Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book three of the series and can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend reading the whole series because each book is fantastic!

Colleen is Parker’s only hairstylist. She’s not had much stability in her life and lacks confidence so she really tries to steer clear of many people. Brant has never had any ties accept for his adoptive mother. If he can stay in Parker for three years, his school loans are free and clear. He’s sure he will walk away after three years no problem. Best laid plans and all that. Brant and CC meet after an auction date is purchased for CC. Both of them have baggage that weighs them down. Will these two work passed the demons of their past or will it all be too much?

I really enjoyed this book, much like the others in the series. I couldn’t put it down! CC struggles with confidence but works to help everyone else feel great about themselves. She’s so selfless. I really enjoyed both CC and Brant as characters. I highly recommend!

4 out of 5 Stars

Colleen “CC” Chandler is a hairstylist in small-town Oklahoma. CC has lived there most of her life. She doesn’t plan on going anywhere. CC owns the salon and another building that she has plans for, if she can ever get the money.

Brant Billings is in the same smalltown but not because he wants to be. Brant has found a way to get his student loans forgiven, spend 3 years in rural America where there is limited access to health care. He is two and half years in. Brant noticed the extremely attractive hairstylist shortly after getting to town but she, CC, seems to avoid him.

Brant agrees to partake in a bachelor auction that the town is holding to raise funds to help CC make her dream for her extra building come true. This is just the start of CC and Brant being in the same place at the same time. As their mutual attraction grows, so does their friendship. Will this be the beginning of something special? When his time is up, is Brant gone?

This endearing tale of love and finding more than what you expect is cleverly written. The colorful cast of characters grab you from the start. The townsfolk keep the excitement and the laughs coming. Be prepared to laugh out loud, like milk (or water, in my case) coming out of the nose laughing! I am just jumping into this series but I plan to make a u-turn and find out what I missed. Great read with a little steam!!!

Oh, how I loved this book! Such a great story of judging a book by it’s supposed cover! The story of CC and Brant is fantastic read! The characters are well developed, and it gives more back story into previous characters mentioned. The friendships are very easy to relate to and the women building each other up is lovely to read and visualize. I want to be friends with these people and live in their town! The old people humor cracks me up and makes me think that I haven’t been around enough of them, LOL This was a fun book to end my year reading! Looking forward to reading more books from the Parker Lake area soon!

Like the first 2 instalments in this series, this book is equally as emotionally invested yet humorous. I love this writing style and just wish it wouldn’t finish. Brant and Colleen have great chemistry and had me right there with them as their story unfolded- laughing, crying and everything in-between. This series could be read as stand alones but I would definitely recommend starting at book one, its worth it.

Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in this series I was looking forward to this novel and I was not disappointed. It was nice to be back in the small town of Parker and with the group of friends who live there. This was Colleen “CC” Chandler‘s story, having always lived in her small home town, working as a hair stylist, her unstable upbringing had left her lacking in confidence. When Brant Billings accepts a job in Parker, Oklahoma as a nurse practitioner at the towns clinic his plan is to only stay for three years, to earn enough to pay back his student loans. Being raised as a foster kid he’s used to moving on, however, that was before he met CC, the only problem was she seemed to be avoiding him. Meanwhile, CC feels that she is ‘only’ a hairdresser and thinking that Brant is much smarter than her and will only be around for a short time, she try’s to ignore the instant attraction she has for him and avoids him. Brant and CC are brought together when CC’s friends buy her a date with Brant at the towns eligible bachelor auction.
I was cheering the couple on, hoping they would be able to overcome their pasts and get the HEA they both deserved. I loved CC and Brant and how their relationship developed over time. The chemistry between them really came across in the writing. As usual, the setting came alive by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in small town living, in Parker. I enjoyed ‘catching up’ with characters from the previous novels, however, it can be read as a standalone story. An enjoyable and engaging read.

Five Stars

Unlikely To Stay is the third book in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood . This book can be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend reading this series in order. The Parker Lake series is one of my top ten series I have read. The characters are believable and down to earth. This book features CC, who is the town beautician who has a confidence problem and Brant, who is a nurse practitioner that moved to Parker Lake to get his student loans paid off. Both are afraid of commitment, but the chemistry between the two is off the charts. Will they be able to overcome their issues, or will they go their separate ways? I highly recommend this book, series and author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlikely to Stay by Olivia Sherwood is the third book in the Parker Lake series and is centred around Brant and Colleen or CC as she is know by and is a great romantic story.

