Caught in Cross Seas is the first book in the Caught series. It can be read as a standalone.
It took a few chapters for me to get into the story, but once more layers started showing up, it became entertaining. At times the story is a bit predictable, but the drama keeps you reading. It is essentially the sweet-girl-with-a-past-meets-famous-person-who-can-fix-everything tale. The last third of the book is intense and probably the best part of the story. And I won’t lie, I may have needed some tissues near the end. Not a bad diversion from reality for a few hours.

Caught in Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott a four-star read that will want to run to. This is the first novel in the Caught series and shows how great this series is. This could be too much of a story as there is so much going on with the story and lots of different sub plots, but somehow the author manages to keep it all together and keeps you hooked in to the twists and turns. Clay Masterson and Harlie Cates have a darkness that they are running from, but will they get to run to the light? Each has a different darkness but sometimes you find a common strength in the dark. I can’t wait to read the second novel in this series.

Building Storm- A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 4), by Gwyn McNamee. This is the fourth book in the Hawke Family Series. I fell in love with this author and this series from the first page of the first book. I have been waiting to read Storm’s story. This book had me hooked especially when Landon came into the picture. Their pull to each other was magical. They were both emotional wrecks that needed each other to heal. I both laughed and cried while reading this book!!! I absolutely love Gwyn’s books and can not wait for more!!!!

So I have done a bit of binge reading…I had only read Savage Collision before this book was released so could not read this one till I completed the other two and now I have a bonafide Hawke Family hangover and am so so sad that I don’t have another to move on to. I love this family and all those that have come along and joined it. Each story is unique and has something different to offer but the one constant throughout is the family ties which is one of my favorite things in my books. Then of course there’s the way this author twists these stories and you just sit there not knowing what is going to happen or when it’s going to happen. This one had me lost on the impending twist, I usually have some idea of what might happen but this one threw me and for some reason I didn’t see it coming till it was obvious.
My heart was broken in two at the end of Stone Sober and it didn’t mend till quite a ways into this one. That’s one of the reasons I love this author so so much, when I read her books I just know I’m in for an emotional ride and when that ride ends it always leaves me wanting so much more. I know this can’t be it…There’s more story to tell for this family especially with characters that have appeared back and you just know there’s more drama ahead and I for one CAN NOT WAIT!!
Do not even attempt to read these books out of order…It will not work and besides this author is brilliant and you don’t want to miss a single word 🙂

OMG..These book are killing me….I knew when I opened this one it was going to be an emotional one and I was so right….So much going on I don’t even know where to start.
I knew when reading Books 1 & 2 that somewhere along the way Stone would get his story and I knew there had to be a lot more to him than what I was seeing previously. As unsure of him as I was it did not take long to fall head over heels for this guy. As his story unfolds everything about him starts making sense and the way he felt about Nora…sigh…He tried to do the right thing and stay away from her but he just couldn’t help it. Nora is Dani’s sister and the sole reason that Dani met Savage when she did. I loved Nora…her cute ways of trying not to swear made me smile. She wasn’t all innocent and pure but was definitely not the type of woman that would stir Stone normally. Dani also tried to stay away from him but the draw was too strong and watching her struggle with how much she found herself loving all that Stone was and had to offer made complete sense.
It was the rest of the story that had me all messed up…So many things that came out of left field and made my jaw drop…This had my feelings all over the place, I went from being totally angry to completely heartbroken many times and I could not predict how this one was going to end, at one point I thought omg there’s not enough time for some of this to be dealt with but once again this author had everything under control and my love for her writing just gets stronger the more I read. So many things still to come and I’ve already got the next ready to go and can not wait to jump back in to this amazing family…

