I have to admit this step out of my go to genre was not a disappointment. This is the first book by this author I have read. I found the author to have a unique story and very relatable characters. I like that the heroine has a past and that she also has her own demons she is battling. There was also just the right mix of drama and suspense. This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I will definitely be reading more from this author in future.

I loved this book! It was a great mystery. I felt like the plot was realistic, we live in crazy times. I felt connected to Grace as I knew her on a personal level. I was hooked from the first page and that continued throughout the book, while I was rooting for Grace the whole time. I felt like this book was fast-paced, with tons of twists and an ending that I didn’t guess correctly!

Swipe Right to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 6) By Carrie Pulkinen
5-stars
Wow! This author amazes me time and time again, she’s one of my all-time favourites. She’s one of those one click authors for me, I will read anything by her without question!
This is the sixth book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series, a series that can easily be read as standalones but I would highly recommend the whole thing anyway because this is honestly one of the best paranormal series I’ve ever read.
The characters in this storyline are so captivating and were so easy to connect with, I found myself laughing along with them and giggling at their witty remarks. I was honestly entertained the whole way through, so much so that I read it in one sitting, I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading as I was so immersed in the story forgetting all about the real world.
I highly highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next one of a kind comedic paranormal read!

When I read this book I had no idea that it was the author’s debut novel. It was only by looking at a few other reviews before writing my own that I discovered this and it makes me admire the author even more. This is a really great piece of writing that I would have assumed was from a seasoned author. Grace is a fascinating character. She an attorney who is really down on her luck. After losing her leg in active service she then became addicted to painkillers and alcohol, resulting in a DUI, which in turn led to her losing her job as an assistant state prosecutor and the end of her marriage. Could anything else go wrong in her life? The book is a bit of a slow burn to start with but does pick up pace and soon has you on a dangerous journey full of twists and turns as Grace tries to prove the innocence of teenager Zoe who has been charged with murder and all the evidence points to her being guilty. Can grace prove that she is innocent? Or is she innocent? This really was a compelling read and I was totally engrossed in it and did not want to put it down. Definitely recommend.

A great read ex- prosecutor Grace Locke decides to switch sides and take a case as the defence attorney for a local teen from a very well-known family who has been accused of murder. But very quickly she begins to suspect her client may well be innocent. Locke is this young girls only chance of a not guilty verdict, so she must concentrate on nothing but this case and pull out the big guns of her legal background.

I am not a huge fan of historical romance I find it hard to stay concentrated but this book was good. Jacek is a soilder and a pretty good one and his only goal is to progress in his military career so he does not have time for romance. When Jacek rescues a beautiful woman called Oliwia and her brother, Jacek didn’t realise how mesmerised he could be by a woman. Oliwia has secrets of her own and things seem to be piling up against the couple that makes it seem almost impossible for their love to bloom.

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite Book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Tori Werkheiser
Oh, sweet heavens this book was just as good as the first two which are a must-read for this series. The intensity, fear, love, drama I loved it all. I have loved getting to know more characters in this world Mckinley has created. I had suspicions of who the rat would be and watching everything unfold was thrilling and totally captivating. I was not sure how things would work out I was genuinely nervous reading it all go down. I felt like I was in the middle of this circle of the Mafia Five Families and I ate up every second of it. The forbidden romance in this was so touching yet steamy. The stolen kisses and touches ugh had me weak in the knees and when they finally get together it feels like all is right in this world. This series is making me want to find a Mafia Boss of my own. 5/5 Cannot wait to devour the rest of this series as it releases this year.

Born In Darkness is the third book in the Mafia Elite series and the first book that I have read in this series. Even though I had not read the previous books, I had no problem following along. I liked the strong theme of family and the way the author contrasted the families in the book. There is also a nice portrayal of strong women and friendship. It is a quick read and though I am not usually a fan of alternating character points of view, I found that this book flowed very nicely and I did not at all mind the alternating points of view. If you enjoy forbidden romance and/or mafia-themed books then you should give this book a read.