The story is a fast flowing, well written story which brought theses to characters to life, I love a book that you can just get lost into and Unlikely to stay is a great story to do this with. I enjoyed all the characters that were in this book but I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters Brant and Colleen.

Brant is a nurse practitioner and Colleen or CC is a hairdresser within the town of Parker, both have serious crushes on each other but are not prepared to admit just yet that until one night CC’s friend’s decide to bid in the bachelor auction and buy CC a date with the handsome Brant.

They hit it off and the rest is history, but will there pasts be the ending to the new relationship they have created or will it be too late for it to be over. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and hope these wonderful characters are included in the other books. I would recommend this series to my friends.

Heartbreak, healing and humour
It was so good to be back in the small town of Parker and getting to know Breckin and Griff. Their story was heartfelt and beautiful. The author’s delivery is amazing with a brilliant mix of humour, romance, drama and real life issues. This can be read as a stand-alone but it is so worth reading book 1 to get to know the town and the people more. I am really looking forward to CC and Brant’s story in book 3.

I absolutely could not put this book down! I love this story so much. Ever since I read the first book in this series, I’ve been waiting for CC to meet the right man and have her chance to fall in love. Even though CC comes across as tough and not caring what other people think, she’s actually really vulnerable and doesn’t have much self confidence at all. She thinks there’s no way that a hot man that went to college to be in the medical field would ever be interested in her. She underestimates herself and how amazing she is constantly. Brant is dealing with his own demons from his past and he falls so fast for CC. I love how he picks a special nickname that’s sweet and just for him to call her and Memaw is back in this one and hilarious as ever! I can’t say enough good things about this sweet amazing romance. It’s one that’s definitely not to be missed!

I was excited to get the next book in the series. It was a great 5 star read. I really enjoyed the characters and their story.

CC and Brant have both had some tough childhoods which have caused walls to come up and insecurities. CC is the town’s hairstylist and Brant is the local doctor. They have definitely noticed each other for about two years now. Thanks to their friends they are set up on a date. Will the date finally get them going in the right direction? Can they have a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I really liked all of the secondary characters, it was like a reunion from the first two books. I really liked her high school friends Annabelle and Breckin. I was pulled right in by the author’s writing and was on an emotional rollercoaster. You can read this book as a stand alone but I highly suggest reading from the beginning. I can’t wait for the next book in the series, 1-click and get started today.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the series…but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

The cast of characters from the first two books are back…but this time we are focusing on CC. CC is the town hairstylist…and best friend to Anabelle and Breckin. She has come to terms with the fact that she is an outcast and will probably be alone forever. She is crushing on Brant, who runs the town’s clinic, for 2 years…but she knows that he’s too good for her so she won’t even take her shot.

Brant moved to Parker Lake a couple of years ago and is running the local clinic. He had a rough childhood and was in foster care for a while…so he is set in his ways of not forming attachments. He has noticed the hairstylist in town…but their interactions thus far have led him to believe that she hates him.

So…when meddling friends step in and set them up on a date. When they find out that their initial assumptions about each other are wrong, can they get out of their own ways to see if they could be more than friends? Or are they too stuck in their ways to take the chance? (You will have to read to find out)

I really enjoyed this story. Brant and CC are both great characters that have been shaped by their childhoods. The friendship they create is amazing…and the way they grow as people is even more special. I have enjoyed the books in the series and this was no exception.

Unlikely to Stay is the third book in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood (Ashlie Knapp). This is a great contemporary romance- a bit of a rom-com, with wonderful characters, an engaging storyline, humour, emotion, a small town setting, chemistry, drama, banter, antics, and much more.
I really love this series and the wonderfully endearing characters, and I can see this making a great movie series. The author’s storytelling really brings these characters and their stories to life- and that would translate to television beautifully.
I am really looking forward to seeing what ‘Unlikely to Tell” (Book #4) brings!
Happy reading!

Once again this author gives us a sweet romance with a perfect plot that flows beautifully, and loveable characters. While this is the third book in the series you could most certainly read it as a standalone. However I recommend reading the entire series as this author is very good at hooking her readers know sweet romances. This book follows Colleen and Brant both of which think they don’t have a chance with the other. Who will take a chance and shoot their shot? Will Brant finally work up the courage to ask out Colleen? Or will it be the other way around? You’ll have to read this sweet romance, with our lovable characters to find out for yourself.

