Of War and Taters by Ashley Chappell is a whimsical mystery with an endearing cast of characters. As I started reading the book I found it hard to figure out what kind of book it was supposed to be and where the story was going – it seemed like we were being shown a bunch of relatively unconnected events. But as the story progressed, everything began coming together and making sense (well, a bit of sense at least!). At the centre of the story is a theme of gossip and misleading journalism that is all too familiar in our “post-truth” world. Stories are blown out of proportion or even fabricated for dramatic effect, and even threaten to become self-fulfilling prophecies. There are characters for everyone to enjoy. The Upper and Lower Jelly River gangs are rival groups of mischievous, inquisitive children who have been thrust into the spotlight. They remind me of characters in books like Swallows and Amazons – sworn enemies until they find something else to team up against. Then there’s the Sherriff (double “r” intended) who seems to be doing quite well for someone whose usually quiet town has been turned upside down. There’s a circus to rival The Greatest Showman, with some excellent characters like Goliath the giant and Chaz the astigmatic ape. There’s Monty the thespian ghost, who reminded me somewhat of Gordon Way in Dirk Gently. I could go on! It’s an eclectic, endearing cast. For me, this is a five star book. It’s entertaining, engaging and different. If you enjoy books that are both very clever and very silly, such as the works of Douglas Adams and Tom Holt, I would definitely recommend it!

Paladin’s Hell by Manda Mellet is the first book in the Satan’s Devil’s MC Colorado Chapter spin off series.
I’ve read several of the Tucson books and liked each of the characters and was sad to say bye to them but I quickly found myself getting attached to the Pueblo crew and this was the perfect way for them to introduced to us.
Paladin is a good person and will do anything he needs to for Jayden. Their relationship didn’t start in the most conventional way but the depth of their love was a surprise to everyone especially them.
Though Hell and Moira are older then my husband and I, I felt like I could relate to her more because of the stage they are in in their life. Empty nesting is a learning process and Moira probably could have done it and a few other things differently.
I will be keeping up with this series. I want to know what happens to everyone and get to know each of the new guys better.

This is the 3rd book in The Jewel Chronicles series. I would recommend reading the first 2 books in the series first as it will give you all the details and information on characters that you need. It is totally worth reading all 3 books!!
In this installment we see Milenda with her husband Jaali readying themselves for a revolution. All they both wanted was to live a simple peaceful life, but duty calls and Milenda has to save her people.
Both Milenda and Jaali have been through a lot, and I wanted them to be able to relax as well. Milenda is an amazing and strong woman and it’s beautiful to watch her grow throughout the series. The fantasy land of Natale will really pull you in. It felt as though I was there myself observing and that is what I love the most in a book.
I would highly recommend this series and I cant stress enough that the best option is to read all 3 books!

This book was a great one. It is the second book I have read by Natalina Reis and I am interested in reading more by her. This is the final installment to the trilogy and I have to say that you should most definitely read book one and two before tackling this one. There is so much information that is needed before reading this book that i think it would make the reading experience way better than reading this one as a standalone. Our main characters are great in this one and they made this story a great one. This story was a roller coaster of emotions and I was on the edge of my seat rooting for the MC’s! I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys fantasy books!

Forbidden by Autumn Sand made me feel like a voyeur looking in a window at the neighbors. I have read several books by Ms. Sand, enjoyed them but knew she wasn’t the rainbow love type of author and she proved it once again.
Each one of the doors was a different story with a different plot and was incredibly well written. Of them all I liked door one the best, just something about the story that grabbed me.
If you want to peek into the lives of others and have time for a short book then give this one a try.
I was excited to read this book. The book starts with us going into club Forbidden, we meet Neria who is our hostess. She takes us through the club to seven doors, behind each door there is a different sexual scenario.
We get some very hot and steamy scenes that include some erotica as well. We also get some unexpected twists that added great elements to each story. Autumn does a great job of pulling you right in, once I started I couldn’t stop reading. This is a quick read that should be read with an open mind. I look forward to reading the next book.
Rebel Jewel is the third and final book in the Jewel Chronicles by Natalina Reis. This is a wonderful conclusion to this series full of excitement, adventure, drama and love. I would highly recommend you read this series in order to get the full back story. The first two books, Desert Jewel and Snow Jewel, are excellent reads. Melinda and Jaali are pulled out of exile to save the people of Natale, but at a high cost to their family and wellbeing. I find that the world that Ms. Reis created for this series is beautiful and scary at the same time. Once you start reading, this book won’t let you go. I was propelled to stay up later than usual just to finish, and it was well worth being tired all day today. I highly recommend this book, series and author and look forward to reading more from her in the future. Review by @sunbarn