This is the third book in the series and my third review of this series- this book was GOOD. Just like all the others- maybe even better than all the others…. I am a sucker for this storyline (vampires and lycans are sexy!!) and I’m really freaking sad the series is over- but it was a great last book to finish the series. I love love love Tasha and Levi’s romance and just can’t seem to get enough. Honestly now that I finished the series- I’ll read them again back to back (it really is that good y’all!) check this series out- y’all won’t regret it!!

Fun next installment in the engaging saga of the consulate
3rd novel in the series which should be read after books 1 and 2, as the series has an overarching storyline that we get bits of along the way. Here we continue to have a story that switches POV between the two main characters.I do enjoy that it is first person narrative and that we get more insight into their thoughts and actions this way.
Here we’re introduced to Mr. No first name Trentino and Angel. Angel ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time and he has to save her. This is sort of a love at first sight romance, but its not done too fast. I like that the pair continues getting to know one another after they’re paired. The sex scenes are more sensually done than graphic in their telling, which I enjoyed. There’s some spice, but not too much to draw the focus from what’s going on with the vampires and who’s sabotaging them.
We do get to see more of the characters from the previous books, and get caught up on how the couples are doing. I really enjoyed the ladies (Lucianna, Delilah, Embry, and Angel’s) interactions, them supporting one another and having fun together too. I really can’t wait to read a story from Embry’s POV (fingers crossed).
I enjoy this series, hence why I keep on reading them upon release, but I’m finding the same issues occurring. I previously mentioned my problem with them transporting vast distances, and my statement stands here. Why have the vampires sneaking around and trying to find a way in to a place when they just transported to that location in the first place?
Content warning for death, torture, light BDSM, talk of human trafficking and abduction.

Swipe Right to Bite is a short and sassy romantic comedy among demons. Our sexy succubus Katrina is determined to send Gorgeous Gabe the incubus packing to whatever Hell he came from, but is sidetracked by his luscious form. As a sex demon on the wagon, she is trying her mightiest to keep everyone’s clothes on, but the temptation for both is more than they bargained for (literally). The humour is very tongue-in-cheek and the witty puns are rampant in this story, similar to other works by Pulkinen. If you have read and loved any of her other works, you will find this book just as delicious. Fans of quirky humour and steamy romance will enjoy this saucy story.

Swipe Right to Bite is the sixth book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is such a fun, sexy, and humorous Paranormal Romance. I have loved every instalment in this wonderful series- which just seems to get better and better with each new addition. This book was a particularly fun read. With her popular dating app for the supernatural trending in New Orleans, Katrina is enjoying her success. Her plans are coming together nicely- but with her freedom still at stake she will need to maintain her fasting vow- not so easy for a succubus with quite a healthy appetite. But as fate would have it, she is soon thrown a curveball, in the form of a sexy incubus named Gabe. The sparks fly and things get quite heated- making for an intriguing and very fun read. Highly recommended! Enjoy!

I knew I would love this book, I was drawn to the ‘life keeps hitting hard, but I keep getting up’ heroine – a decorated veteran who came home from Iraq with both a Purple Heart and prosthetic leg. This fast paced legal thriller takes you on a ride. Great character development brought all the players to life, and I was immersed in the hot seedy Florida underworld with them.. Murder plots, illegal drug trade and betrayal kept the pages turning till the very end! Excellent debut novel.

Grace is one of the best characters I’ve read in a while! I love her sarcasm and wit, she is strong minded and completely relatable. The author wrote amazingly to bring Grace, her story, and her world to life. A true page turner, I read the whole book in two nights. One of the best crime stories I’ve read in a while!

Katrina and Gabe are hilarious and their chemistry is insane! This book is so great. Not only does it have romance and the supernatural, it’s laugh out loud hilarious. Katrina and Gabe are each pissed off at the other when they first cross paths but there’s also an undeniable attraction between them. They both have a past they’re trying to escape from and the devil doesn’t want either of them to be happy. Watching them both work to best the devil was great and watching them fall in love was even better. The ending was unexpected and so perfect it really made me smile. I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for more books from this author.

