Silent Gavel (Crawford Mystery #1)Silent Gavel by Merissa Racine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this book had me hooked from beginning to end. This was a great mystery with suspense and I really thought I had it figured out on “who done it”…or so I thought….. Lauren is a court stenographer and when she goes to pick up the judge she was working for one morning, something was not right.
When Lauren went into Judge Murphy’s house to check in to see if she was ready, Lauren finds the judge murdered in her own home. Sam Overstreet is the detective on the case and has his eyes on Lauren as his #1 suspect. Who murdered Judge Murphy? This book is a who done it murder mystery and just so good. This book really drew me in and I cannot wait until I continue with book #2.

Well Done Author Merissa Racine 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wild Desire (The Protectors Series Book 1) by Toya Richardson – Review by Stephanie Nicole

Wild Desire (The Protectors, #1)Wild Desire by Toya Richardson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wild Desire (The Protectors Series Book 1) by Toya Richardson is one of the best shifter/romance books that I have read in a long time. This great novel has a Alpha male that knows it’s his job to protect his mate and his pack and he knows just how to do it. Meanwhile his mate is not just a meek girl like so many authors portray them but she is fiery and feisty. But between the writers intense writing, incredible details, and just the overall story Ms. Richardson will have you hooked by the end of chapter one. Fast paced full of suspense, drama, and more, trust me when I say that you won’t want to put Wild Desire down once you start it.

Must I say this book was a refresher and had some steamy romance scenes embedded in them? Pandora and Jonas obviously have tension between them but will the bar hold Jonas back and will Stardom hold Pandora back? Can people really be kind hearted or is it all a show to play Pandora? This book went beyond my expectations and the realism of the book and hardships of life helped me take a break from mine. I certainly will be reading more from this author!

Silent Gavel by Merissa Racine was an absolutely amazing novel that had my hooked from chapter one with the intense writing and suspense. I don’t get hooked very often to the point of finishing a book in one sitting but this novel has be on the edge of my seat unable to put it down. But Silent Gavel has everything you could possibly need in a suspense book from murder, suspense, drama and oh so much more. Ms. Racine’s s characters were incredible and her writing so detailed that it’s almost like your in the middle of the novel with her characters. So if your looking for a great suspense novel this weekend then I highly recommend Silent Gavel.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Pandora runs from her crazy modeling career to this small town called Bunya Junction where she meets Jonas. Unexpectedly they hit it off even though neither wants to move it too far because plans on going back to her city life. Jonas knows you can take the city out of the girl but Pandora is amazed at how a small town can come together and really take care of one another. Through the whole book I so wanted to jump into this town and live on a ranch.

Silent Gavel (A Crawford Mystery Book 1) by Merissa Racine was a pager turning crime mystery. Merissa writes a riveting murder mystery that makes you question who did it after Lauren finds her dead boss. Through the whole book I found myself trying to guess who murdered Judge Murphy and with each chapter I found myself changing my mind as to who the killer was, falling in love with characters I previously hated, and ultimately was shocked at the end. This was a great read and would read again.

Wow!! This story was an incredibly power-packed thriller. It was just what I needed. Every once in awhile I need a good thriller and this one brought it all. You get sucked in at the beginning with an action chase and you don’t want to leave even when you hit the big power cliff-hanger ending. Tremendous characters written with adventurous personalities that fit the story. Amazing!! My 2021 thriller pick for the year. You have to read this. I just can’t tell you enough about the good things. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.!!!!

Runaway to the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, Book 2) by Nicole Flockton is even better then Ms. Flockton’s first book in this series. Once again Ms. Flockton gives us great characters, wonderful details, and beautiful scenery. This story is filled with drama, lots of emotion, and another unexpected love story. Pandora comes to Bunya Junction desperately needs a break from her career and Jonas certainly isn’t expecting someone like her to come walking through the door of his pub. What happens when date intervenes and opposites attract? You’ll have to read Runaway to the Outback to find out for yourself.

Silent Gavel (Crawford Mystery #1)Silent Gavel by Merissa Racine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Silent Gavel, book 1 in the Crawford Mystery series by Merissa Racine is a five-star read! I LOVED this book! I love reading thriller books with a crime theme and this one did not disappoint!
I loved the character development and that the story was well written and did not drag but include just what was needed and had a few twists I definitely did not see coming!
The book starts out with Lauren, a court reporter, being late to pick up her boss, the judge, to carpool to a hearing. When Lauren arrives and does not receive a response from the judge after knocking on her door, she steps inside only to find the judge dead! Her whole world is about to get messy, and she is now on the mission to not only clear her name but to find out who killed her boss.
I really enjoyed this book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good whodunit story! I cannot wait to sink myself into book 2 next!

