I was pulled in this story as soon as I started reading it. This was an interesting and intriguing read. There were times in this story that I felt a little confused but overall it was well written. We get introduced to a few different characters in this book and each of them are living with their own struggles, some just struggling to feed themselves. The author was very descriptive in her words so that I was able to picture life in this dystopian world. I am hoping for another book in which some questions might be answered and we get to go into more depth with some of the characters. I gave this book 4 stars.

I absolutely love this series. Once again it’s completely original. A total mixed species. A vampire falls in love with a lycan. Ends up getting pregnant by said lycan. While pregnant find out she has magical powers like a witch.

Return To Alpha was an interesting read. This one threw me off a bit, it was entertaining, but I think the whole concept just went over my head. This is very much a sci-fi book. The concepts and stories featured in this book were very interesting and entertaining, I just couldn’t personally keep up with all the names and characters and events and terms. It was a little much for me to keep straight in my head. This story was very original and unique to me in those regards, I just had so much trouble concentrating on everything that was mentioned. I hate that I didn’t love this book as much as I wanted to but I know there are some sci-fi people out there that will absolutely devour this novel! This novel was very well written, it just wasn’t the one for me but I still definitely recommend it!

“Return to Alpha” is a dystopian novel set in the future, based off the events that are occurring today – with the pandemic being at the forefront of the “festivities”. I have read many books with a similar mindset, and while I do want to applaud the author for painting a scarily realistic picture of what could become – possibly minus the space travel, but who really knows! – it was a difficult book to immerse myself in. The writing was factual and concise, and extremely descriptive – sometimes to the point that it look away from the book itself and I found myself wanting to skip forward to the next part. There also are a lot of characters – each with extensive backgrounds and information. Again, this is a the show of a very talented author, it was just a bit much for myself. Good work, Wesley Britton!

Whew, I was looking forward to Caine’s story, and it didn’t disappoint. Emery is the best friend we got to know in book one. She has lived a privileged life with her father maintaining everything for her. Suddenly, her father gets in trouble, and she has to figure things out quickly – in fact it’s pretty bad. I was kind of caught off guard with just how bad. You def sit up and get worried about this girl who really doesn’t know how to take care of herself. The book takes off from page one and it doesn’t let you go. I love the action. I love the romance. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like being in Emery’s head, but she is a caring person even though she grew up privileged. Hawke and Caine’s childhoods will break your heart. Really delves into the ugly.

I loved this book because it was a simple, easy, wholesome read. It was the standard story – small town feel, boy moves back to town a hero/big shot, meets girl who boy has known all his life, boy and girl kindle a romance, girl or boy pushes the other away for seemingly unknown reasons, trouble arises, boy or girl overcomes reasons in order to be with the other, they all live happily ever after… BUT I loved how Amy puts in a second villain character! The twist that is not really a twist, which becomes a twist again made the story that much more intriguing!
I do feel that the end hit a bit too abruptly and the bow was tied a little too neatly, but overall it was a fun read and I am planning on keeping it in my back pocket for when I need an easy book to make me smile.

The danger is real, Liliana gets kidnapped, and Max calls a commission, the Sicilian’s are on their way. The outcome is not guaranteed. The secrets that come out, took my breath away, took me by surprise, and had me furiously turning pages to find out what was going to happen. I have enjoyed books by Amy McKinley before and she did not disappoint. Am looking forward to Book 2 next month!!

Really loved Emma! She is strong, tenacious, and a defender of the weak. She is also a lady ahead of her time, and love the example she sets for younger women in this novel. I didn’t know there was another book before this one. I felt like I missed a lot. I would def encourage anyone to start with book one. I found the cases and the action really great – loved the plot. My only complaint was the narrator breaking into the story.

Anise Storm has done it again. Book 2 is just as steamy and suspenseful as the first, and very hard to put down. Caine and Emery were an unexpected couple, but each with their own struggles. As their story unravels we watch them grow and develop individually but also as a couple. Caine flees D.C after being accused of murdering his father. He seeks refuge in Denver with Hawke who helps provide him with a place and a job. He looks to prove his innocence, but also experience some fun on the side. We then meet Emery who is a rich and spoiled politicians daughter who goes from riches to rags after her father has a scandal that rocks her world entirely. Clearing her head and out for fun she meets Caine at Hawke’s club and begin a one night stand that turns into much more. With no place to go and no money she unexpectedly turns to Caine, who offers her a place to stay. Together they both set out to get their lives back in order with no lacking in suspense, sexual chemistry, or danger.

This book had a rollercoasters amount of twist and turns! I am not fully sure if I understood what was real and what was illusion, and I am also not sure if that was the author’s intention but it made for an interesting story! I would have liked a bit more of a conclusion on a few things though, as the story’s end does seem to come abruptly and not necessarily leaving a cliffhanger for a sequel. Despite this, the book was entrancing and it was difficult to tear away from! I almost managed to finish it in one sitting – which is difficult with multiple small children around!