It has been awhile since I read Savage Collision and I’ll admit I kinda forgot just how much I love this author and her books, and how I absolutely couldn’t wait for the next in the Hawke Series. I loved Skyes story and everything that went with it. This author knows how to hook you on page 1 and literally won’t let you go even after you finish and that’s because she lets you in just a bit on what is coming next and thankfully I have the next sitting here waiting for me to start.
I love this family and those that are part of it even if they aren’t, like Gabe, who has been a part of the family for over 20 years and Savage’s best friend, which is why wanting Savage’s little sister is such a bad idea, especially when he is dealing with so many ghosts haunting him from his past.
Skye Hawke, Savage’s little sister who has tried very hard to push everyone away and cant seem to get over the loss of her twin sister. She threw herself at Gabe at Savage and Dani’s wedding and was rejected and knows that pursuing him will do nothing but cause problems within the family, but can she help herself?
I loved this story, and this family…I have become emotionally invested in all of them and love how this author can throw in some twists that you don’t see coming. This was an off the charts hot yet emotional read and I can not wait to dive in to Stone’s story.
Highly recommend, but don’t read these out of order, they all tie together and you really need all the pieces to fit!

Building Storm: A Hawke Family Novel by Gwyn McNamee Five Stars
Building Storm is the fourth book in The Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. This series needs to be read in order because one book follows the next. This is such a great series, you won’t want to miss any of the five star stories. That being said this is my absolute favorite book by Ms. McNamee and the best story I have read over the past year. Storm and Landon’s story is so emotional. They have both lost loved ones or been hurt by those they loved. This is truly an amazing story that you won’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book, series and author and can’t wait to see what Ms. McNamee has in store for us next.

Surviving Jordan by Virginia Wine is the third book in the Surviving Series. This book started with a twist and the suspense and mystery kept me guessing.
I loved Jordan! She is a strong woman who was fortunate enough to not have to deal with men who don’t think she’s worthy of her position.
Ben is a great and honorable guy. He deserves to be happy after all of the emotional torture he has put himself through.This has been an amazing series to read and I highly recommend it.

Caught in the Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott is the first book in the Caught Series. I was drawn in at the very beginning and hated to finish it only because I enjoyed it so much.
Harlie has an incredibly giving heart and she tugged at my heart in the first chapter and didn’t let go. Her work to give back to people who are in such dire need me makes me want to do more. She has her demons but don’t we all.
Clay also has an amazing heart and demons. He hasn’t let his fame effect who he is as a person and it has actually made him able to do more.
As a child of an addict I was able to connect with some of the feelings Harlie had buried deep. As much as we don’t want to admit it the actions of our parents both positive and negative impact us.
Great book! Can’t wait to get to the next in the series.

Building Storm is tear jerking book four in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I knew from the blurb for this book it was going to be an emotional one. I was not wrong at all!! I am endlessly surprised by how an author can continuously produce these stories of such high quality and content, time and time again. They have my respect and appreciation for all the work that goes into each story. You can always tell the ones that leave it all on the pages for us lucky readers to witness. I am in awe of the stunning impact these stories have on me and the memories that will stay with me while I am on this earth.
Storm knows tragedy and pain, as does Landon. They have scars so deep, there is no end to them. Intensity and strange events have them drawn to each other, but for the physical connection, nothing more. I love when they think they are fooling us. They can be in denial all they like, but they will find that peace together. I will not have it any other way! The more they fight, the more inevitable it becomes. Landon is stubborn, and does not ever give up on Storm. Storm breaks my heart with what she has endured, that all I want is her to find that much deserved happiness. The emotional turmoil was relentless, but those moments of intense passion and connecting with another, was blinding in its beauty.
Building Storm is the final story in the Hawke Family series. It was agonising to read the last word of the final chapter, but an immeasurable pleasure to have been on this journey with all these complex,crafty, flawed and entertaining characters. This series is one I will read many more times. An unforgettable series. 5 stars.

