Wild Desire (The Protectors, #1)Wild Desire by Toya Richardson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wild Desire is book one of The Protector Series by Toya Richardson. You start with Mila Stubbs who came back to her hometown as a forest ranger, then you also meet Elias Crane who has been waiting for his true mate to appear. With Drake Scott trying to torture Mila from her past and get in the way of her and Elias, there is so much going on in this book, I fell in love! You’ve got lots of love, hate, and friendships in between! Great job Toya on an amazing series. I can’t wait to start the rest of the series. So many options it’s great!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rain is like a phoenix rising from the ashes. I really enjoyed this story. I was pulled in from the very beginning and didn’t surface until I had finished the entire book-the same day. Rain is so broken when she comes across Hunter, and he is broken as well in more than just the physical sense. Watching the way that they start to heal each others’ wounds while living in such a war ridden world, with danger around every corner was beautiful. I couldn’t help but hope for happiness for both of them. There were so many terrifying moments in this book, along with moments of hope, happiness and wonder. I am so excited to read the next book in this series, because there were a few characters introduced in this story that I really want to learn more about!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wild Desire is a paranormal shifter novel where the shifters were different than what you would normally expect. I still enjoyed the shifter aspect, and how she brought it out in the story. Mila has returned home years after her parents’ death. Immediately you know she is in danger. Atmosphere was well done as well as character development. I loved the twists in this story. The suspense kept me going – couldn’t put this book down. I look forward to the next books in the series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this third installment in the Titanian Chronicles from Victoria Saccenti. I have been following and reading from the beginning, which I recommend you also do to get the full enjoyment and understanding out of the novels, and these are some wildly vivid and detailed books that bring to life a world that always makes me feel as if I am whisked away and to magic and lore and mystery that I never want to leave. I really enjoy the way Ms. Saccenti builds her characters up and makes them so believable and relatable. I always find myself wanting to connect with them personally whether it be to to hug them or strangle them lol. I look forward to seeing what will come next!

Alena is one of my new favorite “people”, whoever feels understood in high school? Certainly not me and certainly not Alena. I love love LOVED the way Tricia explains the world and am a big fan of how she world builds. I am an avid reader and DnD player, which makes me a sucker for beautifully described people and places, and this book really kept my mind going even when struggling through a long work week. Born to Fight (Can't Resist You, #1)Born to Fight by Brittany Anne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read by Brittany Anne. And I have to say that I am in love with her writing style. This is a romance book with so much action intertwined into the storyline. I was amazed at how the author mixes action and suspense with the right amount of romance as well. This book captivated so many emotions on a reader level for me. And I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Rain, the main character is a strong independent woman. She has survived on her own in a bunker for two years. Then everything changes when she runs into Hunter, a wounded soldier. Everything that she thinks she knows about her existence changes. What dangers and secrets will this reveal?

Wrong for Him (The Love Lottery Series Book 3) by Christi Barth – Review by Karyn Taylor

Wrong for Him (Love Lottery, #3)Wrong for Him by Christi Barth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wrong For Him is a great contemporary romance by Christi Barth. This was my first time reading this author’s work and I’m very glad that I chose to read this book as I really enjoyed it.
Wrong For Him is a ‘Best Friend’s Little Sister’ book. As much as I enjoy reading these, I do wonder is it really such a bad thing to be seeing your best friend’s little sister? Why is it such a taboo? As is quoted in this book – if a person is your best friend, you obviously think very highly of them and trust them, so why would you not want that to be the type of person for your little sister to get involved with. Just a thought!
I really loved Teague and Amelia’s story. Both are such amazing characters and I loved reading their banter. Their friendship is as solid as a rock and I could have read about them for hours and hours.
I loved the overall dynamic of the book. It’s not just Teague and Amelia’s story. Alex and Everleigh are huge characters and play large and vital role in this great story. In addition to these is a great list of secondary characters who also add a great deal to the story.
I really loved reading this book and would definitely recommend it.

Kingdom of Embers (Kingdom Journals #1)Kingdom of Embers by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kingdom of Embers introduces a series with a fresh take on the supernatural. Alena is a hybrid, something she has to keep secret not only from the humans she goes to school with but from others in the supernatural community. Things in her already complicated life take a turn for the strange-er when she sees a grown-up version of a guy she thought was simply a childhood imaginary friend. As the two try to figure out why they can both recall each other from childhood, the mystery of their companionship gives way to a much larger problem. Filled with plenty of world-building and fascinating characterizations, Kingdom of Embers sets up what promises to be an intriguing series.

This story is about Amelia Kirkland and  Teague Sullivan. Teague is best friends with Amelia’s brother Alex. Amelia has always had feelings for Teague, that is until they move in together. Teague, Alex, Ever, and Amelia won a hotel and decided they would all move into and run the hotel together. Teague and Amelia share the same apartment. Now Amelia has to figure out if she will embrace her feelings for Teague or if she will let them go forever. This is the third book of the Love Lottery series. I did not read the first two books, I feel that it is not necessary. It’s a good story. I liked it.

