A great story to read anytime you need to lose yourself in a different world. This story is Cal and Annie’s. Both Cal and Annie have troubled lives and are gapped a decent bit in age. Even with the age gap, you can feel the connection between the two. A.R. does a great job drawing you in and making you feel every emotion and giving you the best descriptions, that you can absolutely see it all.

This is the second book in The Brass Ring Series. This book is a magical adventure for children although as an adult I enjoyed reading it to my son as much as he enjoyed hearing it. This is a wonderful magical adventure with a Christmas feel to it. The author does an amazing job of writing a story that is fun and engaging and captivating while also explaining the true meaning for Christmas and introducing children to illness such as Alzheimer’s in a way that allows the children to understand and not be afraid.
We are back with Rusty and his Grandpa. Rusty wants to get his Grandpa a special gift for Christmas after his Grandpa gave him a magical ring in the first book which allowed him to go on adventures. Rusty wants to get his Grandpa a gift just as special in return but with money being tight how can he get his Grandpa the gift he truelly wants. When he is shopping with his mum for Christmas gifts he spots a Christmas Carousel. Would the magical ring work on this on? What follows is a magical adventure where Rusty learns the true meaning for Christmas and gift giving all with the help of the animals on the Christmas Carousel. Will Rusty finally be able to find the perfect gift for his Grandpa? This was a really magical festive read that was enjoyed by both myself and my son it captured both of us.

I have read a few of this author’s books and she always makes my niece laugh. This book is another great book in the amazing invisible magic wand. These books don’t need to be read in order. This is the first book I have read from this author. This is the first book from the Ocean series. I love reading about a character’s life from teen to adulthood. You can’t help wanting to give him a hug and sometimes wanting to slap him at the same time. I was so addicted to this story I read it in only a day and can’t wait to see what will happen next to him.
Cal Prescott loves being a surfer. He is well known with all the girls as well. Cal loved his life until his grandfather passes away. He now sees life a little bit differently. I read this book after reading The Ocean Meets the Sky and I am glad that I did. Not only did it help me to understand why Cal is the way that he is, but if I’d read this book first, I would have been way more biased against his character when he meets Annie. This was an amazing story about Cal’s life from a young teen boy to the 45-year-old man that we learn to love in The Ocean Meets the Sky. This book is definitely a must-read if you loved reading the prior series, because it gives you a peak into the life that Cal had lived, all of the love and loss that he endured throughout his life, and the treatment that he received to develop him into the person that he is. I loved reading this book and am glad that I read it in the order that I did, without this book I would always have been left wondering about what Cal’s past experiences had really had such a huge effect on him. Getting to read about them was such an eye-opener and really added a whole new depth to this book series. I am now a huge fan of this author’s work and am excited to see what else may have been written. Cal and Annie’s romance in this story was truly written in the stars! I loved the fact that this book was rewritten to put all three stories into one book, I had not read the prior versions, but there is so much to these characters’ stories that it just needed to be a long read, which I love. There are so many dynamics to Annie and Cal’s backstories that you pick up as you get farther into the story. The side characters are all so amazing, in the fact that you have the fun-loving best friend of Annie, who is an amazing performer, and then you have Annie’s drunk mother and her highly intelligent father, and of course, her foster parents who were more like her real parents, and the reason for her meeting Cal in the first place. Whereas Cal has her older cousin who is more like a big sister or a mother figure to him, his amazing household helper Rosa, who practically raised him, and his mother, a character that truly explains why Cal is the way he is. The settings are described beautifully, I’ve never been to Miami or South Beach, but from the descriptions I can picture them perfectly, hearing the waves of the ocean crashing on the beach. This love story is just phenomenal to read, don’t let the number of pages scare you away from reading this book, they literally just fly by as you engross yourself in the pages and lives of these characters. This is book one in The Y Chronicles series. Even though this is marked for young adult fiction, adults will enjoy this as well. The Imperium rules with an iron fist where everything about your life is decided for you. I enjoyed this female lead character who is coming of age and wants to choose her own destiny. The author creates a world where the reader can truly lose themselves in the plot. I found myself thinking about this world when I wasn’t reading, and wanted to get back to the book! There is conflict, pain, love, courage, treachery, and tragedy. Everything you like in a dystopian future!