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm is the second book of this series and it’s a great dark/romance read. I was first drawn to this book by its cover, it really intrigued me. While this book is dark, there is plenty of romance that at first catches her reader off guard but it made this reader love her story even more. I personally loved everything about this book her plot was fantastic, her word-building was flawless, and her characters were fabulous. While reading her story I found myself enthralled in the story and my opinions of certain characters changed along the way. So if your looking for a great new dark/romance I highly recommend.

Raven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber was a great short read and I’m looking forward to more from Ms. Koerber. Raven Woman’s Tavern keeps a very surreal feeling through the book leaving her readers feeling as if they are in a dreamlike state. Ms. Koerber gives us quick glimpses into most of the lives of her character and focuses more on the vivid details of her main characters, the plot, and the town. She weaves all of her characters stories together flawlessly like a spider weaving a delicate web. With just enough drama and suspense that the readers will continue flipping the pages as fast as they can read Ms. Koerber pulls her readers in hook, line, and sinker.

Unsettled Scores is the second book in the DAG Team series. It can be read as a standalone, but I feel like it would be better experienced if you’ve read the first book as some of the story line overlaps. Good read – full of romance and suspense that will keep you interested. There are some questions that are left open so there’s room for more story line in another book. Overall, not a bad way to spend a few hours in book land.

I have read a lot from this author and once again I was not let down. I really find the way that this author writes to be engaging and was totally hooked from the get go. The characters are very believable. I found them to be realistic and relatable.
I really like the chemistry between Max and Liliana to be so heated. I like the way that story plays out. I like the cloak and dagger by Max and how the romance unfolds. I like how they in a way both save each other. I cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

Return to Alpha by Wesley Britton starts with a description of each character you’ll need to know. Over the last 40 years of one catastrophe after another, what more can go wrong with the arrivals of interdimensional aliens? There is much drama, relationships, and longing till the end. Wesley did a good job with this spin off of his other series. This book was an interesting read, but sometimes I had to get back on track and was able to finish.

In this story, aliens have come to alpha earth on a mission, and are greeted by people who are less than enthusiastic at their arrival. The beginning of the story is a bit slow, but it picks up about half way through. The aspects involving COVID-19 are always interesting to read about in books, and where the world went after those events made for an intriguing background to the story. The characters were fun and quirky for sure, and I was thrilled to have some romance to root for, as I am a sucker for a romance. In general, if you like sci-fi adventure, a bit of post-apocalyptic and dystopian, with just a sprinkle of romance, you should absolutely give this book a shot. Once the stage is set, the adventure really is fun to experience.

This is a well written love story. Her character are written very strongly. This is a great little pick me up mood boosting book. I loved this 2nd book of the series and Author Anise Storm does not disappoint!! You do meet Caine and Emery in book one so it was great to have book two about these characters. Caine is a man that is wanted for murder. Hawke (from book 1) gives Caine a job to keep his head down at Club Syn. Emery is spoiled, entitled rich girl and Charlotte’s best friend. Emery’s world comes down when her father is involved with a scandal that leaves her penniless. On a stormy night, Caine and Emery bump into each other. Sparks fly!!! Caine fights for his freedom to clear his name while Emery tries to clear her fathers name. I LOVED this book!

Okay, so I am seriously about to try the german cheesecake from the wonderful recipes in the back! I absolutely loved this story. This is this first book I’ve read from this series and I am definitely going back to read the first book. Emma , a strong willed 18 year old, has a knack for finding and solving mysteries. This story will find you right alongside Emma putting clues together. She has such a heart for helping people that you just continuously root for her to figure It all out! Every single character adds just enough of their own unique style to just make the book work. This story will keep you guessing till every clue finally finds its place. If you love historical mysteries this is the series for you!!
I really enjoyed this book! Maddie and Adam had incredible chemistry. I want to go read the first book in the series as well as look up Zoe’s story.
Maddie has a heart of gold and a spine of steel. She is dealing with a lot and has protected herself, but does it without putting anyone else down to do it. Adam is dealing with incredible trauma and has pushed away everyone close to him. My heart hurt so much for him, and watching him heal was awesome. I loved how Sheldon helped break through Adam’s wall – that dog was as much a main character as the other 2 :D.
Maddie’s parents made me so angry, and even knowing the reasoning, I was not as forgiving as Maddie.