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2) By Phoebe Alexander. This author always seems to leave me in an awed state of wonder. While I can definitely say she knows how to write a steamy story she also knows how to give you so many layers to the storyline. I recommend reading these in order trust me they are both equally worth it. All of the characters pulled me right into their world and honestly I didn’t want to leave. They have strong friendships and I loved each character for different reasons. This author knows how to capture readers from page one , heck from word one most of the time. If you’re looking for something unique and steamy but has a killer storyline to I highly recommend this series and this author. Five stars all the way.
Abby and Gabrielle Levesque are identical twins….in looks only! In personality, not so much! Abby is level headed, responsible, always taking care of herself and her sister. She makes sure all the bills are paid and that they somehow keep a roof over their head. The twins inherited their grandmother’s house after she passed and it’s become difficult to keep up on payments and keep the utilities on. It’s especially difficult when her sister is so irresponsible. She’s out with a different guy every night, can’t hold a job, and never remembers to pay bills when she’s supposed to. When she blows off yet another job, the consequence is a case of mistaken identity and a spur of the moment trip to Paris by Abby with Gabrielle’s boss!
Hudson Quinn is Gabrielle’s super-hot, super aggravating, billionaire boss. He has no idea he has grabbed the wrong sister and taken her to Paris as his personal assistant. If he finds out the truth, will he fire “Abby”? What will come of the twins and Abby’s ever increasing feelings for Gabrielle’s boss? This is a great story of mistaken identity. It brings the questions “what are you willing to do for money” and “what are you willing to do to save your childhood memories” to light. I loved this story and the characters and settings depicted throughout. I am looking forward to more of Avery Scott’s works!

Forbidden is a short book. It’s basically a story per chapter. Every door at forbidden gives you a different story. There’s something for everyone. Some of these were amazing reads. I have never read anything by this author that had this amount of heat. This is definitely worth a chance. I’m sure you will find a few of these that you will enjoy. I hope Autumn gives her readers more books like this one.
A great read, I felt I got to know these characters pretty well. Abby is the responsible twin between her sister Gabrielle and herself, but when Abby is left to cover a trip for her sister, she doesn’t expect Hudson. I really enjoyed the drama rollercoaster this book took me on. Will be reading more from this author in the future.

Let me start by saying, this is a one click author for me and ive loved every single thing she’s written. But this one, while its her writing style, it also wasn’t. I’m used to the character development and deep stories and this one didn’t do that for me. Its very different and i’ve not read anything like this before. Dive into different fantasies and choose the door you like the most.
Hmmmm. How does one review this book? This is a novella that contains 7 short stories. Each story is a stand alone with a beginning, middle, and end. What they have in common is the narrator who introduces the story.
Each story is a “forbidden” tale that is meant to titillate and excite. An enjoyable quick read on a Friday night.

This isn’t my first read by this author and she didn’t disappoint me in Paladin’s Hell the first book in the Satan’s Devils MC Colorado Chapter written by Ms. Mellett. The characters are great especially since we have already met them. They are well written, and I loved the plot. Jayden and Paladin relationship has been building through-out the Satan’s Devil series. They met two years ago she has been in love with him as he is in love with her. Paladin gave her time grow and had to wait years for her because she was to young. He knew without a doubt she was his girl. Now they’re on their way to a new compound in Colorado away from overprotective brothers they finally have a chance to be together or so they thought. Jayden and Paladin are just beginning a new club, a new life. But things are different here he doesn’t fit in and he is out of his depth. So instead of the beginning is it the end?
For some reason, Hellfire the president and Moira his old lady wants to force Jayden and I apart. They have been married for thirty-six years and their marriage is on shaky ground spills over into how they treat them. Is it because they see themselves in the younger couple or can it be their just miserable and don’t want to see anyone around them happy? Will they make it work or will outside forces break them apart? Will they get their happily ever-after? You must read this great book and find out. I highly recommend this book….