As usual, this amazing author does a truly wonderful job in putting together a story that hooks you right from the start, and really holds that grip on you. I expect nothing less from this amazing author. I was hooked and interested in the concept of the story straight on, and I could not let go of this one.

The emotions are so real in this one. You felt the wonder of the two star crossed souls, but for me I felt their pain and worry so much. It ran deep, but I really felt the attraction was running deeper than there own pasts and hurt. I found Brant and C.C. really had something special, there bonding was not just sugar and all things nice, you really had that dash of spice as well. I was full of emotions on this spinning ride, it was beautiful, but deep as character depth and growth goes. Wonderful read. I loved how they seemed so different at first glance, and once they stopped butting heads (which was comical and funny in its own way which I did admire) I found they found ground, that literally could sweep them off their feet! They were real and a wonderful development in the story. I could not get enough of this story and characters!

Love this author with all the passion and love with in my heart! The author is a very wonderful writer, and their stories always take my soul, and give me quite a ride. They are not to be passed up. Or this book, I would recommend them both on the same account! Love this book and this amazing author!

I am so addicted to this series, I just want more and more!! Do yourself a huge favour and grab all the Parker Lake novels and read them now!! This book can be read as a standalone and be enjoyed but characters from previous books are all through the book and because I had read the previous 2 books I was excited to read more of the fun they were also having. I can’t wait to read more and see what is next for the wonderful people of Parker Lake. I so wish I could live there!

Book 3 brings us the story of the wonderful Colleen, or CC to her friends, and Brant. After avoiding Brant like the plague, even though she was very attracted to him, gorgeous CC ends up on a date with him where she soon discovers there is so much more to him than she first believed. Brant himself is shocked at how much he opens up to CC right from the very start. Together they get to know each other and love blooms! But we all know the road to true love is not always a smooth one so you need to read this fantastic novel for yourself to see if they can make things work.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlikely to stay is a perfect title for this book. Brant is the town nurse/doctor. His patients love him but they give him a hard time as well. Those oldies are going to be the death of him. Anyway Brant is a nice guy with a difficult past. I love the idea that he wears suspenders. Just not the idea of why he wears them. He’s been in town for two and a half years and has yet to talk it CC. She bolts or shoots daggers at him every time they cross paths. Thankfully her friends intervened if only he could get CC to go along with the plan.
CC thinks Brant too high in social status for her. So she gives him no encouragement. She decided to add to her hair cutting salon and put a gym in next door for the residents. Her friends give her some help but not the kind she really wants.

The elderly in this town are crazy! I think there is something in the water. They all act like teenagers or at least twenty somethings. Kelda leads with pack with live in boyfriend, Burt. Marty and his issues! Ha! These characters are all a hoot!

What a Romantic story to get to read. This is a story of two unlikely people, Brant Billings and Colleen (C.C.) Chandler. Two young people who have never felt stable where they were, both in a small town in Parker Oklahoma. Brant, a Practitioner Nurse needs to stay for 3 years before his student loans will go away. This should be easy for him. But once C.C. comes into the picture things are bound to change. C.C. is the town hair stylist and loves her job. She is always helping others to look their best. But she tends to shy away from those who she thinks have more knowledge than she. This author brings two people together in her story. Not before you read more of who they are. I love Brant and Colleen’s story. I laughed, cried and watched these two unlikely people find their own way. This is the 3rd book in this series, it can be read by itself, but I recommend you read the first two books in this series. Get to know the town’s people and how they work together.

Oh my goodness, I love this series so so much! I love this author and will read anything she decides to write. I love her way of adding in humorous dialogue between her characters and the way she keeps things real throughout.

Her stories flow so easily that you don’t even realize you are at the end until it happens. I read this in one sitting, I enjoyed it so much I just couldn’t put it down. I have absolutely fallen in love with this town and its residents. Some are almost too quirky but I absolutely love them and am so glad they are the way they are. I found myself with a smile on my face and laughing out loud many times, yes I also got very emotional at times because a few of the stories about these people absolutely broke my heart. Brant and CC were an amazing lead couple, I loved them both and Brants Mom, omg she was a hoot!

The friendship and family aspect of this story was my favorite part, which is why I will go back and read these all again. I highly recommend reading these in order, even though each focuses on a different couple, the history of these friends makes every book that much more enjoyable!

I am so very much looking forward to the next in this series and anything that this author comes up with. She is awesome and an absolute one click for me.

I loved every single word!