Killer Lawyer (Jake Wolfe Book 3) by Mark Nolan was a pretty okay read that has many heart stopping moments.
My first read by this author, I didn’t know what I was getting into. I will say that this book is part of a series, and though this book can be read as a standalone, I did find that there were many things, in regards to character background, development, and past plots; that at times made me feel lost. So I highly suggest reading the other books before this one.
As much as I enjoyed this book, I have a mixed review for you.
This was for me, a slow read, that was a little all over the place. I felt like there were too many sub-plots, too much non-essential information, and way too much overexplaining. The lulls between action were dull, too long, and frankly I got a little bored. To be blunt, I got some Issues with Sara. Now that could have come from me jumping into this series at book 3, but man oh man, she got on my nerves. I don’t like when ultimatums are given, and frankly I found the way she acted towards Jake was immature and closed minded. There has to be give and take, and to make a relationship work, compromise is needed, and one person should not have to give up their entire life/job, when the other party isn’t willing or won’t do the same. I’m a serving member, and maybe I’m pulling at old wounds, but that whole situation was, you could say, triggering for me.
On to the good.
I have a deep love for the amount of research that when into this book. I’m talking the little things, one that got me was the “hurry up and wait.” It’s a common military situation, one I have been in many times. Nothing like to have to show up for 0530, only to be told you’re on standby, but you can’t relax because you might have to jump into action at a moments notice… three hours later and you’re still “on standby“… so yeah, that one made me chuckle.
When the action got underway it was suspenseful, heart stopping, and detailed. I like the multi POV, especially when the killer was narrating. It was a creepy look inside his twisted head, and added a darker, almost panic like layer, that offset the slower parts of this book. I like all the characters, their connections to Jake and even though they gave him greef, you could feel the respect they had for him.
Overall this book is well written, engaging and intriguing. It could use a hair cut, to get rid of some of the unnecessary bulk and filler, but in the long run, I very much enjoyed my time reading this thriller and it gets my high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Chain Reaction was a great 4 star read and book two in the Nite Fire series. I was once again pulled right in by the authors writing.
Dahlia and Creed are back and are working as a team, they find themselves on a new case where bodies are being found burned up. Will they be able to find answers before it’s too late?
There is also a very dangerous drug that has some unusual side effects. Dahlia is trying to find out who is feeding the drugs to people before it’s too late. Can she keep the paranormal secret from getting out?
I don’t want to go into too much detail because there is so much to this great read. There are several twist and turns that added a great element to the story. All the secondary characters were great, they all added a great element to the story. Dahlia and Creed are great together, they mesh so well and I love it. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the culprit was. If you like lots of action, suspense, and paranormal reads this is the series for you. This is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I look forward to reading more from this series/author.
Stone Sober is book three in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. This story centres around Storm and Nora. Can i just say the names of these characters get my heart racing just reading them. The guys names are so manly and fitting for each character so far, it just is simply unleashed talent and delivery of amazing stories. It just impresses me beyond measure.
Stone just wormed his way into my thoughts and heart and left his own unique little mark. I don’t know whether it is because i feel he had the most pressure put on him, more so self inflicted, or whether he always felt he had something to prove, but he just dragged those caring emotions out of me more than any other character. Nora was not supposed to get under his skin like she did, but cupid had other ideas. Nothing can stop true love and theirs was destiny. But they had to fight for it, and their struggle for happiness will be an ongoing one. Nora does what she has to do and her innocence is endearing and brings out every protective instinct i have. She is a character that makes you want to tuck her under your wing and shelter her from any deluge.
Gwyn McNamee provided another twisting, intriguing and unputdownable story. Their rare and deadly story was unforgettable and hard to match. A pleasure to get to know was this cast, and getting to know more is a real addiction for me. 5 stars.