Sasha and Arnaud have the adventure of a lifetime. I am a fan of this series because it kind of reminds me of a rom-com version of the Davinci Code. The secrets, intrigue and mystery entwined with fun and steamy romance make this an enjoyable and quick read. Sasha’s sassy stubbornness makes her quite the character. Arnaud’s tenacity to stay with her makes him the perfect man. A perfect second book to this series that was just as good as the first. I eagerly await the next one. Highly recommend.

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven Book 5) by AJ Renee – Review by Shannon Fowler

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Luck is book 5 in the Broderick Coven series. This series must be read in order as it follows the lives of the Broderick siblings. Cursed Luck stars Edward Broderick, the lone wolf of the siblings. Edward believes he is destined to be alone. His powers of “luck” are soley reserved for the people he can help and not himself. Mia is a character from previous stories and while she too is a witch, she connects her powers through the earth and nature.

While there is no real “bad” guy in this story Edward and Mia must battle their own personal demons to find their happily ever after.

Many sexy scenes, so not recommended for those under 18 yrs. I always enjoy reading the stories by AJ Renee and look forward to the rest of the siblings stories!

Stranded: Cetacea Chronicles Volume 1 by Feather Chelle was wonderful. I read this to my kids (ages 3 and 6), and they loved it. It was educational and fun for them, and it led to more conversations about the ocean and animals that live there. As a parent reading to my kids, I enjoyed that the vocabulary words were in bold print, so that the kids and I could look them up together to learn more. I felt like this would be a quick read for adults, but since I read it out loud with/to my kids we took our time and looked up other facts as we went along. I enjoyed reading it, and I believe Stranded: Cetacea Chronicles would be a great book for adults and children. There was so much to learn here. My kids asked for me to read it to them again right after we finished. I hope to see many more books written by this author, my kids would love it!

Silent Gavel: For fans of mystery and suspense (A Crawford Mystery Book 1) by Merissa Racine – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Silent Gavel (Crawford Mystery #1)Silent Gavel by Merissa Racine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lauren Besoner is a court stenographer in the small town of Crawford, Wyoming, she owns her own home and has a dog she loves to bits, as well as some actual stability in her life, no thanks to her past dating and relationship endeavours both at home and in Denver the short time she lived there. She is happy with her life and job, that is until one day when she is heading to pick up the judge that she works for so that they can travel together to the courthouse a couple of towns over, instead, when the judge isn’t answering her calls or texts, Lauren goes up to the house to check to see if she is ready. When she approaches the house and sees the front door open, she calls out for the judge multiple times, getting louder as time goes on, eventually she goes inside when she notices that the judge’s dog is shivering and cold, however, when her foot touches some broken glass on the floor, Lauren is shocked to find the judge is lying on top of it.

Lauren panics and fumbles for the light switch and this is when she sees the broken glass panel in the front door and the judge lying in a pool of blood, stumbling back out of the door and taking the dog with her, she gets into her car and calls 911 to report what she has found. As the call progresses and Lauren has to go back inside the house to check for signs of life that it fully hits her what has happened and this is compounded when the police arrive and ask her to go to the station to make a statement while her clothes are taken away as evidence and the scene is sealed. As time passes and the events settle in, Lauren is brought in for questioning on multiple occasions, however, each time she goes, she feels like she is being treated like the number one suspect despite giving all the facts to the contrary, it doesn’t help that she finds out that her ex-husband was cheating on her with the judge while they were still marries, which is the opposite of what he told her originally.

As the investigation continues and nothing changes or moves forwards, Lauren’s unease with being the prime suspect increases and she gets the feeling that nothing is as it seems and that there is too much that doesn’t add up the more she thinks about it, so she starts to do a little digging of her own. Will Lauren be able to prove her innocence and work out who the real killer is, or will she go down for a crime she didn’t commit? This is a thrilling mystery filled with intrigue, secrets and more questions than answers until the end is reached and the killers identity is revealed.

I really liked this book, and finished it in one sitting. We get to follow Alena as she learns more about the dual sides to her identity, and what she is capable of from both the vampiric and witchy sides of her DNA. She is a very relatable character, and I was instantly hooked. Her curiousity sometimes gets the better of her, resulting in some interesting plot points. She is also dating for the first time in her life, and has several suitors who are interested in her. I kept hoping for more fighting or uses of her powers, but it seems like book 2 will be well situated for those. I definitely will be reading the next book in the series to see what happens next!

The Bastard Prince (It's Raining Royals, #2)The Bastard Prince by Alix Nichols
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series is like a quick read, rom com, version of the DaVinci Code or Angels and Demon’s. I love the treasure hunt and “hide and seek” aspect.

I admit to not liking Arnaud at the beginning. I’m not a fan of having one of the MC’s having intimate relations with another person than the other MC without reason and I didn’t feel that that aspect of the storyline was necessary for his background. However he grew on me, with his propensity to not use plastic surgery to completely alter someone but bring out a bit more of their beauty, and his compassion for (most) others.