What made this read compelling to read is how this series is intertwined in a unique sense. As already indicated in the plot review, this book can be stand alone or read in whichever sequence the reader chooses. Perspectives and viewpoints differ as they collide into one. Absolutely must read and highly recommend reading both novels in this series. This one is a quick read and focuses on the life of Annie, who is a photographer and a young independent strong female character. Since graduating college, many struggles have come forth to her. She is learning to come to grips with the demise of her brother and feels lost where a sense of stability is needed for herself. Then she has a chance meeting with an older man who has been dealing with his own struggles in a relatable way, Cal, who at the time of their meeting is 45 years old. There is an age gap in these intertwined novels but you can see that despite the gap, they can really connect one another and be the support and care they are seeking.

The Ocean is His Veins was an interesting journey. Since I read Where the Ocean Meets the Sky first to me it was a prequel of sorts. Though the author description says it doesn’t matter which is read first it could go either way. This story specifically is Cal’s story. Gives one a better understanding of who Cal is and what he went through during his life. Cal was the character I loved in Where Ocean Meets the Sky, so knowing he has his own book describing his life’s journey right to where the next book starts. I was completely on board. Cal loved his mother but she hardened him. That feeling is a weakness so you can’t show them. So he navigates life believing that. He craves power; he goes for it. He craves physical attention; he goes for it. Nothing is out of his grasp. He’s living the life albeit lonely at times, the life he wants. He can’t see himself getting married and having kids so the way he navigates it is ideal. During that time he fell in love twice. With other life experiences in between. I loved that the author gave him a backstory. He’s such a complicated character, but one the reader loves. One you want to root for, to finally be himself and let go. Throughout the 25 year journey this book lays out there’s plenty of ups and downs, however I’m not sure there’s tons of growth. Just more of an understanding. The growth will come in time. Maybe once he meets that woman who will bring him to his knees. Does that happen here? Well you will just have to dive in and find out!

This was a good 4 star read. My emotions were all over the place with this story. To get away from an abusive ex, Devorah goes home to find herself. Devorah was a very strong woman, I really enjoyed her story. The whole time I was on edge wondering if he would find her, was she really safe? Would she finally be truly happy? There was so much going on, the author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I feel like there were several meanings to this story that made me think about where I am in my life. Cal Prescott was at the top of his career. Engaged to the boss’s daughter, who also just happens to be the biggest snake. When Alli throws in Cal’s face that she is pregnant knowing she is not keeping. Cal realizes just how much New York is not the place he wants to be. While caring for his sick mother Cal escapes by using women and sex as an outlet. Never getting attached or allowing himself to feel. He finally agrees to move to Miami to be closer to Maggie and John. At a party that Maggie is hosting for her art friends Cal lays eyes on Annie. Cal is finally concentrating on life until he realizes Miami is the beginning of no more mistakes. This is a great book. Can be read as a stand-alone but you get the whole picture when you read the second book in the series. You should definitely start with this book if you plan to read them both.

This is my first time picking up a book by this author Petra Jacob. The Catford Catastrophe Zone was a very unique telling about a dystopian future that was set in the not far off year of 2120, and how technology plays a part in it? Although dystopian future books aren’t my go to reads.( I think the last full series was the divergent series) But the synopsis and cover photo really intrigued me to give this book a shot. I think this Author did a great job at world and character building. It was so well written that I was not left confused And was able to visualize everything she was describing🥰 I really enjoyed the sci-fi thriller nature with .the DNA-enhanced crime fighter, dangerous adventure, and their fight for survival! This book really kept my attention the WHOLE time. I loved it ! I am so looking forward to reading for stories by Petra Jacob 🥰🥰