Tortured Skye is book two in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. As I expected, these stories just seem to get better, with each story as unique and perfect as the one before it. It is really hard getting back to reality after reading a Gwyn McNamee story. I read with my emotions, so these stories just get to me on a whole different level, which is rare and so precious to me. They really are the ultimate escape to paradise.
Skye and Gabe are a couple that intrigue me. Skye loved Gabe for a long time, and Gabe felt he had no business having these deeply ingrained feelings for Skye. But no one can fight the inevitable. Their attraction is deep. Their attraction erotic and endless. The way they handle their sizzling chemistry will leave you breathless. The dynamic between the two is the most arousing. Their very essence drew me in and had me a bundle of nerves, as I i never quite knew what they would throw out next. It was a gift to read their exciting and boldly dramatic tale.
The further I get into this series, the more bittersweet it is. I cannot wait to read all the stories, but at the same time, never want to reach the end. I don’t want this crazy ride to ever end. I am in a constant state of delirious joy at revealing each character and the story the have to tell. It becomes an addiction that gets satisfied but I am still endlessly curious as to what happens next. Always a pleasure reading this author’s work. 5 stars.

Savage Collision is book one in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I was first introduced to this author when reading the Scandalous Slip series and was so happy I discovered her. She is a witty, descriptive and extremely talented. Savage Collision was a more serious story that instantly grabbed my attention.
Dani had sass and attitude aplenty, and Savage feels that full force of it from the very first meeting. Savage is astounded and captivated. Their story is so edgy and fraught with danger and suspense. One thing blatantly obvious is the intense attraction. The chemistry is off the charts and I was drawn tight in anticipation. The drawing magnetism that is apparent between them is its own living, breathing entity, and left me a quivering mess of emotion.
Savage Collision is an amazing introduction into the Hawke family. Dani and Savage’s journey was electric, inspiring and arousing. The secondary characters I cannot wait to get to know more of and continue this dangerously addictive series. 5 stars

This was an amazing read. Emil and Perrin were amazing characters that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. They both had their own flaws but did their best to help each other through them. I loved that the author tied so much detail into Emil’s flashbacks. As much as I hated to see his character have to deal with that, I felt that it was very realistic and helped me understand his PTSD better. Perrin had her own issues with things after the loss of her parents but she did great in helping Emil through his episodes. I loved this novel!

Stone Sober: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 3) Gwyn McNamee was not what I expected, it was better. Gwyn is a great story teller and this is one of my favourite series. I have loved the other two books in the series but this is my favourite so far, they just keep getting better and better, if that is even a possibility. Gwyn weaves lots of twists and turns that will have your heart pumping and emotions running all over the place. There are laughter and tears, sorrow and doubt, confusion and heartache, love and heartbreak and that is just naming a few. It is a little dark as well and that just adds to the excitement, drama and thrills.
Stone is the baby of the family and has just returned home but he is not so sure that is a good thing. He has a secret that only one other person knows, a secret that has led him down the wrong path, a secret that he uses vices to try to escape from. Now he has found a new vice and knows he needs to stay away or ruin a beautiful thing.
Nora is smart and sexy and turned away from a brilliant career to strip but no one knows her reasons and no one understands but it is the perfect job, it is freeing and that is just what she needs for now. But when she finally finds out who hides in the corner, in the shadows her life will forever be changed.
Trust me this is an amazing story and you will not want to put it down. It is hot and dark and forbidden and oh so good.

Perilous Confessions by Carrie Dalby is the first book in The Possession Chronicles. This is a story set in the Edwardian Era and tells the story of Lucy Easton. She is wanting to be a writer and has some difficult choices to make. She also meets Alexander Melling who has an interesting past. Can the two of them look past the difficulties? This is a well-written book that I was engrossed in from beginning to end. I really enjoy historical fiction and this was really enjoyable. I liked the characters and the storyline. I am looking forward to where this story goes in future books. There was a lot of attention to detail which added to the story.