Wrong for Him (The Love Lottery Series Book 3) by Christi Barth – Review by Angela Shirley

Wrong for Him (Love Lottery, #3)Wrong for Him by Christi Barth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Amelia has been attracted to her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember, he was her first love and no one has really matched him, but when she starts a job and they are working together can she keep it professional or will the sparks fly.

Teague is back to his home town after leaving the specials forces but she was always the light at the end of the tunnel. Amelia is his best friends sister and has always been off limits but his attraction has always been strong, but when they start working together sparks fly between and before time they are declaring their love for each other.

This story is the first I have read by this author and I loved the writing, I thought the characters were well developed and the chemistry between the two main characters jumped off the page. Although that said I did feel that the relationship was sped up and before you know it Teague and Amelia were friends on one page and the next they were desperately in love and I got a bit confused if I had skipped some pages or even a chapter but this did not distract from the story.

The secondary characters also added to the story and I really enjoyed the romantic aspect and can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Weep, Woman, Weep: A Gothic Fairytale About Ancestral Hauntings by Maria DeBlassie review by- Stephanie Driskill

Weep, Woman, WeepWeep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Weep, Woman. Weep was such a great story. I appreciated the cultural history of La Llorona and how stories and legends from our culture can shape our lives and even our deaths. The main character Mercy is such a true heroine in this story. She is strong, independent, and takes perfectly good care of herself and her best friend Sherry (even in the death of her friend, she truly respects the friendship and love she has for her friend). I am enamored with the fact that Mercy is strong and independent and does not feel the need to rely on a man to be fully defined. I think this is such a great book for young women to read to understand that we are not defined by another person no matter if it is a friend or a lover, but rather by who and what we choose to do and be in life. Even being dealt a really crappy hand in life, Mercy did not give up and take the easy road of life. Kudos to DeBlassie for creating a fairytale worth reading and for developing such a strong character for us women! Definitely a must read for the ages! The ending….is there more to come?

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Luck is the fifth book in the Broderick Coven series. I haven’t read the previous books, but I could pick up on the story between these two characters pretty quickly. Knowing the other characters from previous books probably would give it more depth, though.

I related to the Edward character a lot. Not having a filter when speaking can make it difficult to form strong bonds with people. I liked Edward’s magical ability It’s not one you see very often in these types of stories.

If you like fated mate stories, this series is for you. The attraction is pretty much there from the start and then there is the push-pull of drama around the connection.

This is a beautiful romance story with an apocalypse twist. This is book 1 in the Can’t Resist You Series and I loved it.The author does an amazing job of bringing the story to life, making every scene realistic and believable.

Until one mission leaves him almost dead and the arrival of an angel in his life turns his world upside down.

Wild Desire (The Protectors Series Book 1) by Toya Richardson – Review by Anna Hirsch

Wild Desire (The Protectors, #1)Wild Desire by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wild Desire (The Protectors Series Book 1) by Toya Richardson
4 Stars

I wasn’t sure how to rate this book. It doesn’t deserve a three but it’s not quite a four either. I’ll give it a 3.5. After reading the back of the book, I was excited to read it. After finishing it, I feel a little let down.

Things I liked:
The idea behind the storyline was excellent. With all the craziness in the world today, having Scott Tech as the bad guys made the story believable. I can actually see something like this happening in our world. I wouldn’t even be surprised.

I loved the fact that the main characters were deer shifters. The main focus in shifter books is usually on the wolf. It was refreshing to read a story about other shifters.

I liked the idea of a legion of protectors watching over unsuspecting humans. This idea can lead to so many more books.

Things I didn’t like:
Mila was up in arms at first about the whole mate and supernatural thing. Within a few hours, Mila (who’s a virgin) was jumping into bed with Elias and totally accepting everything. It was unrealistic to have that dramatic a change within that time frame.

Drake, who is supposed to be her nemesis, turned out to be a spoiled brat who would throw tantrums like a two year old. It was disappointing. Maybe he’ll be a better bad guy in part two.

Lastly, I feel like the characters lacked depth. Because of this, the story didn’t suck me in and hold my undivided attention. I read the book and enjoyed it but not as much as I should have.

Cursed Luck is another great addition to the Broderick Coven Series! It just focus more on the romance side of paranormal romance with significantly less action than in previous books. The love story however, is much more realistic!! Mia is one badass witch with the strength to stand up for herself and for those she loves! With powers to boot!! I am SO excited to find out what happens next in the first of the Alumbra Pack series!!

The Girl and the Demon (The Girl and the Raven Book 3) by Pauline Gruber – Review by Desiree Ottinger

The Girl and The Demon (The Girl and The Raven, #3)The Girl and The Demon by Pauline Gruber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third installment of The Girl and the Raven series. It continues the story of Lucy and her coming to terms with being half demon and half witch. With her dad out of reach and her boyfriend out of town, she has her two best friends to rely on helping her stay safe. My favorite part of this book was seeing Lucy come into her own and have more confidence in herself and her abilities. Her friends have become her family and she realizes that she will risk it all to save them; even the girl in her friend group that doesn’t like her.