There are seven different doors in the club each with a different fantasy that gets hotter and sexier each time. You will feel like you have stepped into each door and are watching the scenes play out in front of you. Autumn’s writing is that detailed and I swear steam was coming from my kindle. If you are like me and like your book a little on the extra steamy side then you need to read this sexy novella.
I was hooked from the very beginning! Wendy Hewlett jumped right in with some difficult topics but has pulled it off in such an amazing and humanizing way. Ailey is one of the most believable characters I’ve read. She hasn’t had an easy time of it, but she doesn’t let that stop her from rediscovering herself. Such a good story of redemption and family. Solid work. 4 stars.

Friend (What Happens on Campus Series Book 3) by M L Sparrow is a great read. It can not be read as a standalone and must be read in order with the other books of the series. I love that it highlights Jet and Terrie in this novel. The storyline focuses on how their friendship changes after a traumatic event happens to Terri. She struggles with her personal bubble and self esteem greatly after being attacked. She was a very realistic character and so was Jet. I really enjoyed their development.
This book was easy to follow and organized well. I had no problem distinguishing when Jet was the lead or when Terri was the lead. It was also edited well. I love the cover the author chose for this novel. I really enjoyed reading this novel.

Milenda and her husband Jaali, are the main characters in this journey. I say journey as that is what it is. You will watch these two people grow and concur many struggles. Don’t get me wrong, these characters have a great story to tell. Come meet their friends and enemies, follow the tough road with Milenda and Jaali. You will find good times as well as bad. But I promise this is a series you will not want to miss.
Natalina Reis has written quite the book of emotions, struggle and love. Her finale really sent this loving couple through the wringer. Her characters, their friends and even enemies play an important role in this book. This being the final book in the series. Natalia Reis really brings it all together. Therefore you must read the first 2 books. To see how she brought it all together for her finale. I truly loved this story. I am so happy I started with book one. Just so I could read how it all ended. You can be sure I will be seeking more from Natalia Reis. Her series is a must read! Thank you for the journey Natalia Reis!

Tangles by Sharleen Scott is a wonderfully written story that had me crying pretty much throughout the whole book. As someone who has not only worked as a caregiver for patients with this horrible disease. I also just recently lost a family member to it. Alzheimer’s is a disease that destroys people’s memories and its terrible to watch .This story takes you on a emotional journey of Lois being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in her late sixties and her son Logan. He finds his moms secret journals and he’s taken on another journey that pretty much rattles him to the core.He tries to reconcile what he’s known his whole life but he has no one to ask questions to since his dad is gone and well so is Lois for lack of better terms. Secrets Never Die by Laurie Lewis is a book jammed packed with suspense and mystery. It grabs your complete attention right from the beginning and doesn’t ever let go. Laurie Lewis has created the kind of story has you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what might be happening. The story is full of twists and turns the whole way through and yet she does such a good job at controlling them all it is easy to keep track of what is happening. The characters were brilliant as well. They are the type that you just want to read more about. I would definitely not be disappointed if we were taken back into their lives at any point. This is a 5* author and an amazing book!