The Christmas Carousel is Book 2 in The Brass Ring Series and I just loved this story so much. I smiled, I teared up and I just embraced the true meaning of Christmas in this story. While this is a story for ages 8-12 years of age, I highly recommend this story for young and young at heart.
Christmas is approaching and Rusty is trying to find the perfect gift for his grandpa since he gifted Rusty a brass ring that brought lots of adventures in Book 1. The local mall has a Christmas Carousel that Rusty is happy to continue his adventures, and each ride continues to learn the true meaning of Christmas. Will Rusty find the perfect gift for grandpa for Christmas to show him how much he loves him?
This is a truly wonderful story. I love the adventures of the Carousel and this story really tugged hard at my heartstrings. Fantastic!!! I cannot wait to see what comes next…….

I am still in the midst of a book hangover here because this knocked me off my feet with such force, I’m not sure how any book will measure up to it! This story of Cal and the various people in his life will have you feeling every emotional humanly possible. The author has such a magical way of writing that pulls you in from the very beginning and places you in the spot of our main character, Cal. He can be a bit controversial and may have you flustered with some of his decisions, but overall, he is very complex and multi-dimensional. I highly recommend this book because it will definitely give you all of the feelings as you get lost in Cal’s world. Don’t pass this duet up!

I was absolutely blown away by this book! It is an outstanding piece of literature that I find myself recommending to every single person I come across. The way this author is able to make you feel like you are experiencing the story firsthand is beyond amazing. From tragedy and grief to love and new beginnings, this book has a little bit of everything. Reading about Cal and Annie was absolutely addicting. You can feel the chemistry as soon as they meet and every moment in every scene was painted so perfectly. I’ve never read a book and came away with ZERO things I would change…then I read this. It is on the longer side as it was a combination of the author’s trilogy, but I still feel like it flew by quickly. I don’t want to give anything away so please pick it up because this is a must read!

Tanjie is a witch. Alaric is a wolf shifter. They are not supposed to like one another. Instead they are to be mortal enemies yet a connection between the two will cause a bit of an uproar.
Tanjie has lost her parents, a beloved elderly friend and has stayed away from some of the suggestions her family provided which she considered to be hippyish. She doesn’t fully understand her destiny as a witch. She inherits a bookstore, learns about her coven and finally starts to learn about witchcraft. It’s a slow process and she doesn’t know if it will be enough or in enough time.
Alaric is up for the next alpha and enjoys the wolf life. He’s drawn to Tanjie but knows disclosing this to his pack would be devastating.
This story is a great beginning to this series and created such a neat world with wonderful characters. The ending will get you and make you wonder what’s next. I highly recommend reading this incredible paranormal story.

Susan Specht Oram is one author that I am always excited to read. This is because it seems with each book she just gets better, just when I think that there is no way the next book could get any better it does. Secrets at the Cafe is a book that sucks you in from the first sentence and leaves you wanting even more when you reach the last page. Karina is the main character and she is incredibly well written. She has just lost her grandmother and the death is taking a toll on her. She begins to think she is losing her mind, she is confusing people and as if that wasn’t bad enough things of her grandmothers begin to disappear. Karina becomes determined to find them, no matter what else may happen. This book is absolutely filled with twists and turns. I definitely cannot wait to see what the next book Susan Specht Oram writes and how she makes it even better than this one. Definitely pick this one up!

I love a good small town Christmas story and this is definitely one. It takes place in a small coastal town during the holiday season and it is an absolutely cozy read. One that would be absolutely perfect being read by the twinkle of the Christmas Tree. This story is set in Christmas Cove which is a small town that lives up to its name. As it is where America (our main character) rediscovers the magic of Christmas. It isn’t discovered on her own though – it takes the charm of the small town and all of its citizens to help her find her way back. Sarah Dressler does a fantastic job creating the character of America as someone who is flawed yet isn’t too far gone. However, she does an equally fantastic job in describing and creating the charm of Christmas Cove. There were so many times where her descriptions made me feel like I was right there on those snow covered streets. This is absolutely a fantastic read that I highly recommend this holiday season.