A five-star read that will stay with you longer than the last page. This is the third book in the Parker Lake series and in my eyes it may just be the best, I have loved having the opportunity to visit Parker and meeting the people who call it home each character brings their own uniqueness to the story and Brant Billings is one of those characters you know seems so boring on the surface with his braces and smile but when you read his story you realise there is more to Brant than the snaps he wears, he may think that it was a student loan deal that brought him to Parker but I like to think it was Fate. CC Chandler was always the girl I adored her hair colouring talents and the sheer joy she brings to people’s lives but like many who bring joy she has a pain held deep and maybe, just maybe a pair of snaps can help with that. Thank you to this author for your amazing talents you make me believe I’m in small town America and not a small village on the other side of the world.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlikely to Stay was different. It was good, but definitely different. The character growth of the main two characters was like watching magic unfold. It looks like I will be going back to read books 1 & 2 to see how they turned out. Not that I feel it’s needed; this book could very well be a stand-alone novel. I really am interested in seeing if this is how the author develops all their characters, with exceptional growth.
CC a stubborn salon owner who has come to terms of leading a lonely life. Her upbringing leads her to believe she’s an outcast, despite the fact the town loves her. She notices Brant Billings and immediately judges a book by it’s cover. That he’s out of her league and too good for her, a daughter of free spirited hippies.
Brant Billings has been in Parker OK for over 2 years now. He’s become a creature of habit, and a hermit. CC catches his eye with her beautiful bright red hair, and he really wants to know more. For some reason though CC hates him, or so he thought. She avoids it at all costs.
Until one bachelor auction finally sends these on the date they so very much needed. CC confronted with her assumptions, Brant realizing CC is a breath of fresh air he can be himself with.
What happens between them after that initial first date? Well that’s where I’m going to leave you in suspense, and say get this book now to read and find out. If I keep going I’m going to post spoilers and that’s not my goal. So just read it! It’s worth it!

Unlikely to Stay, the third book in the Parker Lake Series, focuses on hairdresser Colleen(CC) and Brant, the temporary local nurse practitioner, only in Parker to cover his loans and then he is set to go back to the big city. Both characters have their demons. CC was raised by hippy parents and had to take on the adult role well before she should have and Brant grew up in the foster system, only to be saved by his future mom who saw beyond his anger. Both have pined for one another from afar, but an auction for CC’s new gym leads to her receiving a date with Brant and we get to go on this journey of friendship and love.
This is a fast paced story, full of wonderful characters, small town drama, friendship and finding your worth. I have loved reading this series. I hope we get more because all the characters we meet in Parker are worth the deeper journey into their story.

Unlikely to Stay is the first book I have read in the Parker Lake series. I haven’t read the first two, but I am planning to go back and read them now. Unlikely to Stay is book 3 in the series, but it can certainly be read as a stand alone book. This one is amazing and has strong lovable characters. They are down to earth and relatable. The writing of this book makes me wish I lived in a small town.
Unlikely to Stay follows Brant Billings, and Colleen Chandler, known to her friends as CC. CC grew up in the small town of Parker, Oklahoma. She was always known as the weird kid, due to her hippie parents, but she has grown up and now is her own business owner. She is the town hair stylist, and is still best friends with her childhood girl friends Annabelle and Breckin. She has been crushing on the town’s Nurse for 2 years but thinks he is way out of her league.
Brant is now a successful nurse, running Parker’s Medical Clinic, but his life wasn’t always great. He had a druggie mom, that landed him in the foster care system, bouncing from home to home until he was 11. Then he was placed with Betty Billings, who took him in and changed his life for the better. Turning his life around, and adopting him. Due to his history, Brant has always kept to himself and avoided friendships and dating. He has been eyeballing the town’s hairstylist for 2 years, but thinks she hates him. CC and Brant’s friends play matchmaker, and set them up on a date. Now its up to them to put their past assumptions and fears aside, and see if they can finally have a meaningful relationship.

I love it when I read a book and then when I come to write the review, I end up just sitting at my computer looking at a blank page on the screen wondering how on earth I am going to find the words to justify how amazing the book was. That is exactly the problem I am having now! I have loved every book in this series so far but I think this one has to be my favourite. I have been waiting for CC’s story since the beginning. I love her independence and her success as a business woman. She has always been there for her friends and now they are doing something for her! I found that part really touching. She really deserved the help to get what she wanted.
I really liked Brant, and I mean REALLY liked him! He was such a genuine and nice guy. I loved the connection and chemistry between him and CC and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through!
Along with CC and Brant were some great secondary characters – I don’t want to spoil it but a certain 90-year-old is back with some hilarious tales to tell!!
I really cannot recommend this book enough – it definitely deserves 5 stars and more!