San Diego Dead is the fourth book in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. It is a thrilling mystery- with action, adventure, drama, danger, tension, twists & turns, assassins, cartels, narcoterrorists, violence, murder, gun fights, kidnapping, explosions, sharks, a high-stakes and dangerous game of cat and mouse…. and more. We team up with Jake Wolfe (lawyer, ex-marine, and covert operative), and his genius ex war dog, Cody, as they set out to solve this mystery and save the day. Trouble seems to find Jake- and this story is no exception- as his holiday to unwind and relax takes a dangerous turn. He soon finds that he, Cody, and the ones they hold dear, are all in the sights of a dangerous cartel boss who has a twisted agenda that will put a lot of people in serious danger. Jake and Cody, with the help of some loyal friends , unravel the puzzle piece by piece- and set about hunting down a very important package before it gets into the wrong hands. The tension and danger mounts- as the enemy will stop at nothing to get what they want. As expected, this is a fast paced story with lots of twists and surprising developments. I was hooked right from the beginning, reading it all in one sitting just to find out how it all plays out. The story is told from multiple POV’s- and even Cody, the dog has a perspective. This gave me a richer reading experience, because I had so much more information to work with. As with all the books in this series, the characters are fantastic- they are really well developed and fully realised characters with their own quirky personalities. I especially love how incredibly detailed and developed Cody’s personality is- it’s this attention to detail that really sets this book/s apart from others in the same genre! There were a few minor issues in this book which I haven’t seen occur in any of the other books- and has left me a little puzzled. Things I can’t go into in too much detail because I don’t want to give away any of the storyline. But as an example- Jake helps someone out of a hole, lifting them to his shoulders, before setting them down onto solid ground- then in the very next sentence he is in the hole with that person and lifting them out and onto the ground. So which way is it? It’s as if there were parts of the story where Mr. Nolan hadn’t fully decided which way he wanted to write it and so wrote both ways, maybe thinking to go back later and edit out one scenario and leave the other in- but some got missed in the process and so now we have two versions play out in the story. This didn’t really affect my enjoyment of the book, but I was ‘pulled out’ of the story when I came across them and had to re-read them just to be sure I hadn’t missed anything and was reading it right. The story can definitely be read as a standalone- but there are recurring characters, elements, and details from previous books which are mentioned in passing in this story- so if you were to read all three of the other books before starting on this one, you would definitely have a richer and more enhanced experience of “San Diego Dead”. There were quite a few emotional scenes through this book which made my heart ache. And even though the ‘romantic’ aspect of this book is secondary to the thriller/mystery, we watch as Jake and Sarah’s relationship hits a few rocky patches. So do they work things out, or will they part ways forever? I also appreciated the interesting and informative ‘letter’ from the author at the end of the book. As it gave me even more to think about, while adding a personal touch to the story as well. I LOVE all the book covers on this series- and I think this is my favourite one yet! I can’t wait to see what Jake and Cody get up to next!

The Bad Twin: A Mistaken Identity Billionaire Romance is a great contemporary romance novel from Avery Scott. I had previously read The First Lady and Too Hot To Handle by this author and had loved them both so I had high hopes for this book. Added to the fact that the blurb was just right up my street then there was no way that I was not going to love this book. I’m so glad to say that my gut reaction was correct. I loved this book. This is the ultimate case of mistaken identity. Abby Levesque lives with her identical twin Gabrielle in their grandmother’s old house which they are at risk of losing. When Gabby’s boss Hudson turns up at their house he mistakes Abby for Gabby and demands that she accompanies him on a work trip to Paris or she will lose her job. What’s a girl to do? Abby goes with him and pretends to be her sister as they really need the money to save their house. I have to say that I loved both Abby and Hudson. Abby is ‘the good twin’ and just wants to do what’s right to help her family. Hudson just wants his father to be proud of him. I loved the interactions between the 2, especially when Hudson asked questions about their trip which Abby had no clue to the answer as Gabby had been the one who did the organising, so she just looked to be stupid and incompetent. So what would happen when Hudson finds out that it isn’t his assistant Gabby who has been with him? Especially as he had come to like the version of Gabby he had seen on the trip. I’m not going to spoil that for you, you’ll just have to read The Bad Twin to find out. It won’t disappoint!

I give Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis, 4 stars. **This review contains spoilers from previous books in series.**
Milenda is happy with her husband and son, living in her husband’s lands where no one knows she is a princess. But she knows it cannot last. Her people need her and the gods have declared that it is time. Can she defeat the elders and help free her people? Is she ready to step up and accept the responsibility of being the royal princess and future queen? But revolution does not come without a cost, is she willing to pay the price?
I forgot how much I loved Milenda and this series, but this book quickly reminded me of that. There is so much that happens and Milenda continues to grow and become who she is meant to be. Not mention the friends — both new and old — that are willing to stand by her and help her. I couldn’t believe how good the story itself was. It is a great conclusion to this series.
The book should be read after the previous books in the series, but I highly recommend not only this book, but the whole series.