I absolutely love a well written sports romance. So when I saw that Tam Derudder Jackson was coming out with a new series, I was so excited. Every book that I have ever read by Tam Derudder Jackson has featured fantastic characters with a plot that makes the book go so quickly. This book delivers on all my expectations. Callahan and Jamaica are wonderful characters and their story is one that is definitely worth a read. I definitely recommend reading this and I am definitely anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

This is such a cute story. I love that this book has so much to teach its readers. The biggest being perseverance. I love that Ben continues to compete despite losing after several years to Sofia. I also loved that not only did Ben have to persevere but that he also had to try different things to make it work. This embodies what I am always teaching my students. This book is so cute and I love that it has a recipe for readers to try as well. I think that is an amazing connection that readers can do to take the book further! I can think of a few kiddos on my holiday list that will be getting this book.

Detective Dylan and the Case of the Missing Mail By: MJ Murray
As an educator, I am always looking for new authors, books, and series to add to my classroom library. I am looking for books that I know that my kids will love and that they will be able to read independently yet will still hold their attention. This book delivers on all of those. Dylan is such a fun main character. He wants to be a detective and is doing everything he can to work towards that goal – buying a kit, watching tv shows, you name it he’s done it. Dylan even gets to have his little sister help out. Each chapter is entertaining as the reader is following Dylan as he tries to solve the case. As a teacher, I loved the resources that are available to teacher as well as the amount of vocabulary support found within the book! I definitely recommend picking this one up.

Jamaica is on scholarship and needs to pass this English class. Getting paired up with the football player is not ideal. But, since athletes aren’t her type…she doesn’t have anything to worry about, right?
Callahan locks eyes with Jamaica on the first day of English class and he is hooked. As they spend time together for their project, he enjoys getting under her skin. Can he get past the walls that she keeps putting up?
The banter and chemistry between these two was fun to read. Both of them are driven to do well in school (despite Jamaica’s continual belief of him being a dumb jock when they first get paired up). Callahan’s persistence to show that he is worthy of her time was entertaining to read. There were many layers to the story that I think the author did a great job of intertwining. The humor and angst had me turning the pages til the end.

Christmas Cove by Sarah Dressler. This is the perfect little book to get you in the Christmas spirit. Its the story of America Greene who is a big city girl and she loves her job as editor. When she is sent to Christmas Cove on assignment and she expects to be drowning in Christmas cheer but what she finds is no Christmas Cheer. When Leo, the town mayor,convinces her to stay the instantly fall head over heels in love. (It is a little Hallmark movie like). While they plan to turn Christmas Cove into a real Christmas mecca she also plans to write the best piece her employer has ever seen so that her writing career can take off. I’m not a huge romance reader but his sweet book made me love the town of Christmas Cove and its people. I felt like I lived there. This book will be a good read to get you in the Holiday mood and even gives a little sizzle with the characters chemistry!

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed reading this book. I can honestly say that I look forward to reading more from this author. This was a pretty suspenseful and wild story. The author had a unique way to add quite a bit of twists and turns that make you feel like you’re on this journey with the main character. This is about how winning the lottery may not be all that it is cracked up to be, it just might plain deadly. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story with ease and it didn’t take awhile to get into the story. They had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. I enjoyed watching the growth of the characters as well as the plot throughout the story. This is a fast paced, action filled, suspense, page turner that you don’t want to miss!! I look forward to reading other books by this author! I highly recommend this book!!

A. R. Hadley starts both books in duet with characters grieving loved ones and it’s very telling in my opinion. Grief is a fickle demon. Cal is introduced in this journey as a teenager and this novel ends when he meets Annie. He has multiple failed relationships because of excess baggage. Our lives are truly responses to how we react or respond to all the…stressors life throws at us. We grow with Cal over 25 years until he meets someone. Is life all roses and smiles, no…more like a rainbow…one storm ends and the day goes on. I’m not sure if I would have read this first…I’m still processing. The journey was long and hard and it took us on an emotional roller coaster ride.

Here, he hopes this will be the inspiration he needs.