Unlikely to Stay is the third book in the Parker Lake series. This is a fun, humorous romantic story. I read this and still enjoyed it thoroughly despite not having read the other books in the series. I could tell that there were characters that were a part of the story that had probably been delved into more in the other stories, but I still could get into the story quickly of Brant and CC. Brant is a nurse practitioner in town, and CC is the small town’s hairdresser. The two are a sweet couple that came together and had me rooting for their happy ending. But, of course, they face some challenges but will they overcome the obstacles?
This is a fun, laugh-out-loud story. I enjoyed this as a perfect summer read that left a smile on my face. The characters are fun and remind me of living in a small town. I look forward to picking up some other books by this author in the future.

This is the third book in this great series which I have loved reading. I had loved reading the first two books about this group of friends and was so looking forward to CC getting her own book. It was definitely worth the wait as I adored CC and Brant’s story.
I totally love the dynamic between the group of friends, Annie, Breckin and CC. the camaraderie that have with each other, how they can insult each other and not bat an eyelid. I’d love to be part of a friendship group like this.
I totally adored Brant and seeing his relationship with CC evolve as she realises that he’s not too good for her, she’s worth more than she things she is. Brant is the local nurse practitioner and this role brings so much hilarity as it brings out the older generation that have given us so much fun in previous books. The return of Griffin’s ‘meemaw’ and her motley crue of octogenerians visiting Brant with their ailments brings so much fun and hilarity to this book. I’m left with some images that make me want to scrub my mind with a strong disinfectant.
I had thought that this would be the end of this series as all three girls now had their own story but I’m so glad to see that this series is going to continue. I can’t wait to read the next instalment.

Unlikely To Stay by Olivia Sherwood is the third book in her Parker Lake Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although the others are definitely worth a read.
Brant is familiar with the feeling of not being wanted. After his parents died he was moved from one place to the next, never finding permanence. Not until his foster mum adopted him and gave him a home.
Determined to make something of his life he attends college. However the debt he is left with afterwards forces him to take a job in a small town. But the three years he will do in the small surgery will cover all the loans. And then he is out of here.
Or so he thinks. Then he meets CC. She is independent but lacking stability. Raised by hippie parents she basically brought herself up. They are both looking for completely different things in life. And yet they can’t seem to stay away.

I found this book to be really enjoyable. I really liked both Brant and Colleen. They were fully believable as characters. Their stories were relatable which really helped to be drawn into their journey. The writing was easy flowing and carried you along without issue. A great book and one I would recommend.

Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unlikely to Stay (Parker Lake) by Olivia Sherwood. This is a great romance! I love small town romances and this series has been perfection! This one is about CC who owns the local beauty shop. CC’s mom was a hippie that moved all over the place and CC never really had a stable life because of it. Brant Billings is the new nurse in town and he’s trying to fill the shoes of the retiring dr and some residents are not taking to him. Brant has been left by his parents as a child and after several foster homes his Mom Betty Billings adopted him. Its always been him and Betty against the world. Afraid of rejection he has been single forever. When he meets CC he is interested but she seems like she hates him. He wonders what he did to her to make her feel that way. CC has always felt inferior to anyone that may be smarter than she is so that is her reluctance to Brant. Will he be able to break down her walls and let him in. Read Unlikely To Stay to find out!

Unlikely to Stay (Parker Lake) by Olivia Sherwood – Review by Shannon Fowler

Unlikely to Stay (A Parker Lake Novel Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by Knapp and it will not be my last. If you like stories with sweet hometown characters, stories with simple yet heart felt problems, then you need to read the Parker Lake Series. Unlikely to Stay is book 3 in the series and it is the story of CC and Brant. CC is the hometown Beauty Salon owner while Brant is the newest most eligible bachelor in town. However, Brant is only in town to serve a 3-year internship. This is another cute sweet story that will make Ashliee Knapp a certifiable one-click author! If you have not read any of her books you could very easily pick this one to start with. There is some back story told about CC’s friends which are books 1 and 2 in this series but each book is about a new couple. The other stories are a must read as well. I don’t think there is any one thing that I love about this book, it is just an over all good story. I can definitely recommend this story to readers young and old alike.