5 Stars States of Grace (Grace Locke Mystery Series) by Mandy Miller
States of Grace is the first book in the Grace Locke Mystery Series and holy cow what a ride! This is a Mystery/Suspense that will hook you from the beginning and keeps reeling you in as you read. This is a fairly new author to me and this is her debut mystery. The twists and turns had me turning the pages all while trying to figure out what happens next. Grace finds herself in a situation where she has to turn to the dark side in order to be able to her bills. She finds herself taking on a client who needs her to prove their innocent and to keep herself out of more trouble. It’s a ra e against time can she prove their innocence before its to late? Grace is a character I can totally see myself being friends with. Although she has secrets she’s still a strong women even if she finds herself weak at times. You guys I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. What a wonderful start to this series.

This is the first book in the Grace Locke series and this author’s first book. It was a great 5 star read. The author pulled me in with her writing and being a lawyer herself it makes it even more interesting.
Grace is currently on probation and is working on trying to get things back on track in her life. She is recovering from drug and alcohol addiction due to the loss of her leg. The cases she is currently taking are not helping her situation. There is a twist and a case that could help her career has come up and she is determined to defend the accused.
As evidence starts to pile up on her client will she be able to prove innocence or is she really guilty?
Overall this was a great mystery with several twists and turns that added a great element to the story. All of the characters were great, my favorite was Vinnie, I was LOL several times. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. The author’s detail was great, you felt like you were right there in the story. I can’t wait to read more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

This story is about three pregnant young women who find themselves in a home in New Orleans where they are eventually expected to give away their baby. This was situation many young women found themselves in back in the 1950’s or 60’s. Each of them have different reasons on why they are at the home. I really appreciated hearing how each character was feeling or thinking. The author did a great job of sharing the characters, making it easy to emotionally connect with them. I also appreciated that we find out how their children’s lives have turned out. I can’t even imagine how difficult it was for the young mothers to give away their child. It truly shows how strong the young women had to be and also as they grew into strong mature women.

This story hit home during this time of year. Overcoming the bottom of the bottom and taking the chance of failing in life for love. Sam is a beautiful character and he is dark and fabulous. How one phone call can change your life, for the better! This is a quick and enjoyable read and I am here for this entire series. This author has an amazing way of quickly building an addictive world. This book is number five of the series but honestly this book felt like a Stan alone to me. I am glad I chose now to read this book as it matches the setting. I look forward to reading the other books to this series. Dark is an excellent way to describe this character and world that has been created.

Loved Loved Loved this book and definitely could not put this down until the very end. The very beginning had me pulled into the story and this book gave me roller coaster of emotions of the highs and lows. Jared, a rock star, wants nothing more to make sure his father is taken care of. Madison is a caring and compassionate caregiver to Jared’s father. At first, when Jared and Madison meet, there is some friction. When you read more into the story there is so much more!! I could just go on and on about this book but do not want to give away any spoilers. I can say this book is definitely worth the read. Fantastic Contemporary Romance with sweet and emotional moments.

WOW! Welcome to high school where nothing is as it seems and reputations mean everything. Blindsided has all the drama you’d expect from high school and friendships forged in unforgettable circumstances in one story. Brock is easy to hate, yet you’re compelled to not give up on him. Kirsa is easy to love; she just wants a chance to live the life she once had without the hate that follows her. You’ll feel so many emotions and possibly even want to knock some sense into a few characters along the way!

If you are into Mafia thrillers this book is for you! When I picked up this book I was unaware that it was part of a series but the author gave enough background that this book can be read as a stand-alone book. The five head bosses of Chicago’s mafia have to band together to flush out the rat. Emiliana is the mafia princess who has had to overcome some major PTSD after an incident almost four years ago. Stefano is the son of one of the five heads of the family for the Chicago Italian Mafia who has fallen head over heels in love with the one female he really should stay away from. Emiliana and Stefano can only share a few moments alone with no one finding out. I am a new fan of these thrilling, on the edge of your seat mafia books!