Tortured Skye (Hawke Family Novels) is the second book in the series by Gwyn McNamee and is an erotic contemporary romance that will set you on fire. I love anything Gwyn writes and the Hawke Family series is fast becoming one of my favourites. The emotions that Gwyn instills in her stories has the ability to grab you from the very first page and keeps you titillated right until the very last word.
Skye Hawke has lost one half of herself and is still trying to comes to terms with it by hiding her pain behind her stubborn and hot headedness and down right rudeness. She also has a secret, a secret she has had since she was sixteen years old.
Gabe Anderson doesn’t do commitment, but now that he has noticed his best friends little sister is no longer little, he has more to lose which ever way he turns. Love the woman and lose the best friend or keep the best friend and lose the woman.
Gwyn McNamee is a must on everyone’s to READ list. I can’t wait to demolish her next book.

On the surface they should not work, they should not be able to find anything common but when you dig deeper and the more the story unfolds you actually realize that they balance each other out … the differences actually are the ones pulling them together … The writer has given us a story that will haunt us for a while … it is a story that shows us that we can find light in the darkness when you lean on each other … she makes us cry and laugh and rage and hate and love and look at our lives and reminds us to be grateful for what we have!

Brinda Berry’s Fifth Book In The Stand By Me Series, The Shape Of Trust has been another incredible captivating read from the get go. This is my second read from this author and even with this being book 5 they can be read as stand-alone and be enjoyed and loved just as much as if read in sequence. I was totally captivated with this read from the moment I started it. I absolutely loved the realness of this story and the plot and issues that are in this book, they are believable and relatable, and most definitely made a change to read about a single dad. I was surprised at how quickly I loved both Webb’s character and Lily’s. These two have an instant attraction and connection that is undeniable, but is it something both of them can resist? Or will they get their HEA? With emotions running high through this book, it was a book nobody will put down and most certainly pick up and read again! It’s the perfect romance novel for all.
After reading this book I most definitely need to read all the ones I have missed. I can’t wait to see what else Brinda Berry does with this series, if it’s anything like this one you will not be disappointed!

This is book 4 of the Hawke Family series. I have read all the other stories in this series, and this story definitely didn’t disappoint. This story was very well done. I was hooked from the first page until the very end. I really cannot wait to see what Gwyn McNamee has in store for us for future stories in this series.
In the other stories, we really didn’t get to know Storm very well. However, Storm experienced such trauma and change in such a short period of time that it would have been impossible for her to be the same. Storm is finding herself again. She stubborn, fierce, and stronger than she realizes. Now for Landon, he is extremely patient and understanding. I feel that Gwyn really wrote someone special for Storm!
a great read about temptation. Evangeline is happy with her life until she meets Landon Kelly at an art gallery showcasing a friends work. Upon meeting him, she is instantly drawn into a world od fire and temptation without even knowing his name. She tries her best to resist the call, but her heart betrays her. As events unfold, will this temptation make her happy or ruin everything? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that i just couldnt put down. Well developed characters like Evangeline trying to put herself first but still vulnerable or Jesse as kind and caring. Great cast of supporting characters like the control freak June or the calm Mira. i loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the sense of art bright and colorful in vivid colours of pinkd and oranges as something more and to tell a story. i also loved the imzgery of destruction with the shipwreks and fire as conduming but emotive. Or the house by the lake as one serene moment in all of life with the sunrise and the cool waters. Or the busy sense of the cafe bars and Evangelines work fill of life and people all conveyed through verse was wonderfully written. Or the use of the sense throughout with smell and touch and taste as ifyou were actuslly there. Setting the novel in free verse was a brillaint idea to display Evangelines thoughts and feelings. The lack of punctuation in short stanzas was a brilliant addition, for a fast paced feel that even pulled the reader into the spiral of events and was also easy to follow. Overall, a great read and i would give it five stars.

Less You Know by Rowena Holloway is the second book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This book is an enthralling as the first one. Centred around two best friends it explores the fact that we never really know people as well as we think we do. This book absolutely grabbed my attention. I had to know what was going to happen; where had Allie gone? What secrets had she been hiding? Could Charlotte find her? Would Charlotte disappear next. I could feel my heart thumping at times as I was reading this book. It truly was edge of your seat type reading. Rowena Holloway has such a gripping writing style. I am glad that I have discovered her work!