This is a beautiful love story. The author does an amazing job of making the characters believable and relatable. The story itself will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions from feeling high and on top of the world to then plunging down into the darkest depths.
Maddie and Adam both have secrets and past failings in their lives which make them the people they are today. But where Maddie tries to see the good in life Adam can only see the negative.
When Adam moved in next door to Maddie he wasn’t looking for romance or a connection. Struggling with his own demons he wanted to shut himself off from the world and never open his heart up to love again. When Maddie meets Adam the chemistry from her is instant however Adam’s attitude and stand off and rude behaviour makes her question her attraction. As time progresses and Maddie slowly works her way into Adam’s heart can they both overcome their pasts to build a happy future or will some demons keep them apart.

Swindler’s Revenge is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series by Ellen Butler. Yes, I am going to say this again for the umpteenth time- this series just gets better and better with each new instalment- and I’ve found another book to add to my favourites in this fantastic series- that’s all five 😊!!! Ms. Butler really knows how to spin a riveting, tightly woven story that kept me flipping the pages to discover what I would find on the next page. She deftly weaves clever mystery, suspense, and thrills into her plots- it’s something she does incredibly well. I love that her stories always keep me wondering what will happen next- and has me expecting danger and dramatic developments with every turn of the page. Her books are a definite ‘one-click’-no-questions-asked…. she never disappoints!!! As with the other books in the series, this could be read as a standalone- without feeling like you are missing anything. But having said that, I really do recommend reading the previous instalments before devouring this one, as not only are the previous books really great stories- but there are also some recurring characters who appear in each instalment, as well a few references to past events and characters- so knowing what has happened previously will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book, and the series as a whole. Karina Cardinal (K.C) seems to be a bit of a magnet for trouble, and true to form, she soon finds herself embroiled in another investigation. This time, Michael Finnegan, her ex-boyfriend, becomes a wanted fugitive after taking off with $1.2 million dollars. This also puts KC under the FBI microscope as his (former) girlfriend. Could Michael really have pulled a swiftie? Karina doesn’t think so- but proving it may not be quite that simple, especially since there is no trace of Michael. But, with a little help from some very capable friends- they begin to unravel the events that led up to Michael’s disappearance with the loot….. as the investigation unfolds we are treated to plenty of tense situations, clever mystery, intrigue, suspense, agendas, danger, drama, chemistry, emotion, set ups, colourful characters, comradery, humour, banter, and much more! OH, and did I mention I FLOVE the direction KC’s love life has taken- that’s all I can say without giving away spoilers! But- SQUEEEEEE!!!!! Colour me happy. I have been wanting this for quite a while now- and it finally happened!!! WOOT!!! Now I can’t wait for more Karina Cardinal mysteries!!! What a delightful mystery! The characters are fantastic and each is original. I love how easy the story is to follow The narrator part is just to easy to follow. There is just the right amount of action to help keep the boys or girls enthralled. An abuse shelter for women also keeps the story realistic and down to earth. Truly a wonderful good. Slow Burn is the 2nd book in the Breathing Hearts series by A. K. MacBride. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. I had not read the first book in the series, in fact this is the first time I have read any of this author’s work, and I did not feel that I was missing any necessary information. Slow Burn is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance that will take you on an emotional roller coaster. You may need tissues to read this book. I’ll admit to being rather teary at a few points in this book. In my mind if an author can cause this reaction then they are definitely doing something right. I loved reading Adam and Maddie’s story. Both are not in a good place in their lives and are struggling, but for very different reasons. Let’s just say that their very first meeting is a memorable one and doesn’t show Adam in his best light. He does redeem himself and soon steals a place in your heart. This is a really great book which had me totally engrossed from beginning to end and I would 100% recommend it.

If you love a good solid romance, then this is the book for you. The story takes place on a college campus and will immediately get in all your feelers! The book easily draws you in and keeps you engaged for the duration. I loved the overachieving main characters and felt emotionally invested in their relationship. I felt the settings and dynamic of all the characters were realistic and appealing. I highly recommend but don’t make plans…you won’t be able to put it down!

If you need a good laugh, chuckle, or heart pull I highly recommend this! I didn’t see the ending I thought would happen because of the 2 totally different people. She’s a city girl from a big city and he’s a country boy from a small town. He’s a mechanic and she’s working her way up the corporate ladder. It was supposed to be just a one night stand. I enjoyed this paranormal story. This is not my first book by these authors but it is one of my favorites yet. This is a well written story about protection and the cost you are willing to pay for that. The author’s use of details made the story come to life on each page. Their creative, unique characters add to the story as being relatable and strong. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning. This is a story about Vulture and Danielle. He is a born leader and also a ghost just like his brothers. She never expected to end up in a nightmare and willing to give up anything to these vampires. Problem, she has secrets that they must never find out about. As both of their lives intertwine they find themselves barely hanging on to survival. What happens next I highly recommend picking up this book. It is for sure worth the pick up. I enjoyed their chemistry and growth throughout the story. They made such great characters and I enjoyed what they brought to the story. I really enjoyed this paranormal story with hot, steamy characters. I highly recommend this book.