There is something to be said about legal mysteries that can pull you in and take you back to a memory or a moment that you dealt with something the main character is going through. Grace is a down on her luck attorney just trying to survive after experiencing major pitfalls in her life. From enlisting in the military after September 11 to the throes of addiction and battling a crushing disability that can knock out even the strongest fighters. Grace has switched sides in the courtroom from being a prosecutor to now being defense counsel and defending those she once had the pleasure of putting away, all for the sake of keeping her law license. However, one day she sees the news about a young rich girl arrested for murder but there is one silver lining Grace knows that last name. Finally seeing a light out of her dark days Grace just needs to find a way to represent the accused and she knows just how to do it. The only problem is the accused is the daughter of the woman who stole her husband.
The evidence against her client is stacking up and for Grace often accused is synonymous with guilty especially with the insurmountable evidence the police have. However, as Grace continues to investigate she comes into irrefutable evidence of her client’s innocence and the victim isn’t as innocent as he seems. This leads Grace down a dark road from her past as she looks into the pill mill enterprise in Florida. Can she escape her past life while getting her client acquitted for murder? This book pulls you in hard from the first page and doesn’t let go!

Definitely entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Swipe Right to Bite is a paranormal romantic comedy. A story of a succubus vs an incubus, satan two sex demons. What could be more entertaining than that?! Katrina, who has been in New Orleans for just under a century, has her own Tinder type app for supernatural beings to have some fun. Choosing to abstain so Satan will set her free, she uses the apps sexcapades to keep her succubus in check. Until that is Gabriel enters her turf preaching love is more powerful than sex. The dynamic between Gabriel and Katrina is entertaining as best, both hoping to dupe the other into falling in love. Does it work? Does it backfire on them? There’s also the problem of Satan who will never let Katrina go, despite making a deal with Gabriel for her freedom. Satan doesn’t actually think he will succeed. Is he right? Does Gabriel fail at the task of making Katrina fall in love? You want to laugh out loud while reading? Pick up this book! You’ll also get all the answers to the questions above along the way!

Katrina is a recovering succubus who is trying to earn her freedom from the Devil but being his favorite, this will be no easy task! Katrina has come up with a dating app for supernaturals to hook up. All is running great until Gabe, a celibate succubus rolls into town to give love lessons.
This was a very quick read for me and it was almost over too soon. The writing was fantastic and all of the characters were easily relatable. As always, I am looking forward to the next installment in the New Orleans Nocturnes series.

I will admit, when I started this book, I wasn’t sure what to think. I didn’t really love it in the beginning. I couldn’t connect with Grace. But happily, that didn’t last long. Once more of the secondary characters were introduced, starting with her landlord, things seemed to really come together. Her interaction with people and coming to terms with her past and who she is now really shine through and make her a great character. She cares and wants to do right. The secondary characters also shine and make this book even better.
While I really like the characters, that’s not all this book is about. The story starts around her taking a case where it looks pretty evident that her client is guilty. But as any great thriller/suspense book shows us, there is so much more going on. Grace heads down the never-ending rabbit hole, digging up more and more. You think you know what’s going on, but then the author throws another curve at us.
This was a book I was engrossed in pretty quickly, and could not put down until I finished. The author weaves such a fantastic tale of whodunit and why that we are kept guessing the whole way. That’s what really makes this book superb. A must read in my mind.

Mandy Miller’s debut book is amazing. I was grabbed from the first word until the last word of the book. Her attention to detail makes this mystery one of the best books I have read recently. This book has drama, mystery, thrillers, crime, and investigation. I could not put this book down because I needed to know what was coming on the next page. This story is about Grace. Grace is trying to find her way. Grace is a disabled Army veteran who is a prosecutor who has fallen from grace. She has had a lot of bad decisions that make her look at her life choices. Grace takes on a case that really takes her on a journey. I highly recommend this mystery to find out what happens to Grace and her case.