Crime Lord’s Captive (Crime Lord #1) by Mia Knight 5 out of 5 stars Crime Lords Captive is the first book in the Crime Lord series written by Mia Knight ad the first book that I have read by this author. This is a dark, twisted story that and I loved it. Ms. Knight captivated from the first page of this book. The characters are well written and strong minded and the storyline was amazing and believable.
Lyla fled from her ex, Gavin Pyre three years ago after she found out he was cheating on her. She created a new identity and began a relationship with a man who knows nothing about her past. The normal life she built for herself is shattered when Gavin blackmails her into returning to Las Vegas where he rules the criminal underworld. Gavin Pyre is the head of the underworld of Vegas he lost Lyla once but he won’t lose her again he will do anything to keep her even threaten the one’s she loves. Gavin’s Enemies are swarming around can he keep Lyla safe?
There are bad things happening in Vegas Can Lyla stay safe with Gavin’s enemies lurking around? Will Lyla survive Gavin this time? Can Lyla forgive Gavin for his past mistakes? Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 4) Gwyn McNamee just blew me out of the water. I thought Stone was my favourite and now Building Storm has surpassed my expectations. Gwyn is an amazing writer and and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. This story I devoured in one sitting, even though I had to get up for work the next day I absolutely could not set it aside. I was so wrapped up in the story time was gone before I even came up for air. Gwyn knows just the right ingredients to weave together to give you an experience you will not forget. Your heart will be pumping and jumping out of your chest and your emotions running all over the place. I felt as though I was the one in the story as I felt it all. I laughed, I cried and sobbed, my sorrow and love was real, my heart broke and at times I could not breathe.It is as beautiful as it is dark, it is as wonderful as it is sad and it is raw and powerful. The complexity of the characters and their lives and the plot is a work of art.
There will be no spoilers on this review as the story speaks for itself. There are a multiple of other books I can see from some of the other characters in this series and I really, really can not wait to see where Gwyn may take us.
This is the most amazing story that no one should miss. It is brilliant.

From the beginning, I felt like I had stepped onto a ride that didn’t stop until I had finished the final page. It made my heart beat faster and I had to remind myself to breathe. This story had me on the edge of my seat and wondering what was going to happen next. Charlotte Ashe is a woman who wants to uncover lies and expose those who tell them. She believes and wants to prove that Tyrone Garner is a fraud. Charlotte is someone that once she starts down a path, she is determined to get answers. She has a strong will. Allie is Charlotte’s friend and doesn’t shy away from helping her with her investigation. A little bit of spying sounds exciting. When Allie vanishes, Charlotte is desperate to find her. Will Charlotte find Allie? Is Allie still alive? Charlotte has now found herself going down a path in which more questions are being raised. Secrets about Allie are uncovered. Will Charlotte find out the complete truth about her friend? Is everything that she believes about Tyrone Garner the truth? Read this book to find out. Trying to put together what was happening and who was responsible was like working on a puzzle. There are characters whose motives and actions are questionable. Is Charlotte in danger? Perilous Confessions is book one in the Possession Chronicles by Carrie Dalby. I haven’t read anything by this author, so reading this book was a new and exciting experience.
Lucy and Alexander fall love and it is a tale for the ages. I love reading the whole romance process from many years ago. From the courtship, to the marriage, to the rest of their lives together, and all the trials and hurdles along the way. Alexander had his demons to slay, and Lucy had to decide if he was worth the extra effort it may take to build that forever with him.
Carrie Dalby has a style that captivates and dazzles the audience. Attention grabbing intensity and drama male this story hard to put down. 4 stars.

What a fantastic roller coaster! Literally, this book grabbed hold of me tightly with the first page. I was glued to my seat as I poured over every page attempting to figure out what was going on and who was responsible. The author establishes a very clear tone reinforced by the narration by two characters. Really enjoyed this thrilling whodunit. Definitely recommended reading!
