingly written! Read this one peeps, you won’t regret it!