Alexandra, aka Sasha, was a likable character, who comes with health issues and mental baggage from said issues. I enjoyed her still wanting to be a strong and independent woman despite her health issues bordering a disability for her. One note is that I didn’t completely believe her health issues. As I know someone who had a kidney transplant and the difficulties that comes with the healing I feel that the author took liberties. It pulled me out of the storyline here and there, but it’s not likely to be noticed by many others and didn’t distract from the overall story.

I enjoyed reading the push and pull between Arnaud and Sasha and each of them determining what to do about their attraction.

I also liked getting more glimpses into the Mount Evor prophecy and finding another key. The glimpses into the ruling family and the country is fascinating.

The author sure has an amazing grip on keeping your mind on twists and turns. I was trying to figure out who the murderer was and was stumped. This poor family went through hell and back over and over. I could not put this book down. If you are like me and don’t usually read this genre of book. This is a great place to start. I was thinking about this book even when I wasn’t reading it. I will be reading this author again and again.

AJ Renee has done it again with her 5th book in the Broderick Coven series, Cursed Luck! I love a good witchy paranormal read and never ever have to worry when it comes to picking up one of these novels. This was no exception to the rule and I fell in love fast with Edward and Mia. I really enjoyed these two and the way their romance developed throughout the adventure of the story. Renee does a wonderful job of building her stories with layers and amazing details that bring to life this world that I just want to jump right into every time. I would personally recommend that you start at the beginning of the series and enjoy each of the books in order for the fullest enjoyment possible, but you could if you wanted read these as standalones. I sure hope that there are many more to come in this series and I can’t wait to see what we will get with each one!

If you haven’t read any of Glede Browne Kabongo’s thrillers before, DON’T wait to get your hands on this read! I personally love a book that will grab my attention and throw my mind for a proverbial loup and this woman does it to me every single time. She has quickly become one of my favorites when it comes to thriller crime novels and I just can’t get enough. As soon as I saw that there was a new one available from her I knew I had to clear an afternoon and snag it because you won’t be able to put these down just like the title suggests. The twists and turns are so frequent that just when you think you get to a stopping point to say cook supper or adult at all you are at another and you suddenly are sucked right back into the chaos and can’t tear yourself away. Needless to say it was a pizza and movie night for the kiddos around my house for this one. NOT SORRY. This book had me in my feels too. I was empathizing with Shelby and her family but I also was wondering if she maybe had it all coming to her too? That is the beauty of the writing of Ms. Kabongo. I can’t wait to see what will come next from her and may just have to re-read this one to hold me over in the meantime!

Wild Desire by Toya Richardson is the first book in The Protectors series. This is a good story with some likeable characters. There is a great mix of paranormal and romance, neither one seemingly to overshadow the other.
There were a few times in the story that I wish there has been a little more detail or it hadn’t felt quite a rushed but I think overall the author has created an enjoyable story. This book has set the background for the next books to follow. I thought this was was a thoroughly enjoyable book and I am looking forward to next one.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a great first book in the Coin of Time Series. I love how action packed it is and how the author really brings history to life. Hearing about things that happened long ago gives this book a unique twist, as well as being full of action ots educational as well.

Nik thinks he is an ordinary school teacher but how wrong he was. After his grandfather explains that they are guardian’s of a special coin that they must protect at all costs. Weaving the story through Ancient Greece and Mythology you really get drawn into the magic of the coin.

But then things change. When Nik’s grandfather goes missing and Interpol turn up asking questions Nik starts to wander if the job of protecting this precious coin is as dangerous as his grandfather made out.

This book is left on a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to continue this story.

I loved this second book in the Welcome to Bunya Junction series – I love the setting for this series and the authors attention to detail makes me feel like I am right there with the characters. Jonas and Pandora were great characters to read about and I liked that their story wasn’t straight forward – there was this genuine connection between them and I was rooting for them from the moment they met – there just seemed to be this spark between them. I really enjoyed some of the secondary characters in the story too and I am excited for more to come from this series!

AJ Renee has done it again! I read this book in one day. I did not want to put it down. I LOVE the Broderick Coven stories, and Cursed Luck, Book 5, was no exception! Edward Broderick thought he was not meant for love, until the day he met Mia. Mia is spirited and challenging but Edward can not get her out of his mind. As much as Mia doesn’t want to think about him either, not even her Earth magic is enough to keep him from flashing through her mind. Follow them as they navigate this attraction, and decide if they should fight it, or pursue it. AJ Renee gave us two more characters that you love and cheer for. The complex family dynamics, soul searching, lure of magic, and of course the steamy romance, provide the perfect story to tug at your emotions! Definitely another must read!