When I first started this book I was so excited and got completely invested pretty quick. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It was a bit predictable and didn’t go as I thought it would but it was a fun story to read.
This is not my first book by this author and as always I enjoy her writing style and her stories always flow smoothly making them really easy to read. This I believe is only my second book ever with the twin mix up and as I said it felt predictable, I really liked Abby and found that I could connect with her, but I never really liked Hudson, I’m not sure if maybe it was just not enough development or what but I just never cared for him all the way through the book.
I really am looking forward to reading more from this author, as stated above, I like her writing style, and so far each book I have read by her has been different and does not follow a common thread each time, which I appreciate.

Calling the Curveball: a Lawson Family Novel by Tracey Cramer-Kelly and is the third book in the Lawson family novel series. Jamie Lawson always knew that his life was baseball and one accident that changed his life forever and took his dreams away. Kira spending the summer with her sister, meets Jamie and wants him to be her summer fling. Together these two both with pasts that hurt him bring out side that they both need and enjoy! The question is, can they both let go of the past and hit a homerun together? I love this book, I love the two main characters so much and Jamie’s family simply seal the deal for me. I wish the book was longer because I hated to see it end! I highly recommend this read and give it 4 stars.

Forbidden (Tales of Passion, Lust & Betrayal Vol. 1) by Autumn Sand. Let me just say Autumn Sand is one of my favorite authors. This book is amazing. Its pretty short and pretty HOT! Its about a club named Forbidden which is an exclusive club. Not just everyone can get in. Neria is the hostess and there are 7 doors that you can enter that all lead to tantalizing pleasures that seem to get steamier and steamier as you progress. There are emotions involved as well that suck you in and of course the characters you come to care about. If you like Hot & Spicy reads then this is the book for you! Read Forbidden you won’t regret it!
I could NOT put this book down! It’s a late into the night read! This is filled with wonderful loving and crazy characters. I enjoyed how this is told from various characters as the story moves along. I loved going through all of this strangeness with Claire. Learning about the Fae life and the power and the men.
I am not a fan of reverse harem books. I have read this author before and love her work so i figured i would give it a try. (Go KU) The love portion is So HOT….beware it will burn your fingers turning those pages!! When these characters get together..the elements and emotions are flying high. Titus?!? And his fire magic in the kitchen?? I need ICE CUBES! STAT!!
The author does a great job making me look at these relationships differently. I can easily see the burning heat and raw passion from Titus and it seems that Exos is more pure. Not saying he can’t heat things up but he loves kissing her forehead and touching her…much more cuddling. I wonder what her other relationships will be like.
The book ends on a small cliffhanger…only if you read the Epilogue. If you stop after the last chapter everything ends just fine. The author is gearing up for book 2.
Overall this is much more than I thought it would be. The story is very good and interesting. The idea is novel and the characters are alpha, sexy and smart. This is a good start to a new series.

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis is an action packed fantasy story and the final suspenseful chapter in this series and a culmination of an intense journey the characters have been through. I suggest reading all the books in order because they do follow on from the others. The vibrant world that Natalina has created is easily visible with the wonderful characters and her word smithing. The danger is inherent and very real, the love and hope pops of the page, the drama and adventure pops of the page and you are left navigating some curly twists to help the characters get their goal and their lives.
In this installment we see Milenda and Jaali called to return to a world where slaves live in fear and torment and the Elders need to be taken down. Bringing back all the horrible memories and injustices that are being inflicted upon their countrymen and women. It is those memories that push them on to make a better life but at what cost?
Natalina ties everything up nicely making it a good finish to the series.

Miami Days, Havana Nights by Linda Bennett Pennell 4 stars!!!!
I have to say that I was quite taken in by this book. This is the second book from this author I have read and I wasn’t disappointed. The author has quite a unique story line. The characters are very realistic. I felt as though I was right there in the book going through all the drama with them.
I really enjoyed seeing how Liz’s story has continued. I really like how the author balances the history she is researching with the present day to tell the story. I do really like to read various genres and this is just what I needed. I really would like to read more from this author in the future.