I feel like the author did a wonderful job describing the intricacies of teenage friendships and emotional angst that they experience in this day in age. I also appreciate that this series continues to be clean in language, and not overly sexualized. Hopefully, Lucy’s adventures continue!

Tenacious is the sixth book in the Billionaire Bodyguards Series by Via Mari. I highly recommend reading the first five books if you haven’t already started this series. Although each book can be read as standalones. Each book is about a different couple but many of the characters carry over from each book. With every book I say its my favorite yet but this one takes the cake. This author hands down is one of my favorites. Her style of writing and attention to detail keep you glued till you finish. I dove in and knew I was coming up until I finished. This is a romance suspense with plenty of action, mystery, suspense and the twists and turns had me gripping the edge of my seat. I found myself holding my breath near the end of the book. This is Nick and Allie’s story. She’s a ER nurse who has trust issues when it comes to relationships He’s a Hot as Sin bodyguard that will make you drool. He’s determined to get the girl even though he doesn’t do relationships either until he sets his on Allie. Im not giving anything away. Find out what happens next in this absolute must read. This is a phenomenal book! It is definitely for 18+ group. From the start Hunter and Rain go through some intense struggles and trials. Can they make it through? Forever: A Diamond Doms Novel by Ivy Nelson – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forever (Diamond Doms #9)Forever by Ivy Nelson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forever is the 9th and final instalment in the Diamond Doms series by Ivy Nelson. I have done this completely backwards and started reading this series by reading the final book. I enjoyed it so much and I’m intrigued by so many of the other couples in it that I have the first 8 books on my kindle now and hope to find time to read them soon.
This book is filled with so much drama, intrigue and danger. I was glued to it from the very beginning and just didn’t want to put it down.
As well as the drama and intrigue, this is a BDSM book. It’s unlike any BDSM book that I have ever read. I had never previously read a book that contained sadism/masochism. I really had my eyes opened with some of the workings of this kind of relationship. I have to admit that one of the acts that Gemma, the masochist, liked to have carried out on her, really disturbed me. I had no idea that this was something any woman would ever want carried out on her. This did not affect my enjoyment of the book. It just surprised me a great deal.
I do have to say that I absolutely loved reading Russell and Gemma’s story. Both are amazing characters that I could have read so much more about.
I definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading the first 8 books in the series.

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You Book 1) by Brittany Anne – Review by Lianne Probert

Born to Fight (Can't Resist You, #1)Born to Fight by Brittany Anne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Born To Fight is the first book in the Can’t Resist You series by Brittany Anne.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world, nothing is as we know it now, and the presence of good and evil is very real.
Rain has lived alone for two years. When she comes across an injured man she knows she cannot leave him to die, but worries about her vulnerable position. Taking Hunter in turns out to be a life-changing decision, as she nurses him back to health they get to know each other, although both know that the other person has more secrets to tell.

I really enjoyed this story, Rain and Hunter are a sweet couple with lots of chemistry. There are also lots of other strong supporting characters which help to bring the story to life. I enjoyed that the story was told from different points of view so that, as the reader, I got the full story and range of emotions. I’m looking forward to seeing how the series develops.

Stand Your Ground by A. J. Ullman – Review by Angela Packard

Stand Your GroundStand Your Ground by A.J. Ullman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a thought-provoking book. This is the first book I have read by A. J. Ullman, but it makes me want to search out more. Cady is a white woman lawyer who is getting ready to make partner at her law firm when riding her bike through her sketchy neighborhood, she is accosted, shoots, and kills a black man. Cady has only been carrying a gun for the last couple years due to moving to this neighborhood. And that is how the book starts!!
She states self-defense, but not everyone is buying it. BLM is not making it an open and shut case. We learn more about Cady’s backstory and see her changing as the story progresses. Being a lawyer, she is seeing the other side of the judicial system. Does she stand and fight? Does she go to jail? How does this unfortunate situation change her? I really enjoyed that the story makes use of current headlines and social issues. Thank you, A. J. Ullman, for an amazing read!

Wild Desire (The Protectors Series Book 1) by Toya Richardson- Review by Lauren West

Wild Desire (The Protectors, #1)Wild Desire by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adore a good paranormal romance! Toya Richardson has crafted a great story with many twists involved. Its my first read by her, and will not be the last
As we are introduced to Elias and Mila you can’t help but fall in love. They are both fierce, loyal, and strong characters. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the sexual chemistry can be felt coming off the pages.
When Mila decides to return home after many years due to feeling the pull she discovers a lot about her hometown. Nothing is as she once believed. There is a whole other world of shifters and protectors, and she is one of them who is powerful in her own right. When she meets Elias she learns he is a deer shifter as well as her mate. She must adjust to this new information and fight against Drake who was her childhood bully, and wants her still for his own selfish needs.
This book was full of action, steam, and suspense. It was an all around fun read and I cannot wait for more in the series.
